Les Deux Magots Paris Reviews from The Last Year

t's cold and rainy today, this is the best choice You can sit here and watch the sunset and the old architectural houses, drink a hot cup of coffee and watch people bustling back and forth on the street. . Show yourself the positive energy of life
Iconic cafe
There are indoor and outdoor (covered and uncovered) options and the staff was incredibly friendly and kind. Staff spoke at least French and English (unsure about other additional languages). Would definitely go again. Stopped for breakfast and got the Hemingway, which included picking an egg option, bread option, a juice option and hot beverage option. A separate bread basket came with breakfast as well. Yes, the cost is more than a typical cafe but the portions were large, particularly when including the bread basket, which was great and I was not hungry again until dinner.
Famous, historical bistro, but a bit hectic
We were created warmly and showed to a table in the covered outside area. It was a warm Friday lunchtime so it was very busy. Our waiter was chaotic and we struggled to keep him listening long enough to take all of our orders. Our food was ok but not great, for example the salad on the side of my pate en croute had no dressing or seasoning. I asked for some sauté potatoes to have alongside my cod main that would have just come with vegetables, and he brought it without any vegetables just potatoes. The patisserie tray came round for dessert and my friends enjoyed their pastries but they were not special and were €16 a pop! Overall it was ok but it was the most expensive meal we had while in Paris and as it was only lunchtime, we only had a little wine, so I found it overpriced
Beautiful Historic Cafe
This is a fantastic Case. The street has two next to each other but in my opinion this one is superior. The service is excellent. We sat for a couple of hours in the sun just having a few drinks. Simply did not want to leave.
Good but very expensive
Very nice place. Impeccable service especially on the terrace. However, the prices do not reflect the quality of the food: the cuisine rests on its laurels.
FRENCH FINANCE AND FRENCH FLAVORS IN THE HEART OF PARIS!
This wonderful cafe is in the heart of Paris with a wonderful classic atmosphere, perfectly qualified staff, always willing, helpful and welcoming! As for the variety of coffees, there is no comparison with other coffees in the same category, they are the best at Cafe Les Deux Magots and in a wide variety! And we move on to the delicious part of the coffee, what can I try all the dishes perfectly and with French finesse arranged visually and tastefully! As for the sweets, a wide range with French flavor and refinement, you don't know what to choose first and what to taste first, everything is wonderful! Definitely go to CAFE LES DEUX MAGOTS!
Historic
Historic Parisian café, very interesting especially for its famous past patrons. I had a delicious hot chocolate. I enjoyed going there!

Obviously I had to stop by here while in Paris because of its history and it did not let me down! You can tell it's touristy because of all the people who stop by the front and take photos on the place. In terms of the restaurant itself: The old-style hot chocolate was too rich and sweet for me but I had to try due to the rave. Either way, I'd say you should try it because it was pretty good. I highly recommend the Croque-Madam! It was the perfect mix of ham and cheese, even though you'd think it's so simple. The bread is so good!!! And the service was delightful.
Breakfasts
Very disappointing breakfasts. Omelette and cold bacon eggs. Even hot drinks were cold. Unripe fruit salad. Pleasant but overwhelmed server. Three breakfasts 100 euros. It's no longer the 2 hoards we knew.
Very Parisian and more literary café.
Very nice typical Parisian café with maximum crowds. Dinner was very good and very plentiful. Just one main course and dessert and you come out full. Wine at a reasonable price. I liked.
Iconic Paris Brasserie
4 out of 5 visits to Paris have brought me to Les Deux Magots. It never disappoints, and today was no exception! From our extremely friendly greeting by Hostess Lea to our service provided by Thomas F., the experience was what one expects from one of Paris’ top-notch iconic brasseries. We thoroughly enjoyed the foie gras paired with a Gewürztraminer, the rillettes d’oie and a classic croque monsieur. Thank you for another wonderful experience!
Leah, the wonderful young lady that seated us and dropped
Leah, the wonderful young lady that seated us and dropped by our table several times was lovely! We ordered burgers that were absolutely delicious. Our waiter, Julien, was great too. We enjoyed his efficient service, but enjoyed his sense of humor even more. We visit Les Deux Margots every time we visit the beautiful city of Paris.
Night cup in Paris.
A correct tarte tatin. An excellent armagnac. Good service. A table outside. Fresh air. Perfect for a nght cup. Don't miss after a delicious dinner.
Cafe Les deux Magots is very iconic.
The hot chocolate is amazing. Chocolate Croissants is great as well. I love the ambiance.
Put this cafe at the top of your itinerary!
Cafe Deux Magots is one of my wife’s favorite cafes in Paris. It is located in the beautiful 6th arrondissement and is charming beyond description. The waiters are attentive in that wonderful Parisian way that takes pride in their work and doesn’t rush you out the door. My wife speaks decent enough French to get by but the staff here is comfortable with English so there are no communication issues. We had a couple of wonderful breakfasts on this visit and will definitely be back. Enjoy!
Bad experience in Les deux Magots
Very very bad manners from the waiter. He kicked us out because kids didn't want something to drink!! He was so upset that he was collecting the tray very badly in front of us!Omg. It's somewhere we won't be going again and I don't recommend it to others!!!!!

Went to Les Deux Magots after seeing it featured in several travel shows in Paris. The food was delicious, greatly enjoyed my beef tartare. The service was good, but forgivable as they make the food fresh after each course so except to wait longer then usual if you are coming from the states. The restaurant also was busy so this wait is understandable. I enjoyed sitting in their main dining as it had a great atmosphere for good conversation and taking a rest from the busy city streets. Although the weather didn't call for it I'd recommend sitting outside as people watching during the day in that area seems appropriate. The staff reflected the high level of service of such a landmark establishment.

Our server was attentive, but the table was extremely cramped. We had a reservation but feel we were not given a preferred location. Prices are of course high and the people watching superb.
Skip it!
Despite an important literary pedigree, this restaurant has become a tourist trap. I ate here alone and was all but ignored by a rude staff who interacted with all patrons in the area where I was seated with disdain -- and made us wait long stretches between courses and to receive our checks, despite the fact that there were very few people in the resturant. The food was OK but not special, and was very expensive for what was served. I am a frequent repeating visitor to Paris for business and pleasure and tend to frequent out of the way small bistros run by owner/family/chefs. They deserve your business. Please look them up!
Great staff and food
Great food. Wonderful ambience. Touch of quirky history. Smile, try a speaking a little French and you will have great service. Don’t forget in France you have to ask for the check. Drinks and food - can’t go wrong.
Cute little spot for breakfast
We had this place on our list to try when vacationing in Paris, service and food were both great and a nice location to walk around.
bonjour mes amis mangeurs d'escargots ! How can one review
bonjour mes amis mangeurs d'escargots ! How can one review a place that has so much history, so much tourist appeal and well, simply ok yet pricey food to appease the large tourist following. Will keep this brief: the escargot and red wine were good. All other things were simply ok. One of those places that one visits twice (first and last time).
Just a wonderful environment.
Given it's status as an attraction the staff were quite friendly and accommodating of our general lack of French language skills (though we tried our best!). We were seated right away even in a busy season and day, which was appreciated. We mainly stopped in for tea and some snacks, so I don't have much to say on the food. Though the cheeses we had were quite lovely, large portions and a fair mix of varieties. I also enjoyed the teas and coffee we shared. It is very cool to be in a place so frequented by artists and historical figures, and that was the main draw for me here. I think it's a lovely space to stop - especially for tourists like us.
Quite touristy.
Food was decent. Service was equally mediocre. They ran out of two items at 8pm that I requested. After that I got a little annoyed and just settled on something off the menu that I had hoped they would have. My steak was good. We sat next to the opening in the floor that opened up to send down dirty dishes. The manager or someone was visibly nasty to one of the waitstaff who was busting her butt. A little put off by that too. Definitely better restaurants in all of Paris.
The service was great and very accommodating for english
The service was great and very accommodating for english speakers. The famous Paris hot chocolate was AMAZING! However i would warn it is very think and rich which is perfect but i would only order one for the table. The pastries and coffee were also very good. The restaurant is large but fills up fast so be prepared to wait if you get there at a busy time.
Wonderful view but service was unimpressive.
We were greeted promptly and seated almost immediately. Our waiter saw us three times: once to take the order, once to deliver, and once to provide the check after the manager asked how we were doing.
Bright and cheerful environment.
Staff is very professional without being stuffy. The hot chocolate I would like to take intravenously it's so wonderful. The croissant was flaky and luscious. I'll be going back tomorrow

Of course this is a tourist destination but you just have to. The food was good, not amazing but the service was great. A little more expensive than the cafe next door...
Was better the firsts time we went.
Good service. Food was cold and we all got sick from the not chocolate.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

I have a similar question, it seems like when money is refunded it doesnt go immediately what is the process of this since its essentially a debit card and not a credit card
