I was excited to try Hawksworth, however was disappointed
I was excited to try Hawksworth, however was disappointed to find they play loud, nearly dance club style music. The Fraser Valley Chicken lacked spice and contained gristle. Plus the serving size is very small. The service was fine but I sent my meal back and moved on to another restaurant with some adequate sized portions.

All very knowledgeable and friendly, they added to the experience. Beautiful decor. The tasting menu looked great, although I did not get it.

Loved everything about Hawksworth's Valentine's Day menu! The sablefish was to die for, and the king salmon was surreal. I recommend pairing the seared scallops with the sablefish! The textures and flavors of this dish was delicious. I really like how perfectly everything was cooked and how unique the presentation of the dishes were. Our server, Andre, was a gem as well! Not only was he friendly, efficient, and knowledgable, but his photography skills were on point when we wanted a photo taken. I also really like the ambiance of the restaurant as it was classy, yet felt cozy at the same time. Id love to try their other menu items!
Be the first to ReplyThe only reason this restaurant didn't gain my full stars
The only reason this restaurant didn't gain my full stars was because we felt discriminated by the hostess right when we entered. As we waited for our turn to be entertained, we watched the hostess enthusiastically check in coats and take cake of the wet umbrella of the party in front of us. After she greeting us, although our family was visibly soaked from the rain, there was no mention of coat check and didn't offer any help with our wet umbrella. She even saw my son struggling with the umbrella bag dispenser and didn't say nor offer anything at all. Instead she whisked us off to the maître d and off to our table! It felt very awkward having to keep our wet coats on the backs of our sets and our bagged umbrella on the floor behind where we sat. I kept quiet about it because I didn't want to ruin a Friday evening, more so a rainy night when we were wet walking to the restaurant. Then during dinner, my husband and both our sons raised it up and validated what we all felt - WE WERE DISCRIMINATED! Otherwise, I totally agree with Yelper Ron P. that this restaurant is "outstanding in every way". Glass straws Hot water is served with lemon and honey on the side Towels instead of paper towels in the washroom Ambiance is nice, modern yet rich in wood interiors that spells elegance. Our server has a strong French accent which elevated the experience. He was very patient, assuring us that we have the whole night to enjoy while waiting for 2 pax who were late for around 45mins. instead of rushing us to fill a next seating. Food is delectable and heavenly presented. We complained of unpleasant Uni on the seafood tower and was replaced right away. We had such a lovely night...but could be better if we were treated like everybody else. I wonder why... The server very much made a difference for the ruined night.

The wine pairing was very well described And made the experience that much better
Be the first to ReplySort of old school cooking trying to be creative and modern.
Definitely recommend. Solid cuisine but a little old school.

While the service was excellent, the food did not meet my expectations. I was dining with my family, and there were four of us. The carpaccio on the menu was particularly disappointing. Next, I ordered the sablefish with Burgundy truffles and seared foie gras. It turned out to be plain basic fish in broth with some mushrooms, nothing special. I can get better fish at the Chinese take out. There were barely three shaved tiny see through truffles on top, lacking any aroma of Burgundy winter truffles. The truffles were almost invisible. The seared foie gras was served on a separate plate, completely plain without any accompanying sauce or anything else I had to request an additional basket of bread just to eat it. However, the cheese plate was excellent, and the tartare was good. I assume the rest of the food was also fine, although I didn't get a chance to try everything. Definitely not a come back restaurant for me.

My wife and I dined at Hawksworth last night and both of us enjoyed our meals. I ordered Seafood Gumbo ($59) and my wife had scallops ($42). Not bad for a restaurant of this calibre. What was off putting was that we were upsold 5 times. Once for water, once for starters, once for desert and coffee and twice for our choice of meals. In my case I was offered extra seafood for $20 and in my wife's case extra scallops for $20. The point is that if there is not enough seafood included in these dishes at the prices on the menu then maybe they should not be on the menu. Overall we enjoyed our Hawksworth experience but found the upsells to be offputting.

Definitely not a typical week-day night dinner place, but one for special occasions and celebrations. Nonetheless, a beautiful and sophisticated dining experience with a rotating seasonal menu. The service was fantastic, the ambiance was upscale yet still pleasant, and the food delicious. The dishes are small portions, as most restaurants at this price point are, with the purpose of being eaten in succession (appetizer, main, dessert). I started with a lovely seasonal soup and main of Hokkaido scallops. My mom got the harvest salad and main of fish. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a GEM.
I had never eaten at restaurants that were Michelin star or in the running for Michelin star until my daughter moved to Vancouver. Every attention to detail is perfection here. I've had about five meals here as my daughter lives in the Hotel Georgia residences and it's just so quick and easy to head downstairs and stay close. The ambiance is beautiful with true white tablecloth dining. The food is immaculate. The service is professional, but not stuffy. You just know that the staff is all-in-on-it-together to make this place the best it can be. They also have a fantastic $36 lunch special with three courses. I tried it last week and it was very good. I also had dinner last week. It says something about the establishment if I return repeatedly for the experience. I suggest you put this on your list of must-do dining experiences. The food is Chef created food and not your typical seafood/steakhouse food or vibe. You're getting the experience of a culinary journey. Highly recommend Hawksworth.

Nice decor, good service, mediocre food that is a little pricey. We were looking forward to our visit in the fine dining room of this renovated hotel Georgia location. Ambiance was very nice, maybe a little stuffy but ok it's fine dining and that happens. Hawksworth is a contributor to the air Canada signature class menu, which is fairly good, so we had high hopes and thought we'd give it a try. It's sad when the accompaniments are better than the mains. All of our mains were cold and the fish was barely cooked - I couldn't eat mine. We had a variety of appetizers, mains and side dishes. Fingerling potatoes were very good along with the Brussel sprouts. Drinks were on par with other similar restaurants. Service was very good, as mentioned decor was nice - steak house vibe with a combination of dark wood and classic lighting. I polled our group and the consensus was a solid 3 out of 5 overall. Sorry, I know this restaurant is critically acclaimed but it was really quite disappointing. We won't be back.

Enjoyed a nice, romantic Galentine's dinner here with a few girlfriends last Friday night. We ordered a wide variety of appetizers and entrees, and shared it family-style. Appetizers included West and East coast oysters, 'KFC' Korean Fried Chicken, Hay Roasted Beets & Burrata, and Wagyu Carpaccio. Entrees were the Bradner Farms Ribeye, Dover Sole & Scallop, and Dungeness Crab Agnolotti. Sides were the Truffle Fries and Sauteed Mushrooms. My favourites were definitely the KFC, Wagyu Carpaccio, and Ribeye. And absolutely loved the Truffle Fries. Also, the East Coast oysters were amazing.. so we ordered another half dozen. We also enjoyed three bottles of Phantom Creek Estates 2019 Petit Cuvée that we drank between mainly 3 of us! What an amazing red wine. And lastly, the Baked Alaska was the perfect dessert to end the night.
Be the first to ReplyFood was so basic.
Sable fish was extremely fishy, almost not edible. The beef duo was awful. The desert was pedestrian. We spent more than $500 there and it was just awful.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a fun lunch here! The place.
.is upper stuff. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed...it was 2PM...so....lol. We went there for #DineoutVancouver and enjoyed their 3 course... Busy outside but even that was part of it! The food was delicious!....fun fact...it's on the regular menu at 29.!.... Misread the wine costs though!....lol. The service..thank you Quinn!....was also upper stuff!

I just don't give a lot of places 5 stars, but I can tell you every time I go to Vancouver, I WILL be eating here. We came for a late lunch and my wife barely managed to make me leave va staying for dinner and dessert. The restaurant is cozy, with a cute patio but in the crazy snowstorm that obviously wasn't an option. The private fireplaces in certain areas were a nice touch during the winter storm. Service was impeccable and their off menu specials, with freshly sourced truffle (shaved at your table), was the cherry on top. Atmosphere: 4/5 Drinks: 5/5 (great wine options + cocktails) Food: 6/5 GOOOOOD Service: 5/5 (perfectly attentive + extremely knowledgable)

Came here just in time to catch truffle season and had the most satisfying pasta ever. The wait staff and the sommelier where knowledgeable, they made great suggestions and were very nice. In the evening after dinner was over the head chef came to say hello and we thank him for the great meal.

Nice location but the table was dimly lit so it was hard to read the menu and appreciate the presentation. weird that there were no female waiters. The menu has share and then starters but when we ordered they just gave us side plates to share it all. The Korean fried cauliflower was very good. The beets and beef carpaccio were adequate the ribs were worth ordering. For the mains the duck breast was amazing and the sable fish was very good. Oh yeah, there is no bread unless you order it and no salt on the table. The special was the venison which was cooked very well but it's a dry meast and needs the au jus. The sides were the fingerling potato s that needed a bit more salt and crispness. The side of mushrooms were good . The desserts had a good selection. The passionfruit hazelnut cornBo was a hitOverall a very good meal but not mind blowing.

This was our first time at Hawksworth (we were traveling from Seattle) and we were utterly disappointed in the food, especially given that it was NYE and we had high expectations of a $850 meal for two. We tried the pre-fix NYE menu and not a single dish stood out. The entree, the veal striploin was a complete let down--it was a heavily over cooked piece of meat. I got the white Alba truffles as an addition to my dish for ~$50. I was expecting them to shave the truffle on my dish at the table (as is typically done in most fine dining restaurants) but surprisingly they didn't do that. It was pre-added to my dish in the kitchen and was certainly not 1gm. I think the only saving grace was the dessert (rice pudding). The ambience is good but if you're looking for a 5-star meal, this is not the place, especially if they're doing pre-fix menus.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at this restaurant to celebrate NYE 2023.
The ambience at the hotel was great, and within the restaurant was fine. The fixed course menu was $240 which is in line with several fine dining restaurants, however the food itself was underwhelming. Almost all items lacked some seasoning and in some cases the combinations didn't make sense, such as the lobster with a gelly based sauce that was a strange combination and lacked any seasoning. The Veal was overcooked and almost well done and again the combination didn't go really well. The dessert of rice pudding with ice cream was good. This was our first time to Hawksworth, so maybe the pre fixed menu is not the thing to do here. I have heard many good things so need to think if it is worth a visit for a dinner on a regular evening.
Be the first to ReplyLovely ambiance here.
Nice place for date night or special occasion. Burrata toast was melt in your mouth delicious. KFC (Korean fried cauliflower) is an absolute must. Sablefish was cooked perfectly and buttery soft. Every dish was flavorful and delicious. Recommend the Pavlova for dessert.

The ambience was just amazing, with a corner table and a view of the gorgeous dimly lit chandelier in the room, the fireplaces "roaring", and soft house music in the background made this a romantic scene.I arrived with my family of four and my waiter was actually, truly, kind. He saw my kids ages 12 and 15 and after discussing with the chef, took them on a tour of the kitchen. They were all smiles after that.My daughter ordered a mocktail of which they had 8 options that were very well done. I ordered an expertly prepared spicy tequila drink with a frozen spicy pepper.Without spoiling the surprises, I will say that everything we ordered was spot on, and the server even explained the logic behind the chemistry of each menu item. It was a culinary experience not to be missed.

Hawksworth is located in the lobby of Rosewood Hotel Georgia on Robson. We didn't have reservations so we got in line a few minutes before they opened and got to sit in the bar area for happy hour. The happy hour menu has the hawksworth classic burger that comes with a drink (old fashioned or beer). The burger was solid and the fries were crispy. We also got the Korean fried cauliflower which was good but had a lot of batter. The scallop came with pork belly and something about the dish didn't seem right - not sure the combination with the sauce really worked. Drinks were good and the ambiance is nice. We got to spend our time chatting and we did not feel rushed by the staff.
Be the first to ReplySorry to say.
..this restaurant is cutting costs that should not be cut. The crab risotto had no meaty lumps of crap AND was far too salty AND the rice was undercooked. The bread we PAID FOR was stale where I would expect it to be fresh from the oven. The server was professional and very sweet. The oysters perfection. These are corners that shouldn't be cut at any price. Don't charge for stale bread; better yet, don't put it out.

We had the English breakfast, chicken sandwich, & crispy choux; it was all grubbin'!The design of the space is classic-trendy in a way that feels right & not like it's trying&, our server was nice & super helpful

Like our other dinner pick for a quick weekend trip to Vancouver, Hawksworth was one of the restaurants on a top restaurants list for the city and we wanted to give it a shot. The restaurant is located inside of the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, which is a beautiful (at least from the lobby) 1920s-esque hotel. The atmosphere is very high end and romantic, with a dimly lit dining room and candles on each table. When we arrived the hostess offered to hang our coats for us as well. I started dinner with the tuna tartar, which came with charred avocado on top and house-made potato chips. The tartar itself was very good and right up my alley, but those potato chips I could eat an entire bag full of no problem.Dinner was the duck breast, and the waiter upsold us on the foie gras add-on. I would say this is the right decision if you're looking for a really high-end meal, and paired very nicely with the duck breast.Overall, we had a nice dinner and don't regret coming in. However, given the cost of the meal, we would have appreciated slightly more attentive service. Given the number of waiters and the fact that by the end of the night the dining room had thinned out quite a bit, I was a little surprised how long we were waiting for each part of our meal. Part of this-- how long it took to get our food-- was almost surely because of the kitchen, but even getting the check at the very end of the night took quite a bit longer than we'd expect.
