Le Crocodile Vancouver Reviews from The Last Year

This place is an absolute gem - unmissable during any trip
This place is an absolute gem - unmissable during any trip to Vancouver for our family. Brian took exceptional care of our table during our most recent visit. Never an empty glass, missing cutlery, or an awkward pause between courses. I'd like to say we switched things up this time, but we really didn't (other than adding caviar service, and swapping the veal medallions for the duck - we pretty much repeated the same meals we've had previously, no regrets). I love this place with the passion of a thousand suns - every dinner here is a delight.
Absolutely delicious and exceptional dining experience.
Classic fine dining with lovely and attentive service. Everything we ordered was excellent with good-sized portions. Their complementary table bread and shoe string fries were amazing as well. Ordered: Appetizers: Lobster bisque / crab cakes Entrees (specials): halibut with beurre blanc sauce / beef Wellington Dessert: lemon meringue tart with raspberry sorbet / Grand Marnier Soufflé
It's pricey, but the service and food make up for it.
Our friend treated us to dinner. I got the aged steak, medium rare. Our total was about 600$, BUT we got a wine bottle (worth around 300) and a bunch of appetizers. Definitely do not come here if you're not willing to pay for the experience. It was three of us. I think my friend got the scallops and my husband got the beef Wellington. For appetizers, we got oysters, escargot, two different duck pate. My husband and friend got some type of mushroom soup? I think it's worth it, but if you're frugal, just stay away. You won't appreciate the service or food. It was my first time dining in a place like this? I'm usually afraid of French style restaurants, I feel like they staff is going to be rude but they were really respectable, and friendly and not in a fake way.

Every detail so perfect! Every dish incredible, rich, flavorful, perfect in texture, with delectable sauces. The hostess was graceful, keen, and efficient. Pierre was the consummate server - we really felt taken care of. The menu was intriguing and the list of specials was long. The ambience was clean, careful, and poised. Potatoes were served so many ways in one meal and each preparation was delicious. The frog legs were perfectly prepared in a rich and buttery sauce, complemented by a rich tomato coulis. The lobster tail with truffles was perfect in texture and mild enough in flavor to really highlight the truffles. Our main course was taking longer than expected so Pierre brought a complimentary plate of their signature julienne fries that are incredibly crispy. The scallops were perfectly cooked and paired with white beets and potatoes, in a heavenly sauce that was rich and tart and velvety. But the pièce de résistance was the Grand Marnier soufflé with crême Anglaise served table-side. As the souffle approached I could already see it was jiggling with superb texture. The crême had just the right subtle hint of orange flavor, and the combination was magical. An absolutely perfect dessert that melts in your mouth. A really spectacular night out in every respect.
Came in with a reservation.
The hostess and server were very nice and welcoming! They have a special menu but they don't have a physical listing of the special. I ordered the Foie gras platter and escargot as an appetizer. For the main course, I got the scallop with vegetables, rack of lambs and fries. Lastly we got complimentary sorbet and chocolate! I never had French food so this was a great experience!
Amazing food, taste and presentation and everything just
Amazing food, taste and presentation and everything just perfect. I need to get a second job so I can eat here more often. Great staff, very professional and efficient, quite the experience. A bit pricier than the average restaurant, but it's a noticeable step above, it's worth it.
We had an excellent dinner.
The staff were completely professional and knowledgeable. They were courteous and not intrusive. The layout is fairly European - close quarters compactly arranged. Le Crocodile however does use adequate size tables, so the food and serving items are not crowded - a welcome improvement over the Parisienne bistros. The food was nearly perfect. Lobster with saffron butter was beautifully presented and steamed correctly. Starters and salads were wonderful. The escargot served in a pasty 'shell' is a lovely alternative to the natural shell. Risotto with mushrooms was creamy and well balanced. The single flaw was the duck confit. Confit should be succulent. This version was perhaps subjected to excessive heat. It did not make the dish bad, it just could have been better. All in all a lovely evening.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
