JW Steakhouse London Reviews from The Last Year
Good Steakhouse but...
It was one of the best dinners shared with my family. We had Seafood & Steaks along with very good selection of white & red wine. But unfortunately, the following day my son & husband were admitted to hospital for food poising.
Bourbon tasting and steaks.
We held a private bourbon tasting session with lunch ,9 of us . The steaks were superb as were the accompanying starters and puddings . We tasted three bourbons and it really is a question of personal taste but I have to say that the majority did not enjoy the bourbons! The wine though was very good, as was the service.GF no problem either.Lovely private dining room too.
Excellent family evening
We had an excellent evening in this restaurant, the setting is very cozy, the staff attentive and the food delicious. Really perfect 👍
Bourbon Gin & Cocktails
For the first time in too long we visited the JW Steakhouse The food was as ever superb the JW burger never disappoints neither does the mushroom stroganoff. Great to see some new cocktails on the drinks menu which had been created by Dorothy, my wife tried several during our stayThe bourbon barrel finished gin must get a mention as it got me back into gin after a long break, try it before it all goes. I had several Bourbons in mind to try a couple of which I did the Redemption Rye is a favourite along with the Taylor Single Barrel bottled for the JW. We met Jacob for the first time who's keenness for all things Bourbon is great to see and also to hear, he is really keen to share his knowledge I asked him to suggest a pour and he made 2 great recommendations. He will be a great asset to the bar as his knowledge expands, Sadly Robert our Bourbon advisor of many years was away, however we will hopefully see him on our next visit. The weather was kind for a few hours one afternoon and we managed a sit in the JW Garden, Claudia looked after us well and a while was spent with the papers and some handmade fresh lemonade. All of the staff looked after us well were attentive to our needs and all had time for a chat and catch up. We shall be returning soon
Wonderful American Steakhouse
The JW Steakhouse hits the sweet spot between a fine English restaurant and an American steakhouse. We had a filet and rib-eye, and both were cooked just about to perfection. The Parker House rolls were excellent as well. Bourbon aficionados will certainly appreciate the wide variety of bourbons from which to choose. Alas, my bourbon palate is rather unsophisticated, so the subtleties of one bourbon compared to another are lost on me. Bourbon drinks are made table-side at a "bourbon trolley." The cheesecake well may be the best on this side of the pond. That said, it's less tangy than a New York cheesecake. The service was impeccable and very enthusiastically friendly. I'd definitely return for another visit.
Delicious steaks
Lovely cozy steak house we tried the Fillet cooked to perfection just melted in my mouth the shirt ribs were good too, the calamari portion was huge we tried the truffle fries delicious and the grilled asparagus and wild mushrooms too which were delicious. Definitely worth a visit
Disappointing lunch
Ladies lunch out was an absolute disaster with Hair in food, undercooked chicken was offered complimentary desert for the inconvenience but the brownie was runny with a uncooked wet mixture. Was such a disappointed experience not going back again!
Great steaks
Top notch steaks and great service. Very nice atmosphere with an American feel in central London with great views of Hyde Park.
Really Good Restaurant. Would eat here even if not staying in the hotel
Great lunch. Food excellent between the 2 of us we had oysters and crab cake to start and a steak and a lobster salad. All top quality. Nice bottle of Wine. Really varied menu and good wine list. Service was outstanding both very competent but also friendly and fun Also had breakfast there. Same comments as above Not cheap but worth every penny
Excellent Sunday Lunch Roast
Excellent roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Generous portion of food with all the trimmings. There was more than enough. Service was also excellent and the surroundings were very nice as well. Truly a memorable Christmas Eve Sunday lunch.
Stayed here a few nights at this hotel and this restaurant
Stayed here a few nights at this hotel and this restaurant is one of the best hotel restaurants I have been to. We ate here two nights. The first night we ordered the seafood platter. Most amazing oysters! Never seen them so huge. The lobster is to die's for. If you're not wanting something so big ( it is for 2) the lobster Cobb is definitely a must! Our table ordered one of those as well and it was spot on. The Parker house rolls they give you after ordering are so warm and pillowy soft. It's hard to only have the one. The salty crust is perfect. The second night I ordered the salmon which was perfectly cooked and had an amazing sauce. It was accompanied with sautéed spinach which I didn't see noted on the menu so a side isn't necessary. For the table we also ordered a filet, which the server insisted he cut into it then before she left the table to be sure it was cooked the his liking. Also ordered was the chicken and a tuna tar tar. The chicken was fantastic as well as the tuna tar tar. Sides we tried were the mashed potatoes, potatoes au gratin, onion rings all which were good. Dessert, the cheesecake was fabulous and the other evening we tried the special strawberry pavlova. Both were fantastic. Cheesecake is a heavier option so I would say they were equally as good. I always love the different textures in a pavlova. The crunchy meringue and creamy vanilla whipped cream hiding a scoop of lovely strawberry ice cream and topped with fresh sweet strawberries and little bit of a strawberry syrup. A nice lighter option definitely to share especially if you opt for the cheesecake. Fantastic! Highly recommend.
Full English Breakfast - 5 Stars Filet Mignon - 5 Stars -
Full English Breakfast - 5 Stars Filet Mignon - 5 Stars - They cooked a perfect Black and Blue Sauteed Mushrooms - 4 Stars Creamed Spinach - 4 Stars Food was pretty good. The service was excellent. Wine - good selection but I knew a couple of the house reds By The Glass The mouse was funny to watch run out from under the cabinet. The manager said this is normal as they come in via the patio doors. Just glad we finished eating before we saw him. Is this standard across London to see mice in a restaurant?
