Great Westside Stay
The porter, concierge, maintenence, and cleaning personnel all went above and beyond my expectations. Eduardo helped us get settled in a friendly manner although he was obviously busy. I didn't expect Cindy to clean, but she gave me coffe, waters, clean towels, pulled trash, and cleaned the floor. After 16 years, she is still enthusiastic about her work. The junior suite was spacious and comfortable. We liked the location and the hypoallergenic feel. The cleaning supplies smelled fress, but not overwhelming like our previous hotel. The design is functional and hip. The price was competitive for NY.
Be the first to ReplyHotel lives up to its name!!!
Very nice hotel in the artsy part of town. Very close to multiple museums. Very different atmosphere from midtown where I stayed for the beginning of my trip. More neighborhood/family oriented away from the hustle and bustle. A nice way to end my visit as this area seemed very calming and serene for me!
Be the first to ReplyNo microwaves in hotel!
This location is quiet, which is nice, but it's not super close to a subway stop (the closest one was under construction and you could only go downtown from it, but not uptown, which made things more complicated). I was given a better room than I paid for since they were out of queen rooms, so that was nice. There is plenty of storage space, which is awesome. So annoying when rooms have no place to put your stuff! The toilet handle was a bit tricky but it worked. I asked for and was given a mini-fridge but BEWARE! There is not a single microwave in the entire hotel (nor at CVS across the street, the restaurant next door, nor the bakery/bar in the hotel lobby) so if you have leftovers, you will not be able to heat them up. You will have to throw them away, a sad prospect :-( The front desk women were not helpful nor sympathetic to my plight. I had some amazing Greek meatballs in orzo I wanted to eat but had to toss it due to this problem. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and never encountered one without a microwave anywhere. A bit mystifying and frustrating! There are lights over the head of the bed (in the ceiling) that shine directly down into your face, which is not restful when you're lying down, trying to read in bed or something. It needs side table lamps. The free pastries in the morning was great, esp. the cheese danish. Highly recommend that one! The lobby in the evening is lively and there is a band sometimes and people dance. It was a cool spot. I took one star off due to the subway situation plus the lack of a microwave/front desk staff's indifference to my dilemma about this.
Be the first to ReplyBedBugs and bugs in the bathroom
Never stay here. It looks wonderful online and is in a great location. But the Cleanliness sign outside is a "D" which is strategically hidden behind their plant flower entrance. I saw several disgusting silver fish bugs in the bathroom, and I woke up with BedBug bites. What is worse is that the front desk clerks didnt seem to care. I asked to speak to the GM and was never contacted. I checked out early to get out of the hotel .

Great location! Cindy, the house keeper did such a good job keeping the room tidy and provided such great service! Also the hotel is in a prime location, right next to Central Park, Levain, Broadway Street, and Saba Pizza. Overall, I highly recommend staying here!
Be the first to ReplyVery nice stay in good location on Upper Westside.
The welcome at the front desk was good and check in very efficient. The lobby and bar area is really nice to have a coffee, breakfast or evening drink and hang out. Staff are very friendly. The room was very small but clean and functional. It’s a bit bare and lacks any real comfort features. I would stay here again but I’d definitely ask for a bigger room next time.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful place to stay
Such a great stay. Son and I came for college visits. (We had two rooms) Convenient location. Helpful and thoughtful front desk. Bakery in the lobby is kosher which was great. Rooms not fancy but comfortable - everything we needed. Clean. Would definitely return!
Be the first to ReplyToo Expensive for the Type of Service You'll Receive
Overall, I liked my experience here because of location, the cleanliness, and the cafe downstairs. The cafe staff were amazing. The front staff were a bit dry when it came to check-in processes on Sunday March 3rd. A staff member should not be described as dry or someone who doesn't approach you first when it comes to waiting in line after a long flight. Lastly, when I left, I was promised that the Uber driver policy between the hotel and Newark would be covered under a certain amount. I made sure before purchasing an Uber that it was going to be covered by Arthouse Hotel, and multiple times the check-out employee said it would be. I took the car which came late to the airport thinking that I was covered, only to have to pay the extra charge of $120 to the driver. Now, when I was looking at the charges for Uber without the hotel being involved the charges were at $104 from the Arthouse Hotel. That $16 could have been money for lunch or something else.
Be the first to ReplyConcert Fun!
We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Beacon Theater, which was perfect for our weekend of concerts. That being said, we would stay there again for the location and convenience - it's great spot to start your days while visiting NYC and it has a lively vibe without it feeling crowded or noisy.
Be the first to ReplyDog friendly hotel with a modern vibe!
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Very safe and secure with staff watching everyone coming in and out of the building. Instead of the usual poly carpet, they have wood floors in the rooms. The mattress was also much higher quality than most hotels. Room had a patio and was very quiet.
Be the first to ReplyWhat A Great Way To End The Night!
My wife and I have stayed at the Arthouse many times and we have always been more than satisfied, but this past weekend's stay was the best! While the temperature outside was frigid we sat and listened to some great live music just off the Arthouse lobby. We also had dinner at Serafina and even though we didn't have reservations they sat us immediately! The entire Arthouse staff was once again top notch...friendly and professional. They couldn't do enough for us.
Be the first to ReplyUnforgettable, That's What ArtHouse Is, So Incredible!
Took my wife out for an unforgettable 4 days in the city and The Arthouse helped make our trip so incredible. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the doorman who was always available for service and the front desk/bell staff to help us check in. The fresh breakfast bakery bar was spot on for our quick and specific needs. We booked a basic Queen room and were given a corner Queen room which was larger than expected and included a chair, which we thought we read otherwise in reviews before us. The bed, the shower...everything was very clean & comfortable. On Friday night, we returned to a live jazz concert in lobby. What a perfect way to return home, it was so relaxing and exactly what we needed. We can't wait to return to the ArtHouse for our next visit to MONH, Central Park, and The Met...all only a very short walk from The Arthouse!!
Be the first to ReplySmall hotel with a lot of excellent service!
The Arthouse Hotel is perfectly located for the west side of town. The lobby is broken into multiple areas along with a small restaurant which adds to the charm. Each night there is varied entertainment for the guests if you want to hang out. The service from top to bottom was great and everyone made us feel welcome. The rooms are small but very clean, stylish, and with a comfortable bed. Since we go to NY to do everything but sleep, that is not an issue. You can't go wrong with this hotel and they run room rate specials so check it out!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing hotel
The Arthouse Hotel was awesome. The lobby is so friendly to sit for drinks, coffee, conversation. The staff were excellent. Mattresses were amazing. So many kiddos about The Arthouse. A must stay if it works for your area of town. Close toCentral Park. CVS across the street for any needs. Stay Here!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible
Terrible sums it up. The front counter is rude and acts as if they are irritated when they are asked a question. The front counter did not explain any charges that will be charged to your card. I was only asked to initial and sign the paper work.
Be the first to ReplyRoom was dirty
Our room was dirty. The floor was gross. The fan didn’t work so I told the front desk about both issues and she immediately offered us a new room, which I appreciated. The next room had a very dirty floor as well. I wiped it with a pillowcase and it was disgusting. On Saturday morning the boiler broke so I had a freezing shower. The manager was nice about it and when I complained, he took off 50% from 1 nights stay. He said he would talk to the cleaning staff but nothing changed. Maybe they cleaned and it’s ground in dirt. All I know is I wouldn’t walk in the floor barefoot. The room size and location was good, but I don’t plan to go back.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant Stay in Great Location
My partner and I stayed at the Arthouse Hotel for a weekend work/pleasure trip. We chose the hotel because of the location and affordable price. The hotel is within walking distance of the Metropolitan Art Museum, the Natural History Museum, Central Park, and a myriad of bars and restaurants. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. The room was exceptionally clean, and the lobby/ bar/cafe was fantastic and convenient. The only tiny glitch was that we didn’t have hot water on the first morning of our stay, which was also the morning of our work event. It was frustrating to not be able to shower when I was already anxious about the event. However, we let the hotel staff know, and they were extremely apologetic, the issue was fixed by the time we returned from the work event, and they removed the resort fee from our bill. Things happen, but I feel they did everything they could to rectify the situation. I would highly recommend the Arthouse Hotel. In fact, I plan to return for a trip with my daughter in a couple of months.
Be the first to ReplyFelt like a guest at a private home ... amazing location
We were greeted like long lost friends on arrival and nothing was too much trouble. The best location in NY being on the red tube line which takes you everywhere without any need to change. Friday night live jazz in the bar whilst drinking cocktails was the highlight of the trip - four elderly gentleman dressed up like the Blues Brothers... singing Louis Armstrong. The bar was full of colourful local characters with whom we danced the night away. Thank you everyone at Art House for making my daughter's 21st trip so memorable!
Be the first to ReplyA bit sterile
I try to visit a different hotel each time I see my daughter, who attends college in NYC. I didn’t care for this one. The staff was attentive and friendly, though. And the bar/restaurant was good. So I guess my complaint was the room. No carpet and all-metal furnishings made the room cold and echo-y. The bed was comfy, though. Just not the place for me.
Be the first to ReplyUnprofessional, rude staff-- peeling paint in rooms
I was there on business. From the minute I checked in, the front desk staff was rude and unprofessional. They treat you as if you are interrupting them. I've never experienced anything like it. I saw it happen to other people as well, who also complained about it in the elevator. There is manager, Jose, who apparently is trying to rectify the issues in this hotel and was helpful. But it wont change my mind about ever staying there again. When I got to my room, which was one of the suites, not a basic room, there was a damp smell in the room, the paint on the walls looks like it's peeling. There was hair in the bathroom, that certainly wasn't mine and the shower hadn't been cleaned properly. I was paying for a high end room with a balcony,. This room did have a lovely view of the Hudson but the damp smell in the first night was too much. They switched my room to a smaller one, with views of buildings, still a balcony and at least it didn't have that smell. But when I asked the front desk to make sure it was still the same level room I was paying for and to not have a room near the elevator, she basically ignored me. And my room was next to the elevator. The managers way to resolve this was to give me two free drink cards. Seriously?? I was too busy to move again and exhausted at the thought of having to deal with the front desk again. They are terrible. Awful experience. Also the hotel is going through a major renovation so there is construction everywhere. But that would be acceptable if they had a staff that weren't so rude. I will never stay here again.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Hotel | Great Location
My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Arthouse hotel before moving to our next stop. The hotel room was a bit small, but was clean, all the facilities worked. The staff were very friendly. There are several restaurants and stores nearby which makes finding food and other amenities easy. would stay again on our next trip.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Place I’ve EVER stayed!
Someone (most likely on staff) stole my AirPods, Apple Watch charger, plugs and cords. Security wouldn’t share what was on surveillance footage and we never received the refund we were promised. Lies upon lies from the staff. Lies upon lies from the staff. We even filed a police report and the staff wouldn’t share video footage with them either. Very very disappointing. Don’t. Stay. Here!!!
Be the first to ReplyFamily of Four
The location is great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, there is room for a lot of facility improvements. We had a double queen suite - very spacious and clean. The bathroom is another story - the suites are handicap accessible which is great - but gave it a very summer camp feel. Our shower head was in the middle of the wall, removable and you could hold it - but who wants to do that. The hallways were very run down and seems to be undergoing construction. I bought flip flops at the CVS to wear in the bathroom and shower. Think college dorm bathroom. The bar doesn't open until 5 - so if you choose this hotel based on amenities - it's not great. You can go next door and grab a drink, which is fairly common but the hotel amenity advertising is a little misleading. I know hotels had it hard with COVID and we knew we weren't staying at a Ritz - but for the price - we expected better. I think airbnb's are in our future - many of the hotels are just run-down. Fortunately we didn't spend much time at the hotel - so we still had a fantastic trip - but relaxing in our room was NOT an option. Tip - hotel can arrange a driver to and from the airport and it's less expensive than uber. Sorry ArtHouse but you need to GUT the bathrooms - ASAP! Offer bottle of wine or beverage service - or open the dang bar for customers to have a morning mimosa!!!
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievable unfriendly receptionists
I never had such unfriendly people in hotel behind the reception area. Due to a mix up with the reservation we had to change rooms on our last night in NYC after living on the UWS for four years and all the people at the reception were extremely unhelpful and almost rude. The downgraded its the smallest room available after we paid almost $450 for the room. And we had stayed there for lamest a week already. Really a very disappointing experience! Pros for the hotel: location, nice restaurant inside, Cons: small rooms, except the one on the 15th floor with balcony, unhelpful reception, elevator issues almost every day

Great location, nice staff needs some updating but good overall. The stairs in the lobby are not convenient for luggage but te lobby was nice with great looking social spaces and conveniently adjacent to restaurants and cafes.
