We went last night for dinner, sat at the bar.
Got to watch the very friendly-entertaining bartender. We shared the Kompachi cerveche appetizer. My husband had crab cakes & I had the scallops. Key lime pie for dessert, we each got our own. Wow!! We were pleasantly impressed by everything & the service. 10/10 recommend.

Saturday, March 3rd, 2024, My friends and I reserved a table for dinner at the Charlotte Street location. Not only was our food suburb, but our server Ed, was the best server. He's engaging, happy and seems to really enjoy what he does. And, he does it well! We will return to Jettie Rae's and when we do I hope Ed is still around. He made our evening even more delightful. Thank you Ed, Benjamin, George and Rita

WOW! This might be one of my new favorite restaurants in Asheville. Service: Everyone here was so friendly. We had to move our reservation to a different time, and the staff were very accommodating about it. We immediately felt warmly welcomed when we stepped inside. Our server was attentive but let us order at our own pace. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great suggestions! Food: To start, we had the trout dip and a half dozen oysters. The trout dip was phenomenal and the oysters were fresh and delicious. For our mains, I had the fish and chips and my husband had the gumbo. No complaints here! I also tried their drink special, which was a beet cocktail - very unique and so tasty! Ambiance - we sat in the heated covered patio section, which was super cozy. The inside and bar area looked really trendy too. I definitely want to come back in the summer time and sit outside! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Jettie Rae's, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Be the first to ReplyWe were fortunate to get in to Jettie Rae's for the second
We were fortunate to get in to Jettie Rae's for the second time in a month, over the holidays, having been there over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is a special place that remembers you after one month, and we were greeted very pleasantly. Our reservation was for the outer room, but there was space at the bar and we took that. What a great time we had! It was wonderful interacting with the kitchen staff (mainly visually) and with the bar staff, and this really added to our experience. Service was excellent throughout. I enjoyed an appetizer of several different oysters, which were outstanding. Jettie Rae's commands the best quality oysters, and these were again the best of our entire week of eating out. My entree of Outer Banks scallops was excellent, as was my wife's Crab Rice. We knew from our previous experience that the Key Lime pie was to die for, so we shared that again. They have an expansive wine list, but sadly they do not have a good selection of local draft beers. For the price, it's difficult to get a better meal anywhere. We will return to Jettie Rae's whenever we are within a few hundred miles.

I'm am almost 60 years old and I just had the BEST burger in my life. 7 for dinner. We ordered everything on the menu plus some. From the burger to the seafood tower.... They were spot on! Warning, Thai could be a long review. The burger was like a double cheese mad burger with absolutely NO grease!!! AND.... It was cooked perfectly ( medium rare) AND came out H. O. T. HOT and stayed warm to the last nite. The flavor profile was melt in your mouth goodness. The Fries. AGAIN. they were pure heaven. They take 3 days prepping their hand cut fries My sister and niece had the po boys. They ship the bread in from New Orleans. I am a seafood SNOB. Grew up on the beach and the river of Nee Smyrna Beach. I refuse to eat shrimp from a restaurant because they are always minimally flash frozen and I can taste that chemical a mile away. Can I just say the shrimp was a delightful surprise!!!! The oysters were fresh, clean, cold and they had your briny or milky profile of oysters. I naturally ate the briny oysters and they were SO good My mezcal old fashion was a special treat. The homemade deserts exceeded our expectations. I live in florida and already planning a quick trip back for a few days just to have another meal there again soon.

The experience was the best! From the friendly staff, the decor, the pace, and total ambiance. Our server Ira was a total expert on the offerings and connected with each of us. The menu is concise, and mixed classic Southern dishes with a bit of New England for variety. Each item was carefully presented, gorgeous to look at and magic to taste. Oysters were clean shells, super fresh scent and delivered by the chef, each variety labelled and curated by him. My Gullah crab and rice was pure memory of the islands. The Boston clam strips were also perfect. Cocktails and beers crafted and presented as little works of art. Yeah, I'll be back!

When you Google the best oysters in Asheville, this is the place that comes up first...and there is a very good reason why! Heather, our server, was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. As we considered which oysters we were going to begin with, and what entrees we were looking at, she was quick to let us know that there not a lot of servings of there tuna belly special left. We would have been disappointed if she'd not given us that heads up. We started with a dozen oysters of four different varieties. They were EXCEPTIONAL! We followed up with the scallop dinner and the tuna belly special. Both entrees were delicious. They were not large portions, but absolutely wonderful! We sat at a table (versus the bar or out on the patio) and it was delightful. The vibe was quiet, comfortably lit, and a modern, seaside feel. We chose more oysters for "dessert" in lieu of something sweet-the oysters were simply THAT GOOD! Overall, nothing short of a wonderful ex

5 Star Seafood and Service As always, the food was delicious and the wine was perfect. The conversation was so enjoyable we stayed for dessert and that was over the top, each more decadent than the last. But what truly made this dinner experience exceptional was our attentive and personable server, HEATHER. From opening the wine to tempting us to try the baked/grilled oysters and treating us to a dessert so we could sample ALL that was offered, it was a dinner to remember! As recent locals we always go to Jettie Rae's when seafood is what we're craving. From now on, we'll be asking for Heather to be sure every aspect of the evening is five star!

Wide selection of oysters (saw a previous review of too little cocktail- secret: you don't need it on good oysters!), and delicious cocktails. Our go to order: dozen (or 2) oysters, fisherman's stew, and the best cheeseburger in town. Always walk away happy!
Be the first to ReplyI came away hungry.
My $33 fish was hardly a serving. The oysters are not NC ones. The cocktail I got was two or three sips in size. No draft/craft beers. Very disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyWe were really excited to try this place out while staying
We were really excited to try this place out while staying in Asheville. We came in at around 7:45 on a Wednesday night. The atmosphere was quiet and well decorated. I really enjoyed the color scheme and the low key dark decor. Our waitress was extremely polite and friendly. While leaving we forgot something and she came running out to bring it to us! (Thank you!!)We started with the raw clams and oysters. I had the submarine oysters and they may have been the best oysters I have had ever. They were extremely fresh and crisp. They were expensive but I would get them again even at that price point. We also shared the the oysters bienville. My boyfriend really enjoyed them and wanted to get some more. We shared the special kamapachi ceviche which was fresh but not something I would get again. Lastly we shared the low country shrimp and grits. This meal is not the first thing I would go for but it was extremely tasty here and I would get this again. Overall we enjoyed our experience here but I would recommend getting your own entree if you are feeling pretty hungry.

Have had 2 bad experiences there. Vinnies and Jettie Rae's have very snooty staff, bad service, and overpriced items. Hostess ignored us at the hostess stand. Once she sat us, she let us know that the table was "reserved" in 2 hours?? We were served cold soup in a very large flat bowl and left sick from the oysters.
Be the first to ReplyThe oysters were good, the service - and we sat at the bar
The oysters were good, the service - and we sat at the bar which in most restaurants is always good - was unwelcoming and rushed. The bartender / server was snarky, rude and on warp speed (we were there around 5:30, well before the crowds arrived and it wasn't busy). There is a 3% fee added on automatically - who does this? The prices are high enough to cover the staff without panhandling for more. They make a big deal about the crab rice, it's dry and tasteless..and $30, for rice? No, not worth it at all. The lobster roll has crab and lobster - don't bother for the price it's not worth it and a lobster roll should be just that - a lobster roll. Go for the oysters but nothing else. Their reputation has gotten the better of them - lots of hype and attitude to go with it.

FOOD POISONING! We went to Jetti Rae's to celebrate 2 birthdays in my family and the hostess confirmed but didn't tell the server that it was our birthdays. Then my husband ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and he got food poisoning that evening at 3 AM and was sick the entire next day. We called to let them know and they didn't call back until 2 days later and said that it couldn't be from them. They were snooty about it and not nice at all. We will never go back there.
Be the first to Replyunderwhelmed by this restaurant.
no dishes stood out and left a gnarly oily taste in our mouth (literally). quite expensive for what you're getting and you're not getting much.
Be the first to ReplyThe service and ambiance was fantastic.
My only complaint about the food was the octopus dish. It was a little heavy on the smoked paprika and it was over powering a perfectly cooked octopus. The rest of the dishes were great and tasted fresh. I will come back!!!
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I loved this restaurant for his birthday
My husband and I loved this restaurant for his birthday outing last night. I had nice wine and my husband loved his cocktail. We started with the ricotta crab toast, which was very unique, light, and just really to die for. We loved it and could have eaten it for hours. We also had the mussels, which came with a thick, flavorful broth with garlic, scallions, and fresh herbs. The bread they serve from New Orleans is fantastic with the mussels. Same to be said for the Fisherman's stew which was my entree. The stew was fish stew perfection and I was so, so happy eating it. They have their broths down. Very impressive. My husband had the fish and chips, which he liked, but I felt lagged far behind the other dishes. I would rethink the batter on that fish. The dish felt like an after thought compared to everything else we had to eat at Jettie Rays. We finished with the Key Lime Pie, which was perfectly delicious, home made goodness, and not too sweet. The service was impeccable, which is sometimes not a thing in Asheville. All in all, we loved it and and can't wait to go back to try all of the other delicious dishes. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyVisited Jettie Rae's on a Sunday night.
We were seated in the front which can be converted to a outside space but it was very comfortable and warm. Ed was our server and was very attentive and gave great suggestions. Had the crab, ricotta, squash, toast 4.5/5. The oysters were delicious 5/5. We also had the crab cakes 5/5, crab rice 5/5 and the house-made ginger beer. The key lime pie was also very good. Would definitely recommend if you looking for really good seafood!

This is a relaxed atmosphere , the vibe is energized and I'm having a good time. The balance of high it's not overally crowded. So the ambiance of voices fill the air in a full wave of cascading sounds that can be soothing. The food was presented well... the flavors popped. Service was presented direct with very little engagement. I would return for a meal at Jettie Rae's again.. Thanks for a cool vibes
