Old favourite rediscovered
Was a frequent patron at the old location. They have never disappointed at serving great tasting food at an affordable price. Only recently did I find out about their new location. Still great tasting and affordable. Highlights that Iโd recommend are the Crab grilled Beancurd, deep fried intestines and San Lou Bee Hoon.

Actually the place looked very simple, but was full of guests, unlike several places nearby, so we decided to give it a try. And we were not mistaken. We had the most amazing chicken soup with herbs, delicious sweet and sour fish and excellent fried rice with crab meat. The dinner was a real pleasure for us. The service is great too - friendly and very fast. Highly recommend. While we were at it we saw many local people coming in for takeaway food, which is also a sign of good quality.

Pass by a few times while in joo Chiat and finally went in for a quick Lunch on a Super hot Wed afternoon.
Restaurant ? Like a old coffee shop and just 1 aircon is not really working well. Looks really ran down with mix and match chairs and tables.
Utensils were stacked so tightly in holders and sauces containers were oily and sticky yucks !
Hope the food can redeem the above.
At hawker prices we expected just something edible. More than 50 dishes on their menu including seafood. Saw 2 tanks with bull frog and crabs at the entrance.
Recommended Penang Big prawn noodle soup and a dry ala clam white vemicilli beehoon.
Despite telling my choice of yellow noodle and white vemicilli it came in just yellow noodle and 3 miserable looking prawns (heads loose and shell white from frozen too Long - see photo). No โkickโ for the soup
๐. Maybe JB is too far from Penang (south to the north) then donโt offer this dish.
Heard the cook asking Clam bee Hoon is white or dark ? Waiter told him itโs written on order so he recook again. Clams taste tough tasteless being frozen too Long. Disappointed.
No other customers for the 45 mins we were there. Strange they still charge GST will they qualify ? No receipt been issued. No bother as Not coming back
Simple & delicious
Came by this restaurant (Kopi tiam styled) along Joo Chiat. Attracted by the name JB, reminiscent of good Johor Bahru food. It was not disappointing, the dishes were very tasty and delicious. We ordered a plate of fried rice with CHINESE sausage, really tasty. The hot plate tofu, fried eggs with tomatoes and prawn paste chicken were all above average. Clean environment and prompt service. Rare find indeed

Tried this restaurant 2 years ago. Like it and every time, I want to have good reasonable priced food without the additional unnecessary, I would bring my guests there. It is somewhat like an a/c kopitiam restaurant with the "Malaysia Restaurant" feel. Those who have eaten at coffee shops in Malaysia knows what I mean. The food is good, varied and (I think w/o msg as I don't feel thirsty after finishing the meal). I went there with my family in December 2017, on a Saturday. The place was packed. Had another dinner meal on a weekday in January 2018. It was much better and had an unhurried meal. Very satisfied. My guest loved it and reserve another meal date with his colleagues for staff lunch.
Be the first to ReplySimply Delicious Local Stir Fried food at reasonable prices dining with the locals
If you are looking for delicious Stir Fried Food, this is the place. Not a posh restaurant, dine with the locals, casually dressed, eating in comfort. For the Caucasians and those with the mindset that Chinese cuisine is sweet sour pork -order their delicious special pork ribs. For a change in taste try the coffee pork ribs. If a local type dinner set is desired try the fried baby squids, stir fried Petai (smelly beans) with prawns, Tau Fu and Hot Pot Fish Soup with pickled vegetables accompanied by plain rice or fried rice. The soup is in a hot pot with burning charcoal and is refillable free of charge. (soup only not ingredients)
No problem ordering as they have a menu. The food as "wok hey", chinese description of stir fried food stir fried in a wok of the correct temperature imparting good taste with good fragrance. You need to taste to understand the meaning of wok hey.
There is a large public carpark in front of the restaurant. Or take a MRT and then a bus to the place. Take the MRT Circle line alight at Dakota and take the number 16 bus in the direction from the city. Get alight at the second bus stop after it turns into Joo Chiat Road. No problem with wheel chairs and kids. Vegetarians can order just veg and rice. The area is safe and well lit. Good Desert shop Gobi serving cheese cakes and coffee/tea to the left Facing the restaurant.
The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, reservations by phone is possible.
The prices at point of review are very reasonable for the quality of the food.
