Excellent as usual
We were at Leroy last night with friends and had a fantastic dinner. The restaurant was full and buzzy. The food was even better than the last time. Sweetbreads to die for. The wine suggestions from the sommelier worked perfectly with our small plates. The scallop crudo with blood orange was innovative and delicious. Front of house staff were informative and attentive but not in your face. The laid back unstuffy atmosphere is perfect, we enjoyed the choice of vinyl records being played. The young chefs all looked happy in the kitchen whilst banging out tasty dishes. Definitely recommended. Goes from strength to strength.
Be the first to ReplyNot worthy of a Michelin star
Our dinner was lovely, and the venue was nice, but I’m surprised that this restaurant has a Michelin star. The service was very poor for this level. Our empty glasses of water weren’t instantly refilled, our finished plates were left on the table for ages, despite servers constantly walking past, and the booking note I left (that we were there to celebrate my friend’s 30th) was completely ignored. There was also no standard ‘enjoy your meal’ etc. If this was a normal restaurant, I’d overlook these things, but I think the details are important when it comes to dining at a Michelin star restaurant. One other gripe I have is that Leroy added a charity donation to the bill without asking us in advance. I know ‘it’s only a £1’, but I feel it’s presumptuous, even a bit cheeky, when restaurants do this. As I said, though, the food itself was high qualify. Just don’t come here if you’re looking for a traditional Michelin dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the one star Michelin
We went to Leroy because it was near our place and was one of the one star restaurants in the Michelin guide. However, it didn’t really felt like a Michelin experience as the staff who served us was rude. We’ve been to a lot of one starred Michelin restaurants before and we always feel we want to go back. Unfortunately, this was different for us. We were late to be seated on our booking schedule. There were 4 of us who went and we asked that all our food be served together, but instead we got one plate over the other so we had to wait until the food got cold. We spoke to the waiter about this and he replied “ well I told you that some plates were for sharing and you said yes and now your plate will go cold”. On top of that, my pregnant friend ordered the chicken on the menu, when the served the dish it was a bit bloody and had streaks of blood on the meat so we asked if they could cook it well cos she can’t eat raw because of her pregnancy. The server then replied that it was cooked to their standards and that it was cooked. We couldn’t take the risk of letting her eat blood streaked chicken meat so we asked if it could be well done. His resolution was to chop off the bloody part put it in the oven and serve it back. We felt that we had no choice but to agree. In the end, we told the manager what happened but even him was not apologetic and tried to tell us that the blood stained chicken was cooked to their standards. We left without having desserts and with regrets of going to the restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, good service
We had a family birthday lunch on Saturday. I booked well in advance. The place is bright and clean, light and cosy. The food was excellent. The staff, all female were very pleasant, and service was prompt and helpful. We shared all our dishes, which were imaginative and full of interesting flavours.
Be the first to ReplyI forgive thee, for bone marrow and mont blanc
It was our first wedding anniversary and I was recommended by a friend. The bookings were going real fast and i only had 8:45pm, when i called the restaurant to ask if we could be moved earlier, the person on the line said we can be moved to 8:30 but the tone of her voice not hospitable at all. Then, when we actually got to the restaurant, it was fully packed and great atmosphere and music (although the tables could have done it with more space). I was served the bread even before my drink and it seemed the service was not very organised for a starred restaurant? I wasn't expecting a traditional type of table service or anything but the order of food arriving and interval between dishes etc. Anyway, i was a bit disappointed the bread was served cold. Then shortly after we got the crab dish which was very good. Then the wait begun.....for more than 40 min. The waitress was kind and when i asked after 20 min she said another 5-10min. The kitchen seemed very relaxed and i wasn't getting any of the dishes remaining. 40 min passed and she said they didn't forget the food but just a few more min. Then the veal dish came, it was nice and the bone marrow was the best i've ever had in my life! At that point, i was willing to forgive all the bits that happened. But then, she told me the monk's beard dish was forgotten and she has removed it from the bill but we will be served shortly. The monks beard was also very good, too fishy for my liking but my husband was very impressed. The dessert time, we ordered mont blanc and donut but got served mont blanc and chocolate dish. I informed the staff and she said "no problem!" I was so perplexed because they got the order wrong so was expecting sorry or apologetic gesture. Anyway, donut was ok while mont blanc was heavenly. It was the perfect dessert that closed the meal and left us extremely satisfied. Finally, when paying for the bill, another lady who seemed like a manager came. She didn't even ask how our meal was and the showed me the amount on the card reader with a smirk (her face was like you stingy people don't tip). In addition, I thought it was strange because when making the reservation, they do ask about the special occasion but do not seem to make any effort to acknowledge it during the service. I was expecting a little letter of congratulations on dessert dish or something, or a simple greetings from the server. Overall, I felt some of their food is amazing, at another level and very very cheap for the quality they provide. However, if you are a 1 star restaurant, service is something people expect to get..and on some points, they were worse than my local take aways. Still, I was totally blown away by the way they play music, interior design and the food itself at a very reasonable price, I would recommend it and would go back myself.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food but not for Insta
Loved the overall experience. Went because it had a Michelin star but it felt more like a neighborhood wine bar, in a good way. Friendly service, reasonable prices, good food but not prepared for Instagram and some great wines by the glass. Sharing plates style. What really stuck in my mind was a radicchio salad with pear and Stilton, the radicchio was the best I ever had, not bitter like usual. Monks beard (a sea vegetable) was the most interesting but the cod was probably the best overall dish, complex flavors that worked incredibly well.
Be the first to ReplyThe perfect lunch!
The perfect lunch! had lunch here- three course with the devilled egg and the bread pre starter. Both excellent. The starters of tuna tartare was excellent as the salad. The Pork mains - probably the best port I’ve had: super crispy crackling nice kale and sauce. The fat bits - unsocial taste, was good but very rich so had some of it . Desert of what looks like a donut was excellent. Good cocktails. Good service. Would be back….. very soon.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, good atmosphere, very average service
We were greeted at the door; very friendly staff who took our bags & coats. However, the food arrived before a sommelier came and talked to us about ordering wine. We understand a staggered service but we had 1h45 for our booking and 2 of our plates arrived towards the very end of this window which we found pretty slow. Neither the menu, nor dishes were explained upon arrival at our table. In a normal restaurant this wouldn’t be an issue but we expected more from somewhere with a Michelin star. Whilst we understand that we were the first service of the evening, we felt that the staff were looking past us to the next service. It left us feeling undervalued as guests. We enjoyed our visit but it didn’t blow us away as we expected!
Be the first to ReplyGreat place in Shoreditch
After a warm welcome we were seated at the bar. The staff was very kind and the whole ambiance was cozy and sociable. We ordered multiple dishes (shared dining) and each and every one of them was very tasteful and good looking. The overal experience was great and I would recommend it to everyone.
Be the first to ReplyCool, Hip and Great Food
The restaurant is tucked around the back off the main road. Inside its quite cosy and after booking ahead I had a seat at the bar. The food is superb as you would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant and you can see the chef cooking in the kitchen. My only observation with the menu is that the options are not complete meals but 'plates'. This means that ideally you need to order quite a few preferably to share which is difficult to do on your own. This inevitably drives up the cost. However with cool jazz sounds being played it really is a great place.
Be the first to ReplyToo hip for the room!
Visited Leroy with a friend for a farewell dinner at 6.30pm on a Thursday. The restaurant was still half empty but we were sat next to another table of two diners that have arrived already. The waitress then came by to say she needed more space and we should move closer to the one table that was already occupied. When we told her that there was plenty of space to the other side and no one has yet arrived there she would not have any of it and insisted we moved now. We argued that due to COVID we would appreciate a bit of distance to the diners next to us. We also said that we would like some privacy but she seemed unimpressed. She then called her colleague that without any discussion just moved the table while we were sitting there. When we told him that he made us feel very uncomfortable and that we felt that his behaviour was aggressive and totally unnecessary he did not understand. We stood up and left. I used to like the place a lot and the food and bar staff are usually nice but I was so offended by their behaviour that I will not go back there.
Be the first to ReplyLunch for a birthday treat
My son had researched this restaurant - our first Michelin star restaurant. We attended for lunch. Quickly booked in & shown to our seats etc. Our table for two was a little close to the next one, so if you were hoping for an intimate meal…could be a bit awkward. However we both loved the food and service. Food was very freshly cooked and full of flavour. Good value for London. Would visit again. Many thanks for a lovely lunch
Be the first to ReplyWould 100% visit again, great place
Loved Leroy, the staff were exceptionally kind, the food was fantastic and the vibe was lovely and cosy. You choose from small plates which is perfect for getting a taste of almost all the menu, each dish I received was absolutely fantastic
Be the first to ReplySuperb Food
Had a wonderful evening at Leroy. The food was superb - delicious and beautifully presented - and the service was excellent. Would definitely dine here again.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Dining Experience - great food and amazing service!
Went here while visiting London - experience did not disappoint. We asked our server to just pick dishes for us and he knocked it out of the park. The menu changes often - so would just trust your server. The Eel Caesar salad w crispy chicken skin, the Turbot and the Beef raviolo were all excellent. Great wine by the glass selection as well - and great vibe/atmosphere. Would recommend - but make a reservation!
Be the first to ReplyRelaxed top wine bar
This is more of wine bar than a restaurant, but a very good one. The wine list is great (prices also quite high), and the accompanying food is worthwhile. Just go there to enjoy food and drinks, not to have a nice cosy chat - the music is way too loud to enjoy that pleasure too.
Be the first to ReplyNot what I expect from a Michelin star
When making the reservation, I said my wife doesn't eat meat, but eats fish. In the restaurant, I pointed out the menu was very meaty and asked if dishes could be served without meat - I was told this could be easily done, that there was no "invisible meat". We ordered (among other dishes) asparagus without the prosciutto and smoked eel without the chicken skin. The asparagus arrived with prosciutto (I took it off and ate it as I do eat meat) and the eel arrived with chicken skin under the grated cheese which we sent back. A staff member apologised, brought another version without chicken skin at no charge. I think this problem stems from the method of service where there is no one person apparently taking responsibility for our table - staff taking cues from what's on the table so anyone can pick up what is required for the next stage of the diners' meal (though I think this produces other problems). Wherever the problem comes from, it is not the level of service I expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. While the food itself was between competent and good, neither of us felt any of the dishes produced that "mmm, that tastes fantastic" reaction we have had elsewhere. Again, this is not what I expect from somewhere with a Michelin star. While all the staff were pleasant, I felt the method of service (with no one person taking responsibility) produced a sense of being rushed. So we sat down, were given the menues and asked about which water we'd like. The water came quickly and we were asked what we would like to drink. We weren't ready and asked for 5 minutes. Almost immediately a different person asked what we would like to drink. Again we said we weren't ready and yet another person came and asked. There's a difference between attentive service and the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. As an overall experience, the evening was OK, but nothing really special. I have had much better (and cheaper) food, wine and ambience in local bars and bistros (without a Michelin star).
Be the first to ReplyFantastic casual setting
Came with a couple of friends for lunch. 2nd visit and the food was equally as delicious as the 1st. Great wine and a delicious aperitif of Prosecco, Campari and mandarin. Represents fantastic value too.
Be the first to ReplyGreat veg food and relaxed atmosphere
Leroy was my first ever Michelin star experience and it was definitely right up my alley! Delicious, quality food, good-size portions, and relaxed atmosphere with super friendly staff and great record music put me at ease and all what was left to do was enjoy. The menu has great vegetarian options and courgette flower was my favourite. Seasoned with espelette peppers and built with a deep fried courgette flower at the centre of it, the dish really provided a full body experience of textures, tastes, and smells. Wine selection is huuuge to say the least so we just gave in to what was recommended. The prices are very reasonable and just like dishes - not pretentious at all despite the Michelin star next to their name. Thank you for a great experience, you've set a high bar for other restaurant visits that will follow during my short stay in London.

We sampled multiple dishes and all of them were amazing. A Michelin-starred experience! Highly recommend.

Be the first to ReplyGood food, disapointing service for a Michlin star
Upon arrival to the restaurant you are greeted with a casual laid back atmosphere, suited to dates or dining with a small group of friends/family.
We had to wait to about 10 minutes before our table was ready. This is not usually a problem as long as you have some where to sit. I was surprised that they did not offer us a drink and seat the bar while we waited, despite there being space. While this isn't the biggest of venues and space is at a premium I would have expected to be offered somewhere to wait rather than standing by the door like a lemon. If this was a lower end restaurant I wouldn't complain but for higher class of restaurant such as this one, it's not a great first impression.
Once our table was ready we were taken over by our waiter. We were offered a choice of still or sparkling water for the table and then left to look over the menu. The waiter appeared rushed and eager to get us sat down and left alone. We were not asked if we had dined here before, nor had the menu explained to us. We informed the restaurant that I was vegan prior to arrival however, this was not addressed by our waiter. I had to get the waiter's attention as he was retuning from serving another table to ask about the vegan options. He briefly turned around and said "I'll be back" - I wasn't sure if he had actually heard my request or was going to come back to deal with it. He seemed rushed, which can be forgiven during peak dinner service however, he came across cold and dismissive which didn't make me feel particularly welcome.
A couple of minutes later he returned with a modified menu with the non-vegan options crossed out in brio and a few 'off menu' vegan items scribbled on the bottom. While I respect there was an effort made by the kitchen to accommodate my dietary requirements I was let down by the way this information was presented to me. I thought this was rather poor considering we informed the restaurant weeks prior to our arrival.
Next we asked what we would like to drink. I have to compliment the restaurant for having an extensive wine selection but despite this, our waiter did not seem enthusiastic to recommend any of it to us. I asked if he could recommend a crisp dry white, to which I was greeted with 'All the white wines are dry.' There was no effort made to ask us what kind of wines we enjoy and overall felt very dismissed. With such a extensive selection I was hoping to try something new but instead ended we up getting a bottle of something we were familiar with. We would typically get at least 2 bottles of wine for our meal but were put off from the service we received.
We then went to order our food, it was not made clear to us whether they were small plates, individual meals or for sharing. One member of the party only ordered one item which was greeted by our waiter with "is that all? they are not very big" in a dismissive tone. He did say some of the dishes were more substantial, leaving us confused on the potion size and order of service.
Two of the five dishes we ordered arrived first which were the smaller plates of our order and could be considered a starter. We were expecting to receive the other dishes at the same time as this was not clearly explained to us. We shared the initial 2 plates between three of us and then waited another 15-20 mins before receiving the 'main' courses.
Now on to the food! The vegan dishes were tasty and well thought out. It was good to see effort has been put into the vegan dishes as in some restaurants they are very much an after thought. My only slight grievance was that one of the dishes was similarity priced to the meat equivalent which I don't think was justified by the ingredients it contained.
Unfortunately one member of party was disappointed with the pollock, which he considered under seasoned and bland. We were not able to inform the kitchen as our waiter did not come back to ask how our food was.
Despite this everyone enjoyed the other dishes we were served. To end we opted for a digestif rather than a desert and left shortly after.
To conclude, the food, location and atmosphere were commendable although the service was sub-par. I have received much better service at cheaper restaurants and never received such bad service from a Michelin stared establishment. The waiter made us feel unwelcome, was unhelpful, a bit rude and gave off an air of snobbery. While it's unfair to slate the entire restaurant due to our experience from one member of staff, I am reluctant to recommend if anyone receives the same level of service as we did.
Lovely wine bar
Lovely wine bar. Lunch menu is really well designed. Very sympathetic music. Good service
House wine delicious and a tiny bit complex.
Every dishes are well seasoned. It invites you to have a little sip of wine between bites, which is lovely.
The seasoning is greatly paired with the wine.
Prices are really decent but bear in mind we are talking about tapas portion size.
Friendly and professional service.
Trendy buzz, great food
The lunch special is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy beautifully prepared food at a ridiculously low price in a welcoming location.

We went to Leroy for dinner twice recently. Once with friends and once with family. The food is fantastic. Great flavours, simple dishes, brilliantly executed. Top ingredients cooked so well. The waiting staff were attentive but not fussy. The sommelier so knowledgeable. All the wines he suggested were perfect pairings to the delicious food. The room is great and the ambiance very chilled - loved the vinyl. We will definitely go back again soon.
