Embrace and Exploration of One Senses
To share is the largest gift that one can give and receive. Arriving, you are instantly comforted with the environment. Perfect temperature, lighting, sound, aromas and the touch of your seat provide comforts usually only felt in your home. Tanner was the person who extended that comfort from salutation to expressing each dish with heartfelt passion. Eating is to replenish your body, this was not that. This was a complete team experience where everything was an extension of ideas that developed over time. The beauty that every team member supports produces a thriving kitchen that spoils us, the visiting family. Thank You Chef Kreuther and your Family.

The food is exceptional, with a mix of inventive and beautifully presented dishes. It's a bit on the fancy side, so expect some more mannered and sophisticated choices. The service is outstanding, adding to the overall high-end feel of the place. The ambience is elegant and perfect for a special occasion or a fancy night out. While some dishes might feel a bit overdone, the overall quality and creativity are impressive.

The food was excellent and the service was even better; everyone from the host to the wait staff to the management were knowledgeable, gracious, and friendly. Haute cuisine doesn’t have to be stuffy; the right service will make you feel welcome and comfortable
Be the first to ReplyExquisite food. Service and related vibe could be better.
Came for lunch as a first timer. We had the tasting menu, which I think was the best decision. It gives you the best sense of the possibilities. Everything tasted great. We got both the cedar plank king salmon and the famous aged duck breast. Both were exquisite. Really every dish was great, but those were highlights, along with the liver late w pistachois. Having visited 3 other Michelin establishments, and being really picky here, I have to mention that service was less than 2 star. Servers seemed shy, barely explained what was being served, and kind of wanted to run away after each dish. It did not seem warm and friendly. Some one star places I went to were better at this. In Europe they would both make more of an effort and even speak to you in English while doing it. Sorry to nitpick, but when you pay 400+ for lunch, you want to be honest about your observations. That being said, I would absolutely come back!
Be the first to ReplyComfortably a Top 3 restaurant in Midtown. A "must" for special occassions
10/10. Everything about GK is outstanding. The food, and the varying menus. The exceptional wine list and knowledgeable and friendly sommelier. The decor, which screams friendly decadence. The staff are cognizant of your pacing needs. The dishes themselves have incredible balance and unique tastes. Third time dining here, and we'll be back. Superb

Well deserving of 2 star Michelin. Fantastic attention to detail never disappoints at this restaurant. Service is always exemplary.

I love you Gabriel Kreutner. It’s my third time. The service is exceptional! The food divine. It’s changed a little bit since the pandemic ended. A la carte dining is at the bar area. My 83-year-old mother loves this restaurant, but only wants a small plate and they accommodate. We had two or three amuse bouches. All fabulous. It was about $250 per person.
Be the first to ReplyHead for the Bar
Coming in for my first Michelin experience of the year and I must say I felt uninspired when I took my first bite of their bites from Chef’s tasting menu. Technically, incorrect since I did have some free chips at the bar which by far were the star of my visit and they were free! Ambiance was nice where old style renaissance meets modern day log cabin. It felt like a small space but not sure if there was another room. Service is what you might expect and I do feel most of value is from the service. I only remembered the scallops and the duck as standouts but they were so minuscule and what you can get at any fine, cheaper French bistro. They were touted as best bar food which if I do come back, that’s where I’ll be at because that looks like a comfy spot and those free chips!

Stellar meal, start to finish. All four of us ordered the four course prix fix, and all four of us were delighted by our choices for each course. The scallops were sublime, the coconut bisque was perfection, and the terrine was light as air. The service was wonderful, attentive without being overbearing. One of us had a food allergy that they graciously worked around.
Be the first to ReplyA mixed tale of fantastic food and disappointing service
Dinner at 2* Gabriel Kreuther was a story of fantastic food and subpar service. The food was outstanding. My friends only went for the 3 course pre-fixe, so I settled for the 4 course pre-fixe. They don’t offer a wine pairing unless you order the full 11 course tasting menu, so I asked the sommelier to curate a few glasses to pair with my menu choices — but he never did. He never even returned to the table. Our server filled in to recommend a few glasses, but I was soured to do more after that. Then the server pretty much disappeared on us after the first two courses. This didn’t even qualify as 1* service. It was an otherwise delicious meal; the food was 2-3* worthy. I really enjoyed the lobster and bison tartare and carbonara with black truffle add ons, too. But I probably wouldn’t return for quite a while — if ever — due to the major service flubs.

Great service! I thought that the food was too fussed.... and very expensive. Some people love 'food as art'.. and if you do, you will love Gabriel Kreuther! I thought it was overpriced and too fussy.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent - Expensive
The place is in a great location, across the street from the park and just a short walk from Grand Central. The interior looks more formal/uptight than it actually is...once you are in the warm dining room. The space is open but still not overly loud. The menu is diverse, creative and includes detailed explanations. The service is prompt and refined but not exactly warm. The four courses we ordered arrived at perfect intervals. The Tarte Flambee, designed to be shared did not have the finesse of the courses and were probably unnecessarily large for our group. The amuse bouche offerings were wonderfully subtle, delicate and still very flavorful. The wine selection is excellent, although pricey. The cocktails are elegant, original and balanced, but weak. Our night of celebration was $1700 for four, including a healthy, but not record-breaking, tip. That is a lot of money but worth it for the experience. At the end of the night, the chef came out and greeted the remaining guests. For some reason, our table was skipped and some of the members of our party felt disappointed/slighted...perhaps he was being respectful of our privacy or just tired and ready to go home?

I’d been here some years ago close to when they first opened and though the food was excellent there’d been a slight incident with truffles. Nevertheless, our concierge at the Mark encouraged me to try it again and so glad I did. First of all, it is a gorgeous space. Open and bright and elegant. We went after a show so it was not until 10 but we were warmly welcomed and invited to have a cocktail at the bar before sitting. Drinks were excellent and we were not rushed. The entire meal was excellent and shout out to the sommelier who guided us through excellent pairings. Funny story though - there was this obnoxious couple (him really worse than her) sitting next to us speaking so loudly and rudely about the restaurant and service (both of which we were finding to be excellent). Finally the conversation turned to their bedroom habits. At that point I told our server I couldn’t take it anymore. Without missing a beat and appearing to know exactly what I was talking about she asked if we’d like to move. They set up a table at the opposite side next to a lovely couple. Now that is service - the Somme even gave us an extra pour of champagne.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Dinner Even in the Lounge
Dined here just before Christmas. We had a tight schedule because we were seeing a show, so we made reservations in the lounge since we didn't have enough time for the full tasting menu. The food, wine, and service were all fantastic. Both of the tarte flambes were divine, and the Alsatian sausage was the best sausage of any kind I have ever tasted. The violet mustard perfectly accentuated it as well. The sommelier recommended an Alsatian cremant that was perfect. Although we enjoyed our show, we ended up talking more about our regrets at not being able to sample the full menu here. We are looking forward to another trip to enjoy the full experience!

We just returned from a trip to NYC and can’t stop talking about our dinner here. It was perfection from the service, to the sommelier, to the outstanding food. I can’t stop thinking about the sauerkraut and sturgeon tart, and my husband dreams about the hay-smoked duck. We did the 4 course prix fixe and it was all delicious. A shout out to our server Adam and to the very friendly and knowledgeable sommelier (I forget his name). We loved it!

A wonderful evening where we were fortunate to dine at chefs table. Our son, training to be a chef at a fine Scottish restaurant chose this venue. We were absolutely thrilled with the quality of service, dining experience, wine and kindness shown by your staff. We enjoyed a wonderfully presented and prepared tasting menu which was elegant gastronomy. Truly a masterpiece that tantalised our taste buds and left us hugely impressed. There is nothing ordinary, dull or disappointing about dining here. Having dined in other 1+2 star Michelin restaurants in the UK, the only one that comes close is The Savoy, but your experience was even better. You fired our sons enthusiasm to greater heights and the time given to him and tour was second to none. He works crazy long hours five days a week away from home but it’s his calling. I hope one day he can come and learn more with you.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent tasting menu and wine list beautifully presented
We truly enjoyed our evening. The dining room is elegant and quiet enough for conversation. The sommelier was very good and although staff were efficient, we found them not to be as well trained as at other Michelin starred restaurants (knowledge of French food terms should be a requirement!). The amuses bouches were creative and tasty; the foie gras and duck especially delicious. The chocolate dessert was superior to the grape meringue dish (tasted like Welch jelly to me). The wines we were recommended complimented the dishes.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular, but could have gone so differently
I love Michelin star experiences and had very high expectations. This was a $600 dinner for two including drinks and service fee. We started off with a very very rude waitress, I cannot refer to her as wait staff as she was no better than what you would expect at a fast food location. We had a lot of questions and she walked away from me in the middle of my inquiries and said "your not ready, I have another table. I was shocked and called for the manager - who saved the night. Our waitstaff was upgraded and we had a marvelous experience. The food was spectacular. We opted for some shares, and the 4 course pre-fixe. Every treat, bite and course was better & better as the night progressed. The bread, the desserts, the end of meal treats were divine. Service was smooth and exactly what one expects from a restaurant such as this. Our waiter was kind, friendly and funny - he was very sensitive to my friends concern with alcohol products etc as she fully abstains. This restaurant recovered brilliantly and provided an excellent evening - I commend them all for that. Thank you

We did the 4-course menu and every single dish was impeccable. The service was on point. I would gladly go back and I would love to try to chef’s table!

Perfectly cooked; diverse, well-balanced and joyfully unexpected flavors; attentive, thoughtful and generous service. Genuine. Confident. Gracious. A perfect meal and evening.

Excellent Michelin star fine dining. The tables are spaced out and not crammed so a nice airy atmosphere. Food was excellent and service impeccable. We chose this restaurant and restaurant Daniel for our vacation and we preferred this one.
Be the first to ReplyUnimpressed
So we came here on a Friday night and unfortunately we will not be back. I’ll start by saying that the atmosphere and service was great. We did the chef’s tasting menu and added on the more expensive option for the wine pairing. The Som who poured our wine pairing was not very knowledgeable about any of the wines he poured for us. He didn’t explain wine and he was unable to answer questions we had, and when he did answer they were inadequate answers. We are very into wine and know a lot so we were unimpressed by a Michelin star som to say the least. He even said the wrong years for what he was pouring several times, and the years were on the bottles! It just seemed unprofessional and questionable as to weather he was really a sommelier or not. Next, the food. It was very bland and lacked flavor. Keep in mind that we have been to 13 Michelin star rated restaurants in NYC so far, we mainly come to the city solely to try the top rated restaurants. With that being said, this is the only one we haven’t liked or loved so far. I wouldn’t recommend coming here. It is expensive which we knew since it is so highly rated but it is not worth the money! I honestly don’t know how they got their Michelin star rating. With so many other restaurants definitely skip this one.

We went for our anniversary dinner. The service and the atmosphere were very good, we felt like we are well taken care of. The staff offered a coat check, there was an anniversary card on the table signed by the chef and a complementary chocolate tart. It would be nice to actually see the chef/owner walk to the floor, not just junior staff, but he wasn't in. Some food was very good and done just right (duck, lobster, desserts), some food was a mix/not executed (warm bread with a brick cold blob of butter, fois gras shoudl be chilled or room temperature - it was cold), and some other food was a bit too "eclectic" - shiitake mushrooms over lobster, root vegetable warm drink, truffles over beans. The latter was a new dish, and I would not recommend it. First, this type of bean has a strong texture and flavor overpowering the delicate unmistakable flavor and spongy texture of the truffle. Secondly, it had a $65 surcharge. Often, prix fixe menus have a price listed, if not, they have an asterisk to the dishes to indicate a surcharge, if not, the staff verbally indicates it as a courtesy. Nothing was disclosed, and my food turned out to be about $100 extra. My husband had a similar experience. Overall, we had a nice time, and it is little things make it great or just OK. Hope you have a better experience!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Dinner!
Our first trip to NYC, we visited Gabriel Kreuther during the Christmas holiday season. The restaurant was seasonably decorated and beautiful. We were there before a Broadway show so we didn’t have too much time and told our server. He recommended the 4-course tasting menu and told us that he’d make sure we would finish dinner by 6:30 pm (the show starts at 7 pm.) Thanks to our server, we finished a little bit before 6:30. But the whole time we were there, there was no rush, yet not too slow. Each course came with perfect timing. The service was excellent. Each course was creative, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious! We loved everything about the dinner! This MICHELIN (2 stars) restaurant is an excellent restaurant for any special occasions!

We had a wonderful meal and experience at GK last week. First off, the restaurant itself is beautiful and they took appropriate COVID-related precautions. We felt very safe. We selected the 4-course tasting menu and everything we had was beautifully presented and was worthy of the Michelin rating. I can't comment on the wine list since I only had wine by the glass (which was excellent). The service was professional and friendly yet relaxed. The server's recommendations were spot on! I highly recommend GK for a special night out - you won't be disappointed.
