😍 5/5 - We missed getting a reservation the first time we were on

We missed getting a reservation the first time we were on Maui, so we made sure to book months in advance before our last trip - even three months out, all the prime dinner spots were booked, but we were able to get a 2:30 reservation which ended up working out perfectly for our 7:55 flight. If you are looking for a speedy, inexpensive meal, definitely don't come here because this is not the place to get in and out in under an hour. But if you are looking for an experience with good food to celebrate something special while you're visiting Maui, this place will suit your needs! Driving into the gorgeous property, the first thing you notice is a busy parking lot. Luckily everything is valet parking only with no ability to self-park, so you join the queue and get greeted by an attendant decently quickly upon your arrival. The hostess took the name for our reservation and told us to sit until our table was available. For our 2:30 reservation we were seated around 2:37, so pretty much on time. We were taken to our table which had a personalized card with our names and a "happy anniversary" note on it, which is a nice touch. I will say, it took a while for our waiter to come around, but this was an anomaly as I would say the beginning was the only time we had to wait for service. Prior to our waiter coming, we were brought waters from another waitstaff almost immediately. When our waiter finally came around, he introduced himself, welcomed us to the restaurant, and wished us a happy anniversary. Then he listed off the specials and asked if we wanted any appetizers or drinks. As two non-drinkers, we both ordered POG juice (not on the menu) and my partner ordered the Ahi Poisson Cru. We were shortly after brought freshly baked bread, which was delicious, a small dish of pickles for me, the vegetarian, and a small cup of broccolini bisque for the non-vegetarian. As a vegetarian I had checked reviews about vege options ahead of time and was just expecting to be able to eat the curry, but was pleasantly surprised when our waiter said I could get the first five things on the menu made vege with tofu. I did, however, settle for the banana curry. It was delicious and very filling, and I especially loved the mango chutney, apple bananas, mac nuts, and sambal that accompanied my dish. Mama's definitely has it nailed in terms of the presentation of their dishes - everything was beautiful! My partner got the mahi-mahi sauteed with waihe'e tomato, capers, and olena risotto and thought it was very tasty. He did note that the mahi mahi portion he got at Paia Fish Market earlier in the trip was bigger, but said they were both tasty. We couldn't leave Mama's without also trying their banana macadamia nut crisp with vanilla ice cream. The crisp was delicious. They also brought us some kind of fruit jelly dessert for our anniversary on the house, which was also tasty. Prior to receiving our bill, we were brought almond scented warm towels to wash our hands. They smelled lovely. Even as non-drinkers and one non-seafood eater (my vege dish cost ~ $20 less than the dishes listed on the menu), our bill was still around $200. We were expecting it, but just want to call it out. We were very happy we checked this place out, but given the price and the overall hassle of having to plan ahead months in advance, it's probably not a place we need to come back to. My only gripe is that for the business of the restaurant and the number of customers they have, they have very limited restroom facilities which is a bit of a nuisance. TL;DR - If you're looking for a lovely place to eat delicious food while you're on Maui, check out Mama's. The property is beautiful with a gorgeous protected cove/beach.
