Legal Sea Foods - Copley Boston Reviews from The Last Year

It's hidden inside the mall and it has some nice window seats. The service was quick and nice. We loved the clam chowder and lobster rolls. The drink was tasty as well.
Middle of the road
The restaurant was convenient to the hotel and the menu is pretty extensive. I got the special which was pasta with lobster and scallops in a mushroom sauce. It was ok; nothing really special. The scallops were gritty, the lobster was ok and the pasta was cooked well. The clam chowder was also very gritty and I couldn't finish it. I've never had calamari like that before. It was like fried air. The server was friendly but very, very slow. Several tables around us were served long before we were.

The high prices are justified by impeccable service and exquisite cuisine. From the moment you enter, you're greeted with elegance and sophistication. The attentive staff, including our exceptional server, guides you through a menu filled with culinary delights. I had the lobster roll and clam chowder. While pricey, the experience is undeniably worth every penny. You'll enjoy your dinning experience here.
The last time I visited Legal Seafood was back when I was
The last time I visited Legal Seafood was back when I was graduate school across the river many years ago, and back then, I could have sworn Legal Seafood restaurants were much more upscale vs the casual dining eatery it is now. Anyway, we decided to try out Legal Seafood at this location as it was near our hotel and easily accessible via the shopping mall walkways connected to our hotel....plus, it was pouring rain and didn't want to go walking outside. This place is very spacious, clean, and has a pleasant casual interior ambiance. We noticed there was tables by the window with some nice views, so we asked the hostess for one of those tables. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait, which we didn't mind....although less than half the restaurant was filled at this late lunch hour. Our server seemed nice, but not outwardly friendly like we're used to in California....not a problem as long as the food is good. The menu is quite long with lots of delicious looking seafood favorited to choose from. But, we managed to narrow our choice down to a couple of lunch specials, and added an order of Fish and Chips for fun. For the lunch specials, we ordered one Crab and one Lobster Roll, with a side of fries on one, coleslaw on the other, and a bowl of the NE Clam Chowder and Lobster Bisque. So, to start out with the good....the fish and chips was very good....loved the simple coated fried fish which had a very nice light thin crunch to it, and the fish (was told it was haddock) tasted really fresh, fresh and hot out of the fryer, not oily at all, and very delicious. The NE clam chowder was also really yummy.....hot, thick, creamy, and full of ingredients.....not too salty tasting at all. The lobster bisque, on the other hand, was pretty salty and just didn't taste right, so we asked to have it replaced with another NE clam chowder, which our server was more than happy to take care of for us. The crab and lobster rolls were not bad, but the portion of each was really skimpy.....there was more bread roll than crab/lobster meat.....not worth the high price at all. I guess our lunch experience was ok.....defintiely not the same Legal Seafood I remember from many years ago. I'm sure the seafood in Boston is better than this.
This location is not up to par for service or the food. Other locations much better
Disappointing meal and lack luster service. The fisherman’s platter was in the smaller side, the Cole slaw on the plate next to the fries instead of in a little cup. The block of battered something was maybe calamari or the clam strips or both??? Staff seemed uninterested and sad as we are regular customers to the other locations. This location is not worth it. Management did reach out but only wanted to talk on phone. I didn’t want anything other than - I’m sorry that your lunch did not meet your expectations and we are truly sorry about it.
Service was good.
Salmon was tasty, however the couscous side was awful and didn't even look appealing. Haddock was ok, but once again the side of rice was not flavorful and the broccoli was bland. It was undercooked and seemed like it was just cooked in oil. The calamari was outstanding! For $100 meal for two, I would not go here again.

This visit to Boston I went to this restaurant three times! Lol Alyson and Eli took care of me on 2 occasions and they were kind and attentive. I truly appreciate that. Of course I had clam chowder since the weather has been a bit chilly. I enjoyed the pei mussels and black magic oysters!! The scallops on top of whipped sweet potatoes were delicious too!! Great experience!

We were so excited to eat here because of the strong and steady reputation. So disappointed in the food. Linguine with clams was overcooked, but lobster Mac n cheese was outstanding. Lobster bisque was watery and underwhelming. So a mediocre experience overall given the price....
Clam chowder was good.
Lobster Roll nothing special. But, I AM NOT COMING BACK. Service was terrible. Server was rude and given her attitude I should have left without ordering. I asked to see the pressed sushi menu. Server responded that, "it's just pressed sushi." So, I asked what it was and she said, "it's just pressed sushi, not that good, nobody orders it." Other tables around me were sending dishes back before they even arrived because of how long it took, too. Also table next to us tried splitting check in 5 and were told they couldn't.
Beat service and food of our trip,
First time at Legal Seafood. I was a little disappointed when I realized that the restaurant was in a mall and looked like a generic chain restaurant. My opinion totally changed when we were approached by a pair of servers, who were double teaming our table. Mesa and John took care of our table. We both opted to have the prefix meal special. I had the best bowl of clam. chowder that I have ever had. My entrée was Tournedos of beef with a creamy crabcake. My dessert was Boston cream pie. It was was all delicious. My husband had the chicken lollipops and the Salmon entrée followed by cheesecake. A bottle of rosé topped off the meal. The service was outstanding. Both Mesa and John were professional, knowledgeable and fun. The food was truly delicious.

Good place to bring out of town guests because it's based within the mall. Food was good; the lobster Mac and cheese was such a sight! Yummy and fun looking on the table. Service was okay.
yeah unfortunately this place has declined.
they were short staffed with tons of tables but wanted me to wait... and wouldn't seat me in a nice bright area. i was in a dark table...
Legal Seafoods Copley provided a delightful seafood
Legal Seafoods Copley provided a delightful seafood experience with a menu that showcased freshness and flavor. The clam chowder was a standout, setting the tone for the meal with its rich and creamy goodness. From the crispy fish sandwich to the oysters, calamari, and fish tacos, each dish was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality. While the service was good, albeit a bit slow, the staff's knowledge and friendliness added to the overall positive experience. The only drawback was the slightly outdated interior, but the delicious seafood offerings more than made up for it. If you're in the mood for a seafood feast and can overlook the aesthetics, Legal Seafoods Copley is a solid choice for a satisfying dining experience.
Just plain bad.
It was like eating at the 99 chain, just more expensive. Legal is nowhere as good as it used to be. BTW - the restaurant was like 90% empty.
this place rocks.
they split everything for you if you ask nicely..... amazing. need more of this place in my life. can't remember servers name but she was great. lmao

I hosted a client dinner for 60 that turned into 75 a few months ago, and they handled it perfectly. Great food, terrific service, and a really nice room all added up to a fabulous evening that my clients are still raving about. If they can handle my crowd I'm sure they will do right by you and your fate or your family (or even both!) Either way, I was pleased.
One Enjoyable Dinner at Legal Seafdood
We always enjoy eating at Legal Seafood. My favorite is the steamed lobster with some Organic Pei Mussels. My wife enjoys the New England chowder with a crab cake. The food is always good and the service as well.
Just as great as I remember
I left Boston more than 20 years ago. This was my first real visit to the city. I had my first meal here. The clam chowder and crab entree were fantastic! The waiter, Jon, was great as was the young person who sat me. I appreciate that she gave me a table at the window even though I was alone.
If you are looking for gluten-free seafood served with a smile, look no further.
Terrific service at this chain restaurant that serves a full gluten-free menu with confidence. Our server was just a delight. The variety of food available was impressive, and the quality of the fresh fish and seafood was worth every penny.
Excellent Food excellent experience.
My husband and I really enjoyed the food and the staff were so accommodating. The Clam chowder was hot and the taste was supper. The clams were plump, tender and delicious. My husband had Chapino and he enjoyed it to the last mouth full. Our waitress Nathalie was a real professional. She treated us like were were special to her and she made the evening a wonderful experience. We will definitely come back.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue? |
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
