Wow, a Michelin starred place where you could get away with an appetizer, entree and drink for under $100! First, make a reservation! This spot is on OpenTable and it is pretty small. I was not planning on visiting this spot, mostly because it was in Little Venice and outside most of my places in London, but somehow I lucked out and got a table downstairs. Second, the food here is delicious. It's truly some of the best Persian food I've ever had. I would recommend ordering family style, just so you get the full experience. Third, the service is so wonderful and attentive. My server checked on me often and had really wonderful recommendations.

Be the first to ReplyWANNA BE FRENCH IRANIAN RESTAURANT with DELICIOUS food.
Cannot wait to go back.Wonderful neighborhood.Paolo provided great service. Many thanks. All dishes were delicious and tried to be presented beautifully but at the end of the day, i prefer the organic presentation of most iranian dishes.Tables felt a bit small and crowded for the size of dishes. My shishlik and chicken kebab with bone were delicious. My guest's fesenjoon lovely. I did not die for the appetizers but still liked them fine.Ice cream was good. Rolette was totally fresh, so much so i had two portions of it....Many thanks.Mehran (of Chicago)

Located in a small alley near a somewhat dingy pub, Kateh serves wonderful Persian food! ย Definitely authentic with an attentive wait staff. Lovely interiors, pretty chandeliers and comfortable noise level. We don't live in London but we would surely be regulars, like so many of the other diners seem to be.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a horrendous experience.
If I could, I'd give the entire experience a -5. The manager was extremely rude. Where else have you seen someone in charge use profanity towards a customer? He called us "assholes", literally!! It shows his true tacky character. I will make sure everyone in our circle knows what kind of place this is.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, very tasty.
ย Quality ingredients are used, all organic freshly sourced from local farms. ย Very friendly staff.

I've been to 300 restaurants in London and never met a RUDER "manager" in my whole life (world wide). I was really tempted to leave the restaurant, but i was respecting my guests. I encountered three different situations in this ugly restaurant. I walked in with a reservation, exactly on time (by the minute, and the manager repeated " YOUR TABLE IS NOT READY" with the most disrespectful tone, three times. I stayed quiet and held in my anger, until i opened a video on my phone for 0.5 seconds (downstairs lol). The manager happened to pass in these 0.5 seconds and told me lower the volume. Can you imagine? I swear that i couldn't hear the video i was playing. I couldn't believe my ears cause NO MANAGER OR WAITER would ever say such a thing. SO RUDE. SO SO RUDE. I wish the food was worth it. Michelin star for what??????????? Alounak and Colbeh can't compare to this overrated overpriced Iranian restaurant. I swear i will never go back until this man is fired. I will make sure to tell all my connections to NEVER go back. I hope the owner is reading this message.
Be the first to ReplyQuaint atmosphere, delicious, tasty and fresh food.
Staff was friendly and helpful when ordering. Will definitely go back!

So, Kateh was actually recommended to me by an ex back when I studied in London. Without getting too much into my deplorable dating history, let's just say that it was the only good thing I got out of the relationship.Kateh is probably around a 4-4.5* for the food, but an easy +1 for service, which I've found is genuinely friendly. I've only been here a handful of times (ok, more like two handfuls by now) but I already feel like family every time I go back in.And well, the food is no slouch either. From the soul-warming asheh resteh lentil and spinach soup, delightful zoobah (admittedly the first time I've ever had lamb tongue), the murgh torsh (chicken with pomegranate and walnuts), or hearty ghormeh sabzi stew (veal osso buco style - Kateh has achieved near perfection with this), I've honestly not had a dish here I disliked. Their salads are great too, and I'm also a fan of their chargrilled octopus appetizer. I'm not as big on their non-chicken/non-octopus grill dishes, but they're not bad, either.Don't forget to save room for dessert (although it can be difficult!). This is the first place I had makhloot - basically faloodeh (thin vermicelli-like noodles in sweet syrup) topped with bastani (saffron ice cream) - I'd only had them separately before. Their fresh-baked walnut and date cookie dessert, which comes with cinnamon ice cream, is really nice too. This place can be pretty crowded at peak times, so to avoid queues either make a reservation or go very early/late.It should reveal how much I love food that sometimes I think the Kateh recommendation made my ex worth it. (Still crazy talk.) Of course, I should have just found this place via Yelp and saved myself a lot of drama.
Be the first to ReplyNot bad.
Ate dinner here in a group of c. eight people. The meal was perhaps a little expensive, though. The food was good and all, but not high cuisine, and the portions weren't extravagant. The service was friendly and I found our server a rather funny guy. Pleasant ambiance. As I said, the food was fine, but I think there are better value-for-money options out there so I'm in no rush to return.

Small, intimate space, delicious starters (Aubergine, squid, cucumber salad w pomegranate), unique dessert (20 min cookie and homemade cinnamon ice cream), great wine list. Have yet to try the stews and mains. Reserve in advance, always booked and with good reason. We are so lucky to have this in our neighborhood.
Be the first to ReplyKateh is barely 10 tables, so the setting is very intimate.
The staff are excellent and service was impeccable. The food is good. The only reason I did not give it a 5 on food, was because I have eaten better Persian food. Its tucked away near Little Venice, so few people know about it, but given the size, it is advisable to Book a Table before visiting. There are loads of Vegetarian options among the starters. But only one vegetarian maincourse. Murgh Parid - A stew with root vegetables and apricots - It was very tasty though.I'd heavily recommend the Koofteh Berenji - beef meatballs among the starters and the Adas Pollo - A Persian style biryani among the mains. The Zaytoon Parvadeh was a very unusual starter with olives, that I have never tried before and was a big hit at our table. They have a good collection of single malts and wines, but don't expect cocktails and ciders.Starter portions are small, compared to other Persian restaurants in London, but Mains are of a good size.Kateh is slightly more expensive than normal, but the service and ambiance are worth it.
