Himitzu, Atlanta's hidden gem of a lounge, is celebrated
Himitzu, Atlanta's hidden gem of a lounge, is celebrated for serving some of the city's finest cocktails, a perfect follow-up to a superb dinner after UMI. This speakeasy distinguishes itself with elegant decor and a cozy atmosphere, providing a unique setting for socializing with an impressive crowd. It's a must-visit destination in Atlanta. Secure a dining experience at UMI first, then politely request the secret code for Himitzu access. If it's a quieter night, you might just get the code, or alternatively, you can make a reservation via email. A little charisma can go a long way while making that reservation :)
Be the first to ReplyMy friend and I chose Chai Yo for a pre-birthday
My friend and I chose Chai Yo for a pre-birthday celebration dinner. Towards the end of our dining experience, we noticed an adjacent establishment that caught our interest -- HIMITSU (speak easy). Curious, my friend approached the host at the neighboring place -- HIMITSU to inquire about it. However, the host's response left much to be desired in terms of professionalism. He mentioned that a group of 40 people, whom he referred to as "members," (Caucasian people) would be arriving shortly, and they had priority seating (over us). He suggested we return around 11:15 pm if we wanted to be accommodated. Before settling our bill, we noticed several people attempting to enter HIMITSU, with a notable trend: those who were accepted appeared to be predominantly white, while those who were denied entry were from diverse racial backgrounds. These observations only served to confirm our suspicions of discrimination taking place at HIMITSU. As the clock neared 11:00 pm, we settled our bill with our server at Chai YO and I approached the host (hoping he really wasn't a racist) for further information. The host informed us that entry to HIMITSU was typically reserved for special (white people) individuals in the film or sports industry who had been invited by the owner. I inquired if my film industry affiliation would grant us access, to which he replied negatively. I then asked about making a reservation, and he advised us to do so for the following week. The host's response was highly unsatisfactory, especially since we had no intention of waiting until the following week for a reservation. AND this seemed contradictory to the "members only" policy he initially mentioned. In frustration, I sought clarification on their standards, to which he responded by claiming our server Bryan at HIMITSU had informed the host Kevin that our tip did not meet their 20% standard. This left me baffled, as our check totaled approximately $290, and we had tipped around $360, well above the 20% threshold. It became apparent that the host's explanation was inconsistent and lacked professionalism. It's unfortunate to say, but his actions and comments strongly suggested racial bias. In summary, it appeared that the host had no valid reason to deny us access, and the decision seemed to be rooted in racial profiling and stereotypes. Please be cautious and consider your choices carefully when dining here, as we experienced prejudiced behavior from the host. Hindsight, I should have immediately ask for the manager's assistance to address the biased behavior exhibited by the host. #racists #prejudice #disgusting #shutitdown

I brought another out-of-town guest to Himitsu last night and another home run by the staff! Eric, as always, thank you for making this happen and I hope to see you soon -

I absolutely love this trendy, energetic, and fun spot! Very classy. After leaving Umi (the sushi is the best), Himitsu was the icing on the cake of a wonderful evening. Just exquisite. The service was next level. White glove from beginning to end. Thanks for a wonderful time! Always a great choice.

Service was impeccable -- everything from the host to server highly polished. Sushi menu was limited but the high quality made up for it. Everything was a hit with our table. Would happily return!

If you want to impress your date or have a great night out with your close friends Himitsu is the place you need to attempt to get into. It's a password required speakeasy that's not only parallel to Umi Sushi, but they share the same kitchen!! You'll have access to the most popular items on the menu while also having exclusive access to their signature cocktails. The dim lights, Vegas like music and the overall ambiance makes this space extremely sexy. This establishment is only open Thursday through Saturday.

My favorite cocktail spot in Buckhead, or in all of Atlanta really. Depending on the server you get, they can be a *little* slow, but this is a laid-back kind of place where you shouldn't be in a hurry anyway. They leave you alone for the most part, which I really like.
Be the first to ReplyAtlanta's best kept secret! Himitsu is the ultimate example
Atlanta's best kept secret! Himitsu is the ultimate example of an exclusive, swanky, and intriguing experience. I am not a member of this establishment (I don't even know how you become one tbh), but my friend and I were able to put our names down on the waitlist after dining at Umi. Impatience quickly got the best of us, so we decided to march on over to the entrance of Himitsu (the inconspicuous door located directly next to Chai Yo Thai, with the LED wall sign next to it) and asked the bouncer how long our wait was. He mentioned that we were in luck and that he would be able to accommodate our party right then - after which he pushed a button and the inner door slid open to reveal a stunningly sexy yet cozy cocktail bar. Talk about a dramatic entrance! If you're not a member, you can't sit at any of the tables in the middle of the room (apparently). We sat at a booth and took in our surroundings. It sure felt like everyone knew just about everyone else (clearly all the members are regulars), so it's a bit of an odd, outside-looking-in vibe if it's your first time. Oh well. I ordered the Raichi to drink, which was excellent. Similar to a lychee martini, but slightly less syrupy. This is the type of bar where I'm guessing every drink is top notch!Good experience overall, glad I got to try it once!

Stopped by for dessert as this was the only place offering dessert after 10pm.Espresso Martini was the best I've hadGreat vibe, good music
Be the first to ReplyHimitsu is an intimate upscale speakeasy lounge near the St.
Regis Hotel, but with an upbeat lively atmosphere. Himitsu translates to "secret" in English. How fitting, right? The food menu is a selection from Umi Sushi, but the drink menu is extensive. The cocktails were beautifully crafted, but I of course had to dive into their wine menu. With only 60-seats, Himitsu is reservation only, though it helps knowing someone that has a member's only key card.
Be the first to ReplyI got the matcha espresso martini very delicious and smooth.
Great ambiance; dimmed and upbeat. I got to sip a few other drinks all very good and well balanced flavors. Great for a evening out on town square. Somewhat of a speakeasy regarding location & absolutely for drinks.

Himitsu nailed the intimate yet lively atmosphere a speakeasy should have. Hands down an excellent night out; I really enjoyed my experience here. My drink of the night was the Raichi, which means: Inspiring, Confidence, Gentle and this drink checks each of those boxes It was so delightful and energizing- although I may have drank a few too many .

After an epic Omakase dinner at Umi, my date and I headed next door to Himitsu for late night cocktails and we loved it. The music was awesome, atmosphere is right up there with any upscale bar or lounge you'd find in West Hollywood or Meatpacking District/SoHo in LA or NYC. The bartenders are exceptionally talented (especially Brendan) and super friendly, drinks were fabulous, and it was a very fun, eclectic, interesting crowd. Put your trust and date in the hands of the bartender or server - you won't be sorry.
Be the first to ReplyIf I could give the place no stars I would.
Food was horrible and they wouldn't let me in the first reservation we had. Yes because I had sneakers on. They did let my white wife in with her sneakers on though.
