Over charged twice and all I get got was "im sorry and it will be reversed in 3-5 days"
Came up for one night to take my kid to a college tour and they over charged me twice! 200 dollars in charges! Once ok deal with it move on but then I leave and you charge me again! gTfo I am so annoyed and I am not rich so waiting on 200 for five days to be refunded is not cool at all

While the room was nice and location convenient, I was very upset to learn that I would be charged $25 a day for my 3 night stay. It is couched as a food and beverage credit, but whether you purchase food or not, you are charged. Considering that my omelet with a Diet Coke was $42 with tip, it was even more frustrating. I had to use most of my actual $18 food and beverage credit just to cover breakfast. I realize this is LA, but The breakfast is the same quality as a Hilton garden inn. My feeling was they are forcing their customers to eat at the hotel in order to get something for the $25. But people like to go out and explore restaurants while in LA. The $25 does not rollover to the next day if you donโt use it. In addition as a Hilton diamond member I have access to premium internet, but had to use my hotspot just to watch a show on my computer because the internet was so poor. As a positive, the hotel staff was very friendly and efficient.

Update: After my one star review I was told to called back again only to be told I will not be refunded. Waste of my time. Your hotel does not accommodate the business traveler. Called customer service. No luck. Diamond Member here. Would not recommend for business travel. Giving a one star review for service. Canโt get anyone on the phone. Wonโt refund money due to having to cancel stay at the last minute. Iโve stayed at Hampton Inns that had better service.
Be the first to ReplyDowntown LA Classic Hotel
This hotel was recommended by our travel agent and is located in the financial district of downtown LA. It is within walking distance of some wonderful restaurants (Bistro Louie, Drago, and Denae's Cafe). Upon checking in, we were warmly greeted by Mia at the front desk. She made us feel like she was welcoming us into her own home. The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. This hotel is highly recommended.

We are Hilton Rewards members and I DO NOT RECOMMEND. We drove 3 hours to get to LA to stay at this Hilton. We picked this place because we wanted to go to the Lakers game and see LeBron James. So this was a bucket list item, special treat and expense for us. The hotel advertised that the Crypto arena was 1 minute away walking? Actually, the arena was 10 minute walk in the rain. We ended up not going because we were advised that it was not safe to walk. Since we paid $50.00 per night to park our car, we were not willing to also pay an Uber since we had planned to walk. It appears that this hotel is used mostly for business guest. These guest are not paying for rooms, their company is. However if you are personally paying $600.00 a night more is expected. The best thing about this place is the architectural building (absolutely gorgeous), the two doormen that helped us get inside. If I could rate it negative stars I would. The majority of the staff was haughty, rude and dismissive. When you pay for a luxury room, you are paying for amenities like the rooftop pool, gym, customer service and smiling faces. This place only had a gym (I think) and a broken lobby bathroom. So we had to use our own 3rd floor bathroom while we caught up with old friends at the lobby bar. Checkers Hilton greeted us with frowns and unwillingness to help. I guess we werenโt dressed up enough to stay there? Why that would matter is baffling since money spends no matter what you look like. I am a college graduate that speaks 3 languages, yada, yada yada. Donโt judge a book by its cover! We ate quietly and enjoyed having breakfast together. However, the buffet breakfast is over priced, glamorized Holiday Express food. For two people they charged $50.00 for powdered eggs and food that needed to be changed out for fresher food. The service was lacking as no-one asked us if we wanted coffee or if we wanted anything. They did ask other patrons if they wanted refills of coffee. They just brought us the bill. We felt as if they wanted us to leave. Regardless, we wanted to go too. Nothing worse than paying for luxury to be treated as if we were the homeless people that lurk in front of the building at sundown. Next time just stay at the Holiday Express. You will avoid skid and have beautiful memories of LA.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed, but some lovely interiors
Of 2 beds in the room, only 1 was comfortable - the 1st sagged so much we got up & moved to other bed at 3 am. Room was clean; restaurant food at 9 pm was good. Neighborhood - very busy street, and hotel parking was $51 PLUS TAX (taxable parking?!) per night! Lovely vintage lobby with mosaic tile floors was nice. At Check-in: they tried to tell me we had not pre-paid (which we had) ~ took 5 minutes to get it right. Very disconcerting and time-consuming. Overall ~ we will not return.

Overpriced and underwhelming hotel in the heart of the financial district. Bottom line, this hotel should be flagged as a doubletree versus a full service Hilton. The hotel is fineโ a bed and a bathroom is all you need for a decent night. However, with a weekend night price point of almost 300 plus parking, this is not worth it. Roomsโ king room was small, but we chose a corner room ourselves and while small it was well organized. Furniture was old but worked fine. Lunch โ no restaurant open for lunch Dinnerโ did not bother trying the food, but did not look great Breakfastโ no service at a buffet that just didnโt have much. Could not even order a la carte. Luckily was able to get someone to get me some eggs from the back. Check in- was fine but when I went back at 8pm to grab some water, was offered two bottlesโ suddenly Denise came by and yelled at us saying water is only for checkin and we should refill our bottles if we run out. Not so nice. Valetโ expensive but no comments. Could not charge my ev.
Be the first to ReplyHilton Checkers @ Los Angeles: Where elevators take a break and Microwaves play Hide & Seek!
I recently stayed at this hotel and here is my review breakdown for it. Accommodation and Pricing: As someone who typically opts for budget hotels, this hotel leans towards the pricier side compared to my usual choices. During my recent 3-night stay, I booked a room with โ2 Double Bedsโ for $229. The room featured two comfortable Serenity brand beds and a notable 55-inch TV, the largest Iโve encountered in a hotel. The adjustable TV swivels for optimal viewing angles. A surprising highlight was the extensive selection of cable channels, including complimentary HBO, a rarity in my hotel experiences. Room Amenities: A notable drawback, however, was the absence of microwaves in the rooms. Given the rate I paid, I expected this basic amenity, especially considering that even budget hotels I frequent provide them. This omission left me baffled and disappointed. Parking Situation: Another point of dissatisfaction was that they only offer Valet parking, priced at a steep $51 according to their website. While I assumed this was a daily charge, my final bill at check-out revealed a reduced total of $129 for the three nights (equivalent to $42.98 per night). Though I didnโt inquire about the reduction, I was relieved not to exceed my anticipated expense of $153. Elevator Issue: During my stay, I noticed that one of the two elevators was unresponsive and very slow. This issue seems to have been highlighted in reviews, with a response comment mentioning they were going to fix it eight months ago. It appears that this concern remains unaddressed, indicating a potential lack of responsiveness to guest feedback. Staff and Service: Despite these concerns, I enjoyed my stay. The Front Desk staff were welcoming and accommodating. Overall Rating: Considering the price paid, I expected additional amenities such as in-room microwaves and a more reasonable Valet parking fee. For further insights, please refer to the pictures from my stay. Iโve rated this place 4 stars, considering the points mentioned in my review.
Be the first to ReplyGreat downtown place to stay!
My family and I stayed one night to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful time. The 1927 lounge had great food (the grilled shrimp cocktail and vegetable pasta really hit the spot). We stayed in a fantastic king bed room with lounge, it was fun and let us spread out a bit. Staff was so nice and helpful. Itโs a great spot for a weekend downtown. We did take a Lyft since we live in town and the price for parking was so high. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and quite a few bars. LA Live is also pretty close, if you donโt mind a bit of a walk. Would definitely stay again.

Long ago [pre-covid] they had direct flights from DC to Hawaii, but no more, so a layover in LA was needed. Let me say that airport hotels are always a pain so we went into the city. Hilton Checkers was a breath of fresh air. Staff were super nice and hospitable. We arrived late evening and left the next morning, but had we not needed to catch a flight we would have extended. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious for us to do a little work before our flight (remember for us time was 3 hours ahead...) All ok all, we canโt wait to come back. Next time will definitely be for leisure. :)
Be the first to ReplyGood location
Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff and a good location with a free buss to the Mall just outside. Not far from the metro making it easy to get round and walking distance from the Lakers stadium. We were on a B & B basis and the breakfasts were brilliant. Only down side was there was no free wifi which in this day and age was surprising.
Be the first to ReplyStylish and Good Quality
Three night post cruise stay. Room on 5th floor. Clean and very comfortable hotel, with traditional styling. The room was a good size with a Queen sized comfy bed. Great bathroom, had a powerful shower and good Crabtree and Evelyn bath products. The carpet looked pretty new, large flat screen TV and there was a coffee maker, hairdryer, a safe and ironing facilities. Efficient check in and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. We didnโt eat there as too expensive (same as most city hotels). Area is more of a commercial district not tourist but felt safe. You can find some eateries and Starbucks or Walgreens for drinks/snacks in walking distance only a couple of blocks.
Be the first to ReplyNice location downtown
Stayed here for a night as part of a cruise package. Nice location of you want to be downtown, and about a 45-minute drive south to the pier. Nice room - clean and big bathroom. WiFi was included. Breakfast was not - fairly expensive but convenient right off the lobby and good quality. Nice service.
Be the first to ReplyBad for Light Sleepers
Came here for a staycation and ended up going home after a few hours because there was too much noise even on the 12th floor: traffic, sirens, trucks, and then some motorized noise from inside the vents even though the thermostat was off. I have a hard time relaxing when there's constant noise at certain frequencies so I suspected I wouldn't be able to sleep. Mattress was lumpy. Tiny clean but dim room with tiny windows that didn't let in much natural light. Dim narrow hallways. My partner, who is a heavy sleeper and unbothered by noise in general, was fine with the room.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Stay During The Rose Bowl
Absolutely perfect stay from the second we arrived to the moment we left. The doormen were welcoming and extremely helpful the one night was asked for dinner recommendations. Because we arrived late and the attended the game, we had two dinners at the hotel. Room service was very quick and the food hit the spot after a cross country flight. LA Live, Angels Flight and a number of other spots are a short walk away. The bar and restaurant staff were friendly, engaged and made sure all our needs were met. Only one nit to pick. The breakfast buffet was a bit overpriced but you are in LA after all. With that said, the daily food credit as a Hilton Honors member offset the cost. Highly recommend Hilton Checkers even if itโs not for The Rose Bowl. ๐
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Hotel Staff
I normally get names and I regret that I didnโt this time. The Latino bartenders were fantastic. Really nice to see them take such care making every cocktail perfectly. I order French 75 and rarely am I 100% satisfied, but the bartenders here care about the quality of what they serve. The food was terrific. The Valet staff were also incredible as were the front desk personnel. Itโs been a long time since I have had such a great overall experience in a hotel. Definitely give Hilton Checkers a try. They will take great care of you.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Choice for DTLA
Stayed at this Downtown L.A. Hilton property for two nights while visiting friends. I booked the smallest King room, and it was spacious enough to accommodate a couple. Great natural light with a view towards Bunker Hill. Coffee maker and mini fridge in the room, plenty of power outlets and charging ports, comfortable bed...though I would have appreciated an extra blanket or comforter. The bathroom was also spacious, and I was told all rooms have a bath/shower combo. Every staff member I met was so friendly and kind, from check-in to check-out. And daily housekeeping is back! Have to say that after nearly three years of no hotel housekeeping for stays under three days, that was such a treat!
