Kai Mayfair London Reviews
Meh
I'll start with the positives, such as they are. The food is okay, as in perfectly edible, for the most part quite tasty even, just not particularly interesting, and nothing you couldn't get in countless other Chinese restaurants. The servi

I had the most amazing experience at Kai Mayfair! The decor and ambiance was chic, modern and red!The wait staff and manager were top notch. My friend and I are foodies, and we asked a bunch of questions and they were very attentive and thorough in a
Immensely overrated
I was supposed to come with my wife she finally couldnโt make it. The restaurant is probably overrated because it is in Mayfair in an unbeatable location. There is more to that than being in LONDONโs prime, premium, super-luxury location. Prices
Amazing service
Wonderful service. Food is good apart from Chicken and chillie, which was bitter and too dry to moisten the plain rice. Would go again but order differently.
Great food packed with flavour , an understated restaurant feel but it really delivers amazing food - great service - for us better than park chinois
Kai Mayfair: Michelin Star or Remould by Mistake
The service was genuinely excellentโfriendly, attentive, and professional throughout. Unfortunately, thatโs where the positives end. The food was a real letdown. For a Michelin-starred restaurant, I expected bold flavours and some creativity, bu

I wasnt sure what to expect but the whole experience was a delight. The staff really care for the customers, helping us select items and making us feel so warm and special for the duration of our experience. The food was incredible - we started with
As always, a delight
As always, amazing. A wonderful welcome at the door, professional and courteous service by Boris at the table. Dinner was beautifully presented and prepared to maximize the unique flavors of Asian culinary. We are in London once per year and alway
I love how this restaurant is so vegetarian friendly.
The ma po aubergine/tofu and the spicy mushroom hotpot were amazing. We also really enjoyed the coconut/mango/lychee dessert.
Wonderful afternoon tea
The staff are friendly and helpful explaining how everything works and what was on the menu. A shout out for Isabella who is an outstanding member of staff. The food is absolutely exquisite we had afternoon tea you definitely wonโt be disappointed
Not good
We was so looking forward to a meal at this restaurant, unfortunately we ignored some of the bad reviews and went ahead with the booking anyway . Upon arrival the front of house was not exactly welcoming , the food was cold and had to be sent back
Very disappointing!!
What a disappointment we booked for lunch on Sunday 23rd February they offered us a table at 2.30. We arrived got taken to our table ordered a drink each and ordered our food at 2.45. The waiter came back over to advise us all our food would come to
Great
Everything we had was absolutely amazing. Not traditional Chinese food, more like an interpretation of British food but the flavours are wonderful and some real skill in the execution. Service excellent and we had a truly memorable experience

As someone who's very fussy about food and an expert in judging if the food is authentic in the authentic Chinese way, this place is really good. I will definitely go back and invite all my friends to try themselves. Probably the best Chinese fo
Crispy duck is incredibly dry.
Servers were rude and service felt rushed. Nowhere near worth the money.
Well worth a visit
What a treat! Our first proper chinese fine dining experience and it did not disappoint. The presentation of the food is superb with the vegetarian scallop started being a work of art! The deconstructed bao buns were delicious, sezuan tofu main perfe
The best Michelin Chinese restaurant iโve ever visited!
I have to give this place a 5/5! After visiting Kai Songbird at the Corinthia Yacht Club in Qatar we had to try out Kai Mayfair. We were two at the table and Teresa was our most exceptional host. We had Prawns on Toast, Wasabi prawns (divine!!!), l

The Aromatic Crispy Duck was very dry, a poor choice, especially as the lamb we observed on the adjacent table which was occupied by a famous US tennis professional looked scrumptious. At this level, one would expect every choice to be spectacular.
Michelin star?
A perfectly reasonable Chinese restaurant, but you'd be disappointed if you were expecting Michelin star quality food, presentation or service. I would recommend you go there, have a portion of the Wasabi prawns then go elsewhere.
It Doesnโt Get Any Better
My wife and I were not expecting this level of cuisine even though Kai had earned a Michelin Star! It was, in a word, extraordinary! We might have caught them on an exceptional day, but I donโt think so. Attention to detail at this level is not an
Amazing!
Such a delightful evening at Kai. Superb appetizers beef, shrimps, squidโฆ to die for Peking Duck (a must try). Excellent service from Teresa, Enrique and Wynn. A true chinese culinary address to experience while in London. We will go again, and aga
Unique afternoon tea
Went for the afternoon tea which was delightful - but a little underwhelming for a Michelin star restaurant. I could sing praises about the presentation of the meal; the tableware is gorgeous and the food is attractive and plated beautifully. Howe
Poor, poor and then very poor!!!
We returned to Kai for the 8th time. Previously, we - and various guests - we entertained at Kai had loved the food and ambience of the restaurant. This visit however, was very very poor!! A Michelin star??? We would have to say - How did they get t
Easily one of my favorite restaurants in London.
Conveniently located in Mayfair. This spacious and moody restaurant does evoke the spirit of big Asian cities like Tokyo and Hong Kong. We came with vegans and vegetarians and service was so helpful in having us make an informed decision. We got wa
My favourite โค๏ธ!!
Fabulous restaurant with outstanding service, my favourite in London. Recommend wasabi prawns, aromatic duck, sea bass almost everything as Iโve tried everything . Itโs worth a visit
Honestly disappointed.
The service was a bit weird here. Outwardly friendly but not that helpful. What I remembered of the food - the wasabi prawn was good but it's not that unique. It tastes like wasabi honey mustard on a shrimp tempura. And the pandan creme brulee had lit
My recent experience was not the first at this beautiful
My recent experience was not the first at this beautiful restaurant. I took my daughter to the afternoon tea. We arrived slightly early but we accommodated straight away as the table was already set. As I have a mobility issue, the hostess, very kind
Top Notch!
I've been here twice, the food is fantastic and their sweet & sour pork is totally next level. It's a really beautiful restaurant and they are generous with their spacing and don't seat you on top of each other. Not cheap, but you get what you pa
Not worth while
Not sure how this restaurant achieved a Michelin *, ambience ok, nice enough surroundings. Starters again ok! Super small and hot & sour soup ยฃ29, 3 spoons, and finished. Middle course qtr duck , absolutely nothing remarkable in fact really dry,
Absolutely fantastic food with brilliant service
The late Michael Winner, apparently visited this restaurant around 13 years ago and wrote a poor review. He must have got out of bed on the wrong side that day or perhaps he was very unlucky. Everything about this restaurant is 100% terrific. Every
Disappointing
I have been coming here for more than 35 years, but this particular visit went off to a bad start: I wanted to book a table for 4 at 7.30 pm and was told that none was available at that time, but only at 6.30, which is a bit early for us. But we acce
Staff have no clue about allergens-why do they have a Michelin?
Do you have gf soya sauce? - "Yes and no- we have both sometimes gf sometimes it has gluten. The supplier gives us both"?!!! So can you cater to someone with a gluten allergy? "depends how bad is your allergy. Some gluten free allergy
1st Disappointment In My Favourite Restaurant
Been Going To This Restaurant For Over 3 Decades . Dinned Here Over 200 Times. Yesterday Was The 1st Time I Saw Standards Drop The Industry Is Going Through An Awful Time But No Excuse For Having Uninformed& Untrained Staff On The Floor So Man
Very nice indeed
We visited with my daughter for her birthday, to be clear it was not inexpensive. However the food was delightful, as with many London restaurants they do dick two ways which is fantastic, the belly port was divine and Lobster Lobster was just perfec
As usual amazing!
This is our favourite restaurant in London and we visit every time we are in London! Amazing! The Tiramisu Martini is to die for! And they have a great variety of Vegetarian dishes! Crown of Jewels is delicious!! Superb service!
Disappointing
A little bit disappointing, and not what I would have expected from a Michelin starred restaurant. The service was fine, except that they got one of our orders wrong (wasabi prawns rather than the vegetarian wasabi chai - perhaps this could be clarif
