Great service. I enjoyed everything about the place. I think the location is perfect and everything about is good.

Be the first to ReplyDisappointed and embarrassing
Expectations were set high after visiting La Petite Colombe in 2022. Unfortunately, expectations were not met and actually was left disappointed. As big foodies, we had talked so highly of this place to the rest of the booking (family and friends) but felt embarrassed by the service and food. The food was ok. But for the price you don’t want just ‘ok’. You want something memorable, like our meals at La Petite. Several of the guests were unwell that night too and continued for the duration of the holiday. The ambience was poor, the lights were too bright, the chairs are uncomfortable and it was frightfully cold! One waiter was rude when our son tried to help by stacking the plates for them. Overall the whole experience was disappointing and would not be recommending.

What a wonderful lunch. So creative. We were lucky to capitalise on a late cancellation and took full advantage of such an advantage. I cannot stress how beautifully presented the food is, and served with pride and modesty. It’s a big menu, yes, we had the tasting one, but the portion size is perfectly judged, so you don’t roll out feeling very slightly regretful. Expensive, indeed, but you can see where the money goes. Sublime.

One of our best meals ever. The Reduced menu for lunch was perfect.. many delicious flavours and the staff made us feel most welcome.
Be the first to ReplyRemarkable
We visited this restaurant with high expectations and were disappointed. The ambience alone does not meet the requirements of such a high-priced restaurant. We were also unlucky enough to be sitting next to a group that was very loud, even for South Africans. The obligatory bird's nest is quite nice, the first starter was good. But then the show becomes the main thing, the food, well, so-so. The extra charge of €30 for a few grams of Wagyu beef is remarkable. The wine was good. Perhaps we didn't understand the concept either. Although we found the same chef remarkably good a few years ago in another top restaurant.

Be the first to ReplyA restaurant with decades of experience yet a bit lacking the last touch
La Colombe is a legend. Being part of the Cape Town fine dining for decades. However, we missed the personal touch, the meeting between waiter and guest. The feeling of being engaged with the restaurant, the staff and was lacking. Felt we were rushed. Food interesting but didn’t reached the roof. We have been there for lunch which was an amazing experience and so personal.

Be the first to ReplyVery special meal
La Colombe was recommended to us by several friends in the UK - all said it was a Must visit place. It really was unlike anywhere we have been before. We had 8 courses all containing different foods and exotically displayed - explained to us by the staff. Everything was really tasty and beautifully cooked. I’m a bit of a foodie so everything I eat has to be really enjoyed - my favourite was the quail meat. One thing we felt was missing was chocolate at the end of the meal - the petit fours didn’t have a great taste. La Colombe — throw in a chocolate truffle! Overall a great meal and a really special treat. This kind of restaurant in the UK would cost 4 times the price.

Absolutely stunning, certainly one of the best restaurants in the southern part of South Africa, the only thing missing was the “Michelin or Gault Millau” Star. This restaurant is something very special “Out of this World”, last year we had dinner at the PIER Restaurant at the waterfront in Cape Town and that was already extraordinary. Same owner ship, so let us try something different for this year. We are always interested in something special and our entire travel-vacation is running at our slogan / motto, enjoy life with great “Wine and Dine”. So what should we expect today, from the minute we arrived getting into the restaurant, we entered a different world – “day dreaming”. The lunch menu is something, you are being served an eight (8) course “set menu”. Every dish is served with great dedication, very nice and friendly waitresses / waiters, extremely professional, they are so enthusiastic, living their job and they truly know how to treat people to make their day. Every course was a poem in itself, starting with the right cutlery and the right plates; the little details make a big difference. And then the individual starters and appetizers, every dish between the courses was celebrated in its own way. You couldn’t get your eyes of the plate, should I really eat the piece of art? Each individual course, was an explosion of different tastes, flavors and aromas, what an exquisite restaurant. What did Arnold Schwarzenegger say I´ll be back !!

Fabulous lunch once again . Made even better because of our waiter Terrance who was charming and such good fun . This was our fourth visit but first for our daughter who enjoyed every minute .

I have been going to La Colombe for many years, firstly of course when it was located at Aitsig. It was always a special event, with delectable food and wine, but it has developed and progressed into the sensational World renown restaurant that it is today. Not by chance of course but by the incredible mouthwatering, absolutely sensation food that it prepares and serves with such wonderful theatre thrown in as standard. Seamless service, wonderful environment, and food to die for!

We’ve been to LaColombe several times but unfortunately over the years they have cut down. This time the theatre wasn’t there and they have done away with the honey pot at the end which we loved . I’m sure they don’t give a dam what we think as locals but the winter might be a different story

This must be the highlight of everyone’s trip The service is just outstanding and the food is on a different level!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Food Experience
We had the reduced lunch menu and you could not fault the food - one of the best meals that I have had and presented in a very unique way. The service was also first class and we had great fun with the wine flight trying to identify one of the wines that arrived in a black glass - great fun. Whilst the view from the restaurant of the mountains was great, my only negative comment is that they could improve the outlook by tiding up the flower boxes which all they seem to contain was dead plants.
Be the first to ReplySensation Overload but Quite the Show and Experience
La Colombe was certainly a great experience and quite the show. First - plan to spend up to 4 hours there if you eat lunch. We had planned a wine tasting for 2 hours after the lunch reservation time and ended up being 150 minutes late, which was no big deal. Come hungry, we were served 10 different spectacular dishes. Each was very artistic with a special touch from the chef. The flavors were delicious, occasionally overwhelming to the senses. We did the wine pairings as well which ends up being a very significant amount of wine. It was a great experience but we ended up having to nap afterwards and miss dinner to recover.

This is fine dinning at its best. Yet another tasting menu on our tour of eateries in South Africa which seems to be all the rage but this one was special. The buzz in the room with anticipating guests waiting patiently for three hours of beautiful food and wine were not disappointed. Course after course looked pretty on the plate and each one delicious. The various crockery and props created a feast for the eyes and the staff were slick and businesslike as they correctly remembered the various multitude of components to each dish. It’s a long expensive night but as a treat well worth it.
Be the first to ReplyAs Good as Ever
I was wondering if La Colombe could maintain its lofty standards after the Covid epidemic. However, after a recent spectacular Valentine’s Day meal there, it is apparent that the restaurant is better than ever. The food is exquisite, and the service is impeccable. The wine program is exceptional. La Colombe’s sommelier is one of the best I’ve encountered. He wears his encyclopedic knowledge lightly and makes wine fun – as it should be. All of this is not cheap, but it is worth every Rand/Euro/Dollar!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing. Lunch is the show!
I have been here with my husband on our own and with my family. It was amazing both times. Best to go at lunch so you can take advantage of the scenery. Meals are absolutely to die for - presentation is spectacular and the taste divine. As a vegetarian I was skeptical, but the menu did not disappoint. Different ingredients, textures and flavors as well as experiences. Definitely visit for a special occasion. My favorite drink was the rooibos infused gin. Superb
