Poor Service
Very disappointed with the very slow service. Would not consider going back. Waited for drinks, dinner, and had to ask for the table to be cleaned. A restaurant with this price point should offer top service.

Been a steady patron for many years but unfortunately, after how we were treated last night we will no longer support Sam and his business. The manager followed my family out and took a photo/text of what appeared to be my son's license plate as if he was a criminal. It's sad to see that my family can not enjoy an evening, without having to deal with being misjudged.

This is my 3rd trip the first trip was not good my daughter purchase a home in the area and suggest we go again the food was ok. My last visit I seen they are all about making money. I order the NEW SOFT SHELL CRAB STUFF with crab meat I must have received the one they forgot to stuff I ask for a 50% discount and the manager decline without coming over to the table I believe they deserve a lesson in humble. So many other places that appreciate the costumers Let’s support them not the GBar Money talks so let them listen

Terrible experience. I even spoke to the manager who didn’t even really seem to care or is aware of the situation. I was racially profiled and was mistreated. Please beware of this place. The food is great but the service is terrible. I spent a good amount of money for a terrible experience. Much better restaurants on Haddon Ave !

Let me start my saying that we have been going to Giumarellos for 30 years since they were in their Haddon Heights location. We order take out regularly and I have held numerous large and expensive business dinners there over the years. My husband and I liked it so much that our family and friends often purchased us gift certificates over the years. In fact, there was a gift certificate waiting for us when we arrived - called in by a dear friend for my birthday dinner. Unfortunately, our experience tonight was awful. We came in and the place was half empty, so we asked if we could sit in the bar area where there were many available tables instead of one of the very empty dining rooms (we had reserved a table for my birthday). It was a beautiful evening and we wanted to see some sun light (both dining rooms are windowless). The young lady at the front responded by saying “We don’t do that. We don’t change tables. We have been holding this table for you”. Now let me repeat - the restaurant was half empty so there was no one waiting for our table. My response was well then cancel our reservation and we will sit in the bar area. Her response “No, you can’t do that”. The entire thing was ridiculous and completely illogical. So we just sat where they put us - in a corner of a nearly empty dining room with no outside light. Then the food came. I ordered a special on the menu -Burrata with eggplant and tomatoes. The dish came out with a beautiful piece of cheese but the tomato was anemic and the eggplant was completely inedible. It was barely cooked, hard as a rock and very bitter. Anyone who knows anything about cooking knows you have to soak or grill eggplant to get the bitterness out. I would expect that the chef could execute what should have been an easy dish to prepare. But that didn’t happen. Then the busboy was clearing the table while we were still eating. Literally sticking his hands between where we were sharing food. I almost laughed but it was so sad. We had only been there an hour and we were being made to feel rushed to get the heck out and it was only 8 pm! The entire experience was just pathetic. From the inhospitable and unnecessarily rigid beginning, to the food, to the meal interruption while we were still eating- it all added up to an awful experience for a birthday dinner. I think a previously great place has lost its luster. There is just no attention to detail and the staff are not uniformly trained on customer service and good judgement. We’ll use our last gift certificates for take out but we doubt we will be going back.
Be the first to ReplyGood food when it comes & atmosphere but NOT service
Been here a few times normally very good all around. We went on a Wednesday night with a couple from out of town busy but not busier then when I was there a few times before. We get there at 6:15 seated right away great the waiter comes 25min later for drink order (someone in the group joking kept track of time because they wanted a drink right away and kept checking wasn't joke by end of night) says okay be right back with drinks and bread only brings back drinks. He finally comes back 7:10 and asks if we want to put in only apps we say yes and our whole order says okay takes order says I forgot your bread I'll bring that right out but again doesn't. Bings out apps (7:50) no bread (at this point the bread has become a table joke even though we're hungry). The dinners come out 8:25 but he forgot the salad that comes with the dinner we just at this point asked to box the salad up now to remind you we got seated at 6:15 over two hours and if you were wondering he again forgot the bread so at this point we asked a bus boy to get it. Then the check of course had to ask twice for it and then took forever to get my card back so we could finally leave around 9:15 I say around because the valet was backed up. Okay first I've ordered catering on Christmas Eve from here past two years and have been here multiple times so last thing I thought was to write a bad review but the service was really bad for a place like this. Now the table next to us different waiter came after and left long before us. But even if they got lucky and the kitchen was backed up 1 make sure we keep getting drinks 2 tell us (no one did) 3 make sure you get easy stuff like bread out to the table and that's low expectations. Now to the waiters credit he said he was bad tonight and we laughed and agreed.

Let me begin by saying we have been long-time customers for many years (15+). We gave it a 'pause' for a few reasons. 1) Being stared down to almost hurry us up, thus not a relaxing, stress-free experience at all. 2) a 2- hour limit? Really?? Frankly, we most likely would have spent more $ if we were allowed to stay. 3) the busboy was annoying. Constantly walking back and forth and staring at our table. I guess it isn't enough that the entire lounge area (bar and tables) were totally full and a major cash cow, and it wasn't enough $ to bring in to the house. It's simple really. Treat your guests like family, and come and check once in awhile to see how things are, instead of walking back and forth, to see what stage of our meal we're at. Let the hostess and servers and busboy do their jobs. This is a fine place. Food is ok, drinks are good, but the vibe is probably what brings people in. I hope some consideration will be given to this establishment's mode of operation. Guess we'll have to 'pause' once again, to see if things improve. Sigh!!
Be the first to ReplyAmateur Service and Poor Food Value
This place is obviously successful and I don't know why. $60 entrees with amateur service. At these prices I expect linen on the table, a table for four that is a table for four, not tables for 2 pushed together which is what the whole room is. The tables don't even match up so they're at different heights. Big rush by inexperienced bus staff to clear while we are still eating. Dirty silverware and appetizer plates, which by the way are just piled on the table. Too much effort to actually set the table? They expected you to reuse utensils after appetizer first course with no place to rest them except directly on the table. When we asked for fresh utensils, were told our waiter would have to do that. The bus boy didn't look old enough to be working and I wonder if he had any training. I've had better service at Friendly. Two phrases that waiters seem to use now are "of course" and "no worries". I find both to be very condescending, especially when used time and time again. Servers, please upgrade your game and stop using these 2 stupid phrases. They sound phony and I know for a fact many people feel the same way. Tips are better when you increase your vocabulary. The food is adequate but at these prices I expect more than adequate. Ambience is ho hum and reminiscent of an upscale cafeteria. Once again, this place seems quite successful. Maybe that's why owners are complacent to leave well enough alone. Good for them, but I will never come here again and suggest you find another establishment to spend your dining dollars.
Be the first to ReplyNormally Amazing....but
Been a customer for many years! We had dinner tonight...normally AMAZING but could tell there was a different chef and hopefully the owner decides to train him/her better! ....WAY too much oregano on the food which ruins it! Seafood...overcooked! Don't mind paying top price for excellent food, just expect it to be way better than the quality we received tonight when you're spending $300+!...very disappointed.

Perhaps you shouldn’t kick paying customers out after 2 hours. I’m appalled to ask for another round of overpriced drinks only to be told No, your time is up. We are paying customers. Never going there again!

What a delight the meal at Giumarello’s Restaurant & G Bar was to eat. Everything was absolutely stunning and delicious. Had Calamari Fritti, Thai Chili Mussels with Roasted tomatoes, shrimp, cilantro, sweet chili, coconut milk that was AWESOME, Frutti Di MareShrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat, clams and mussels simmered in our spicy red or white garlic sauce over linguine, Chicken marsala with crabmeat, and Salted Caramel Creme Brûlée.

Recently, our marketing agency celebrated its anniversary with a private party at Giumarello's Restaurant & G Bar in Haddon Township, New Jersey – cheers to 15 years! To put it simply, I could not be more pleased with the event outcome. From the fabulous food and drinks, to the outstanding service and stunning surroundings, General Manager, Frank Muratore, and his team of professionals ensured that every single detail was top-notch – from start to finish. Their recommendations regarding the menu, decorating, music, and more made the evening a night to remember. I cannot recommend them enough. – Amy Jo Haven-Reynolds, President, haven marketing

We had a terrible (Giumarello) dining experience. We personally gave gratuities for the valet, hostess, server assistant and bartender. Our main server Debbie (lounge area) was uneducated about the menu, inattentive and unfriendly. We were not happy about her service so I deliberately did not left her any gratuity. No utensils when the food runner served our main course. My husband iced tea were not filled. The only time she was quick was when she chased us and harassed my husband outside the valet area, embarrassed us in front of other guests asking us if we left her HER TIP or not! A server that provides poor service who still felt she deserves gratuity should not be working for this kind of restaurant. We will never come back to this poor managed restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyGood Old School Italian
My wife and I dined here for some classic Italian fare. As we were being seated, the hostess gave us a terse warning about a 2 hour COVID dining time limit. Great way to welcome diners and make them feel at home in your eatery! Indoor tables were nicely spaced with plexiglass screens between them. Our table was seriously wobbly. I would expect this type of furniture in a greasy spoon diner. We put these nits behind us and enjoyed a good Italian meal. Service was overly attentive, food was fresh and expertly prepared. Overall it was a good experience but a tad overpriced for the portion size.
