Ghastly Meal
Had the worst Margarita ever along with overcooked, dry chicken. The replacement drink was no better. Noise level is disco rage and seating is elbow to elbow. They have a good PR person for an overpriced, noisy, crowded restaurant. Be sure to go elsewhere, NY has much, much better to offer
Be the first to ReplyTres bonne!!
Everything was spot on, food, service and ambiance. The truffle risotto, Cajun chicken and the duck were outstanding. The desserts were the icing on the cake (pun intended) Looking forward to our next visit.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dinning experience in a(n) (unfortunately) noisy environment
The food description as well as pictures of finished plates conveyed exactly the plates served. Food was tasty. Personnel very professional and, almost all, billingual (French and English - albeit with a nice French accent!). On the minus side there is no sound absorbing roofing, the dinning hall is extremely noisy - not conductive to a calm eating experience or a romantic outing. On top the volume of the background music was loud and, due to sound accousitcs, in our corner we were getting only some frequences that compounded the noise misery. Concluding, the restaurant delivers what it promises, it might improve on the accoustic - noise plan.

Le Bilboquet has always been incredibly consistent. The menu has changed since we last visited 4 years ago but still have a lot of diverse options. The only dish that was just okay were the zucchini flowers - soggy with too much ricotta. The tartare and branzino were excellent and the service was flawless. Wines by the glass offerings are limited. They go out of their way to make sure that you dress to their expectations - almost to the point of being obnoxious.

We had coffee and cake in this French tearoom . Nice and different . I was a bit confused though when i got the bill : almost $ 30 . While the coffee was only $ 4,5 . . Well … as they had no regular milk (?) she suggested almond . ( a dollar extra ) and as no pastry was priced , i was amazed to pay $ 9 for a scone . Own fault . So be warned .
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, good food
Attentive service and food good too, a bit pricey but was always going to be in this part of town. A busy restaurant but that added to the vibe.
Be the first to Replyworst place ever !
It was a birthday brunch celebration. I checked my brand new leather coat and the coat check person ripped it with something. It was returned damaged and when i complained to the restaurant, they claimed of course they did not do it. This restaurant is so arrogant and snobby and looking at other reviews, it is not worth giving our business to this snobby place. You would think that with its prices and locations, they would be more accommodating to customers. Never go there!!!

I couldn't get passed the fact that the wait staff made me feel like I work for them. Food is mediocre. This visit was a once and done deal for me. I will say I was forewarned but chose to ignore. Good news - steps away from much more enjoyable venues with extremely good food.

Our favourite NYC restaurant but I had to send back my chicken not underdone as requested Good welcome from giacomo and excellent service from andrada Serious prices but not stupid. Lovely environment.
Be the first to ReplyDoesn’t care about the client !
Incorrectly charged $100 for a no-show. Gregory, the Maître’d promised to take care of the reimbursement, but nothing seem in over 6 weeks! The owner , Philippe Delgrange, stays completely silent ignoring all of the emails sent. The restaurant told me to make a claim with Amex. This is supposed to be a first class establishment, but they don’t act accordingly with incorrect and illegal charges on my Amex card. I didn’t want to write this on social media, but they give me no choice as they completely ignore all of my requested. The restaurant accepts that it’s an error but refuses to reimburse the erroneous charge ! Don’t bother reserving here if you want to take the risk of getting incorrectly charged fees
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced, mediocre and average tourist French
This place is below gourmet expectations: basic French menu with little to make it special. The service was fine, but the pricing is 40% at least over value. The dishes were ok, but sauces poor to inedible. Don’t bother, read the other negative comments and choose another restaurant. I had the crab and avocado salad, which was nicely presented but had no flavor, mealy texture crabmeat. The main course I splurged and had lobster, which was rubbery and bland, sauce tasteless and the accompanying pasta was some kind of mushy tubular morsel, that was unidentifiable. Others had veal, covered in some non descript brown gravy. The Cajun chicken came served underneath a mound of frites, lacking in any flavor and unremarkable seasoning. Dessert was a lovely looking meringue crown, but surrounding a stemless pasty cream of some sort. The wine was costly for what we ordered $120 for an american white that would have been a third that cost elsewhere, and was also unremarkable. The bill was the last straw in an altogether surprisingly disappointing meal. Most expensive and least impressive dinner of our entire NYC weekend. We wasted an evening when we could have dined in a better place.
Be the first to Replystaff experience
We as a group made a reservation on a Saturday afternoon for happy hour. it ended with a disaster…. Firstly, the staff is horrible, their attitude is very rude and disrespectful. We were expecting to have so much fun, we wished as never been there. The guy works at the entrance mixed our bill and told us to leave the restaurant because it was nearly the closing time. To add, before we got up he told us the bill has been already paid. At the first, we knew something was off about the situation, we questioned it again however they were in a hurry and insisted us to leave so we left… couple of hours later I received a notification from my bank that they charged my card. I reached out back the restaurant, they picked up several calls later with a very rude attitude even it was their fault. The lady on the phone hanged up on my face before I finished my sentence. Overall, it was the worst restaurant experience. They are trying to play it cool and chic, confusing the word chic and cheap..
Be the first to ReplyHarried, unprofessional, chaotic with sub-par food
There was no fine dining element to this chaotic scene. Untrained waiters, generally rude (in the NY manner, not in the French manner). Ordered tap water. Was charged $30 for Evian, Did not dispute it. Undercooked duck I cut with a butter knife - no staff in sight. Cajun chicken (French restaurant) was mediocre. Two desserts were not edible. Phony French salutations upon receiving our bombshell check.
Be the first to ReplyMy favourite Newyork restaurant.
Starting with a warm welcome from Gregory the maitre d a delightful room and not too noisy. Usual new York prices but aside selectiongood service and value for money. Good service from andrada. Always leave with a good feeling.
Be the first to ReplyAlways amazing food and service
I visit frequently this restaurant for brunch and dinner, and both menus are amazing. One of the best Brunchs in NY. FOr Dinner, the lobster is one of the best I ever tried! The service always good. They have a dresscode (They don't accept shorts)
Be the first to ReplyGood food, lousy waiter.
Ate outside again and had an excellent dinner. I had the cajun chicken (yum) and my friends had the halibut and the duck (also yum). The Maitre d' was very welcoming and nice but our waiter was just awful. My bill said his name was Michele. Pranced around like he thought he was a movie star, didn't make eye contact, didn't listen to what you said to him or pay attention. At the end of the meal, I asked for the check. When he brought it, I reached out to take it from him and he just slammed it down on the table at the far end away from me!!!! My friends and I compared notes afterwards and we all agreed that that he was terrible. It's a shame but it's little details like that that make you think "I'm not coming back".
Be the first to ReplyExtremely répugnant maître d’
This restaurant will win the prize for the most arrogant and ill-mannered maître d’ ever. He is very impressed with himself for working in a “ fancy” french restaurant but he has a lot to learn about the real great french restaurants , who know how to treat their customers. Ce restaurant est à éviter à tout prix , n’y mettez jamais les pieds!!!
Be the first to ReplyPretentious can be amusing, but only when there’s something to be pretentious about
Incredibly rude and aggressive maitre d sets the tone for the meal -was told to wait outside until my friends arrived despite the restaurant being 75% empty, then the maitre d interrupted his conversation with other clients to provoke me with snide comments; normally I would have left at this point but the booking was not mine and my friends had not arrived. The food was expensive for what it was: standard chicken/steak with salad/ mashed potato, tourist French stuff, entirely average. Table service was also poor: we had to fetch our wine from the ice bucket -three staff mentioned they noticed we did that, pity they did not notice the empty glasses and had done their job instead. Expensive for what it is. We left to take desert elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyBeware of Host- he should be deported back to France!
Was greeted by an arrogant, nasty, and uneducated maître d'. I have eaten here several times but after this last experience, will NEVER return. The host offended me twice in front of my guest by explaining how I was not properly dressed for outdoor seating on a 40-degree day - all the outdoor sections were empty except for one table at the end of the corridor. This host explained that jeans were accepted but my black Brioni stretch pants and Missoni sweater were not up to their standard dress code. He ruined our experience and there is no food in the world good enough to go through this nasty person's behavior. Too bad I did not get his name.
Be the first to ReplyVibrant and very French
Very busy and noisy. It’s a place to people watch. Service was a bit slow but again extremely busy. Food was very good not great and the portions were generous. Excellent wine list but very pricey. It is New York and decent French food will cost you
Be the first to ReplyThe best lunch in nyc
Every time in new york. Beautiful location and not too noisy.
Superb food.
Great welcome from Gregory and amazing service from satyagraha.
Wine is outrageous. Enjoy the house rose.
Expensive but vfm.
The New Year celebration. Restaurant was heavily packed at the time of worst COVID outburst.
Heavily overpacked during worst time of pandemic, both my husband and I got sick with COVID during celebration. The restaurant was filled with people more than any regulations allow, especially for the worst outburst of COVID-19. No distance between anything, the space was so tight, waiters (who did a spectacular job!) had to literally squeeze themselves between the tables to serve food. Truly disappointed.

What a hidden gem. I love French food, but I really REALLY REAL French food. And Le Bilboquet does it well. I can't wait to go back.
The whole experience went by fast because the service was impeccable and we were eating as we had never seen food before. Everyone seemed happy to see us, and our server was a seasoned professional.
Terrible customer service
My experience at the restaurant last night was terrible! My friend and I walked in and the hosts were nowhere to be found, so we went inside and was asked to go back outside to speak to the host. The host wasn’t really friendly and had quite an attitude. Hence, it was busy inside we were sat down in between a table of a family and a couple. The tables was so close together that I felt uncomfortable. I remember the last time I was there the service was so much better and they did follow covid protocol and didnt have the tables too close to each other maybe because it was a company lunch? Anyway, I’ve seen the staff so busy and so in a rush that I didn’t feel like I got the elevated customer experience especially at a restaurant like this. When it was time to get the check and to pack the food, one of the waiters (didnt get his name but bald with an accent) was extremely rude said we couldnt pack the mussels to go along with the bread that was on the side. I’ve never heard of that so I was flustered and asked to speak to the manager. The manager Baptiste came over and apologized. He was the only person that was friendly and helpful. He told me not to get upset and gave us a complimentary dessert. He then asked the rude waiter to pack our food but he made a mess. The container he put the mussels in wasn’t correctly sealed and spilled everywhere which made the containers wet. I am beyond disappointed especially it was my friend’s first time there to celebrate my engagement. I definitely would not return or recommend any of my friends and my family to go. Overall the food was mediocre, it definitely did not taste as good as the first time I was there. They added to much sauce to the Le poulet chicken. I would prefer going else where that would provide better customer service.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible place
Just terrible. They sat my girlfriend and I in this table in the middle of the floor and every busboy, waiter and even customer used it as a corridor to either go to the toilet or deliver and pick up plates. They only kiss ass to the customers who seem rich! 🤮And the food is not as good as it used to be.
