FELICE A TESTACCIO ROMA Reviews
Good but service needs improvement
Service needs to improve. They forgot some of our items, and we were waiting for long tine for server to come take our orders. Servers were also somewhat rude and rushing us. Food was good, loved the pear tart and the carbonara. Meatballs were good too.
Disappointing and too commercial
Overrated. Servers were not attentive and we waited nearly 30 minutes before they took our drink order, despite coming quickly with bread and water. The Felice pasta was mediocre. It was not hot and not cooked al dente. Tiramisu was disappointing and possibly the worst I’ve had ever. The cookies were hard and not properly soaked and there was non traditional chocolate syrup on top. Steak was mediocre, not well seasoned and very fatty. Overall disappointing and sadly too commercial. Meatball was good but very pricy- 16 euros for two meatballs. Sautéed veggies was just brocolli or spinach and very limp. I was expecting a variety.

We were referred to Felice our first night in Rome, and grateful we managed to get a reservation. I highly recommend you do it far in advance, otherwise you will be having a late reservation at 10 PM. However, it's so worth it! The food is outstanding!
Delicious food, great service and amazing vibes! The Cacio
Delicious food, great service and amazing vibes! The Cacio e Pepe was amazing. Coming from NY, I am always so shocked by how cheap the wine can be in Italy and our waiter made sure to give us his best recommendations.
Amazing food- eating like a local.
We were the only Americans in the restaurant for lunch and all the staff was very friendly and helpful. We recommend the Cabonara and the Cacio e Pepe and the Ferentano White Wine! Don't forget the tiramisu!!
Service with a real attitude.
Maybe it is because we are Americans and speak very little Italian, but we felt unwanted. Sat outside with no ambience. Food was 6 or 7 out of 10 and did not live up to the hype. Tried an assortment of dishes, and none were overwhelming. Quite a disappointment!
The Cacio e Pepe here is unmatched!!!! All the adjectives
The Cacio e Pepe here is unmatched!!!! All the adjectives in the world are not enough to describe this dish. They toss it right in front of you as well
Excellent
Excellent experience. Booked in advance, got seated, fast service. Excellent and tasty food. Would definitely come back if given the chance.
This is a mistake you should not make when in Rome.
You could spend a week in Rome going from the Vatican to Trevi Fountain to the Spanish Steps and never feel as much like a tourist as this place will make you feel. We had a reservation, we speak Italian, we are sophisticated wine drinkers... and this was a miserable experience. There were people seated when we were who were literally in and out in half an hour. The waiter would quickly say "all at once?" as people ordered so that they could drop all their food as quickly as possible. I pointedly told him that we did not want our food all at once, which at least meant that we got to eat our antipasti without hassle. The wine broker (I don't know what else to call him) was disinclined to answer questions, but would simply point to a wine and nod as if you had chosen it. Again, speaking Italian we were able to insist on getting what we wanted. Americans were apparently not allowed to sit inside (some asked and were refused). To make matters worse, the food was really mediocre. It was clear that bowls of caccio e pepe were premade and standing at the ready. The pasta was overcooked and the proportions were not excellent. If you find yourself in Rome sometime soon, and lucky you if you do! I suggest that you enjoy your time and then return home and brag to everybody that you were smart enough to avoid this place. Testaccio is a lovely neighborhood, by the way. Find somewhere else to eat there so that you can enjoy it.
The pasta was great however we were seated in what looked
The pasta was great however we were seated in what looked like a temporary tent annexed to the main restaurant; basically on the pavement outside. The service was very pushy and maybe through cultural stereotyping (for English customers) or a surplus the roast lamb was being coerced - I don't eat lamb but my Wife ordered it and it was a cut of lamb unknown to any man or butcher, greasy and inedible. When it came to the bill the need for a tip in CASH was heavily emphasised. It was our anniversary, we thought it would be nice but frankly it was a big let down in hospitality and food. You might call it an utter failure (apart from the pasta) on every level. I would not go back and I cannot recommend this place 'resting on its laurels' and hubris to anyone.

Yes, they have the best cacio e pepe I've had in Rome so far, but too bad the service was not up to par. At first, I thought it was because it was a busy night, but then I started to realize the waitress may have just had something against us. We were seated before the table next to us but their orders were taken first. We finished our meal before the table next to us, but they were able to place their dessert orders before us. So after about 45 minutes of waiting, we got our servers' attention. She never came back. Finally, my son hailed another server over, and we were able to place our dessert orders.

Very good food, with many options to choose from including the wine list. The price was slightly higher compared to others but still good. Service was quick and staff was very attentive and professional even though the place was quite crowded. Nice ambience for the restaurant itself but not so much for the neighborhood.
Huge tourist trap
It is all bad , nothing is fresh , buffalo tastes like chewing gum , pasta cacio e Pepe served cold , saltimbocca tastes like reheated

We were very excited to try this "local Roman Favorite" on December 29 But wound up disappointed. The food was OK, although the carbonara was very good. However, the service and attitude of the waiter and restaurant staff will leave a bad taste in your mouth. To top it off, our waiter tricked us and upcharged us for our pasta. We ordered three plates of pasta at €16 each to share along with the rest of our meal and he offered to split them for us. We agreed, even though we were 3 couples and didn't mind sharing. On the bill, he charged us €11 for For each half, an extra six euros for splitting the plates. He was very upset when he only got a five euro tip in reality he shouldn't have received anything.

It was good- I think it was not worth the hype it seemed very American and touristy but the people were nice and let us in without a reservation
Food was good.
I wouldn't crave any of this but it was fine. The cacio e pepe wa perfectly al dente, but the sauce was broken. The lamb had very little meat - what you see in the picture, that top layer is fairly thin and that's all of the protein. It was probably just over 2 ounces worth. So not enough protein to potato portion. The server was so kind. I expressed I wanted to try the cacio e pepe but also wanted to try the lamb and it was just to much food. He graciously offered me a half portion of the pasta so I could have a full portion of the lamb dish. Very appreciated. The sommelier was also generous with her time and advice. I'm not familiar with all of the Italian wines yet and explained to her my preferences and she recommended a delicious option. I'm terms of ambiance, I sat outside and it was a warm, balmy November evening in Rome under a lit tent. It was a relaxing and an enjoyable place to dine.
The most amazing Italian experience I have ever had.
The coacción peppe and carbonata are absolutely amazing!!!!
The food was ok to good.
but the service was terrible, and I'm writing as someone who has been living in Roma for 5+ weeks now. We were looking forward to eating at this legend but the chaotic service marred the meal. We spent about 100 E for two incl a nice bottle of wine. My wife ordered lamb as a secundi but waiters kept trying to wrap us up with coffee or dessert. This happened 2-3 times. Then finally another waiter came to say the lamb was gone. She substituted veal but the chaos of them not seeming to know what was order d ( not a language issue ) was comical bordering on bad. Save your money and go to another Testaccio place
Food (3 out of 5) -- we made the trip to Felice a Testaccio
Food (3 out of 5) -- we made the trip to Felice a Testaccio for their famous Cacio e Pepe. Sadly, we were disappointed. The cheese and pepper were out of balance with too much cheese and no pepper flavor. There is a lot of focus at Felice on the presentation with the dish brought to the table with the cheese not having been mixed it. It's a nice presentation by the server making a show of mixing it table side. Unfortunately, in our case this left us with pasta that was cooled off far too much with some cheese not even fully melted and blended into the pasta. Service (3) -- service was better than our food, but still mediocre. Felice strikes me as, unfortunately, another once excellent restaurant that is largely now just getting by based on the momentum of its past success. Atmosphere (3) -- generic and nondescript. We did not come to Felice for the ambiance.

My family is native to New York City and visited Italy this summer. I came to Testaccio and was the young man helping the big wheelchair into your restaurant in August. Thank you for your help and delicious food for my father and my family. All the food was amazing and you are good people. You should know your food is desired not just internationally but also globally. People talk about your pasta in several languages, even in New York. Do everything exactly the same! Your food is so good it could be as popular as Rome's Roscioli or Florence's All'antico Vinaio in New York if you wanted. Grazie mille
Fantastico.
Started off a little slow but service picked up and was attentive throughout. Two different waiters, one for drinks and another for food. The host/head confirmed that everything was okay with us at the end which was a nice touch. Honestly every dish was amazing to me. From apps to dolce, each was superb. I very much like the artichoke which was cooked to perfection, tender and good flavor. Can't go wrong with any of their pasta dishes. The meatballs tomato sauce was succulent, great for dipping your bread also. The semifreddi desert is a must try. There was an issue with double charged for wine but that was quickly resolved. Great atmosphere and enjoyable. I would return.
Came here for my birthday last night expecting to be blown
Came here for my birthday last night expecting to be blown away since all the reviews say it's the best. I've been trying cacio e pepe at every spot we've eaten at in Rome (Tonnarello and Da Francesco so far). This was my favorite. It was really executed well and the sauce was perfectly balanced. Their saltimboca and involtini were fantastic too. So why 3 stars? The service was horrendous. I'm not sure if we came on an off night or if they were short staffed or if we experience the widely known racism towards Asians in Rome. We sat for awhile waiting for menus, so that delayed us making up our minds. There was a big table of locals sitting next to us and then they sat another table of Americans that spoke a little Italian a few minutes after us. They tended to those 2 tables before us. The food came out pretty prompt and cleared away after we ate, but we waited for almost 45 minutes before a dessert menu was offered. The table that came after us was offered dessert right away. I know Italian culture tends to wait i between courses to sit, talk and digest but this was way too long. All the servers avoided our area even though I made eye contact with one of them. I didn't have this experience anywhere else on our 2 week trip throughout Italy. In fact the service was phenomenal at both Da Francesco and Tonnarello. Once we did get the dessert menu, the tirimisu was yummy. It's too bad the service took away from the quality of the food. I also don't expect people from another country to try to speak in English, but I found it curious that this was the 1st restaurant that didn't even attempt to try with us. 2 stars for the food but will not recommend this place for the poor/lack of service.
Before coming to Rome, i was told they had one of the best
Before coming to Rome, i was told they had one of the best Cacio e Pepe dishes and had to try. Surprisingly, it was easy to make a reservation at 1:30 pm on a Tuesday after our Colosseum tour. Upon arrival, we were sat immediately, drinks and bread came out right away. Servers are very friendly, but hardly speak English, enough to get by. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe, carbonara, grilled fish (came with squid and 2 shrimp), a salad (very basic), and red wine. They mix the Cacio e Pepe by hand when it gets to the table, and it definitely was the best I've ever had! Al dente noodles, perfect peppery flavor, just the right amount of Pecorino cheese, for the most flavorful and fulfilling dish. Interestingly, in Italy, the first course is the pasta and you don't get your salad or main course in our case the fish till after the pasta is served and eaten,Ii was so confused, i thought they forgot my food. They have certain dishes only available on certain days, I included a picture of Tuesday, the day we went. The fish was good, had a lot of bones, carbonara my hubby really liked, and my son loved his Tonnarelli burro, Sugi e parmigiano.
Must try it
The food was very good; I had pasta cacio e pepe which was very tasty; we also tried the beef, and the taste was as good as the smell. The service was very good. We were lucky to find a table without a reservation on Sunday evening, but I think it was by chance because the place was crowded, we have sat outside.
Best Carbonara in Rome
Every single time we travel to Rome we come eat here. Their best plate is the carbonara - it is literally the best carbonara in all of Rome. It’s a little pricey but it’s worth it!
It was overhyped.
Very mediocre greasy overcooked food. The artichokes were mushy. The Sunday special pasta was tasteless and greasy. My partner ordered lamb and had to cut through layers of fat. The service was unfriendly and sat us by the toilets. I don't recommend it.
Heard great reviews and had to try it ourselves.
And it lived up to the hype. We decided last minute to try Felice a Testaccio so we did not have a reservation. Luckily, they were able to fit us in right before closing. Normally, you'd definitely need a reservation. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe, Breaded Cutlets of Lamb with Fried Zucchini, Carbonara, Eggplant Parmesan, and Tiramisu.Honestly, everything tasted wonderful. The Cacio e Pepe stood out the most. It was the best Cacio e Pepe I've ever had. The tiramisu was also so so delicious. They had great service and spoke English really well.I hope to come back in the future and try more items on the menu!
Considered one of the best in Testaccio, the new food Mecca.
Great pasta with some creative, unique choices and reasonable cost. Excellent portions. Wine list a bit pricey for Italy but lots on offer. Service was excellent if a bit bustling. Shared a salad and a dessert, which was fine. Reservations a must; can be made easily online.Worth a try!!!
Asked a local friend of ours what's some of his favorite
Asked a local friend of ours what's some of his favorite places to eat in Roma and he did not disappoint! It's about a 10 minute ride southeast from the center of Roma but definitely worth the drive! We arrived when it opened and already it started to fill up quick. The staff was very helpful and spoke good English, the menu was in both Italian and English too so it helped with making the choices easier. I had the fish which was cooked perfectly, and each of the calamari slices perfectly cooked all the way through but the prawns was slightly over cooked but I wouldn't complain. The pasta was delightful and smooth and the clams was fresh and scrumptious. But the best part in my opinion was the homemade tiramisu! Each layer was well balanced and the coffee at the bottom was delightful! In all my years of traveling the US I've never had anything like it, if I could I'd have some delivered to the US that would make my day!!
