Graduate Ann Arbor Reviews from The Last Year
It's ok. Just ok.
It's a "just ok" hotel. The good: Great location. Comfortable, clean bed. Good towels. Nice view. Quiet. Amazing staff at the front desk. Lovely people. The bad: Over decorated. I know this is their "schtick" but it was all too busy for my taste. This is solely a personal preference. Many will like and appreciate the vibe. For the price, not great amenities. The room could use a mini bar for snacks and drinks since the coffee bar is closed at night. No room service. The hotel is tired doesn't seem so clean. Furniture is too "worn" - in lobby and rooms. The biggest issue for me was the horrible odor of bad air freshener in my room. This was either Febreze or something similar. I had to open windows to air the room out when I got there. These kinds of cleaning products are noxious and uncomfortable. In defense of The Graduate Hotel, this property is used for school recruits and many stay for UMich events and games. Obviously there is a lot of traffic so it explains the wear and tear on the hotel. Perhaps a yearly "refresh" would serve well. I might stay there again but, in the meantime, I will look for another hotel that is better kept. I am not their demographic and I believe others will find The Graduate charming and just fine.
Disappointing
Hotel was located downtown but that was the only plus. Will not stay again and would not recommend to others for the price and service
This is a nice hotel.
The room was quiet despite being across the hall from the elevator. The decor is clever and stylish. The two things I'd suggest to change are: the room was supplied with terrible instant coffee and no tea; and the stairwell was not usable (both unappealing and did not provide non-emergency access to the exit floor).
Sewage smell, poorly maintained
The Graduate was a disappointment. The room was dirty in corners, had ripped and stained bed sheets, wallpaper in bad condition, and was poorly lit. It was poorly maintained. The bathroom sink water in our room smelled like sewage and we used water bottles to brush our teeth like we were in a developing country. The toilet also smelled like sewage. There was no light in the shower, which had black and green tile so it was impossible to see. The room was dusty and dirty and seemed as if it hadn't been used or properly cleaned in a while. We could hear our neighbors' every word. The HVAC didn't work well either so the room stayed at a freezing 66 degrees the whole time. I would never stay here again and don't recommend it.
One of the Worst "Nice" Hotels I have ever stayed at
The Graduate Ann Arbor is terrible. The hotel has become run down, dirty and unpleasant. The rooms are small, there is almost no storage — tiny closet, no dresser, etc. We lived out of suitcases on the floor. The bathrooms are tiny, plastic floored showers barely fit an adult, one small sink, no shelves or space for toiletries, etc. Valet is always backed up so leave lots of time to get your car. All in all way overpriced for what you get.
Fantastic change!
I last stayed at this hotel "building" when it was the Campus Inn. The building's skeleton hasn't changed but everything else has - and much for the better. Every change was well conceived. When you walk into the reception area you first feel like you have entered an old college hall. The reception area, hallways, and room wall decorations, the paint colors, the furniture ("what appears to be a 50 foot long law school library study table in reception") take you back to a prior era where university studying was paramount but enjoying one's self was also high on your list. The rooms are a nice size and provide nostalgic views ot the university campus. Check in and out was easy. I recommend that you valet your car. The valet attendants were great. All in all, I will be returing to the Graduate Inn soon and recommend you do.
Great stay
The Graduate Ann Arbor hotel exceeded all expectations! The standout was definitely the exceptional service by Moe, the valet. Courteous, efficient, and went above and beyond. Highly recommend both the hotel and Moe's top-notch service!
Great stay
My stay at the Graduate was great although it is a bit pricey though. The front desk was very accommodating and the valet staff was exceptional. Justin and Moe were a great team!
We had a good stay at Ann Arbor
The hotel was very close to where we wanted to visit! The hotel staff was very help and friendly. They answered all of questions. Moe and Justin were great!! They took great care of our vehicle and they also answered all of the questions we had!
Perfecr boutique hotel
Love this boutique hotel. Perfect for our visit to UMich. Clean. Friendly staff. Love the decor jn room and public areas

Love love love this hotel! It's beautifully decorated and perfectly located within walking distance of just about anywhere you'd want to go. Service was also top notch. We had issues setting up the pull out bed and someone immediately came up and helped. This place is also very pet friendly and allowed our 80lb goldendoodle to stay. Upon checking in, they gave us a very nice blanket for our pup along with a water bowl and mat. We'll definitely be back and will stay here again!
We had a fantastic stay at the graduate.
A dog friendly stay and the perfect location to explore Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan! My pup got lots of attention from the staff and other guests and we both had a cozy stay
Discovered this gem this week.
They hosted a Mammoth whiskey event. So much fun! We arrived early and had a cocktail - they've got a very fun sazerac on the menu that I'm going to need to go back for again and again. Armando and Kayla (I hope I spelled their names correctly!) behind the bar could not have been friendlier or more generous with their knowledge. Are you a townie wondering why you'd head into a local hotel? Well that was me until I did - and I'll be returning. Go! They won't disappoint!
My family was staying here over the weekend when we were
My family was staying here over the weekend when we were visiting Michigan for my cousin's wedding. They have great turndown service, and they were respectful of our belongings. I shared a room with my cousin Chloe, and we had two queen-sized beds. That came with more closet space. The only thing that I would change about the rooms would be to add drawers or more closet space. I honestly didn't love living out of my suitcase especially since we were in for a nice event. I also have a few things to say about the in-hotel dining area. The coffee is great and they have a lot of delicious quick on the go things for when you're in a hurry. I do like the dining in the restaurant. I ordered the scrambled eggs with bacon and home fries. I could have just done with the bacon and eggs because there were too many potatoes. The eggs were cooked EXACTLY the way I like them to be which is rare so I was very happy. The bacon was also great. My sister ordered the avocado toast which didn't look appealing at all, though. There were two pieces of bread that were really really thick with two very small slices of avocado on each and enough tomatoes to fill a bowl. It was honestly very strange. The avocados weren't mashed, and they give almost no avocado at all. My sister ended up cutting a piece of bread in half and combining the avocados onto that piece mushing them (which is how they're supposed to come with salt, pepper, and lemon or lime juice) and added a few of the tomatoes. Overall there were just a few things that I would have changed about my experience but overall I think I had a really nice stay and the hotel is beautiful and funny at the same time. Parking was also pretty great and easy. While my family stayed here, we were also given a 10% off card each for the restaurant and coffee services. That was nice.
As with the other locations of this chain, this is a
As with the other locations of this chain, this is a wonderful hotel. Professional staff, off street parking, high end bar, comfy rooms...and all in the heart of academia. This is our second time here, and we will be back. While the venue is pricier than other choices nearby, it's worth the extra funding. Check out the special offers like cookies and milk delivered to the room at night, etc... Even for those of us who cheer for other schools' sports teams, we will end of being a fan of whatever Graduate property we are lucky enough to check into. Rah rah rah! Boola boola. Go Graduate!

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
