Husk Charleston Reviews from The Last Year

Husk is a cool renovated house turned restaurant that is known for having a different menu every day. Our group of three came in on a Sunday for brunch and it wasn't too busy, but I do recommend reservations. To start, we had the buttermilk doughnuts with lemon glaze and my friends loved them but there was something about them I didn't like. It wasn't the lemon glaze.. that was delicious. But idk I just was not obsessed with the doughnut taste itself. For meals, I had the fried chicken with honey drizzle and a biscuit. The chicken was so crispy and delicious and the biscuit was too. However, it did feel like it was missing some gravy. The mushroom and Boursin omelette was good but again nothing to brag about. My friend got the fried rice with beef short rib and an egg and that was by far the favorite meal of the bunch. It was delicious and full of flavor. Definitely order this if it's on your menu! Husk advertised their mimosas served with fresh squeezed orange juice, but unfortunately the drink itself just tasted like watered down champagne... bummer! The espresso martinis were my least favorite of the whole weekend because they were VERY strong and tasted like straight vodka until I stirred it a bit. Overall, the food was good but we liked a couple other brunch spots better but I'd be willing to try again with a different menu.
Amazing food.
Outstanding service. You can tell the food is locally sourced by the quality of the ingredients. And kudos to the guy who set the tables up. We watched him clear, clean and set up several tables and he was very metticulous. If you can get reservations...do!
Wonderful dining spot
Elegant fine dining, great space and delicious fare. Despite coming late at night, we were served with grace and made welcome. The dishes were superb.
Fine meal, did not meet my lofty expectations
Very high expectations, a little disappointed in the food. Great bar, charming ambiance. Our server Rob was warm and professional. The cornbread and collards were exceptional, and I don’t even like collards! The $17 glass of wine was fine. The dumplings were good, but not exceptional. I was very excited about the locally sourced tile fish, and it was plated beautifully, but a little overcooked. So, a fine meal, but did not meet my lofty expectations.

We have been to the two other locations, and this one is the actual flagship restaurant, and just like the others, it was a wonderful experience. Their version of banana bread was other worldly and was beyond belief. Our server was passionate, friendly and enthusiastic. The food was delicious and the cocktails were next level. The restaurant itself is beautiful and every employee clearly loves what they do. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as did clearly everyone else.
Deserves to be a 5 star restaurant
Husk is hands down the BEST restaurants in Charleston! Husk has a very attentive and knowledgeable staff from servers to their female Sommelier! Everything we ordered was delicious and served hot! We will definitely return next time we’re in Charleston. BRAVO

What a wonderful meal! The wait staff was professional and attentive, the presentation was not overdone, and the food was perfection.
Definitely go
Great food, ambiance and service! Devil eggs were so good. The bar next door also amazing. Quaint with great selection of whiskey!
One of Charleston's most compelling restaurants, Husk never
One of Charleston's most compelling restaurants, Husk never fails to exceed expectations -- delivering amazing dishes, outstanding cocktails and impeccable service, all in a relaxed and welcoming setting. On a recent dinner visit, my wife and I were absolutely blown away by the flavors that arrived at our table, from the delicious Carolina Gold Fried Rice and succulent Shrimp Dumplings that we shared as appetizers, to the mind-blowing Pastrami Short Rib and Pork Ribeye we ordered for our entrees. The setting is classy but casual -- you'll fit in perfectly in jeans and a polo shirt -- and seating is available both inside and on the covered second-floor porch. Reservations are a MUST, but try to arrive early to enjoy a cocktail (or two) in the adjacent Husk Bar -- a fabulously eccentric (and somewhat crowded) lounge in an historic building next to the main restaurant. The Husk Old Fashioned and the signature Dragoon's Punch are two of the best cocktails in Charleston, and Bourbon lovers will appreciate the bar's extensive selection. Husk is committed to serving modern lowcountry dishes sourced from local farms in the surrounding region. If your perception of Southern cuisine is collard greens, grits and fatty BBQ, this restaurant will change it forever. The dishes rotate daily, but you can always expect a world-class experience, impeccable presentation and unforgettable service. I can't recommend it highly enough.

One of the best dishes of our trip was the biscuits and gravy here for brunch. The flavor was out of this world. First time we've had oatmeal griddle cakes. They were sooo good. Will want them again. Lemon buttermilk donuts were just okay. Too dry and lacking flavor. They should dunk them in the glaze, but they just drizzle them. Really good coffee and Bloody Mary.

Definitely worth the hype! The restaurant itself is beautiful and truly gives off an authentic Charleston charm. The food was absolutely delicious - the fish, cornbread, oysters, rabbit pot pie - everything was 10/10. Definitely would go back!

Had to try, saw much about this place, great ambience and the smells from outside were amazing! We had to make a reservation about 2-3 weeks in advance, for 2, and could only get 9pm on a Saturday, no holiday, in early Feb. With all the raving reviews and the amount of people here (PACKED) I had very high expectations. Even though our reservation was around 9, we only got seated 20-25 minutes after our reservation time. Then it took about 10 minutes to even get water or see our waiter. I get it's busy and there's staff shortage everywhere but even tables that sat around the same time of us were getting served sooner. Service didn't get much better from there.... When the restaurant emptied out around 10:30-11 pm, we ordered just 2 scoops of ice cream and that took almost 20 minutes to make it to our table in a near empty restaurant. The staff definitely prioritized cleaning up and putting away everything, just not us ... would have been 3 stars because of service alone but the food-- Food was delicious!! We had the rabbit pot pie which was so tender and flavorful. Loved the flaky/crunchy pastry. The meat was not gamey at all! We also had a southern fried rice dish which was THE BEST - crispy, blasts of flavor from the sauces with that Asian chili oil finish. I loved the combo of a southern/Asian dish with rice (an import the area was known for!) The sea bass we had was alright. The sweet potato sauce that dressed it was decadent, but the fish itself was bland. Corn bread is large for a party of two... it's a shame they only make a large chunk considering how many couples I saw eating there. Ice cream was interesting.... We loved the banana rum but not the other, too sweet and fudgy. Overall, a good place to try if it's your first time down and you can snag a reservation but I wouldn't be too pressed to get one.More like 3.5-4.
The service and ambiance were fantastic.
We ordered the carbonara, short rib and cornbread. Everything was a 10/10. The short rib is a must. Make sure you visit Husk if you are visiting Charleston for the first time.
Went to the bar at Husk.
Great ambience upstairs. Although we only had the fries and fried chicken slider, it was tasty.
Great bar experience!
We had heard good reviews for the restaurant but weren't that hungry. We decided to have cocktails and apps in the bar and patio area. The upstairs bar was cozy and inviting. Our waitress Lauren was so welcoming. The fish dip was excellent but have to say (and this seems crazy), but they had absolutely the best fries we have ever eaten! Will definitely be back for the bar and the restaurant!
Absolutely amazing! Do not miss out on this experience!
Do not miss this experience. So glad we made early reservations a month in advance. From drinks to appetizers to entrees and desserts everything , absolutely everything was unbelievable. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Certainly one of the top dining experiences any of us had ever had. I wish I could give it ten stars!
More Than A Meal…
Two friends and I were in Charleston for four days celebrating my 65th birthday. My youngest daughter recommended Husk and made our reservation. I’m so glad she did. We had great meals in Charleston and this was hands down our favorite. It was more than a meal…it was an experience! Our server, Tal, was so personable and knowledgeable, and made sure we were treated like royalty. This will my new go-to when in Charleston.
Yum!
The menu here changes, nearly daily, to accommodate the freshest ingredients. The service, menu and food were all top notch and one of the best we had while visiting Charleston. Highly recommend this one - reservations needed!
First class meal and ambiance
Delicious food, attentive service and classy atmosphere is what we found when we went to Husk on New Year's Eve. We started off with drinks in the next door bar - a very charming place that is worth popping into even if you aren't eating at the restaurant. Everyone at the table enjoyed a different entree - catfish, beef, chicken and pork - and all were pleased with their selections. While pricey, the portions were good and we appreciated the creative and tasty presentations that did not involve the "usual" side accompaniments. Dessert was a great way to end the evening. We had dined here one time before a few years back but enjoyed this meal and there service much more than our prior experience.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
