La Trompette London Reviews from The Last Year
Magnificent!
A wonderful meal. On arrival our coats were taken from us and our table adjusted to cater for the fact that one of our group was unable to attend at the last minute. We were shown to the table and we did take a long time making our choices of food and wine; at no point did we feel rushed. The service throughout the meal was excellent, with staff giving opinions on the dishes when asked. The food itself was unbeatable and couldn't be faulted in any way. As for the apricot souffle, this was definitely the best soufflé I have ever eaten. It was as light as a feather and tasted marvellous.
Memorable evening, La Trompette is recommended!
Took my daughter on a trip to London, and chose La Trompette on recommendation. We were received very well. Delicate interior and an appropriately rich menu and wine list as well as pleasant assistance from competent waiters who guided us through each of our three courses gave us a memorable evening. My daughter chose vegetarian throughout, while I went for a lovely tartar and "Suffolk pork presa" with a particularly tasty sauce/sjy. Unforgettable! Highly recommended when visiting London!
Fabulous, yet again...
Another visit to La Trompette and another near faultless dinner. Things that I really liked: - I had three courses and felt it was just the right amount of food - My starter (salmon) was truly amazing; my main course (pork) was extremely tasty - My pudding (the chocolate delice) was very nice, just not quite as good as the other two courses - There were lots of things I could have had from the menu - I needed to ask what certain things are (for example, the particular cut of pork that they used), which shows that the menu is not the same samey Modern British cooking that you get at lots of restaurants - I did not wake up this morning with that dry mouth feeling that shows the chef has used too much salt (a real bonus) - The wine list is very eclectic (there are wines from pretty much everywhere, including Canada - who knew?) Things that I didn't like: [ ] (That about sums it up.)
A perfect restaurant
We have been going to la Trompette for more than 15 years and it has never failed to please. Yesterday we had an outstanding meal. The service, as always, was welcoming and attentive but not over the top. The timing was just right - no overlong pauses, but a leisurely pace. Starters - a delicious tuna carpaccio, a melt in the mouth foie gras and chicken liver parfait with feather light brioche. Followed by succulent, tender venison accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables for me and a wonderful daube of beef for my husband. I’m not usually a fan of desserts, but the banana soufflé paired with the strongly flavoured passion fruit ice cream was perfection as was my husband’s Christmas pudding with cinnamon ripple ice cream. A fantastic meal.
Awful, discriminatory
This was a really bad experience I am local to the area and have been before, I booked ahead for lunch with a friend We are both elderly women She was unfortunately late but after she arrived we were virtually ignored People who came in later on the off chance were seated and served first When I questioned this the manager arrived at our table and was demeaning and ageist We left after this as he had made me feel discriminated against as a single older woman This is sad as I will never use this restaurant again and have used it many times inthe past
Lunch whilst visiting my Son in Chiswick
Sunday lunch 25 September. Absolutely fabulous in every way. All dishes amazing along with the service and atmosphere.
A lovely lunch, with great service
Visited La Trompette as part of a no-corkage BYO wine deal from my wine merchant. Took the allowed bottle each - one champagne and one red Bordeaux - and settled in for lunch. We started with a Bloody Mary and a couple of oysters; Dorset rock oysters with tamarillo hot sauce, celery and lime, which were absolutely delicious. We both opted for the starter of Foie gras and chicken liver parfait, Muscat jelly, toasted pistachios and brioche, which was light and creamy, with a generous slice of brioche. The pistachios added texture and the muscat jelly a decadent sweetness. The champagne was an excellent accompaniment. For mains, my wife had Suffolk pork rib eye with pumpkin puree, fondant potato, trompettes, capers, sage and crackling, and I had the Veal rump and glazed cheek with creamed polenta, roasted tomato and gremolata. Two clean plates were delivered back to the kitchen! A lovely combination of flavours and textures. We then opted to share a cheese plate to accompany the last of the red wine, and the cheese choices were excellent. My dessert was malt custard with toasted almond ice cream and cocoa nib bricelet, and it was sublime - a glass of Sauternes was it's natural bedfellow! I greatly enjoyed chatting to Donald, the very engaging and knowledgeable sommelier, and all the waiting staff were efficient, and very pleasant. All in all, a very satisfying and delicious lunch, and a great find. We will certainly return!
Elegance and class
A team of true professionals! We enjoyed the food and the selection of wines proposed by the talented and very well prepared sommelier!
Should be on everyone’s wish list
Fantastic evening - friendly staff and great choice on the three course menu; I chose the Pork Chop which was great. The cured Seabass was fresh and the goosebury soufflé was the best we have tasted. Should be on everyone’s to do list.
Perfect
We simply cannot fault the whole dining experience. We were here for our anniversary meal and from the moment we walked through the door to when we left the entire experience was perfect. The meal was delicious, the wines lovely and the service impeccable. I love my cheese too and they have a cheese trolley ! So rarely see that anymore... Couldn't recommend enough
