Truly Special
An absolutely wonderful evening courtesy of the JoJo team, perfect from start to finish. The reception was warm and friendly, our terrific server was the best (I wish I remembered his name), yummy meal, in fact everyone there seemed to go out of their way to make us happy. I can't think of the last time I had that experience in a restaurant anywhere, much less New York. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyNew Year’s Eve disappointment- bad timing on a night when time matters most
We had booked a 9 o’clock seating to celebrate the New Year at midnight. It was four courses and a complimentary glass of champagne. The room was nicely decorated, with festive masks on the table. However, the wait staff was rushing us through the meal. Our first waitress left, explaining she would now be free to go celebrate somewhere else. Our second waiter was unable to smile or be friendly. Even though we asked him to slow down, our courses were following so tightly upon one another that we barely had time to enjoy them. We were planning on ordering coffee after dessert because it was only 11:15 but another waiter just placed the bill on our table, which I thought was really rude, premature and uncalled for. I had the impression they didn’t want us to be there. I talked to the manager and she was quite condescending. She said, “oh no there is no rush, you don’t have to leave now if you don’t want to, you’re welcome to sit and wait until midnight.” I thought that was the whole point! - their timing was definitely off. The champagne was brought at 11:45 and got warm but we toasted at midnight and then left quickly. I think it would behoove a restaurant as pricy as this one to make their guests feel more welcome. New Year’s Eve is all about timing, that should be manageable. And also it’s about celebrating and new beginnings- strangers hug on New Years, people dance, would it be too much to ask the wait staff to suspend their sourness and self-preoccupied attitude to at least offer the illusion that they like to be there for and with their guests?
Be the first to ReplyGreat place!
Our go to family French restaurant in Manhattan. Never disappoints. Service, cocktails, food are always top notch. Nice neighbourhood.

Our experience was disappointing. First, the chairs were oddly uncomfortable, too tall and close to the table and inches above the booth seat at the same table. The service was poor. I know it is difficult to get servers days but we would ask for two drinks and they would come back with one. On three separate occasions the server forgot something for our table and it took a good amount of time before we were able to flag her down. The servers who brought the food set it down in the wrong places. Food was fine but nothing special. Not what you would expect especially considering the prices.
Be the first to ReplyCelebrity Chef's French Bistro
I think the total cost was just over $300 for the appetizer of burrata, the main course of chicken and beef, a bottle of red wine and sparkling water. It is a Jean Georges bistro, but the taste was average, and the service and atmosphere were also average. The burrata did not melt in my mouth.
Be the first to ReplyOrdinary American
Considering the price, it's a typical American restaurant. Nothing was particularly tasty, but nothing was inedible either. In other words, this level of burrata for this price? This level of dry-grilled chicken breast for this price, and this level of grilled meat cooked at a low temperature for this price. The waitress asked me with a sullen look on her face, but it was too much hassle to answer her.
Be the first to ReplyBad Tuesday in NYCrispy town
Jean-George's restaurants have always been suspect in my book, more about who was in them and less about what was served. JoJo's is in a converted E.Side townhouse designed to attract a 20-30s crowd who don't know food, and charge them a lot of money to make them feel as if they do and feel chic. (The upstairs is for the 'cool' crowd, the downstairs is for the wannabes.) The menu is mid-level Indianapolis fern bar, nothing that calls out creativity in the kitchen or appreciation by the clientele. The most valued employee is the menu writer, who comes up with "crispy skin organic" chicken, cheddar cheeseburger with "crispy onions," and "crispy salmon" with "market beans," and on and on with buzz word nothingness to glam up midwestern upscale chain restaurant fare. The wine bar is over-priced, the separate wines by the glass are a minefield of drab. One of us went for a cocktail, three of us for Rosé as a $19/glass default alternative to $15 beer. And the prices are nuts, even for NYC, for the low level of food delivered, even for the low level of glam sought after. About 25-40% above what would be high for the dreary fare the restaurant serves . Which the kitchen also blew at the simplest level, and the wait staff had to deliver cold and over done. On a Tuesday night.
Be the first to Replywe love this place!
Have been going to Jo Jo's for many years. It continues to be excellent in every way (except maybe a bit too crowded and somewhat noisy)...The food, service, drinks...everything is fantastic..we love this place
Be the first to ReplyNot worth it…the food was very good but the ambiance lacking.
This restaurant is uncomfortable. Seats are small - tables close together. And could a smaller coupe glass exist? Food overall was VERY GOOD. I had the chicken, others had the steak, duck and salmon. All done well. The best part of the meal - the cherry pie with pistachio ice cream. OUTSTANDING.

We have eaten here several times before. We requested to eat downstairs as it’s a noisy restaurant, and the music is too loud upstairs, as well as it’s not the easiest steps to get up for someone who has a bad back. We arrived on time and the table downstairs was ready. Our waiter promptly came over and asked us what kind of water we wanted. After bringing the water he took a drink order, brought it and then took our dinner order. We ordered the chicken and the hamburger. While watching, we didn’t understand why it was taking so long since others who came in after us were eating. The waiter came over and apologized for the delay, and brought a complimentary glass of the wine I had ordered and finished. This was good business as far as I’m concerned. Then there was an additional delay and the waiter came, apologized again, and said the burger was over cooked. He then brought over a complimentary kale salad. It wasn’t necessary, but again a nice gesture. We had not ordered an appetizer as we are not large eaters. I ate some of the salad which was good, but too large. Finally the meal came which was tasty, well prepared and well presented. We ordered one desert, the butterscotch pudding, and 2 spoons. The waiter then brought over a complimentary slice of carrot cake. It became comical as things don’t always go right, and they went overboard to apologize. Finally when I asked for the check, they brought 2 espresso’s again complimentary. As my wife only drinks decaf, I had them both as it was very good, and I’m up late writing this review since I cannot sleep as I never drink coffee at night. We will return.

I ended up ordering the burger for a change today. It was delicious. I ordered the broccoli and kale salad. Another 5 stars! Luna took great care of my family. She was wonderful. She recommended the warm chocolate cake for dessert. Thank you for a lovely evening! :-)
Be the first to ReplyIt Was Just OK
I'm having a difficult time reviewing this dining experience. What was there was nice, but it's what wasn't there that stands out. The kitchen was out of 3 items on the menu, and when you have a limited menu, that really reduces your options for dinner. The other thing that was missing was any sense of enthusiasm from the staff. Everyone did their job, but for this level of restaurant, I expected a lot more. There weren't many smiles and the energy was lacking. I will say, the food was delicious, but there is so much more to a meal than just the food.
Be the first to ReplyAn absolutely divine meal
Wow. What a lovely restaurant with outstanding food. A friend and I had a truly divine meal last night at JoJo. The space is warm and fancy-casual, very relaxed. This is matched by service that is similarly inviting and across the board excellent. And then the food: For starters, I had their tweak on a Caesar:Broccoli and Kale Salad, 6-Minute Egg, Parmesan, Mustard Vinaigrette with Herbs. It was just what I wanted, fresh veg, lovely dressing, perfectly cooked egg with runny yolk over everything. My friend had: Warm Seafood Salad, Avocado, Citrus-Shallot Dressing and Parsley. This was killer. The citrus and other flavors were wonderful and it included the most perfectly cooked shrimp either of us have ever had. Entrees. He had Charred Duck Breast, Strawberry and Mustard Seed Pickle, Quinoa and Peas. This was very good, with - oddly since I hate quinoa - the best quinoa you'll ever have in your life. Also some very deep and satisfying flavors. I had Crispy Skin Organic Chicken, Lemon and Olive Oil Potatoes, Fried Onions and Potato Skins . Wow. Just wow. Everything about this dish was perfect. Moist, succulent chicken with crispy skin, the potatoes were mouth watering and we both agreed the onion rings were deliriously perfect. There was a lot of textural wonderfulness going on here. We splurged and had dessert and thank goodness. The carrot cake was terrific... moist and full of warm spice with a wonderful frosting. And then the genius of the night... peach pie. I am from the south. I've eaten, and made, 100's of peach pies over the course of my life. This is hands down the best peach pie I've ever had, ever. I'd fly to NYC and walk from JFK to JoJo to eat this pie. It's that @%#$ good. So... yeah. We loved it! Wonderful night, wonderful place. I can't wait to go back.

Used to be good for singles to eat but now-is service bay and messy. Has Jean George been keeping a watch on what goes?
Be the first to ReplyClassy ambience, good food
I was very impressed with the classy ambience and beautiful architecture/exterior of Jojo, but I was a bit disappointed with my eggs Benedict. I’ve definitely had better renditions of this dish at less fancy/expensive places. I did, however, really enjoy my cocktail and cappuccino.
Be the first to ReplyPickpocket Cafe
A $650 tab for three..for a 3 course meal, two cocktails, and coffee....as part of the Jean Georges food empire..we expected more: dry, wooden slabs of turkey, no gravy. Pecan pie too hard to cut with a knife..curated ice cream that was entirely tasteless. Servers failing to deliver silverware before each course. (Ever try to eat apple pie with your hands ?). And constant "where's my server ?" searches for what was missing.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect if you have a big wallet and an anorexic appetite
Lilliputian portions and Olympian bill. Calamari was a delicious appetizer if only there was more of it. The black bass was tasty and served with a “ side of Brussels sprouts “ which equated to one sprout cut into quarters. Martini was… wait, 23 dollars and two dollars for the three olives. I’m a New York resident and still these prices shocked me.
The charm of the service was equally ungenerous. We went to theatre afterwards and the ticket takers were more welcoming.
To complete the picture -Our JoJo waiter didn’t keep his mask over their nose even after his colleague instructed him to do so. Bathrooms were filthy. Other than that it was a great meal
beautiful quiet spot
We came with a group of friends right after the reopening in late June. While we all have to clip a coupon for the folks who are reemerging and trying their darnedest to serve, this restaurant seemed to struggle. There were folks standing around, or wandering aimlessly, while others practically ran to get service to tables. The food was good, however, and I assume the service will level out to what it was pre-pandemic.
Be the first to ReplySerene, refined experience
This elegant, serene restaurant is the perfect place to stop in for a calm meal amidst the chaos of the city. The entire culinary experience, from the impeccable service to the beautiful dishes, speak of a hushed beauty. The food was gloriously divine, from the salmon to the soups to the cakes. It was obvious that the staff took great pride in preparing great food that was also visually appealing, and overall taking great care of the entire restaurant. It's not a humongous restaurant, but it doesn't feel cramped like some small restaurants in the city.

We had dinner for 5 and were absolutely so impressed with the preparation of the food, the lovely service and the wonderful atmosphere since the redo (we haven't been there in a long time). How nice to spend that kind of money and really receive the excellence the price merits. Each dish was a wonder and we appreciate how hard the kitchen team must work to produce it. Just a lovely evening, thank you.

Lovely! We stopped in for lunch and was wonderfully surprised with this restaurant! We had never been and didn’t know what to expect. Great atmosphere and the food was exquisite.
Be the first to ReplyA beautiful late lunch
We had been mentally promising ourselves to make a point of returning here after an amazing dinner about a year ago. With no good excuse, it took us all of that time to return, and this time for a late lunch. Knowing that this peachy/rosey/creamy-hued restaurant can get very crowded, we purposefully booked a very late lunch time and were glad we did as by the time we arrived there were maybe one or two other tables in the ground floor dining room.
We got seated at a banquette table and were pleasantly surprised there was a Restaurant Week menu, so we took advantage of that. Not surprising was that everything was really delicious. First they happily accommodated my request to take a non-alcoholic cucumber mint soda they make and add some gin to it for me. Yum.
For lunch I had the Greek beet salad, salmon with ginger/chili, and a passion fruit pavlova I still dream about. Loved the big irregularly edged coffee cups.
Service was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and mostly attentive. It was just a lovely relaxed lunch in a comfortable setting that was modern and warm at the same time. And the food was fantastic.
Back again!
Back in NYC , November and December...we ate at JoJo in November and it was so delicious we made reservations for dinner for our December visit and included New York City friends...when we arrived, our fried asked about the possibility of moving us to a quieter space in the restaurant so her husband, who was on his way, could hear our conversations...the did heck and all tables were booked...we ordered our drinks and the hostess came and said there had been a cancellations and she could move us to the back table....perfect place for us to be to catch up after not having seen each other in a year...quieter corner, very comfortable banquette seating...the staff were very attentive, just the right amount of checking back to see what if anything was needed...the Butterscotch Pudding dessert is divine as well as everything else we had!...this will be a must on our next NYC visit!...this is just a lovely restaurant in a brownstone ...can be very lively in noise so book a quiet table area!
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful Christmas lunch
I had the please of spending a few hours here with my 3 adult kids for Christmas lunch. The service was impeccable and the surroundings pleasant and comfortable with the ambience making it feel like a special day. We found the people working here so lovely and the food, which was a 3 course prix fixe meal with many options for us to choose. My boys enjoyed their Wagyu beef tenderloin very much to the point they thought it was the best they had ever had, with the desserts being absolutely sensational, where I had a Gingerbread bundt cake with cranberry sorbet. Visiting New York from Australia and looking for a special Christmas lunch experience for my family, this is exactly what we received. I would highly recommend a visit to Jo Jo Restaurant any time. Just beautful.
