Mean Manager
This restorant has a very mean manager. We have been there with my son for lunch time, host was taking us to table this mean guy said we do not expect customer with short!!! There was a customer seating with short , he did not take us i do not know why he was a racist or expecting some money from me otherwise it is not make a sence, not bussy, lunch time, 85 degree, and funny things we were there 2 weeks ago it was so bussy, we waited 20 minutes for table my son was wearing short too. That kind of person would not be in hospitality endustry

Good Italian cuisine from a French managed restaurant. My plat du jour Red Snappet with safrannsauce was well prepared. My seasonal salad had excellent seadining. I particularly liked the small sweet gourmandises with the expresso I had at the end. Service is eccellent but a little too intrusive.
Be the first to ReplyI had high hopes that were dashed to smithereens...
Mediocre in every way except price. First of all "who's table is this? Oh I thought so-and-so got your drink order," said the waitress while putting her knee on the vacant chair... wait what? - yes diner-style AND... Question: what mostly Italian place in NYC doesn't have a bottle of Luxardo in the bar? - so no Martinez for me. This is NEW YORK CITY! Ok, moving on to the appetizer - Eggplant parmesan tasted like neither. Just a thin slice of crunchy stuff with cheese on top like it just came out of the air-fryer in a college dorm. Let's leave it there. Ok, main course - Dorade provencal was greasy and unable to rise above the murky waters it swam in. No provencal flavors AT ALL... More like a dead body flung into the East River. Garlic who? Herbs where? Onions what? BORING!! Dessert faired no better - rhubarb crumble - again, seriously I think it was one of those recipes you can mix and bake in a mug in the microwave. Ok, let's get a sauterne to clear our palate. I'm sorry no sauterne, and the waitress doesn't know what ports they have. Seriously? Wasted money, like let's just give them money for nothing. DO NOT BOTHER. Uninspired food, uninformed strange service, not going back - EVER.
Be the first to ReplyExtreme prices for specials should be communicated
The prices for pasta in the menu +- 30 dollar. I think if you have a pasta as a special of the day that costs 150 dollar, it should be communicated. To see it in the check was frustrating and ruined the experience. The taste of the food was not bad but far from this priceโฆ
Be the first to ReplyEaster Brunch
Ate outdoors in a 3 sided, heated "shed" on Easter Sunday. Excellent food and great service. Great people watching.
Be the first to ReplyRip off -- avoid
If the prices were 50% less it would be a pleasant place to dine. However $42 for a lunch entree of salmon with nothing on the side (the side dishes of brussels sprouts, etc., are an additional $18 !) is just an outrage. Its just a New York 'bistro,' not a Michelin-starred restaurant with a world-renowned reputation. As you can imagine (given the prices) the other patrons appeared to be entitled and demanding. Though I will say the service was very nice.
This restaurant should be shunned. Shame on them for gouging New Yorkers. Shame on New Yorkers for being gouged.
Decent Location and Food but Still Not Justify the Price Tag
Had brunch there on the sidewalk. Nice set up including a few pots of orange trees that gave an attempt of country setting. Very European including only have bottled water, whether you pick still or sparkling, you will have to pay an astronomical price for it. Food are good, a little bit innovative, and priced to match all their midtown neighbor restaurants. We enjoyed the service. The wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive.

Dinner with friends at this french restaurant
Nice atmosphere , great food , service can be improved
Never again
I was there with a good friend, we ordered octopus, foie and wagyu meat, the octopus was normal but ridiculous, I was not able to eat the foie (50% chicken) and the meat was to long on fire. It is absolutely not worthy.

A friend made a reservation in this cozy place, nice menu, friendly service and you feel like a local. Each dish was delicious and service was impeccable.
Cute Little French Restaurant
So if you were a fan of Bilboquet... then let me stop you right there! This place is charming yet formal quiet and understated. No one loud or famous just a bunch of people enjoying good wine and solid food.
I ordered the famous Poulet Cajun. Yes Cajun chicken and it was delicious and buttery of course... itโs French. Presentation was lacking as it came on a bed of mix greens no fuss. Steak came on a white plate. Simple. Pasta with uni was good but not handmade. Place is pricey for what you are getting. I have mixed feelings but prefer the ambiance of Balthazar to this. But the food is better! See Iโm mixed. Sorry canโt be more clear. Iโd say... youโre in NYC go try another spot. Pass
Eat somewhere else - they don't want you anyway
The food is okay, but there is much better food in NYC that costs less. Service was cold and they will make you feel like you aren't welcome (instead of trying to make you comfortable). They supposedly research guests to make sure they are good enough to eat there, so make sure you're rich and fabulous before you try to get a reservation.
