Picture the scene... you get 3 rooms in the only "luxury" hotel in Tampa, FL and have a conference call scheduled with your national team. Then, you are unable to hear yourself think as jackhammering happens all around your rooms. Then, you call the front desk find out that they are building a restaurant on the floor above and will be ripping up tile for the next 5 hours. As a business traveler and a titanium member of Marriott, I expect a certain level of decorum, especially in a luxury property. To not be warned about this in advance is completely unacceptable and I've never been more disappointed in a luxury experience. The poor guy at the front desk was incredibly thoughtful and understanding - and that I appreciate. He agreed with me that we should have been warned about this planned work in advance. I would surely have requested a much lower floor or stayed at a different property for this trip.
