Brilliant HH
This is an old favourite for us whenever we return to Dallas. Such a great location to meet up with friends. Which is what we did around Thanksgiving in the bar for HH. What an excellent HH we enjoyed for a couple of hours. The snacks were delicious like bacon dates, escargot, pork belly and nachos. All quite superb for sharing. We all enjoyed cocktails with good name brands, followed by decent HH wines. Well done just what we were looking for Maxwell a superb server

There were too few highlights. The Christmas carolers were a nice touch and the attraction for attending. Unfortunately the star of the show, the prime rib, was a disappointment. We each ordered a different temperature, ranging from rare to medium. To our surprise and dismay, the carver sliced three consecutive cuts from the same beef. Why even bother asking us how we like our beef?? And the beef had little flavor (under spiced). The stars were the sides, especially the creamed spinach. Overall, a huge disappointment for the holidays.

Went there for lunch today, and there were no waiters or waitresses hardly. We had to get up and refill our drinks ourselves from the wait stations. The lunch was a little buffet deal. The prime rib was good but The turkey was overcooked and dry. vegetables were good not much of a salad bar. For the money there are far better places I would not recommend Lawrys.

Waitress Elizabeth was very thoughtful, kind, and attentive. Only distraction was hostess who seated us at a booth and when I —79 years old and limping—asked her to pull the table out to facilitate my sliding in said, “We only pull the tables out at night”. What kind of rule is that? She didn’t even linger to see that table was pushed in appropriately. Food was great and service was excellent, but this was a real turnoff for me. Also, the black, grey, and white tone pieces of canvas on the walls are incongruous with the ambiance of the restaurant and to put it simply do not enhance the dining experience.

I have made better prime rib at home. We were so disappointed in our meal. Last year's Father's Day meal here was so much better. The prime rib on this visit was sliced really thin and had absolutely no flavor. We were actually saying that we would have had a better, more enjoyable meal at Texas Roadhouse. (And saved ourselves about 200 bucks!) The pork belly appetizer was pretty good, though!

We stopped by for lunch prior to a visit to the doctor. The staff was welcoming from the start, and couldn't do enough for us. At lunch, they have a server who carves the prime rib for you to order. We both had the Lawry cut, along with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes with gravy. All were well prepared, warm, and inviting. There is a small salad and condiment bar provided at no charge. Beware! The horseradish they provide will clean your sinuses - a little but goes a long ways. The meat was medium rare, mostly tender, and quite flavorful with the au jus and a dab of horseradish. The setting was quiet and intimate. It met or exceeding my expectations. We will return.

Prime rib was just ok. Nothing great about the salad or anything else I had. Service was one of the worst experiences I’ve had even if I’ve eaten for under $100, and this was a $350 meal for my party.
Be the first to ReplyHope your experience is better than our’s…
This was not a good meal. The escargot appetizer was not hot & was served with hard bread, not soft bread that could be used for dipping. We shared the largest cut of prime rib, which was barely seasoned and not hot. The mashed potatoes were runny & tasted like instant potatoes & were not hot, nor was the Yorkshire pudding. We asked to split the meal and received runny potatoes & slab of meat on one dinner plate, with no second plate provided. We used the appetizer plate when no other plate arrived. We love real mashed potatoes but left that mess on the plate. Totally disappointed in a restaurant that used to be so good & won’t be back.

We recently gathered for a private family gathering and experienced an extraordinary evening of outstanding service, food from beginning to end. The event included four courses, and each was chosen and delivered wonderfully. I highly recommend any appetizer. However, the large shrimp and delicious crab cake were favorites. The wedge salad is also good... however, I was missing red onion, I've had with others. The filet mignon, Chilean seabass, and of course, prime rib can't be beat. Then, the deserts... Creme Brule, pecan pie, and three layer chocolate cake punctuated a special evening. Prices are on the expensive side, but the environment service and quality of food were OUTSTANDING.
Be the first to ReplyWay to expensive for sub par meat
Was very disappointed in the Prime Rib. Thought this was what they specialized in. The salad bar was the best part of the meal. Was only able to eat half of the serving because it was chewy and tough. The quality of the meat is definitely not up to par. I ordered a Prime Rib from Kansas City Steakhouse for New Year’s the next week and got rave reviews from my guests.

First time here in several years. It is what I would describe as a "throw back" to a different time. Service was fair; like many restaurants the wait staff is stretched thin. My prime rib was as requested. If I return, I will request the au jus on the side as the carver drenched it, which hid the flavor of the prime rib. I would have liked a baked potato, but refused to pay $12 to substitute. $12!!!!! My wife's surf and turf was prepared as requested. Bottom line........overpriced.

Just celebrated our 17th anniversary today, Lawrys is our go to place for anniversaries, birthdays, and just because we enjoy the restaurant. We’ve never had a bad experience there.
Be the first to ReplyThe Bar, and…Arby’s?!
Our group came in for drinks at approximately 4pm. We were told that Happy Hour started at 4:30, and the kitchen didn’t open until 5pm, so, no food for our meeting. That was substandard for an empty restaurant. Worse, we overheard the Chef talking about how expensive the “Famous Prime Rib” was to get for the restaurant, Turkey was, too, and that “you could get better, cheaper Prime Rib at Arby’s, which he described as a fusion restaurant. We had been promised drinks by a man who said he was a manager. 45 minutes later, no manager, and again no drinks. Happy hour had started, my company sat thirsty, and still, no drinks! Finally, I approached the hostess to get the managerShe was African American and smelled of a stinky body odor. I brought my buddy over and he held his nose. We later had a good laugh! She could barely be torn away from her phone. I’m to assume that this is the best representation of a Lawry’s hostess that they had. My company would have fired her and told her that was very inappropriate. When the manager sauntered over, he started talking to what we assumed was a big male bartender. I again asked the hostess if they could send a bartender over. We saw her make a hand motion to go actually pay attention to us. Then she returned to her phone. By then, people were filing in. Another girl had arrived and looked frazzled because the stinky one was, wait for it…on her phone doing nothing as more people arrived. We finished up our meeting and drinks and said Thank You as we rushed out the door to avoid the one host’s stink. We decided our next meeting would be at that “Fusion restaurant” that the Chef called..Arby’s. Better food, according to him. Better service for certain. And likely, less stink. This place is going to hell. The bathroom had stale standing piss. It was awful. There is nothing you can do to persuade me to come back. Thanks for ruining what should have been a good meeting! We will never, ever be back.

First time at Lawry’s in more than 30 years. It strikes me as a “wanna be”, that is a restaurant that wants to be top tier but can’t quite get there. First, the famous “spinning salad“ with Catalina dressing didn’t fit my taste. The bread was about as simple as you can get…certainly nothing special. Everything is served table side. Even the prime rib is carved table side. When I was being served, I was asked would you like creamed corn or spinach? I thought that was a nice complementary touch! But oh no! When the check arrived, I was charged $8 for the corn. I thought that was a cheap trick to pull on unsuspecting customer! I’ll not return! There’s too many better options.

Absolutely amazing! Being in the beef business, our expectations are high when it comes to good beef. The Prime rib was cooked to perfection and so tender we could cut it with a fork. The service (Mr. Thompson) was supreme and topped off our experience. Looking forward to returning next time we are in Dallas.
Be the first to ReplyThree of us were at Lawry’s
Three of us were at Lawry’s Dallas last night. The food was as usual very good. The service was very sub par. The waiter was not very attentive to us. He was late with everything we asked. I called a host over to tell her of our concerns. She basically ignored our request. I hope they can get these issues corrected. Many restaurants in Dallas are closing. I hope this is not in the cards for Lawry’s.
Be the first to ReplyBest Prime Rib anywhere!
We celebrate our anniversary here every year (traveling 350 miles to get here) and often are joined by friends. Over time, the menu has offered many other options, but not for me! The prime rib is perfect every time, as are the side dishes. There is no meal I like better than this one. The service is always exceptional. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyFirst Dinner out in 6 months
Due to Covid we have been very careful. We had first wanted to do the Sunday brunch at Lawry's , however, due to Covid they have not reopened for Sunday Brunch...Bummer! We were able to book Saturday evening for Dinner. It was excellant. The Escargo were a hit! And, the Prime Rib was perfect. . The service was great also. I can not find fault with the restaurant. Their hours were only 5pm to 8pm..However thet were busy! They have done a good job to make the experience safe and inviting considering the COVID issues.
