If you're dining in, make sure to get a ticket! It's a bit confusing for first time goers, but there's technically no line unless you're doing express takeout. Also, be prepared to wait if you're planning to go during rush hour. Minimum we waited 30 minutes, but it was worth well the wait. Now onto the food, I got the make your own bagel. It was amazing! Their classic lox was so buttery and smooth. I recommend getting their Bialy, but be fast since they run out throughout the day. There is a beautiful space outside for everyone to eat. I highly recommend getting brunch or breakfast here since it's just so beautiful. After, you can go to their goods store right next door to view some of their pottery, knick knacks and flowers.

The ambiance is fantastic, making it an ideal spot for lunch or dinner. The bakery offerings are excellent, though I do wish they had a wider range of gluten-free bread options. The pastries are delectable, as are the customizable bagels and sandwiches. A must-try is the pastrami by the pound, which comes with bread and your choice of sides.

Amazing sandwiches with everything possible plus special sauce I love coming here. They close early so get there and order first before wine tasting

I love the variety of choices and everything is fresh. The line is long so manage your time, but it is worth the wait
Be the first to ReplyBIG MISTAKE, HUGE.
I've never been made to feel like a second class citizen just to east breakfast. The food is just fine, looks better than it actually is. Even though half of my family was in line to order, they don't let you sit down until you place an order. And even once you have placed your order, no one helps you find an open table - chaos. The host made me and my family members leave a table and was extremely rude about it. They clearly need a better system to sit their customers and serve food in a timely fashion. They should not make customers feel bad about sitting at a table. There are plenty of other great restaurants in LA serving amazing food with great service. Also 20% service charge for rude people?!

The croissants were amazing and the latte was good, not great. The hall had lots of delis and served pasties, sandwiches, and snacks for those nearby the LAX office. I think the croissants are perfect. We had chocolate, plain, ham and cheese, and the baklava croissant. All were eaten for breakfast with nary a crumb after. Highly recommend if you are nearby!

I heard this place gets crazy crowded on weekends and it wasn't too bad especially since outside seating was closed due to weather. I loved seeing all the freshly baked bread and pastries right when you walk in. I go the baklava croissant and bread pudding, both were amazing, but I highly recommend the bread pudding and say yes when they ask you to heat it up. We shared the fish plate getting octopus, white fish, gravlax salmon, pastrami salmon, and salmon belly. I would say its necessary to get a side of the everything bagel and scallion cream cheese. They give you marinated tomatoes, red onion, capers, soft boiled egg, tahini, and lemon on the side. The best was the salmon belly, gravlax, and octopus. For me the white fish was too hard and fishy. I want to come back to try their lunch sandwiches, but overall good experience and will be back soon.

This is a great west side vibes location with all the offers of a well stocked bakery and restaurant. Enjoy the flavors and the people.

Food is amazing but the logistics of the operation are sub par. Their line is chaos, and their system for bringing food to tables doesn't seem to work robustly. Two of the three times I came here I had to actively hunt down my order. The space and food are so amazing, just a couple tweaks to their flow and this would be a fantastic restaurant .

I only gave it a 4star because they are not dog friendly in spite of the big outdoor patio for diners. This is Venice- people have more dogs than children but oh well... I come here for their ham and cheese croissants to go. So flaky and the ham is delicious. Better get there early though cuz they ran out fast- it's that good! We used to come here for breakfast but stopped because of the dog rule thingee. The food is great though- lots of healthy choices even though there are a lot of carbs around. It is still my favorite place for baked goods and sourdough bread. Some people complain that it's expensive- just deal with that because they do take care of their employees.

This is the kind of place that stays popular cuz it looks cool, but the photo I posted is what they'll give you after waiting in an outrageous line and asking for an "Italian." It's not just this one either, Google image search their sandwiches- they'll put a slice of ham on bread with a quarter-inch thick slice of tomato, charge you $20+ and you'll be sad. "Sopressata, mortadella, ham", absolute joke. With that said, my girlfriend sent me a build-your-own sandwich and she added everything I love to it. Delicious, but it was a $46 sandwich.

I brought my daughter to experience the deliciousness of Gjusta. Excellent service, perfect cappuccino and the tastiest pastries in town all made for a wonderful morning spent catching up. The patio has the best ambiance and is well mannered-pup friendly.

I absolutely loved this place! the food and atmosphere were amazing! Will be back. Service was also great!
Be the first to ReplyIs it expensive? Yes.
Is the service often garbage and slow? Yes. But does it taste really good and make you sad how it is actually worth it? Yes as well sadly. It's just really good food where you put up with the other BS.
Be the first to ReplyFood is mediocre.
Service is bad, bad. The number pulling thing is too cumbersome and people have to reach over and around you if you're near the number dispenser. Ordered a sandwich without mayo, sandwich was served with extra mayo. Ordered 14 dollar fries, they never came even after asking for them 3 separate times. Grabbing a table is a crapshoot, you could get stuck with food and no table to eat at.

Love this spot! Everything here is delicious, came here for lunch on a Saturday which is always a mad house. I decided to order take out and walk to the beach to eat which I recommend. Extremely relaxing and who doesn't love the beach Ordering process if you're looking to sit outside, you grab a ticket from the wall, order at the register then they'll give you a number and find a table outside. In my opinion it's worth the wait if you're not in a rush. The bread is delicious. I'd take a loaf home with you if they still have available.

The space is beautiful, and the place runs like a well-oiled machine. Quick service, attentive, efficient. I chose to build my own open-faced sandwich and it was just fantastic. Ate at the big bar/counter at the back. Would absolutely go back when it's warmer to sit outside on the huge patio.

I am surprised that this establishment has 3 1/2 stars, I wonder for what? This establishment did not show consideration or compassion for a first time customer who went in to buy a bakery item, there was a regular customer who also frequently visits this establishment by the way the staff including the managers & the owner himself who showed this regular customer who belittled the first time female customer by calling her horrible names because of her weight, because he the "Ken" who frequents this establishment accuses her of cutting in front of him when in fact he was 3 persons behind her. I am appalled that the owner and his management team would not apologize or even say anything to the victim of this ordeal. What is Venice turning into? I have lived in Venice in 58 yrs and this happened to my daughter. Please reconsider visiting this establishment especially if you are overweight, you may run into more "Ken's" like this one male who's behavior was uncalled for. I will not ever go visit this establishment just in case to not be treated as such! I only gave 1 star because there is no other option lower than 1 star.

Employees allowed a woman to get cut in line, body shamed, and let the man that cut her act aggressively towards her. Management or employees did nothing to stop it or help the lady out. Not even an apology. Pretty disappointed

A nondescript building but inside awaits a menu that will satisfy any craving. The ordering system is a bit unorganized...stand in line after you get a number from the machine attached to the wall. Wait your turn to place order. Food is delivered to your table. We recently stopped for lunch mid afternoon on a Sunday. Line to order was about 30 people long. Unfortunately only one cashier/order taker. This part made for a bit of chaos. Once we sorted out the system, the e wait allowed for ample time to find a printed menu besides read the posted menu (old school letter boards) above the lengthy counter. You also get to see the delicious (and tempting!) desserts, breads, fish, entrees, and other items.Step outside to snag a table on the patio. Plenty of seating which was nice given the crowd. A large glass bottle with water was on the table waiting for us The wait to get our sandwiches was minimal. I had the tomato confit (great vege choice) while friends had Reuben/corned beef and a grilled chicken. All we're excellent on in house baked bread. We also had the limeade for our drinks. Perfect as it was not sweet but tangy and a tad tart. Excited to return and explore the menu on a non weekend. The experience was all yum

Food- why does this place have 3 1/2 stars?! I give it a 100 out of 10. We ordered the shakshuka, best I've ever had (except my friend Sigal) and I've been all over Israel, all over LA and this is hand down the best shakshuka. We ordered the cinnamon babka- Lordy squishy in the middle, and crusty on the outside. Coffee - I drink it black and it went down smooth. Oooh I almost forgot the blueberry galette-- incredible. I could've ordered the whole galette! Service- patient- first time visit, the attendant gave us his recommendations and he was spot on, the wait staff - ready with a coffee refill, brought our food in a timely manner, offered to get us anything else we needed. Location- just beautiful- like a real European bakery set in Tuscany! Just beautiful. I'm coming back with friends this weekend:))

Be the first to ReplyFood is superb like always.
Through put the years that I've been here food quality hasn't changed. Service has improved. The ambiance is like you are in tapas house in Barcelona.

Let me start by saying that I have been a customer for many years. I have been here at least 40 times for breakfast and lunch. I have also been to their sister place Gjelina and the pick up next door. The food I must say is excellent. They good quality ingredients and the taste over for most of their food is to my liking. I might have tried a few things that may not have been my favorite but that is expected of any resturant. The reason I give the place 4 for is not because of the food, taste or quality. It's more so the service. I Get the same feeling at all 3 locations. It's that uneasy feeling you get when you feel like you are a bother, kinda like they do not seem to care, like why are you asking me a question or bothering me. I am not sure if I am describing it correctly but it is an uneasy feeling where it seems like they want to get you out or they don't even care if you stay. It's like you know how it is when someone thinks they are just bad ass and they just don't care. It's that Feeling. Let me clear the service is pretty good it's just the feeling you get.I also have an issue with a 20% service charge automatically being added. At Gjusta they even add that to the TOGO order. I am not sure is they haven't that here but probably yes. I have no problem paying a gratuity and I usually at least pay a 20% tip but when it's force5 for Food4 for ambiance3 for service
