This is such a sweet and tender little spot.
I think it's become my favorite place for a romantic dinner. The restaurant is on a teeny tiny street off the main roads so it's lovely and quiet. You walk through the doors to find a beautifully done little place that is something like an updated art deco vibe. It's got just the right number of tables. Not too lonely/sad and not a loud cavernous location. It's just right. So well done. Now, the food. Every bite we tasted was just perfect. The flavors were spot on. The quantities were just right. The bubbles and the wine selection were lovely. Honestly. The best dinner we've had this visit. If you're looking for a charming, elegantly quiet gem come to Little Social. *the only and I mean ONLY area for improvement is the music. Yikes. Completely inconsistent with everything else about this sweet place. Por favor. Just a little attention to the music, just omit the music altogether or pass around cute ear plugs. ;--)

We had a perfect meal at Pollen Street, including the beef, fish entrees and the starters, the onion tart and langoustine. We had a very nice chocolate dessert. Service was excellent. Prices were fair and worth every pense.

The space is cozy, and the service is pretty on-point, but that's pretty much where the Michelin-star experience ends. While the menu boasts a heavy selection of wines and champagne, the quality isn't necessarily worth the price. As for the food menu, the prices are reminiscent of a 5-star restaurant, but the food itself tasted like it came from a brasserie. My 'The Zest Is History' cocktail was a simple mixture of lemon, vodka, and yuzu. While well-balanced, I'm not sure it was worth what I paid for it, as it wasn't the most unforgettable cocktail I've ever had. For my solids portion of the meal, I ordered some sourdough bread- it comes as a thick single slice- and the turkey with creamed brussel sprouts and potato purée. The turkey came in the form of a sausage, and the gravy they drowned it in was so salty, I could barely taste anything else. Seriously, that was some brasserie-quality cuisine, right there. For the three items I ordered it came to just above £50. I'm not one to put a price on good quality food, but I do hate paying for more than what I'm getting. It's an intimate space if you're just coming in for drinks, but if my experience is any indication of what the food is usually like, make sure you hydrate well before and after your meal.

On Christmas Eve, we ate at this cute restaurant tucked away on a side street just off of the busy and bustling Regent Street at the suggestion of our travel agent (who has eaten there many times).I was immediately impressed by the warm decor and excellent choice of alternative music (past and present) playing. The restaurant smelled lovely. Scents of spices permeated my nostrils and we received a warm welcome from our host. The menu had a diverse and interesting array of choices. I appreciated it because there were choices to appeal to both the adventurous and non adventurous palates. My partner and I opted for non adventurous-Caesar salad, beef tartare, burger and the mushroom risotto. All were excellent. My risotto was quite good. I savored every morsel. The focaccia bread they brought to the table was excellent.Where things went awry and really impacted my overall enjoyment of the restaurant was the inconsistent and disparate level of service we received once we were seated. Our primary server had a case of the grumpies (I suspect, because she was working on Christmas Eve) and it was a total clash to our jovial and festive mood. It was a bit of a buzzkill to be sure. In addition, drinks we ordered when our food arrived were forgotten about. We also noticed that some tables were receiving extra attention and care (including the couple who were seated next to us) by staff while others were not (there was a large table in the back who had to summon the waiter to get the check and I heard the customer say to the waiter "Did you forget about us?").Food and atmosphere are fantastic. Service was not and given the price points, it should have been better.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I ate at Little Social this evening.
The hostess and our server were good. I ordered the pork. I ate about 3 bites. My husband tried one but had to spit it out because it was too fatty. I tried my hardest to cut the fat off but couldn't get a bite without a significant amount of fat. The server kindly noticed when he took my plate. I told him that the pieces I ate were excellent but I had too much trouble cutting around the fat to really eat much of it. He must've told a manager who came over and said the chef was examining it. She asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. I really just wanted to leave at that point. We said no thank you. The server brought us our bill. We paid and left. As I walked out I felt very uncomfortable that they didn't apologize or mention what the chef felt. We are visiting London from out of town and this was our first meal. It was disappointing that it went poorly.

Anyone who has anything bad to say about the food here is a dead set hater! It is ABSOLUTELY phenomenal and I suggest making a reservation at the sister restaurants as well. We came here thinking nothing can top Social eating house (part of their group) and the food quality is exceptional and meets the same standards. The beet salad sounds simple but the flavours are like candy. I'll have to try and mimic that at home. I even asked for a main off the menu and they made it for me! IMPRESSIVE!!!! The apple tarte tatin was simply one of the best things I've ever consumed. EVER. Those apples were so soft that I thought it was bananas foster. WOW!!!!! Five star food! The only downside was our service. The food was so good I'm willing to over look it but it does need to be addressed. I don't think I'm very hard to understand but from our experience, a lot of the wait staff we came in contact with have a hard time speaking and/or understanding English. With several servers, you just kinda hoped they got your order right. We had two drinks that were not what we ordered and since we didn't drink it, they never offered to replace it but oh well. We still paid for it anyway and just ordered something else. Questions about the menu were challenging so you give up and pick something. I feel bad mentioning that but considering our whacked on gratuity is over 20 pounds, I would expect a little bit more.

We went there quite a while back, and I was blown away by the outstanding service we received. We were seated right away (party of 4) and we're instantly treated to champagne by our sommelier. We had several courses, each of which was better than the last, and the wine pairings were apt.We finished with desert and desert wine - the apple tarte tatin was incredible. We were able to meet the Head Chef, and it was a pleasure. I can't wait to go back here!!

I went for lunch on a Monday and got the burger, which was really really delicious. The service was also exceptional, tucked on a quieter street, the decor and ambiance is lovely and upscale. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
Be the first to ReplyGood food - French/italian restaurant.
French prices and italian food. But not that expensive, it's well worth it. From the starters to the mains and even the french burgers. - and a nice ketel one vodka cocktail to go with. :)

Really delicious French food, slightly on the pricey side but everything is executed really well. I've had dinner once with the girls and booked the area round the back, cosy for a group of 8 but such a lovely spread of steaks and French bistro dishes. I came for lunch a month ago and has some delicious oysters with half lobster and fries. The portion wasn't huge but we did leave very filled to the brim. Service is impeccable.

When I take my mother to visit my brother in the capital he has the unenviable task of deciding where to take her for lunch in the city (fussy is an understatement). After a successful trip to French restaurant Brasserie Zédel earlier in the year, he decided to stay with the French theme and booked a table at Jason Atherton's Little Social.Little Social (as well as it's bigger, Michelin-starred older brother) is located on Pollen Street in Mayfair, and like you would expect from a Jason Atherton venture the outside is understated but sophisticated. The interior decor, however, is slightly less understated (though no less elegant). Ox-blood banquettes, dark wooden chairs and tables, vintage pictures, and map adorned walls are the order of the day. The website states that the food is a nod towards French plates, but using the best of British produce. The decor, however, could only have been more French if Juliette Binoche had taken our order, and Vincent Cassel had poured the wine.We decided to order from the prix fixe menu (2 courses for £21 or 3 courses for £25) as my mum was paying and it would have been poor form to make her pay for 3 courses from the a la carte menu.A basket of bread was placed on the table for us to nibble on whilst examining the menu. Three sourdough slices were earthy, doughy and delicious, and the baguette even better. The smoked and generously salted butter was also perfect. To begin I decided to order the violino pumpkin soup, slow-cooked egg, pepper cured bacon, parmesan, girolles, and croutons. The pumpkin liquid perfectly sweet and seasoned; the croutons adding a lovely crunch; the peppery bacon was a salty chewy delight, and the slow-cooked egg added richness. The girolles were the only slight disappointment as they were lost in the other flavours and didn't seem to offer anything apart from a slightly different texture.I had both heard exceptional things about the burger from Little Social, so upon seeing it on the prix fixe menu my mind was made up. Often, when you build up something in your mind the reality is a colossal disappointment, this wasn't the case. The burger was served with french fries (obviously), a garden salad, and on a beautifully bouncy toasted sesame seed bun.The French fries were acceptable; crisp and golden on the outside, fluffy and flavoursome in the middle, however given the level of cooking on show in the starters they felt a little...meh. Although this could be due to the fact that I now struggle to eat any chips that are not cooked in truffle oil and served with parmesan!Luckily, however, the patty was as good as it gets. The pink minced meat was cooked without fault and was full of flavour with subtle herb additions. Additionally, the accompaniments (pickle, mild cheddar, smokey streaked bacon, and caramalised onions) worked in perfect harmony. To finish I ordered the cheese selection that comprised of Vacherin Mont-d'Or, Stichelton and Comté. This was a delicious selection of cheeses, and the accompanying fig chutney was particularly pleasant, but when the desserts arrived I suffered from enormous food envy at what everyone else on the table had ordered.Pretty much everyone else on the table ordered the maple glazed, apple filled doughnuts, cinnamon sugar and Crème Anglaise. When they arrived I couldnt believe I hadn't ordered them. Fortunately, my mother's appetitie isnt quite what it used to be so I managed to bag myself one.The amply sized square doughnuts were covered with a sticky sweet maple glaze and were accompanied by a pot of cinnamon sugar and Crème Anglaise. On their own the doughnuts were good, but when dipped in the two pots they were elevated to a whole new level of sweet and creamy dessert heaven. The apple in the middle of the doughnuts provided the necessary sharpness to balance out the sugar and custard. Despite their size, I could easily have eaten a whole bag of them.To accompany the meal we ordered the Pollen Street Social Sélection, from Anjou in the Loire Valley, which the whole table drank with gusto despite our 1pm booking! There is no reason I can think of not to visit Little Social if you're in the city; good food and expertly chosen wine at terrific value with excellent and attentive service (they were especially good at accommodating my 2-year-old niece). This is an extremely well run and well thought out operation that knows exactly what it's doing, and does it with consummate skill and ease. Bravo!
