Don't bother making a reservation here, apparently it is meaningless. They cut our group of 15 loose last minute on a Saturday night claiming a last minute buyout, ruining the bachelor/bachelorette party we had planned. Take a pass and find a place that will understand the concept of a reservation.

Stepping into the cozy confines of this piano bar is like entering a realm where time slows and worries melt away. The warm glow of dimmed lights sets the stage for an evening of musical enchantment. As the pianist's fingers dance across the keys, each note fills the air with a captivating melody, weaving a tapestry of nostalgia and joy. Patrons are greeted with attentive service and a carefully curated selection of libations, perfectly complementing the elegant atmosphere. Whether you're savoring a solo performance or joining in a sing-along with newfound friends, this piano bar exudes an ambiance that lingers long after the last chord fades away.
Be the first to ReplyRediculous drink prices.
Four drinks with their automatic 21% tip came to $100, including $23 alone for a standard old fashioned that they charge $10 at happy hour. I love live piano but it also was way too loud with the acoustics. Service was good and I liked the dark vibes though.
Be the first to ReplyI celebrated a milestone birthday in NYC & THE CHI.
Hip Hop and are the same age and I wanted to represent for the culture, movement, and LOVE of Hip Hop. My girl ordered a cake and we celebrated there. I was happy to be celebrated but maybe would have chose a different place. Ambiance was very bar..there was a lady signing songs while playing the piano. Not bad... LMFAO.. she even attempted to do Gin & Juice.....Laid back... with my mind on my money...and my money on my mind!!! Kudos to her for that. When it was time for her to sing Happy Birthday.... She kept saying the wrong name....well that's Fuqd...The cake was brought out to me and she sang to someone else..... Hilarious!

Really awful , both me and my friends drink tasted like a club drink and after they were able to switch mine out we were told the establishment closed at 12 so last call was at 11:30 . And they promptly gave us the bill with a 21% mandatory tip charge! Have you ever heard oof a mandatory tip ? The reason this place got two stars was 1 for the ambience inside reminded me of a nice La bar we went to called mr nice guy before , the other reason is my drink which they switched out to a whisky sour tasted okish

We literally stumbled upon this gem while walking back to our hotel. The live music piqued our interest so we took a peek inside...and ended up closing down the place! Turns out we stumbled upon pure gold...a bar that specializes in wine, whiskey & cocktails with live music most every night...where has G&G been all my life?! There were a few people ahead of us waiting to be seated--but it didn't take long to get two spots at the bar. While we waited, the One Tree Hill theme song by Gavin DeGraw started and we knew it was going to be a great end to our night! We were treated to the vocal and piano stylings of one very talented Laura Cai. Throughout the evening we were able to request songs via Venmo. The cocktails were on point--really decent selection of bourbon and whiskey.
Be the first to Replythe ambiance is here would make for a perfect date night.
there was live music, red moody lighting, and a beautiful bar. for the food, options are limited. this place acts as a cocktail bar primarily, but you can order some light bites like charcuterie, hummus, or beef carpaccio. the combination charcuterie was delicious and i particularly loved the quince jam it came with. service was mixed. the bartender (jen) came up to our table immediately upon arrival to ask about what kinds of drinks we liked. she made us custom cocktails and all were delicious! on the other hand, we had to ask to order food from our server. overall, it was good! the place was fairly empty for a thursday night. there were only three tables full at 8pm while the surrounding restaurants were packed, but maybe it comes to life later!

The ambience, service, and staff are nothing short of exceptional - they consistently exceed a five-star rating! With a diverse range of offerings, their extensive drinks menu is a treat (be sure to sample the old fashioned) complemented by delectable bites. It's the perfect spot to relax, revel in live music, and savor delightful drinks amidst a welcoming atmosphere. A visit is an absolute must, and you'll undoubtedly be drawn back for the incomparable vibes it offers!

Loved every bit of picking songs and them playing and singing them. 2 diff pianists. They had so many diff songs and played every genre. They have small charcuterie boards and such. Mainly for drinking and good vibes.

My partner and I dropped into Grapes & Grains for drinks on a Thursday afternoon. We were able to get a table in the main area with a nice view of the piano. The music was quite loud for my liking and made it difficult to hold any conversation let alone order anything. Our server, however, was friendly and quick to place our drink order. They were attentive throughout, checking in to see if we needed anything else. Despite the excessively loud music, our visit to Grapes & Grains was enjoyable and the drinks were good.

What amazing service. Beverage program is phenomenal. Rare Whisky & bourbon galore here and great service. Can't recommend his place enough.

My fiancé and I visited Friday evening, thought we could walk in without reservations but you definitely do need reservations. There is also a $10 cover fee staring 7 pm (I believe), even with reservations. The guy at the reception counter was able to get us seated even without reservations, which was greatly appreciated. What made this place unique was the live music which was amazing! To be honest, I was expecting a more lowkey, romantic vibe but as the night went on, it got rowdier. This is because you're able to request the artist to play any song you like. That's okay, though, everyone was having a good time! We also ordered a bottle of wine and a cheese board. I enjoyed all the cheeses, so it definitely hit the spot. The total came up to around $110, which imo is pretty pricey for just wine and cheese but we still had a good time!

Created for the wine & whiskey connoisseur, GG embodies a prohibition-era interior with candlelit, red and incandescent lighting that creates a lovely ambience for dates and mature friends who enjoy the quieter settings, but also serves as a piano bar on weeknights. Music typically starts after 8pm and features a pianist who will play any song you desire (with a tip involved). If you have a request be ready to tip 10-20$. Make sure to make a reservation to secure seating && come sing your heart out!We visited before 8pm and the bar was practically empty. Sticking to mostly the wine and cocktails menu, I recommend:REDS* Unshackled the Prisoners' Wine Co. - easy to drink, sweeter* La JassineCOCKTAILS* Hot Chai in the City - perfect winter drink, very boozy* GG's House SourBar & staff members are classy and super experienced at what they do. This is a private business and not affiliated with the bar & restaurant groups around town. Thus, you can expect personable conversations and more attention to detail here. Definitely going to visit again!

Grapes & Grains is a gem in west loop and I hope it sticks around. It's a classy piano bar that has nailed the ambiance on the head. Perfect for date night, pre dinner drinks or post dinner drinks for a relaxed night. They serve small bites and craft cocktails. I can't remember what my drink was called but my boyfriend ordered bad medicine and we shared a delicious cheese board before dinner. We were the first ones to open up the bar that day however we were welcomed warmly and the pianist began around 6/6:30pm after which the crowd started rolling in. The pianist is great and takes requests via Venmo tips. Even while she is playing it isn't too loud, the ambiance remains friendly to being able to hear conversation. We met a friend there that we were catching up with. Our waiter was attentive to our orders and quite talented with the way he was able to set the extremely full cocktails onto our table. I look forward to returning and trying their fall inspired cocktails!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing experience.
FANTASTIC service. Live music is bomb and the drinks were super tasty. Pro tip, If you make a reservation you get a small welcome glass of champagne!
Be the first to ReplyI had no preconceived notion about this place.
I knew they had some craft cocktails and somebites but that was it. When I say we were served the BEST cocktails I have ever had is no exaggeration. We were able to sample several bourbon cocktails. The Texas Praline was so balanced and delicious, it's something you can't get anywhere else. Every single one we sampled (5 total) were outstanding!! Bobby is truly a gifted bar man. We have never been so impressed. You need to go! The piano entertainment was super fun too and we had a wonderful charcuterie board and dessert! The staff also worked as a team and we never had to ask for anything!
Be the first to ReplyLove the ambiance of this cocktail bar.
Bourbon cocktails are amazing. Had the Texas Praline that was TDF!! Loved sitting at the bar and chatting with the bartender. Will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyIt was our first time here.
The service was horrible & the wait for the food was just ridiculous. It was not that busy. We went for our friend's birthday. I had to go up to the bar to order a round of drinks for our table, which our server then acknowledged and took my order. I asked to please bring out a dessert for our friend I asked 2 different servers (which were both serving us) at least twice. It came out when we were getting ready to leave. It's sad the service is so bad. The food is fairly decent. There are way better restaurants with much better service. Maybe she was just having a bad day. The gentleman that was helping her was really sweet. He was more on top of it.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location with tons of charm.
Love the garage doors with a breeze and view of the city. My group enjoyed the drinks, particularly the aperol spritz. A paid reservation for live music gets you a half glass of champagne and guaranteed seating for the night's performance. Great quality acts, but know that it's going to be hard for any conversation at your table. Was bummed that the kitchen closed at 10:30, so didn't get to try the charcuterie and cheese board, which sounded delicious.

My first visit there and I am IN LOVE with this magical place. The venue is super cute and classy. Was immediately warmly greeted by the staff. Amanda doesn't just make good cocktails she definitely sprinkles some extra magic in them.I was so excited when I saw they had Saganaki on the menu and that was the best flaming cheese I've ever had in my damn life. The musicians they had performing live on the piano are super freaking talented and Chris puts on a show that is 1000% always about the audience and making them happy.I wish I had known about this gem sooner! I seriously can't wait to go back.
Be the first to ReplyI was honestly really excited to try this place but very
I was honestly really excited to try this place but very disappointed. I made a reservation online which included $10 reservation fee per person to be seated in the "live music section." When we arrived, the place was much smaller than expected. My first impression was that it was insanely loud inside. I could not hear the person sitting directly next to me even when yelling. For a self proclaimed speakeasy, I expected a much more laid back and enjoyable vibe. I asked two different staff members to turn down the volume twice as it was honestly so unbearable and they turned it down for 2 minutes before turning it back up to louder than before. I asked if there was another section we could sit at as we were in the "live music section" and not enjoying the blasting loud music but was told there is no other seating... I have no idea what exactly I paid an extra $10 per person for when I could've walked in and sat at any of the many available tables. I will say that the staff was nice and the musicians were talented but the incredibly loud sound that they turned the speakers up to really ruined the experience. I definitely won't be back but I would recommend they turn the music down a lot and go for a more jazz type of artist if they advertise themselves as a speakeasy.

Found this place by chance on a Friday night at around 8pm and freaking loved this place!! Ambience was absolutely insane with soft lighting and live music. The guy behind the piano was taking song requests and just super great at making sure everyone was having a good time. The cocktails are divine, we got the French 38 and the Winter Sangria. Such a great place for after dinner drinks and we're so glad we walked in the door!

Things to expect from Grapes and Grains: Good food, great wine AND live music!Grapes and Grains has a beautiful lounge space, great for live music, and offers a fantastic list of whiskeys and wines from around the world. This would be a great date night spot!I took advantage of the Galentine's special that was offered during Valentine's weekend, and was blown away by both the atmosphere, and the menu. Plus, our server was amazing. Here's what our group indulged in:~ Champagne Toast~ Cheese & Charcuterie Board~ Choice of a glass of their Red, White or Rosè~ Ribeye with fingerling potatoes and asparagus ~ Chocolate Covered Strawberries~ Love Potion No. 9 (Featured Cocktail): old forester 86, cherry, lemon, egg white, chocolate bitter

I loved this place as a newcomer! It kind of reminds you of a dueling piano bar, but a much more sophisticated experience. There was a young lady singing her heart out at the piano and taking requests from the crowd. Much more quirky and intimate experience than a dueling piano bar, with an amazing array of drinks. "Grapes and Grains" is truly living up to its name with the selection on the drink menu. An amazing array of wines, and whiskeys to choose from. Would absolutely return, even in this intimate location, because they are closely observing COVID-19 restrictions and vaccination requirements. A fun night, especially for a big group of friends.
