Tepid greetings from a side-eye-giving hostess start the evening here. Don't go into hospitality if you don't want to be hospitable to the people patronizing a business. Period. Our server was much friendlier, though, which was a big relief. She was helpful and attentive throughout. We tried the pork belly, escargot, frog legs and duck l'orange, and had the mint mules to drink. The drinks were a fantastic non-alcoholic option for us. Too many mocktails rely solely on sugar to pass by, but these didn't. The flavor was interesting and sharp. A+The pork belly and escargot were the clear winners of the night. Whatever sauce is on that belly is absolute fire. The frog legs were just okay and tasted like nothing more than bland, tiny fried chicken. Do NOT order the duck l'orange. I took one bite and almost considered sending it back. First mistake, they GROUND the duck and pressed it into a meatball, rendering it indistinguishable from ground turkey. Unfortunately, that decision was not described on the menu so I felt seriously misled. Such a massive shame. It was so salty that I almost choked. I am not exaggerating--the amount of salt in this dish produced an involuntary physical rejection. The price tag on this dish is abhorrent considering what you get in return. The tables are extra tiny here as well, so it was a constant struggle to move dishes around and find room for everything. This place is a pass for me. Do better, Maison Yaki.
