The only good thing about this overpriced restaurant is the signature Cajun chicken dish. Otherwise, the staff is rude and the experience sucks. And good luck trying to experience the ambiance that you made a reservation for 6 weeks in advance and didn't get. Not worth the hype. Save your money. Or spend it at Maison Close instead.
Be the first to ReplyUpdate - This review was actually for Cafe Bilboquet.
Stopped in for some nourishment after an appointment and it definitely satisfied. Ordered two ham and Swiss sandwiches on croissants, which the sweet lady who took our order very kindly heated up. Also had a large mocha latte, which was just so so. Wasn't as decadent as I would have liked. Was a bit cramped and loud inside, but we snagged a corner table near the door away from the crowd, which was nice. Service was sweet and sandwiches were nice and tasty. Definitely hit the spot after a long morning.

@lebilboquetny started it all in 1986 as an intimate boîte and now is thriving on the UES with their gorgeous restaurant. Le Bilboquet is perfect for a celebration dinner! The 4th picture says it all. The service is immaculate! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is magnifique! A bientôt! Came here for a birthday brunch, my friend wanted to get tipsy and dance. This review is for the overall experience and not precisely the food. Pro tip: brunch starts at 2PM, before and after 2PM are different worlds. Nomz: Had the famous Cajun chicken, the fries were delicious as was the salad that came with it. The Cajun sauce was very good and helped the chicken as it was a bit dry, white meat. Drinks: Had the top one on the cocktail menu, it was refreshing and nice. Service: It was great and over the top in the best way. They danced, they brought drinks, they refilled drinks, they took your pics/videos, they made the lights flicker with the music, they did it all. Ambiance: Before 2pm I would describe as fancy vibe with white table clothes, even a bit stuffy maybe. After 2pm, the lights are dimmed, the dj starts spinning awesome tunes and sparklers start coming out with bday bottles. Everyone dances, everyone has fun but didn't see anyone get sloppy. Nope or Dope: Dope, if you're looking for good drinks and a good time in a upscale/classy environment come here!

I love their famous Cajun chicken that is so moist and an extremely generous portion with crispy fries and fresh salad. The wine selection is excellent and so are the deserts. The ambiance is elegant but upbeat. Seating is comfortable and service is impeccable. It's always a pleasurable experience.
Be the first to ReplyIt's a love/hate relationship between Le Bilboquet and I.
The food is ok/good but the ambiance is usually what makes me choose another spot for lunch. It's loud inside- like a cafeteria- and the small tables are practically on top of one another. I won't recommend to friends.
Be the first to ReplyEverything was spot on, food, service and ambiance.
The truffle risotto, Cajun chicken and the duck were outstanding. The desserts were the icing on the cake (pun intended) Looking forward to our next visit.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food.
Attentive service and a Pleasant atmosphère, although a bit loud! The dishes were well prepared and served most appetisingly!

2 of us went for brunch on Sunday. We were refused to dine in because they have a dress code. It's a Sunday and around the neighborhood plus this is not a Michelin start restaurant. It's just a casual place to us. We were on our sneakers. But whatever, we were fine and planned to find another place outside. In the meantime, the next party arrived. 2 white peoples also with sneakers and casual clothes. But they were let in. So I asked him why were they allowed because clearly they are also casual to me. And no difference of our dress code. He told me it's not because of the sneakers but because I'm wearing sweatpants but they are wearing regular pants. OMG, so he has the power to define their dress code. And the internal decor is just an average nyc restaurant not even worth me to dress up. If you want to kiss their ass, go with you nicest cloth to this place. Hahahaha I saw tons of similar reviews. So my bad not checking before going.
Be the first to ReplyThe best chicken you can order in a any restaurant.
It is simply the best ever. French place with cool ambience and excellent service.

Stopped by as the place looked welcoming for desserts and coffee on a cold winter evening. We sat outside where they have placed heaters. Coffees were great. We got a few cappuccinos and mochas on the table. The pastries went really well with the coffees.

Their Cobb salad with champagne vinaigrette is one of my favorite salads in NYC - it is pricey but worth every penny in my opinion. I also really enjoy their house rose wine.

I hated the atmosphere of this place so much I left right after being seated. So, the food may be great, but I do not want to listen to, and have to talk over TECHNO-beat music while having dinner. Why in the world do they play, loudly, that kind of music in what could have been a fairly charming restaurant. That said, the place was packed, so I guess a lot of people don't mind. And, for what it is worth, the host was as polite as good be.

so my boss was taking us to this restaurant as a gift and she made reservations out a 300 dollar deposit and when we got there we all had our scrub uniforms in and the man at the door comes up to us and says no sweat pants we thought he was joking because it was clear it was uniform scuba and so when I told him it's scrubs he says that their site says no u inform when it does not very nasty very rude he wanted to sit us in a corner when the place was empty to hide us I guess because we are of color and the was a man in there dressed down and he had the. nerves to say that horrible rude nasty person at the front of course we didn't even stay because that was so horrible
Be the first to ReplyFood was great.
I had the house special chicken "Le Poulet Cajun" wine was spectacular as well. Tables can be bigger with a bit more space in between the neighboring party however we were a big group. Food was top notch definitely will return back

OMG. ....family and I just want there this past Thursday, was horrible, it was overcrowded, overpriced for mediocre assembly line food, but the worst was that they allow dogs in the restaurant...are you serious ? ...right next to us was a dog with a bed the owner brought and the dog actually stood on his hind legs and tried to get food from our table.....WHY IN THE WORLD ALLOW DOGS that is NOT a service animal ? ....I can only assume it is to appease the narcissistic, self centered woman who the dog belongs to ... I will never go back, I do not want food with dog hair nor eating off surfaces where a dog's a*ss has been sitting.

Food 3/10The duck came out cold and they didn't even bother giving us the right knife to cut it. I had to ask for a sharper knife. The charcuterie board was just plain sad. Overpriced. I'm very disappointed. Service 1/10I came after going to the gym, and the place did not say they had a dress code, but the host was clearly judging me he looked at my fit up and down. It was extremely disrespectful and rude. Atmosphere 4/10It was a nice space, but I felt suffocated in there.
Be the first to ReplyA good bye brunch for a friend who moved to Miami Beach.
She goes here often and it is one of her favorite spots. I honestly thought we would just have a bougie boozey brunch, but wow was I wrong. This place is a night club and brunch had a child. Not in a bad way what so ever. It is uppy and so much fun. They have sparklers whenever you get a bottle and everyone gets a bottle here. So you are smelling lots of smoke and residue. The food is okay, but think you would go here more for the experience than the food. This place definitely will be my go to for my birthday in November. Have a few of my gfs and just have a good time.
Be the first to ReplyFood was awful, dry chicken, overpriced everything.
Had to send back a martini because it was so poorly made. After all of this, charged wrongly for a no show after going to dinner here.No one answers the phones, so went back and the manager said they'd reach out to resy. Spoke to resy and they said no one did. Had to dispute the charge with the bank because NO ONE answers the phones. If i could give zero stars, i would.

They have real French people working there so it's quite authentic. The host upfront was really snooty, which we also enjoyed. The fries are as good as McDonald's. Will be back!

servers have attitude problems, takes too long to order and an un organized way of lining up to order something. sometimes you get cut off when your clearly ahead of them. although the reboot system, they have really nice french desserts to choose from, and sorts of savory sandwiches.

Beware of NASTY host at the entrance! An arrogant, and uneducated maître d'. I have eaten here several times but after this last experience, will NEVER return. The host offended me twice in front of my guest by explaining how I was not properly dressed for outdoor seating on a 40-degree day - all the outdoor sections were empty except for one table at the end of the corridor. This host explained that jeans were accepted but my black Brioni stretch pants and Missoni sweater were not up to their standard dress code. He ruined our experience and there is no food in the world good enough to go through this nasty person's behavior. Too bad I did not get his name. Don't waste your time here, there are so many fabulous French restaurants in the city that are nice and happy to seat you.
Be the first to ReplyRude host.
Won't go back. Wanted to have lunch at an outside table on a Monday at 2 pm to celebrate my husband's birthday. . The host told us that he would let us stay today for lunch but that next time our clothing would not be appropriate attire for outdoor dining. Black leggings white sneakers and a Moncler coat not appropriate for street dining in nyc???Never had any host tell me that my attire was not appropriate for dining at a street table . Won't return to be insulted again. By the way all the outdoor tables were empty except for one other. Perhaps I know why
