The best tapas in London
Fantastic food and brilliant choice of wines. The service was very attentive, efficient and knowledgable about the wines. Lovely outdoor seating on the street and great to be able to see the Kitchen staff do their thing! The highlight was the pork, some of the best pork we've ever had. Classics of padron peppers, pan con tomato and olives were all delicious. The fish dishes were so tasty, a lot of garlic which we loved - we had the muscles, anchovies and the most delicious flaky, fresh cod. Everything was full of flavour and extremely well cooked. Perfect for a date night or in a small group.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous food, great service.
Great food cooked fresh at the open kitchen. Wonderful selection of Tapas and meals for sharing, or if you want to be selfish, all to yourself. Great food, fabulous service, what more do you need.

A nice little food bar with authentic Spanish food. Well cooked and by that I mean it was cooked properly. You could still be in Barcelona.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food disappointing service charge
We have been meaning to go here for years after we met Jose at Taste London and we talked about our Finca in Spain. The last time I was in this corner shop was 1977, when I used to collect the rolls and sandwiches for MacNeil Press the album sleeve printers in Newam's Row! We travelled the 4 hours from the south coast to get here and met 2 friends. We were lucky to get a table, as it was very busy. Food was good, could not fault it, staff were good and the atmosphere was also great. We were very tightly packed in to the former little shop. I was expecting to pay London prices for the food which was ok, but a 13.5% Service charge, really! Adding £22.28 to our bill! Very disappointing. It spoilt our visit. Not sure if we will make the effort to get back there, shame.
Be the first to ReplyGoat’s cheese and honey
Great little tapas bar. We particularly enjoyed monkfish pilpil, and baked goat’s cheese with honey. The tortilla was also a delight. The place is small and gets very busy so arrive early. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyYour simply the best - Jose.
One of the best tapas bars I have ever visited. This place is so popular - we had to wait 30 mins for table but boy was it worth it. The moment we were seated our waitress took time to explain the menu, give us recommendations and we couldn’t have been looked after better. Berta was amazing. The food was amazing. The timely service was exemplary. I cannot find enough good things to say about Jose. Go and visit. 100% rated by me.
Be the first to ReplySpanish Tapas With Atmosphere
Jose had atmosphere and good food (Spanish Tapas) and friendly service. Very popular and busy and a good place for a Spanish fix. This was one of many interesting places in Bermondsey Street
Be the first to ReplyA Bit of Barcelona on Bermondsey
While researching places to eat during our trip to London, Jose Pizarro's name came up several times. Located in an up-and-coming neighborhood in the Bermondsey section of London, this small, corner tapas restaurant holds big surprises. Even at 9 pm in the evening the place was filled. The staff was friendly and quick to take our order. The daily changing menu was written on a chalkboard which gave the feeling of an authentic Spanish taverna. We ordered 6 plates ranging from meats, seafood and croquetas paired with red wine. The seating is tight. Typically, there is a line to get in, but the food is well worth the wait.
Be the first to ReplyStunningly beautiful
A little hidden gem close to Tower Bridge. Amazing food (we could have been in Spain), beautiful wine and lovely staff. We will be back when in London In December and can’t wait!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing visit
Staff not overly friendly, we just wanted to stop for a glass of wine and a couple of plates of tapas. The waitress glared at us after ordering and said ‘is that all’? It made us feel uncomfortable. The cheese plate was served with little crackers which weren’t that nice- the crusty bread behind the counter would have been much nicer. Whilst the atmosphere was ok there are much nicer Tapas bars in London.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent friendly tapas bar
Just delightful service, lovely wine, delicious food. We were lucky as we walked in and got the last three seats. Chose honeyed goats cheese, the plumo, the garlic chilli prawns, croquettes, clams and prawns and black rice. All fab. Bread really excellent too. Service with a smile and laughter!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect evening
We had such an amazing time at Joses. Managed to get lucky with the timing and sit by the window. Loved the atmosphere and the staff were great. Highly recommend the lamb cutlets, garlic and chilli prawns, goats cheese with honey and olives. Would definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food, great atmosphere and very authentic
Delicious tapas- the best tortilla I’ve ever eaten and the hosts cheese and honey was divine. Very authentic, buzzy atmosphere, great service and good value.
Be the first to ReplyPre globe the theatre meal
We popped in pre-globe theatre and were snuck into the window bar seats. Excellent tapas and good wine. Just the ticket to set us up for King Lear. Well worth a trip.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food and service
Incredible service here at José, food was delicious and fairly priced. The front of house was just so lovely, made us comfortable outside whilst we waited for a table inside to become free. Croquettes and anchovies were our favourite plates but everything was so tasty. The staff were just so friendly, helpful and lovely and the atmosphere cosy and warm. Only downside was the awful music, it wasn’t imposing but was dreary tourist Spanish, needed to be more fun, more spanish less elevator!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Tapas with great atmosphere. Locally spot with great food.
We just happened upon this spot and it was packed with people so we went in. The food was outstanding! Excellent service. Nice ambiance. Definitely a wonderful find!
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot for small plates, a drink, and plenty of laughter.
We popped in for an early evening snack and filled up a bit too much! Stuffed peppers, frittata, croquettes and several other plates over a glass of beer. We were seated outside which was welcomed with the heat, plus inside looked quite full. Absolutely worth going to - everything was fantastic and the menu had plenty of variety
Be the first to ReplyStunning tapas and wine list in a bar setting
Bar type tapas, but you won’t be disappointed. Bar stools and very original tapas. Everything is unreal, nice wine list and decent carajillos. We brought our 9month old and had a great lunch
Be the first to ReplySuch a nice little spot
Nice little restaurant such a buzzy atmosphere, the food was delicious and i would come back as soon as i can.
Be the first to ReplyJust Wow!!!
Been to Jose last night with friends, we had such a lovely time, we were greeted at the door by a lovely and welcoming lady that manage to find us a seat even though was very busy, the waiters were very friendly and the food just wow!! the pluma and monkfish to die for :) definetely coming back, this little gem in bermondsey street needs to be visited more often
Be the first to ReplySave your time and money. RUDE!!
Female waitress rude beyond words. Very arrogant attitude. Walked out and received great service from Italian 5 minutes up the road and not ripped off by eye watering prices. Don’t waste your time!!! ( or money)
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food but not so many vegan options
Slim pickings for vegan options (which is a shame because normally tapas places do a good range of veggie/vegan plates), but the food was excellent. Really great atmosphere in summer too with the outdoor seating.
Be the first to ReplyIf you’re not broke by London prices you will be now!
Nice food, not much of a big menu and sillily over priced. Strange atmosphere when arrived and continued. Wouldn’t recommend.
Be the first to ReplyHype and good marketing sell!
A late review, just noticed that it’s been sat in drafts! Had this restaurant booked for several months before we visited, it was for a special occasion and we (four friends) were really looking forward to it. The hype on TV around Jose had made us believe this place was better than it was. In reality it’s nothing special and they certainly weren’t over helpful in terms of dietary requirements towards gluten. We had a good time as a group of four but the price mark is high but the food and service didn’t come up to scratch. Disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyTaste buds I didn’t know I even had! AMAZING
From the moment we entered the restaurant I knew it was going to be a great evening! The table We had had a great view of the open plan kitchen which was great to see the chefs busy perfecting each plate! The food provided me with taste buds I’ve never used before! Was simply amazing & would highly recommend this establishment…looking to book one of the other Jose Pizarro restaurants soon! Thank you for a lovely evening we will definitely be back
