I don't hate it, I don't love it.
I used to go to the one in UTC, and went to this one for mothers day. I really love their beignets! They are so fluffy and just delicious. The waffle sticks are also really good and fun, as well as the maple donuts. I haven't had such great luck with the main courses. I had the sausage in a blanket, which was a fluffy pancake, it just felt like it was lacking, missing something, needed more flavor... less pancake... too undercooked, and the sausage tasted like one I could have just bought o my own and made at home. The cocktails were pretty bad too. The place it really cute... but parking SUCKS if you are going on a weekend. It is nice that they have outdoor seating too. The server we had was just really sweet and responsive!

Always looking for new brunch spots in SD and found this on yelp! We came on a Saturday and it was pretty busy, but they were amazing at making sure we got in quickly. The atmosphere was also amazing, very clean and modern. We ordered the salmon toast, maple donut w/ bacon, and grass fed burger. Everything was delicious and filling. Portions are pretty big, so sharing is ideal.

Saturday brunch with my GF and my daughter Made reservations I think on a Thursday for a Saturday brunch We were early but amazingly was able to get us in earlier than expected Server super attentive and very knowledgeable about menu For me I got the salted caramel express best ever so good I wanted more but that was alot of caffeine already lol We started with the beignets. Was amazing )forgot to take pic co we wanted to eat so bad lol) I order the salmon toast my daughter ordered the polenta with pork belly she sad was also yummy Parking was available that was also a surprise There was alot of people waiting outside so glad I made reservations
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food.
The maple bacon donuts were a hit for sure. Everyone in our party loved their food. While the food is great, service was unreasonably slow. For two people our bill was over $100. When you pay that much you do expect a certain level of service.

Our waitress was Sabrina and she was very nice and attentive. The food was so delectable. We ordered the beignets and the squash blossom and corn cake and the pork belly with polenta. Absolutely amazing and a great amount of food, too. I also highly recommend their cappuccino!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food went for Mother's Day.
Felt like there's a lot of choices I went with the chorizo eggs the portions look small but they definitely filled me up. I'll definitely come back again to try the pancakes
Be the first to ReplyThe menu in my opinion wasn't very good.
I had to ask after looking it over if it was the lunch menu cause it had more lunch items than breakfast. I was craving french toast but there was only one option & it was a log (basically a loaf of bread) I saw it on another persons table which just wasn't what i was looking for. The pancake options had more variety but very expensive. Just the pancakes themselves with $15+ then to get protein added like eggs or meat was $10 add-on. Additionally on the bottom of the menu stated there's a 4% surcharge. Breakfast is suppose to be the least expensive meal of the day, $25 not including the drinks is just too much for me. Although i struggled with choosing what to eat my server was kind and patient. In conclusion: the employees are good, the menu is not, the food was good but over priced.

Went here for my birthday and it was amazing!! I recommend booking a reservation, went here on a Saturday morning and it was packed. The food was delicious as expected, I got the Caesar salad with grilled chicken and our table shared the maple bacon donuts which were so good!! The mimosa flight was okay would like to try something else next time but the Bloody Mary was fantastic. Our server was great she was very helpful and accommodating to whatever we needed and the inside of the restaurant was beautiful. Parking might be a hassle so prepare to circle for a bit if it's busy. 10/10 would come back!

I'll just get this out of the way, our favorite part of the evening was my date showing me a picture from the women's room where there's a chair next to the toilet. We spent the rest of the night trying to imagine what kind of conversations go on in there. Also, the food was amazing. We had dinner on a Friday night and Great Maple lived up to it's reputation. I had the French Dip and she had the Portobello Mushroom. Both were a generous portion that required a take out box.

Food is amazing, service outstanding no matter how busy they are. The best chilaquiles I've had in ages.
Be the first to ReplyWe met friends for brunch last Sunday.
Fortunately we had reservations, but still had to wait. Parking was really challenging with an open market going on and a beautiful day that brought lots of people out. We ordered the special brunch menu for restaurant week, 3 of us did. I had the spinach quiche, it was delicious. My friend ordered an egg hash and requested egg whites. Here lies the problem. They brought full egg hash but since no-one came by the table for a while (yes they were busy), she couldn't tell the server that her order was wrong. When the server finally came by she told her about the mixup. The server took the plate away and came back saying that yes, they were regular eggs and not egg whites. Well, it took about 15 or 20 minutes for her to get the correct meal. Of course mistakes happen and it was busy, but the right thing would have been for the server to remove that charge from the bill. Any restaurant worth their weight would have done that, it's just the right thing to do. We were all finished eating by the time she was able to start. Bad restaurant etiquette on the part of Great Maple. Servers were very nice and knew what they were doing (we had two share the load), but they dropped the ball on this one. Although we enjoyed ourselves and the food was tasty and plentiful, that faux pas may be enough to make me skip this restaurant next time. There's too many options and not correcting their mistake by removing the charge was a missed opportunity to do the right thing.
Be the first to ReplyJust another trendy yuppie restaurant.
You're pretty much just paying for the vibes and location. The food was a bit bland, I had to keep adding salt, pepper, and hot sauce to everything in order to give it more flavor. The services was okey to a certain point, however, the waitress made us feel extremely uncomfortable at the end when it came to the bill and tip. This place is most certainly a one in done type of place. No need to return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Maple has quickly become one of my favorite
Great Maple has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. I've enjoyed dining there for dinner and brunch a few times now. Yesterday, I tried their special of the day, which was a fennel lamb hash, and it was incredible. Additionally, their brisket hash is also a favorite of mine.If you're looking for something on the lunch menu, I highly recommend the French dip sliders. I've also enjoyed their Friday night prime rib night. I loved their salted caramel pork ribs and Caeser of spain salad. I really haven't been disappointed with anything I've tried at Great Maple for brunch or dinner. I strongly suggest making reservations in advance, as it can get busy. However, the wait times aren't too bad if you decide to walk in without a reservation. I appreciate that they text you when your table is ready.Although I haven't tried their sweeter brunch items yet, I plan on doing so soon. Their donuts and French toast logs look amazing!
Be the first to ReplyWe reserved online and walked in and got seated.
The brunch was good. Service was face and prompt. Food took a bit, but worth it. Mimosa flight is the way to go for a chill brunch.

Yah. Wow. We were over-fed! Haha. Crazy place with glutinous portions! Four of us ordered a lot and everything was great. Service was also great. Love it. French toast is a must.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place but the parking sucks.
Go during the week to avoid long wait times. I always order the french toast. Can't forget their famous maple donuts, omg they are to die for!

my love & i went to this restaurant because we were craving brunch & it was very good! although it was busy it felt like we we're only there for half an hour. the food was also good as the portion size isn't too big like other brunches. definitely would go again!

I have been wanting to come here for a while, but it's usually super crowded. I'd you don't like to wait the key is to come in at 8am. The servers were all SO NICE. Their customer service skills are through the roof. Even when they got supe busy the servers were attentive throughout our time there. The food is good. Beware portions are very large. I had a good time and will be coming back. Thank you staff for giving my grandma who was visiting me from out of town a great experience :)
Be the first to ReplyThe food was to die for.
We had something to talk about during our meal because the host, something I've never seen before, had pants were so tight, you could clearly see the outline of his penis. And it was something you could not miss. Terrible first impression unless we'll, I'm sure you can imagine...

Food was great as usual! I was a little disappointed that they took away the fresh fruit on the maple logs. The service was just okay. Server did not check on us until we were finished eating. Had to ask for pepper, bread plates, and extra plate even after mentioning to server that we were sharing the meal. The ambiance...it was okay for breakfast. However, the kitchen was on point. The food came out quick. Still love Great Maple despite the few flaws

Perfect breakfast diner! Omg there apple pancakes were just right love it! They only thing is our second time coming here it took a long time for a waiter to notice us lol but then she saw us and was very friendly and apologized for the wait.
Be the first to ReplyOh my goodness, this place is very popular.
The parking in Hillcrest was a nightmare. The food was good. I got the great maple french dip, salted carmel bacon, the maple bacon doughnuts, and a lavender lemonade. The portions are big. If you are a person who can not eat a lot in a seating, you are probably good sharing with someone or you are taking leftovers home. The only reason I would be hesitant going back is because of the parking. I can see why this place is very popular for brunch, the food is very good.

I came here with my cousins for a birthday brunch and got three different things;Smoked beef brisket hash - this was a very hearty meal! The beef brisket was so tender and juicy, each bite felt as if I was biting into a cloud. The potatoes were delicious and plentiful, and the poached eggs with the yolk cracked over the brisket and potatoes was near perfection.Maple Bacon doughnuts- this is a must get to share! The doughnuts were huge! They were as big as my fists and packed flavor too. The bacon bits added a contrasting element to the sweet maple glaze and each bite made me want more.Apple pie pancakes- tasted exactly like an apple pie but in pancake form. I am a huge fan of apple crumble apple pie and the crumble bits on the pancakes made it feel as if I was eating a softer version of an apple pie. The apple bits were tart but but too tart, and the syrup and pie "filling" was delicious! Solid brunch spot!
Be the first to ReplyGreat brunch spot.
Little bit expensive, but the food is very tasty. The service was also fantastic. Definitely worth the wait.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, awkward service.
Best tip is to make reservations online on open table, you can do it same day and sometimes 30mins before you plan to arrive. Don't go without reservations unless you want to wait a while. I went on a Saturday for brunch with a friend and again for dinner the following week. Brunch was busy. To the point where about 20 people were waiting outside. We got reservations the day before online for outside and were seated as soon as we arrived. Most of the other tables outside were "reserved" and empty. My friend was already seated as I got there and I asked if he had asked about turning on the heater. He said yes but that no one had come back. Our waitress came and took our drink orders so I asked again. She looked at me confused and was like did you ask him? Points to a random employee bussing tables and we both said no that we told her and another waitress. She said ok and mentions to him as she walks away. 10mins later she comes back with drinks to take our order. I asked again about the heater... The heater was turned on the same time our food arrived which was disappointing and frustrating as it was too cold to enjoy ourselves. We ate quickly and took most of the meal to go. We both ordered the pigs and blanket which was delicious. Potatoes were a bit too salty but overall the food was amazing. Portions are worth the price. Dinner was ok. I don't remember what we ordered but it was good enough for us to want to come back for brunch.
