Need work in the front of the house
Probably a great restaurant but the person who answered a call for reservations for Sunday was abrupt and rude. Those that recommended Houstonโs and dine there regularly were taken back by the treatment and were certain the justification provided was at best incorrect.

Houstonโs Restaurant doesnโt accommodate toddlers. We came for my grandmothers birthday lunch & was surprised to find out that they do not have child booster seats or high chairs. Iโm posting this as an awareness post for new moms and the lack of support from places on the parenting community. Iโd understand if this restaurant had a strict age restriction, but they donโt have one enforced and therefore not having the accommodations for infants, toddlers and you g kids is appalling to me. To my knowledge they have restrictions on their website listed, but the wording is misleading: โOur restaurants are generally not the best environment for young children. We welcome families, but we ask parents to keep children at the table and calm vocal infants or youngsters outside of the dining room. We do not offer child seating nor do we allow strollers in the dining room.โ Kids will be kids and yes we can walk them outside as parents, but their dining guidelines are clumsily written. if you donโt want them, just say NO children, we only allow 16 and older or whatever. We mentioned we had a toddler in our party and nothing was mentioned to review their dining restrictions on their website and there was no mention of not having high chairs. The manager was not helpful and our conversation was disappointing. He left me feeling upset and discouraged. He told me about the guidelines on the website but no one said anything beforehand! Also , there were infants in strollers (even though on their website they say no strollers in the dining area) and older kids in chairs, but nothing to accommodate toddlers. My child also couldnโt sit in the booth because he kept standing so his shoes remained in my lap. We had no choice but to get our orders to go or for me to just hold him on my lap while we eat. On top of that we ended up getting to-go but also ordered a few quick bites but was clearly trying to be pushed out because we had ordered our main dish to-go. Iโm disappointed and it feels discriminating. They clearly need ti rework their child policy. I understand and respect clearly outlined policies of not wanting kids but just say no we donโt allow kids or make an age range restriction. Iโm disappointed by how the manager took my feedback and how he had me leave upset.

Houston's has lost its touch and flavor. I will not be returning. The sides were oh so healthy and bland. Not what I expected based on previous visits. They added Sushi to the menu for what? I will give them kudos for a tender steak.

Fabulous food with fabulous service from Carla. We are huge fans of Houstonโs & a return visit to this outlet after many years did not disappoint. We started with cocktails at the bar & followed up with dinner of ribs & Hawaiian ribeye. Both dishes were delicious & the loaded baked potatoes were just the best. Cheese toast too was a great starter to share. Wonโt likely be back in the area but would return here in a heartbeat. Just Love Houstonโs.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, quality meal
We've eaten at other Houston's when traveling and this location was just as great as ever. Love the consistency! Our server Stephanie was exceptionally helpful and the wine pairings were spot on. Will be on our short list for when we return.
Be the first to ReplySurprise visit from my friends
An incredible experience from start to finish. We were immersed in attention and overall staff interaction. Every concern, desire, and question was addressed, delivered, and answered. Upon entering we were greeted by no less than 5 staffers including the GM. I was talked into the french dip despite my hesitation. Because I wanted the filet, we ordered one for the table so that I would be appeased. Never have I had such an incredible sandwich. The prime rib was sliced thin and plentiful. But the real secret was the bread. Soft and delicate and was the perfect texture for the french dip! The filet was perfection! We cut it with a fork!! I also recommend the sushi, ribs, and the rib eye burger

We arrived - with a reservation - and while we saw many people waiting, we were shown to our table within a few minutes. I had a asked for privacy and was given a booth - perfect. Service was as professional as could be. The food and drinks came quickly, but at a comfortable pace. The food was excellent, and everyone was very pleasant. They also have their own parking lot - so that stress was also removed. A wonderful experienceโฆ.

Be the first to Replythe only place in town to go for ribs
We remembered Houston's as one of our favourite restaurants when we lived in CA. So after 10+ years we returned to have a taste of our favorite dishes, to assess whether they changed or not. And if they did change, it was for the better. Fantastic service and absolutely the highest quality of food. If you chose to go there, ribs is your choice ! Pls remember that baked potatoes are served only after 5pm. Kudos to the entire team, and we certainly shall be back
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the price
A bit pricey for a run of the mill Steakhouse. Nothing like the old Monty's Steakhouse down the road. Kind of a Yuppie height up place. I think it's more popular for drinking than eating. Still, they have decent food. Just not worth the price
Be the first to ReplyThe Great Baby Backs
The sushi wasn't great but heavily recommend the baby back ribs. The service was exquisite. Reasonably priced and everybody there was nice. Would heavily recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced, overhyped restaurant but very friendly staff.
Iโve been here several times but never was won over by their food. I donโt think the food is that great and not worth the price. Itโs not cheap but the ambience and decor is nice. Itโs supposedly upscale and their menu and prices reflect that. Itโs not a huge menu, certainly not many vegetarian dishes. I only got side dishes.
The staff were very friendly and service was good.
As far as Covid protocol, masks were worn but tables were not socially distanced. It was fully packed so definitely not regulating the social distancing rules.
I wouldnโt dine here again as I donโt care for the food but would maybe have a drink at the bar. Itโs very overpriced for mediocre food.
Just not the same
The atmosphere is not the usual given there is outdoor seating, the service was good. However I was disappointed with the food and value. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant and bland .The ribeye was overcharged, I understand it's marinated but I have eaten here for years. I always boasted it was one of the few places that cooked a great well done ribeye. There was a cook name Hector that was awesome. The brownie seemed to be half it's size , while skimping on ice cream. I learned they added cherries to the recipe. I was so disappointed .
Be the first to ReplyFantastic for a Date Night
My husband and I have had many a date night here, specifically in the bar area. It is a nice area and the staff is very attentive and professional. Ask for an Old Fashion
The menu has a lot to choose from, steaks, burgers, sushi and salads-something for everyone. Good food and great service.
THANK YOU TO THE CREW AT HOUSTON'S How to have the best of both while adhering to "Stay-at-home" orders.
Thank you to the crew at Houston's Pasadena for a great evening meal at home.
First of all let me just say Houston's in one of our regular dining out spots here in Pasadena ever since they opened up. Favorite dishes are, Ribs, Baked Potato, French Dip, Chili and their Vegetarian Plate. We enjoy their steaks as well, but more often than not when we want a steak, there's nothing better than BBQ Grilled steak at home, but if you don't want to go through the fuss, Houston's is a close runner up. And of course you can't beat the service.
But, this review is really about our meal the other day which we picked-up due to the Stay-At-Home order. It has been one of our highlights during this time of high anxiety.
We ordered the ribs, mashed potatoes, broccoli and Cole slaw (their new version is really great). Love their ribs, so good. They happened to included a dessert that is somewhere between a brownie and fudge, really amazing. Something I don't think I've ever seen on the menu before.
The food was great and hot, the curbside pickup easy, timely and friendly. It was on the day after several days of overcast and rain, when the sun came out and warmed up for a perfect outside dinner at home.
I've enclosed a photo, please note however we embellished the side dishes a bit with our own invention of creamed corn"Off the cob Elote" (El Mexicano Crema sour cream, reduced whipping cream, Parmesan cheese, mayo and chopped Jalapeรฑo. A Blue Cheese wedge salad, all washed down with a Vodka Martini and a bottle of Cabernet.
Thanks again to the crew, you helped make the day very special.
Wannabe
This place always struck me as kind of a wannabe upscale restaurant. It has the right atmosphere but just not the food to match. The clientele seem to think it is upscale intend to dress that way but I wasn't impressed. I would return to take a client are some other occasion like that
Be the first to ReplyExcellent ribs
The food was so good. The service was great. I ordered a mojito and it tasted weird. No issue exchanging it for a mimosa. I would definitely go back. Itโs just the parking lot thatโs a nightmare.
Be the first to ReplyFelt like a chain restaurant
The food was good a bit overpriced. Service was good. Felt a bit rushed. It is a good standard if you donโt mind the expense.
My friends go there a lot
Burger that Won't Fit in your Mouth!
Houston's is great for lunch albeit busy and not inexpensive. It's a hip place where you can see them cooking. Pick a table under a light otherwise you won't be able to read the menu. The burgers are so big that you have a hard time picking them up to eat and fit in your mouth. Decide whether to cut them up. They are known for their fresh meats. Dinners can be a bit pricey.
