Decent lunch from set menu
We enjoyed a pleasant and inexpensive lunch from the set menu at one of the outside tables. Service was friendly but a little slow.
Be the first to ReplyLovely Food, Crazy Service
I visited with a friend for a late lunch. The restaurant was not very busy, but it took ages for a waiter to take our drinks order. Eventually we ordered a martini and a gin and tonic. We offered to order the food as well and did so, but I specifically asked that the starters not be brought to the table until we had finished our drinks. The waiter replied, “Of course”. A good while later, our drinks hadn’t arrived but our starters did! We politely sent them back and asked for our drinks. I spotted our waiter then sprinting to the bar to get them. We had taken but a couple of sips of our newly arrived drinks, when the starters arrived again! We politely sent them back once more and said we would like to finish our drinks. This time we did and the starters arrived for the third and final time. Our fishcake starters were absolutely delicious. As they arrived, we asked for two glasses of Picpoul de Pinet to enjoy with them. We finished our starters but, sadly, the wine didn’t arrive. Our main course did though. We politely enquired about the wine and told them not to bother now because the Picpoul would not be suitable for our Shepherd’s Pie main course. I asked for a glass of Merlot. We were finally informed the Picpoul had never been ordered and that my glass of wine was now on the house to apologise for the mistake. This was very kind of them and much appreciated and our main course was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the absolutely delicious food, but the service seemed very flustered and out of control. I did try to email or ring the restaurant directly to offer my feedback privately, but they don’t offer an option for this. The food at The Granary Square Brasserie is absolutely lovely, but be prepared for a bit of an effort in getting your favourite drinks with the appropriate course of your meal!

Be the first to ReplyBusy brunch shift that didn't meet expectations...
Being part of the Ivy group and located in a prime spot in Kings Cross I thought that Granary Square Brasserie would be a "safe bet" for two families coming together for Breakfast/Brunch. Upon booking you are asked to book seats for the number of people in your party; including highchairs. We requested a booking for 7 including 2 highchairs. Our party was 3 adults, 2 children and 2 toddlers. I was called up two days before the booking to confirm and to further confirm that we needed a table of 7. Upon arrival the restaurant was very full and we were placed on a table of 6 with both highchairs squeezed on the end. Whilst this "fitted" it meant it was extremely cramped and both the toddlers didn't have adequate room when the plates (which per below were adult sized dining plates and not small children's plates) were in front of them. It was disappointing because we had been asked to book a table of 7, which we did, yet this wasn't facilitated and we were told we couldn't move to another table due to how busy it was. It was also very apparent that there was a shortage of staff and getting attention was very difficult. The waiting staff were all very nice and very helpful I should add they were just clearly trying to wait on more tables than they were able to. There is no children's menu for breakfast (on the website it states a children's menu is available on request you can't see it online) and the waitress informed us that the children's meals they could make were "sausages and mash or pasta". This was at 10am - those options are not really suitable for that time of day. The children ate off the adult menu but this is an expensive solution when there could easily be a small children's breakfast offered alongside the adult food. The adult food in itself was fine - it all came together and tasted fine but compared to all the other restaurant choices in Granary Sq / Coal Drops it wouldn't be somewhere I would come back to. Our bill was not overly expensive considering there were 7 of us dining but sadly based on the above experience I would not return. Perhaps we came on a bad/busy day but there are better options nearby.

We all enjoyed our orders. Our waiter, Tony, was very attentive. Reasonable prices. My title sums it up, great place and will be returning. It's a reliable branch of the Ivy chain.
Be the first to ReplyGreat time had by all
This was my first visit to this restaurant and was awed by the ambience and buzz of the venue. Had a wonderful meal and the service was excellent. The staff made my birthday celebrations very special especially Roberto, Stefano and Gabrielle. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return
Be the first to ReplyAn interesting take on a classic
Looking at the place, location, decor and all, it would appear to be The Ivy. And, while it is part of the chain and shares the whole concept, the menu is interestingly inexpensive and satisfying. A nice option for a dinner that is meant to be special in a serious, businesslike occasion.

Somewhere i go regularly as its perfect for meeting friends centrally in town. I was delighted to get the seat we requested on booking, as I’m recovering from surgery and wanted to be tucked away. I ordered the monkfish and prawn curry. I was very underwhelmed. It attracts a premium price on the main course menu. I had 2 pieces of monkfish. And one was still attached to the skin & sinew. Really nasty . Maybe i was unlucky today but I certainly won’t order it again. For the price it was very poor value. I told the server, but as i had eaten most of the curry (saved the monkfish to last!), there wasn’t much he could do . Please chefs , check your fish filleting before serving
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service in busy King's Cross
We dined at 5:45, meaning we got the reasonably priced* set menu. I had fish cakes with a delicious mustard sauce followed by delicious sea bass for main, followed by exotic ice cream with brownie. *I classed the restaurant as mid-range because of the set menu. All this in a most elegant environment - pictures of plants and animals on a cerulean background with a bar in the centre in glass and brass. It was busy but the service still managed to be first class and personal.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional birthday celebration in the Stirling Room
We celebrated a 70th birthday with family in the Stirling Room (private dining). Everything was wonderful - organisation (Agne), service (Gabriel), food, location, decor. The team did an amazing job - I thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a private event.
Be the first to ReplySpoilt with food choice!!!!!
GREAT FOOD!!! Spoilt with choice when it came to food, our waiter Alessandro or Alessandro004 according to him was superb. Great sense of humor, helpful and very patient, when deciding what to eat. Stunning decor, great location - been before and would certainly go again.
Be the first to ReplyGood meal in attractive, comfortable surroundings
Really good meal in this attractively decorated/furnished restaurant. Food choices were varied with something for everyone. The waiting staff, particularly, Yo Yo, were attentive and friendly. Would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance - excellent staff.
Had a nice lunch after a visit to David Hockney Exhibition. Arrived on spec and were found a place within 20 Min. The staff were very good. My wife enjoyed her Salmon but I found the Steak disappointingly tough but I didn't complain.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, brilliant service and a good venue.
Top quality restaurant - highly recommended - we enjoyed everything we ordered. A special mention for Alessia and Gabriele who served us brilliantly and when we had a small problem they took it very seriously and resolved it with grace and attentiveness.

Extremely busy and we had to wait for our table but the staff did place our luggage in a secure area. The menu was quite extensive and the food was very good.
Be the first to ReplyA joyless experience
I don’t usually write bad reviews, preferring to just never set foot in a rubbish restaurant again but as this is part of a chain I generally like, I think it’s worth sharing my experience. We were greeted by a surly receptionist but got a table in five minutes. There then followed a dizzying number of servers, not one of them in any way friendly or welcoming. Food was dumped on the table and then removed without being asked if we were finished. Although there were staff everywhere, it proved nigh on impossible to get any vinegar. It was also difficult to get past the huddle of staff blocking the entrance to the loos. The loos were grubby with toilet paper on the floor and a bin so full there were used tampons sticking out of it. We asked for the bill and paid it to a man with a man bun who didn’t bother looking at me during the whole exchange. So, although the food was good, I won’t be going back to this branch, having had so many much better experiences elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyStunning restaurant
Have eaten here on three occasions and have throughly enjoyed each one of them. Located in a newly developed area between King’s Cross and St Pancras which is stunning in itself. Beautiful decor, food and service. What you would expect as part of Ivy. Obviously not cheap but worth it especially for special occasions. My only slight criticism is that the music last night was rather loud which made it difficult to hear out times

Came here for daughters birthday today. I am giving this a 3 star rating due to the service as the food was good and I would rate that 4 star. We ordered starters and a few minutes later the waiter advised me that the chef was unhappy with the parfait so could I order something else. I ordered the squid however they brought the starters out for my brother and daughter. They didn't want to start and wanted to wait for me..i kept telling them to start eating and after 7 or 8 mins they did. My startet then came out and they had finished by the time I started to eat. They should have brought all the food out at same time and i was surprised at this. They seated us by the windows where the breakfast people were seated however filled the other side with lunch diners. There were very few wait staff in our section and the other side was packed. It took ages for them to clear out plates and bring our food. The food was lovely however the service spolied it. My daughter wanted to complain but as it was her birthday i thought I would just write a review and not cause any issues.

Be the first to ReplyI love this place
I've been to Granary Square Brasserie a few times and every single time it was a wonderful experience. Everyone who works there is helpful, professional, and nice! The food is delicious, the drinks great. Prices are a bit high, so I wouldn't go there every weekend for lunch, but it's definitely a place to go if you want to treat yourself, celebrate something or have a more fancy lunch/dinner. No matter what your diet is, you'll find something in the menu for yourself. Perfect for a meeting with friends, business one or a date!

Ate here with friends. Outside table looking into the square. The menu has something for everyone with some relaxed informal dishes sitting well alongside the more full on dishes. Food was tasty but not superb I would certainly go back but if in the area

Went here for lunch and it started not great with a very poor service on entry. Confusion reigned supreme and continued to do so throughout. Food was ok but only ok. Not much of an atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful ambience
Food and ambience is superb. It’s my 3rd visit here. Tempura prawns were spot on as were the courgette frites and the bread. This visit I had the fish and chips. This was cooked to perfection. The food is reasonably priced. They make their money on the drinks which are highly priced. But It is a beautiful restaurant.
