I loved the food at Luizza's, which offers both traditional and unique NOLA dishes with hearty portions and robust flavors. The seating inside is limited, and it's a popular lunch spot, so expect to wait outside for a while before getting seated. The prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and the service is friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The BBQ shrimp po' boy is unique--hollowed-out bread soaked in a flavorful, soupy sauce, topped with tender sautéed shrimp. It was delicious. The bread was heavenly when soaked in the sauce. And, of course, the creole gumbo was a delicious classic. Highly recommend!

Super tasty bloody Mary's with picketed okra and string beans and olives. Enjoyed these a few mornings in a row before Jazz Fest. It appears to be a thing!
Be the first to ReplyI loved this restaurant.
The ambience was great; very retro. I ordered the 1/2 Meat PoBoy with a cup of gumbo. I had a chicken poboy. The sandwich and the gumbo was delicious. The service was very friendly.

Friendly staff, easy vibe, tasty food! Fried Oyster and shrimp po boys and drinks during Jazzfest.
Be the first to ReplyThe gumbo was horrible.
It tasted like dishwater. It had shrimp that was thrown in at the end after the gumbo was heated. Just not good at all.
Be the first to ReplyWent here today for lunch.
It was packed but we didn't have to wait too long for a table. Our waitress was happy and wonderful. When it comes to the food it was just ok. The gumbo was terribly over power with file. I couldn't eat it.

We weren't sure what to expect knowing that Liuzza's has changed management, however, it was just the same as our last visit, absolutely wonderful! It's a neat for lack of a better word neighborhood restaurant and bar. We had the golden beet salad, a fully dressed eggplant po boy, the best onion rings, and the star of the show: the icy cold schooner of Amber. We got there half an hour before the closing and our server took our order quickly but encouraged us to relax and enjoy our meal. I am looking forward to my next visit!

One of the salads and the fries might be vegan and fairly limited choices for vegetarians overall. We decided not to ask questions and got fried okra and fried eggplant. The okra was delicious. I really liked the dill sauce that came with it. The eggplant probably could have been cooked longer. The batter still felt a little liquidy. Our friends loved their BBQ shrimp po boy. Service was great.

Ordered items as main courses, instead of their usual sandwiches, since I can't eat bread. We got huge portions of scrumptious food. Consider splitting main courses!

We were welcomed even we made it nick of time before closing. We ordered Special Fried Oysters, Shrimps & Beignet and Sandwich/Soup (Shrimp Po'Boy and Gumbo). Blue Hurricanes! Did not disappoint. Cozy interior dining!

Stopped in for lunch as I was watching racing at Fairgrounds, the service was prompt and friendly. Started with the gumbo, by far the best I've ever had, an incredible blend of flavors. Then ordered the BBQ shrimp Po Boy, one of the best things I've ever eaten, the roll was outstanding, the shrimp prepared perfectly and the combination of flavors was mouth watering, I will be back!

We drove around looking for some delicious New Orleans flavors and this one had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. Food and service was alike and lack the ambiance we expected especially where the locals go.

4.5 stars! A homey restaurant located in a residential neighborhood and a few other restaurants. I came in on a weekday lunch and they were full. Although they have other tempting items on the menu in terms of po'boys, I got the bbq shrimp one as it is their signature dish. Surprisingly enough, it's actually not bbq sauce but their own concoction of this thick peppery, garlicky, and buttery sauce that you would want to finish clean with the baguette. The serving was enormous for one person! It came in piping hot, fragrant, and it was definitely delicious. If you're skeptic about sautéed shrimp for your po'boys instead of deep fried like I was, this was such a good risk I happy I took. The shrimp was buttery, soft, & perfectly cooked. The dish cost about $18 and I highly recommend.

Be the first to ReplyCute little place we found when searching for a dinner spot.
I had an oyster po boy- really yummy. My husband had the pastrami po boy - also delicious. Service was fast and portions were huge. Also had the fried pickled okra, we loved them. Looked like a special menu item , maybe not served everyday?

This hidden gem boasts an unassuming hole-in-the-wall atmosphere that belies the deliciousness that awaits you.One standout dish you must try is the shrimp salad dip with fried wonton - it's a true delight for your taste buds! The combination of the creamy shrimp salad with the crispy wonton is simply divine. If you're a fan of BBQ shrimp, the sandwich here is a must-try. The sauce is perfectly balanced and the shrimp is cooked to perfection. And of course, the fried shrimp platter is a classic that never fails atomsphere. The service is friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. But it's the food that really sets Liuzza by the Track apart - the flavors are out of this world and the portions are generous.Overall, if you're looking for a casual, unpretentious spot to enjoy some amazing seafood in New Orleans, Liuzza by the Track is a must-visit. BBQ SHRIMP PO BOY!!! Get it, you won't be disappointed! Crawfish étouffe also delicious!!! Their gumbo wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad either, the other two dishes just way outshined it.

If you're looking for quality, refined creole food without the fine dining prices, this is the place. The gumbo was a more delicate, textured flavor than expected. It was obvious this is not a haphazard kitchen; the chefs take care of their ingredients. The BBQ shrimp po' boy was simultaneously basic and rich. It's butter sauce speaks for itself. The catfish was maybe my least favorite. Not that it wasn't good, it just wasn't as special as the other dishes I tried. All in all, I'd gladly take my friends here. It had the neighborly atmosphere of a corner diner and the culinary care of a bib gourmand.
Be the first to ReplyThe most amazing I boy and gumbo we have had in NOLA.
Just be prepared that the barbeque shrimp is not what you might think...but better than you've ever had.

Liuzza's is doing bbq shrimp right! No idea whats in that sauce but its ohhhh so good! Love that it isn't fried like most poboy shrimp is. Must try!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is legit.
Just about a mile walk from City Park on beautiful tree-lined Esplanade St. Casual spot, but delicious, reasonably priced food and drinks. Had their famous garlicky fried oyster po' boy, dressed (lettuce, tomato, light Mayo) - delicious; soft crunchy bread, crispy oysters. And bowl of gumbo w/ tasty sausage, chicken and shrimp. The crawfish ettoufe looked great, too. Bloody Mary's were awesome, w/ spicy green Ben's and little olives (just $7.50 each) and $4 Anita and Paradise local beer.
Be the first to ReplyA solid meal and nice people.
The gumbo was above average, as were the fried tomatoes. The fried oysters were average. If you're in the neighborhood it's a good place to stop and have a beer or sandwich.
