High tea
Wow, what a lovely place. Came for high tea. Warmly welcomed, prompt service, food well presented and very tasty. Staff attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

The Australia Day buffet that we attended today was a real disappointment. Having heard so many good stories about the food and attention to detail for this particular occasion and having dined there before, our expectations were for a quality meal.
The first issue we found was that our table had not been cleaned and had pepper scattered over it. A waitress wiped it down some time after we had pointed it out. Eventually after some time we were given glasses of water and an order taken for drinks.
The meal itself was quite ordinary. Typical fare of many hotel buffets in quantity and quality. Roast pork (tender and tasty) roast lamb (tough both to cut and to eat) , a basic Caesar salad, pear salad , carrot salad and green salad. Gnocchi (quite tasty but gluggy), roast potatoes, sausages, party pies, roast pumpkin, peas and beans, cauliflower and broccoli. One senior staff member showed his professionalism by locating gravy for me and bringing my meal to the table.
Sweets were good, A variety of small lemon tarts, pavlovas, cheesecake bites, ice cream, sorbet and make your own pancakes.
It was only towards the end of our meal that any attempt was made to refill water glasses.
The soap dispenser in the bathroom had not been refilled , apparently from at least Wednesday.
Comments from other guests, not from our group, were indicative of a drop in quality of food and some staff lacked attention to detail and customer service.
Top Class, great atmosphere
We booked a table last Saturday night in the Members Dining Room, expecting a passable meal, but what a surprise! This venue is a hidden gem in Melbourne. Excellent food, great wine list, impeccable service, fabulous music and generally a wonderful atmosphere. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant. Congratulations to Simon & staff. We will be back!

The RACV Club is for members and their guests but has a welcoming feel. The dining room has excellent food and service and a huge wine list.

Service is very good. the food is okay and the overall ambiance is quite good. A nice place to dine and the environment is conducive to business friendly environment. Will be visiting again quite soon.

As a guest of the RACV Club I recently dined in the Members' Dining Room. Food was great and they had a lovely selection of wines available. I'd highly recommend this restaurant

We had lunch in this dining room, because one of our friends as a member of club invited us there. Service was incredibly professional. Food was delicious. I had soft shell crab for entree and eggplant with feta dish for main. Desert was also good.

The idea of a dinner at the RACV Club did not appeal at all as I had only ever been to the RACV for functions which at best, were all fairly ordinary. However, a birthday dinner was arranged by friends at the members' dining room and I was genuinely surprised by the setting, the service and the food. The dining room has a charming "old Melbourne" ambience and the staff are attentive without being obtrusive. The menu is modern Australian centred on local, fresh produce and is accompanied by a very extensive wine list. It is relatively expensive (entrees around $20 and mains $40+) but well worth it. All in all, a surprisingly good venue.

I had the good fortune to be able to secure a window table overlooking the atrium for myself and my partner at the Dining Room and what a feast it was! As we were seated my partner was presented with a rose, and two glasses of pink Domaine Chandon swiftly were poured, which were very welcome after a long day.
Then followed a most elegant meal served to us by David, who is the most accomplished waiter known. The dessert was a triumph to behold. The service here is simply fantastic and my partner said it was a one of the most beautiful nights that she had ever enjoyed.
Ongoing meeting
Has its moments. Non drinkers in these sorts of places tend to see through a few joins... let alone non drinkers aware of what to expect seeing between gaps. Obviously a lot about the club that is consistent and reassuring in its quality and delivery. Prefer budgeting to here than MCC. Gave the MCC the Tijuana years ago and much happier with what I get from here and the footy club.
One consistently selfish practice is members coming in alone and taking up a 4 seat space for themselves and not even venturing eye contact with a group of 3 or 4 looking for space. We would've got caned at school for that level of idiocy (refusal to participate in democracy). Maybe they're too important, skim reading, in front of the magical double ended candles I love to gaze into. Well now I realize that I been hypnotized...
