My first time at Knife Pleat, the afternoon tea service is divine and the cocktails were delicious. The service Demetrio provided was impeccably warm and attentive. When I go back I'll be requesting a table in his section.

My husband took me here to celebrate our anniversary and had SUCH an amazing meal. We went to Addison (3 Michelin star) the month prior and I really couldn't tell what differentiated a 3 star vs. a 1 star as the food, service and ambiance were neck and neck in my book. Definitely a special occasion place and be sure to indulge in the supplements! Thank you for a memorable dining experience!

The food is terrific, our server was great, and very attentive and nice despite how busy she seemed. Definitely recommend, and will be going back again. The pricing was a little steep however.

The entire experience was great fun! Half of our party requested gluten free and dairy free and they accommodated us no problem. The service was amazing and the food was beautifully presented and tasty. The non-alcoholic drink pairing (they have an alcoholic one as well) was a surprise to us as each drink was unique and really delicious. This is now our favorite restaurant! We will return again very soon!!

Tucked on the upper floor of West Coast Plaza is this high end restaurant. The inside dining room is vibrant and can be loud, there is also a quiet outside seating area but it doesn't give the full experience in my mind. We opted for the six course chef menu (there is also a four course option and wine pairing). Overall I was disappointed given this is a Michelin starred restaurant, it does not compare to other 1 star restaurants I have tried although our sommelier was very knowledgeable and service was carefully timed. The food choices were at times too heavy or overly complicated. Not what I expected.

Seriously I LOVE, and , LOVE dining here. Lunch and dinner. The Staff is an exceptional and very hardworking, this is when you see passion and dedication. It puts me in a happy mood, every time I am dinning here. Please do not forget French High Tea Experience on Saturdays. It is lovely, I forgot the Caviar is delicious too...

One of the few michelin star restaurants near Anaheim to try out. The service was impeccable and everyone at the restaurant was friendly and attentive to your every need. As you get seated, they bring out a bar on wheels and offer a choice of champagne or other beverages. Immediately, the amuse bouche was served which contained potato, leek, and brioche. This had a slight salty and savory airy flavor to it. Very delicious. Next, I chose the crudo Shima aji, which is very close to a ceviche style dish with acidity and offset of the coconut. For the main course, I chose the farm crescent duck. The meat was very tender, but not as flavorful as other michelin French restaurants I had in New York and almond pain perdu didn't go so well with the dish. I added the black truffle brie, which is very strong and can get very salty unless you're pairing with wines. As for dessert, I had the rhubarb elderflower panna cotta, which was beautiful in presentation, but didn't exceed taste expectations. Very tart and creamy. The Mignardises after the panna cotta was really sweet, but I enjoyed the black sesame macaron that had a more earthy taste. Overall, service was amazing and food was pretty good 4.5/5.

Service amazing the food left me wanting more flavor and texture. Will give them another shot. Maybe dinner is better.

This is a Michelin ? Wow what happened . Dined here last night . Had the prix fix 4 course . I had called earlier about vegetarian options which the waiter offered veggies and soup .The food is mediocre at best , don't waste your time . I was given a regular silver spoon to eat my caviar and ridiculed when I asked for an caviar spoon. The host had not read her notes and had no clue as to why I was there, or what I was celebrating, which were all there when booked. I am just a nurse whom saved a long time to visit here , what a disappointment.

Went here just before they were awarded their Star and I completely agree. They use their small real estate well. Everything one would expect from an award winning restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyYummy food and great wine.
Service went above and beyond. I spoke to over 2 dozen Michelin star restaurants for Valentine's Day menu and accommodating a gluten free diet... Knife Pleat was the first and only ones willing to adjust their tasting menu. Other places acted like they didn't know what gluten free is and/or became rude, shit like that.

The minimum course price is $150/person, plus 23% service fee, plus tax. So you're basically looking at to spend $200/person minimum. Pro first: a nice environment and good service. Con: The taste is considered "less and average" in each dish, the flavor is the same as I would get in a supermarket and the desert is not as good as I would get in a supermarket, say Whole Foods. The portion are so tiny and you maybe left hungry. There is no bread before the meal. Ok I can eat so much better at a place cost $50/person. The taste of every food is just plain and dull. You can tell they didn't spent much time preparing and cooking each dish. It's just not impressive us in the way we expect it. Pretty disappointed for the only Michelin restaurant in OC.
Be the first to ReplyDiscovered this place while window shopping at South Coast.
The beat salad is so fresh and clean in way that makes a person feel healthier just eating it, but a little too much quinoa in it for me. The forest mushroom which has chanterelles and hen of the woods in it was so delicious. And the golden osetra caviar was nicely presented and has a light buttery taste. Overall, good ambience and very attentive service.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service, very attentive and personable servers.
Good cocktails. Swanky decor and ambiance. Really good food. A bit on the pricey side, but expected due to the 1 Michelin star. The dessert soufflรฉ was out of this world! I would kill to have it again!!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat place and wonderful service.
The food was as good as you'd expect, and their wine and cocktails were solid as well.I loved the interior and I would come back for another special occasion if I'm in town.

This place is like speakeasy place inside of South Coast plaza. Very intimate setting with open kitchen concept. We went there for our anniversary dinner prefix dinner.Service was superb just like what you can expect from Michelin Star restaurant. My favorite was Consommรฉ with puff pastry! Pear sorbet was refreshing! I can eat it everyday :)The reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars is I had better tasting French course dinner before and it is not that convenient since we had to park at mall parking structure (no valet) then walked thru entire department store to get to this place. Additionally, they can improve inside ambiance more! Should we go back?? Hmmm....perhaps if someone invites us otherwise, maybe nahhhh.

stick with what the staff recommends!! everything that our waiter recommended was amazing, everything else was eh. also good to note that their dinner selection is much better and food tastes better? their lunch menu was much cheaper and pre fix seemed like a great idea, but dishes were hit or miss. its a great place for a lunch meeting or mid day shopping break, but would not come here again just for the food at lunch time (definitely better for dinner) the bread was great and very fresh. endive salad was delicious esp with the touches of citrus. the califlower soup was WAY too salty, almost inedible without bread. sea bream was good, but had a little fishy after taste and the entire dish had an off putting fishy taste and smell. the salmon was amazing and MUCH better than the sea bream. we are usually not huge fans of panna cotta, but this was done very well!! their desserts never disappoint! chocolates at the end are also always a delight.

We've been to this restaurant a couple of times now, once when they first opened for the dinner course menu and most recently for lunch. This review is for lunch since it's the most recent time we've been there.First off, the ambience in the restaurant is top notch. It is on the top level of the south coast plaza mall and the decor is stylish and posh. The service is also supreme. The service itself represents a Michelin star level type of trained staff who are all super attentive and also have multiple people serving one table. We ordered a la carte, but some people at our table ordered the $49 prix fixe menu. Everyone was happy with their meal. I ordered the butter lettuce salad and the salmon. The salad was overall delicious and fresh, but could have had a few more ingredients to it to make it more robust. The salmon was amazing! Perfectly cooked and juicy. It was also high quality salmon as well. My husband got the cauliflower soup which was one of the best if not the best cauliflower soup he's had. He also ordered the forest mushroom dish which was savory and delectable. The others who ordered the prix fixe got the chicory salad and the sea bream and the Louis XV dessert. We shared the dessert and it was marvelous! They topped off the lunch with cute Michelin star shaped cookies. The restaurant surely is deserving of the 1 Michelin star and improved since we first went. We truly enjoyed our meal and would definitely return again.

Food was slow coming out, make reservations somewhere to eat after as you will leave hungry. We didn't realize a 23% gratuity is automatically added onto the check. Our waiter ended up with $100 tip good for him! It will be the last money he earns from this family. Some thing that staff should announce when they bring the check.

To my surprise, this restaurant in a "mall" is so good! But then again, this is not an average mall either and it deserves to be among the luxury stores. Price is reasonable considering the food and service quality. I had the scallop and it was so good. Thick and rich scallops with just perfect amount of seasoning. The dining room is not big and not decorated like its luxury store neighbors but the service more than makes up the lack of extravagant decos.
Be the first to ReplyNot too special.
It's good but definitely not worth the price. They also include a 22 percent gratuity which seems very high. portions are really small -- typical for Michelin star restaurant but there are also fewer plates

One of the few Michelin star restaurants in the OC, located inside South Coast Plaza on the third floor right outside Nordstrom.Reservations are via Tock. Fair warning - not sure if it's just for parties of 5 or more or something, but they charged me full price per person excluding tax and tip when I reserved it a month in advance. So be prepared.Parking is plentiful since it is at the South Coast Plaza. Service was very warm and personable. The wait staff were very polite and answered all of our questions about the dishes.Meal comments:- Soup and Kanpachi starters were amazing. I especially like the soup as it was super creamy and delicious.- Loved the scallop and the fish dish that was off menu. No char or anything on the fish, but it was very moist and not dry at all.- Mont Blanc dessert was not too sweet and quite light actually. The rest of my party ordered the souffle which was quite sweet (I took a bite), so I was pretty pleased with myself for picking the Mont Blanc.Overall a decent Michelin 1* for the OC, especially for the price point $135/pp as of Dec 2022.
Be the first to ReplyThis place doesn't deserve its one Michelin star.
Not sure how or why it has it?For a restaurant at a Michelin caliber, you'd think they'd offer top-notch service, or be top-notch all around. Well, they're not at all! Don't waste your time or money here, feels like their staff has never even been inside of a Michelin-rated restaurant let alone have to run one. They just fall back on their trendy decor and the fact that they have a prime location at SCP. Here's my experience there:1. Afternoon Tea - I'd rate it a 3/10 at BEST! You pay $95 for 4 sandwiches and ย 6 SMALL pastries - They don't use a tea service or any sort. Their teacups are small and look like they stole them from a French cafe or bought at Home Goods and have some sort of cheap branding name on them. Don't get me started on their teapots. (if you can even call it that) they are so small that the waiter had to keep coming to refill with hot water which led to constant conversation interruptions and hot water spilling on the table. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if you pride yourself in afternoon tea, then a proper and nice tea set is the bare minimum! The pastries and sandwiches were standard and not bad. I'll give them that. 2. They don't offer a private room dining. Again, a Michelin-rated restaurant... many executives or high-profile individuals will naturally want to dine there and may not want to sit with the rest of the public. Shocking they don't offer this!3. Dinner - 4/10 - The 4 is only for the presentation which was good. Food was comparable to Capital Grill and I would by no means say the taste and experience were again a MICHELIN one. Most Michelin restaurants tell a story with their meals or stay consistent with a theme. We ordered the black truffle brie which was a small thin slice of the brie with 8 slices of bread. We ran out of brie after 3 slices...The mushroom risotto was watery and the lobster salad seemed the lobster was frozen. The caramel dessert was terribly sweet and was highly recommended by our waiter, not sure why.4. I tried to host a private event in their patio and their events coordinator Stephanie and restaurant manager Claude totally dropped the ball. I had to leave messages and constantly follow up just to book the place. I ended up going with a different venue and will never step foot in this restaurant again. If you're looking for a Michelin experience or high-end service and food, this is not the place. You can't throw inexperienced staff and chefs and expect them to know what a Michelin-rated establishment offers. Truly a shame.

I'm so excited to dine here, because my vain self is collecting Michelin stars. So yes, 1 Michelin star in my "collection", check! I am from out of town visiting friends, and they took me here for a treat! The service was great, the ambiance awesome, the food also great... why 2 stars? First, I am so heart broken to do this review, but I ordered the duck, and it may have gotten me sick. ย I became sure of it when my friend, who also ordered the duck, became sick at the same time as me. There were 3 of us that dined, and the one that did not get sick did not touch the duck at all. ย It was great going in, but not so great coming out.
