Excellent original Mexican food
Nice to find an established place that continues to serve great food and service. Owned by locals for +20 years and as popular as ever.

We stopped and had fajitas and kids were happy with the chips and salsa. Lots of drinks on offer too

This was always a favorite of ours and was always busy. After have a few issues we had stopped going. We however decided to try it again. It was worse. Service was the pits. Forgot drinks, chip refills and orders incorrect. Some had food that was burnt and some cold. Sadly we won't give them another try. So sad to see a well known family restraunt ruined by decendents of the original generation.

After nearly 140 reviews, this is my first 1 star review. I have eaten at more than 80% of the Mexican food restaurants in the Quad Cities and this one...well, is awful. I ordered 2 fish tacos @$3 ea. They had the smallest piece of cod (including the fried coating) I have ever seen. I donโt even need all the fingers on one hand to count how many shreds of cabbage they had and the corn tortillas were stale-hard and cold. My son had the enchiladas and said only the rice was good. My friend had a Torta, simply a sandwich with ground beef and condiments. He said it was just okay and he always orders them. Nothing we ordered required a French chef to prepare. The service was adequate. Nothing was worth the cost. Awful...just awful.
Be the first to ReplyWe don't stop here that much anymore
We were better fans for sometime, but it's dropped off for us. We did stop here many times in a year, but it had been about a year since we were here last. They raised prices awhile ago. When they printed new menus they also dropped some items. Onion rings was one of those items.
The speed of our order seemed slow as we had noticed before. No complaints about the food itself, but something comes up short for the speed either in the kitchen or of the wait staff, maybe both.
We don't seem to have those problems since we started going to Rudy's Tacos. The food is just as good in our opinion. The order time is faster and the wait staff seems friendlier and faster. Prices are about the same, maybe a little less for some items. And BTW, they do have onion rings and they are very good.
We really don't find a reason to return here.
Great lunch spot!
Great spot to have a business lunch. Staff is polite and professional and fast. Food caters to all palates and is really affordable. Lots of quite spots to have a serious conversation or plenty of open areas to bbn celebrate a win. Awesome atmosphere!!

Went in for snack as I eat here often buy one get one free margaritas that night not a bad deal highly recommend this place .
Be the first to ReplyRoasted Pork Burrito
The kitchen at Ganzo's is accommodating. Elsewhere, I had a pork burrito (Asasdo de Puerco), but as a bicyclist, Ganzo's is convenient for me. I asked if they could make a roasted pork and bean burrito and was told it was no problem. They came out with cheese over them and were very tasty. Considering I ordered off menu AND ala-carte, I have been coming back for more. I was seated at the bar and a customer next to me said he had to ask what I was eating, because it smelled so good. He said he was a regular and thought he knew all the dishes.

We came here for nostalgic reasons. Back in the day my husband worked for Ganzo's in the fairgrounds and he loved the people, the food, and even the drinks.
I don't drink alcohol so if you want a mean margarita, my husband says theirs are good. They don't seem to water them down or use cheap tequila.
We have been three times. It is most certainly better than Tack Bell but it is not the best I have mexican food I have ever had.
Their waitstaff are nice enough. You will probably have to flag them down for a refill on your drink.
The best part of the visit is when the owner and his wife come out and go from table to table to say hello. They make you feel like family.
Great chips, good food, slow service
Tuesday night after playing tennis. Didn't appear busy but it took a long time to get chips (which are terrific) and salsa and to get drinks and to get order taken. The "Large combo" was good; standard Mexican options.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Mexican food; weird bathroom locations
We stopped in at Ganzos for dinner. Service was a little slow but the food was great. My burritos were some of best I've had. My wife had two tacos and she liked them. The chips were free unlike Rudy's and were really good. The only thing I didn't like about this location is the seating arrangement felt awkward. That and the bathrooms are located just inside the entrance; really awkward. If you can get past these items and enjoy the food the place is worth a visit.
