Kudu Grill London Reviews from The Last Year
Rip-off prices, mediocre cuisine
Rip-off prices, mediocre cuisine. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived for lunch. The carrots were rock hard more than al dente. The prawns smelt on the turn. My husband ordered the beef at £38 - our bad as we hadn't spotted the two-person minimum so we had a £76 surprise on our bill for his dish. For £135 for two people (without any alcoholic drinks or desserts) for lunch, we won't be coming back.
I went to Kudu with a group of friends for my birthday.
The service and food are incredible. We were fully taken care of and catered to by the staff. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and warm. The table size and seating were great for four people. The food was absolutely delightful. The flavors were lovely, portions were good. We left full and happy!
Okay….
It’s okay…lovely venue - very intimate. Amazing service. Food was very nice but also very expensive. Didn’t notice anything particularly ‘south African’ - sirloin steak, sea bream, monkfish etc. pretty standard tasty good but no ‘South African’ nor wow factor so if this is what youre looking for then you will be disappointed. Solid choice for an average above average dinner with friends or a date id say.
Amazing grill and desserts!!
The food was spectacular from start to finish. Highlights were definitely the Harissa Beef Tartare and the Dry Aged Prime Rib (it was cooked to perfection with an amazing crust). The wait staff explained that a special wood is added to the grill for a smoky flavour distinct to South Africa. The flavour combinations were in point (the Monkfish and pork chop were so so tender, although slightly on the saltier side). DO NOT PASS ON TBE DESSERTS! Both the Melkert Choux Bun and the Burnt Cream Ganache were showstoppers (we ordered another of the Chouc Bun - it was that good)!
First wedding breakfast
We were lucky to attend their first wedding breakfast, wow the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and attentive we will definitely be returning on our next visit to London
Great food, lovely staff.
Second time visiting. In January 2023, four of us had a weekend dinner. None of us had heard of this place but we left loving it. This time, two of us had a weekday lunch. Not local to either of us but it shows how much we enjoyed it the first time around that we made the trek from our respective areas. The food is wonderful and the service lovely. In fact, shout out to the lovely lady working on 7 July who said she used to be a pro basketball player. I suddenly realised it was nearly closing time (2.30) and said to my friend we should wolf our desserts down. She said not to rush and take our time and was lovely to chat to as well. Another reviewer described this as a neighbourhood restaurant but it's so good I think it's a destination restaurant too. Planning a third visit soon.
Delicious from start to finish
I went to this restaurant without knowing anything about it as part of a birthday dinner surprise for a friend of ours. This pub-looking restaurant doesn't reveal much, but once you enter the place, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the cozy yet chic atmosphere that awaits you inside. The menu is meant to be shared, and we were lucky enough to be a small group and able to try almost their entire menu. Most of the dishes were brilliant, with the exception of a few that were standard, but overall, it was a fantastic experience. The service could be a notch better to make everyone's visit a delight. Thanks, team!
Amazing food
Friendly welcome as we entered the restaurant. Really nice vibe without being too loud, nice decor and clean toilet. Very impressed with the food, between 3 of us we had 2 snacks and 1 starter. We had a main each and 2 sides to share. Plenty of food and all super tasty. We had a couple of servers, one was very knowledgeable and explained the cocktails and menu in detail. Another we presume was newer to the restaurant and felt a bit more awkward. My only criticism would be that they wouldn’t ‘release’ the starter with the snacks as requested until we ordered mains. We felt that this was as an odd rule and felt it was very money focused. We were there for dinner so mains were a given for us. It was a more expensive meal but we felt that it was worth it as a treat and the food was amazing. Overall we would recommend.
Great Sunday lunch
Lovely staff and hearty food. We went for a Father's Day lunch. Not surprisingly packed. Yet we were neither rushed nor left waiting for our food. A limited but wide range of choices for starters and mains made decision making easy, and all was very tasty. I'm glad we chose some of the side dishes, not because we were short on food, but because they really added additional tastes and textures.
