A Fabulous Afternoon of Tea
The ambience of this place is beautiful with all the crystal chandeliers. The couches were comfortable and the food service was excellent. The only concern was that when I booked they didnโt tell me that when you book you automatically get the Prince of Wales tea. Some of the party did not want that option and so there was a concern with the management. The food service manager was able to help us out of which we were very grateful because some in the party had dietary restrictions. Once that was done, the service was impeccable. The choice of teas was amazing and we wish that we couldโve brought the tea home with us. The food was inventive and used many different ingredients. It was definitely a wonderful afternoon, and I would highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyBad Service
The Christmas Day meal service at Baccarat Hotel was a complete let down. The food was bland, and the service was incredibly slow. For the high prices charged, I expected a memorable dining experience, but unfortunately, it was anything but that. I won't be returning for another festive occasion.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible Afternoon Tea Service - Go to the Plaza Hotel instead
This is a review of the Baccarat Hotel Afternoon Tea Service at the Grand Salon. I write this review in comparison to the Afternoon Tea Service at the Plaza Hotel in NY that we went to a few weeks ago. The Baccarat Hotel afternoon tea service is not only much worse than the afternoon tea at the Plaza Hotel, but is also quite atrocious and not worth the expense such that I would absolutely suggest going to the Plaza Hotel instead. Firstly, they bring everything out on a three tiered tray together (whereas the Plaza Hotel brings out the scones and sandwiches/second course first and then desserts separately). They don't change out the plates such that you are expected to eat the mini sandwiches on the same plate where you have some jam perhaps and crumbs from the scones, and then you are expected to eat the dessert on the same plate as the second course and the scones! We had to flag down a waiter and ask for new plates. The scones and jam were decent. One of the sandwiches was simply a ham and cheese with no flavor. The chocolate cake on the vegan menu was absolutely atrocious: it was dry and crumbly with muted flavor; it was inedible. The fruit puree on the vegan dessert plate was not tasty at all, and the cashew cream dessert has a really off flavor such that it too was not tasty at all. The vegan pastry chef has no talent at the Baccarat Hotel. By contrast, the vegan desserts at the Plaza Hotel afternoon tea were so delicious and decadent, you would never even know they are vegan! The non-vegan, regular desserts at the Baccarat Hotel afternoon tea service were not very good either. One was a dried up pink cookie of sorts that was on the crispy side. It didn't taste good. The jello looking mouse wasn't very good--we've had much better at fine restaurants. It was nothing special. Any French patisserie in the city would have tastier, better desserts. Lastly, the service was not very attentive. The waiters barely came by. No one asked if we needed anything or how we are doing. The waiter basically dropped off the three tier afternoon tea tray and disappeared. When we sat down, we got our tea first and then waited another 10-15 minutes for them to bring the food tray such that our tea had cooled by the time the scones, sandwiches, etc., and desserts arrived all together! The lobby area where the tea is served is beautiful, but the level of service and quality of the afternoon tea items do not warrant the price, and the experience is not so enjoyable at the Baccarat Hotel afternoon tea. By contrast, at the Plaza Hotel the service and quality of the afternoon tea food items is divine both on the regular and vegan menu, making the experience delightful and worth every penny and then some. In short, if you want an afternoon tea experience, do you not go to the Baccarat Hotel. I highly recommend the Plaza Hotel (or anywhere else) instead.
Be the first to ReplyOh those chandeliers!!!
I came back due to my first visit back in 2019 pre-covid. I had a great time and it made an impression on me despite that it was a bit pricey for the food offered. The place is beautiful with gorgeous chandeliers all over the Salon. Quite fancy for an afternoon tea , but it had a lovely ambiance that one has to experience once in their lifetime. Food was ok, nothing really special but just the experience was enough for one to visit. Come for the ambiance and the gorgeous chandeliers and youโll be enchanted.
Be the first to ReplyLovely space but afternoon tea service was very slow, not worth the hefty price.
Enjoyed afternoon tea service and while the tea and three-tiered tray came out relatively quickly, finding anyone to refill our water glasses and/or order a glass of champagne was surprisingly difficult. Waiters were all very nice, professional, knowledgeable, and there were lots of them, but our water glasses sat empty for 20 minutes before we asked someone to refill them. We ordered a glass of champagne from two separate people and it arrived another 20 minutes later. The scones were amazing, and the rest of the food was nice, but again, given the price, it wasn't worth it. Finally, the host was far from welcoming. Shockingly rude, kept us waiting when it was clearly unnecessary, was cold, brusque, and unhelpful. Given the cost of tea service, this is just unacceptable.

Great place to dine for quality food and conversation, incredible decor, amazing customer service; reservations are strongly encouraged if you are not staying at the hotel
Be the first to ReplyWhatever you do - donโt eat here :(
Lobby refused to let my friend take the elevator to the restaurant where I was already seated and waiting and despite her saying she had a dinner reservation. After a lot of back and forth - like 10 minutes - she was finally escorted to the table. Tomato soup - bland - taste like out of a can. The table next to us had the same problem (taken off the bill). Seafood soup - bland. Sea bass - bland and fish tasted raw. Scallop risotto - bland, fishy and inedible. Left almost untouched. Indicated that the reservation was for a birthday. Got a surprise dessert (way too sweet) with a candle and โhappy anniversaryโ written on the plate. Wait staff was nice enough but not existent most of the time. My friend had to wait a long time and make a 2nd request for her $12 small cup of cafe americano. After I made a comment to the waiter about the tomato soup, no other questions were asked about the rest of the meal. He just disappeared. Quite disappointing especially for the price point. Note for the restaurant: hire a new chef asap.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance and excellent high tea
Impressive cozy atmosphere. Menu offers both high tea and other dishes. The high tea selection is gourmande, the food (we tried a lobster roll and an hamburger) is done to perfection. We where there celebrating an anniversary, but we didnโt say anything to anyone, except that while sitting down I mentioned that we wanted to let one of us chose the table as it was his anniversary, and the staff was so efficient and attentive that at the end they brought as a chocolate mousse on a plate with written โhappy anniversaryโ, a special touch we appreciated.
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous setting but not impeccable
I went with my daughter and teenage grandkids to the Grand Salon. We had early dinner. Food was delicious and worth the pricing. Coffee and water were overpriced. We were waited on "profusely" - very attentive and courteous staff - until the bill was handed to us. I put my CC in there, everything went smoothly, got my final bill; I put the adequate tip and left the bill jacket on the table while we were sitting and finishing our coffees. In no time, a waiter comes over and snatches the bill jacket before we were done with our coffees, or even showed the intention of leaving. The Salon was almost empty, i.e. we didn't hinder somebody's turn to have a meal or a drink. It never happened to me, even in the simplest restaurants in NYC. The missing star was for Etiquette!

Be the first to ReplyExcellent ambiance
One of the many reasons I like to stay in this hotel is the Bar and the Grand Salon. Always a nice fresh breakfast and good service in a really great ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyLunch with colleagues
We had an amazing time during our lunch at the Baccarat Grand Salon. The food is amazing and the service outstanding. Chef Ali was kind enough to stop by and share some of his amazing achievements. The Food and Beverage Management team was also very attentive, ensuring our experience was excellent. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this place if you'd like to experience luxury at its finest.
Be the first to ReplyA favorite for wine dinners and business lunches
I live in the city, and come to visit Christian and the team regularly. They always provide exceptional service and attention to detail. The wine list is filled with rarities and every day gems. The Grand Salon is spacious and the setting is excellent for everything from entertaining out of town clients, to hosting groups of friends.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent ambiance
The Grand Salon is representative of the style of the hotel. I enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel each morning and the place is opulent and well appointed. Recommended.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible and Overall Tea
Terrible and Overpriced Tea
Extremely disappointed in the afternoon tea at Baccarat Hotel. The Grand Salon is absolutely stunning and the Baccarat crystal glasses an elegant touch. Sadly, the food is simply terrible. The savory sandwiches were inedible. Ham and cheese was served on stale bread, egg salad tart was tasteless, the lobster roll was served on a stale bun and the lobster meat was fishy, the foil gras macaron truly so awful I had to spit it out. The scones were large and heavy and looked unappetizing and the pastries very underwhelming with simple decoration. At $110 a person this is outrageous. Avoid this tea and food at Grand Salon Baccarat. Itโs actually insulting to be charged this price. I recently had tea at The Lanesborough in London and it was exquisite in every way. A true work of art. The chef needs training and to step up the tea presentation and food. Tea for 2 with 2 glasses of champagne was $300.
Never again.
Champagne and Crystal -- the best of both
It's easy to miss the Baccarat on West 53rd Street, mostly surrounded by MOMA, but that would be a mistake. The restaurant offers real treats, not to be missed, There's a nice selection of champagne, recognizable names, some at surprisingly affordable prices, excellent food -- caviar, foie gras, delicious salmon -- also affordable, along with some other affordable wines by the glass (not to mention a Lafitte Rothschild) all in a Baccarat crystal ambience. First rate service, starting with an alert doorman, and excellent servers, completes the picture. Other than the bill (definitely not trivial) I had no complaints -- other than the number of candles on my virtual birthday cake.
Be the first to ReplyPretty room... awful afternoon tea
Came to have tea with my 13 year old daughter. Was told that I had to pre-arrange the Children's Petit tea. No accommodations made and never advised that this was the case when I booked or when they called to confirm. Really disappointing. She and I have had afternoon tea all over the world - most recently at the Ritz in Paris (which was fantastic). This place doesn't hold a candle to it. Stale sandwiches, mediocre sweets. Tea was ok but no milk was offered for my chai. Overall REALLY disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing Tea
Save your money!!!! The food and the service at the Baccarat Hotel Grand Salon Afternoon Tea was OKAY at best. (Iโve been to Harrods in London and the Ashford Castle in Ireland. Both of these places had better food and service and were less expensive.). The scones were overcooked, overly sweet and all the same flavor. The smoked salmon came on a stale cracker and the vegetable tart was so small that the only discernible flavor was the crust. (It looked and tasted as though it came from a pack of frozen cocktail snacks.). The โ lobster rollโ was more bun than filling. The service was also disappointing for a 5 star hotel. At first our waitress was attentive but once we ordered and the tea arrived, I think she forgot we were behind her. When we were finished, the man clearing the table was the one who got us our bill and took payment since our waitress was no where in sight. I reached out to the food and beverage director. He replied to my email and offered to discuss my concerns. Sadly he never contacted me. I will NOT be returning.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful Baccarat!
After a perfect day walking/matinee performance of "Hamilton", we loved our light dinner starting with a glass of Tattinger champagne of course served in Baccarat. Gorgeous room embellished with magnificent chandeliers! The dessert course was a tiered tray of tiny treats, all one bite delights.
Be the first to ReplyA Grand Experience in an Exquisite Salon
Always a treat to dine in the Grand Salon or simply enjoy a glass of champagne after a busy day. Incredible service, fabulous champagne selection, gourmet dining and of course an opportunity to enjoy an amazing beverage served in a crystal baccarat glass.
Be the first to ReplyWe stopped by for a respite
We stopped by for a respite from the snow for cocktails. The room is lovely,
Service excellent and while expensive the cocktails were well crafted and I enjoyed a rose which was a nice vintage and generous pour. What could be better then enjoying a leisurely libation in Baccarat. As a constructive suggestion the
Corn nuts could be replaced with a more appropriate nosh at such a lovely spot.
Underwhelming Afternoon Tea
My sister and I have been to over thirty afternoon teas (many in NYC), and this was by far the absolute worst. The pastries from the Prince of Wales option were stale and the desserts bland. Also, I requested a vegetarian selection in advance and was flabbergasted to find that my savories featured grilled cheese, avocado toast, and a cracker with cream cheese. Perhaps more egregious is that when our waiter brought the selection to our table, he described my savories as โbread with avocado and... some other things.โ For $90, I should think they can come up with something better than grilled cheese and at least be able to tell me what Iโm eating. My sis (not a vegetarian) enjoyed the caviar but was just as uninspired as I with the rest. Needless to say, we will not be back for tea or anything else at Baccarat.

Very stylish unfortunately no reservations for non residents possible.
But if you are once in just great experience huge wine list and very nice food from well known chef Gabriel Kreuther
Unforgettable, Flawless Experience
From the reservation to our arrival to our beautiful window table, our afternoon tea at Baccarat was exceptional. The champagne and tea selection was wonderful. The Grand Salon is quiet, serene, and exemplifies all of the elegance that should accompany fine afternoon tea. All of the sweet and savory treats exceeded our expectations and tasted even better than they looked. The scones arrived at our table warm with delicious clotted cream and jelly. It was truly a beautiful experience in an equally stunning setting, looking forward to coming again!
