Mister Charles Dallas Reviews from The Last Year
What a fabulous restaurant! Ambiance is lovely, service
What a fabulous restaurant! Ambiance is lovely, service impeccable, food & drink top notch! We will definitely return & bring friends & family. Thanks to our staff for a welcoming & enjoyable experience.
i am an overall a fan of all the charles group restaurants.
they are all very classy + chic places to be. and mr. charles is no exception. the staff were incredible. not a single complaint. from the time i arrived to time i departed, the staff definitely knows how to make you feel welcomed without smothering you. if you plan on stopping in on the weekend, i definitely suggest a reservation. i cant remember the name of my dishes, but they were nothing short of amazing. everything tasted fresh and delightfully balanced. to be honest, i would suggest closing your eyes and just allowing the universe to choose, because no matter what you order.. im sure it will be exceptional! please keep in mind, i am primarily plant based, but enjoy pescatarian dishes from time to time. therefore, i can't speak to the four legged meats, but i am sure they are wonderful too. if you have never been to any of the restaurants that are a part of the charles group, i would suggest putting them on your list and making your way through them. your taste buds will thank me
Phenomenal experience.
The food is something I've not experienced before and changed my life
Upscale, chic, and perfectly located in the Knox area.
The theme is heaven & hell. I prefer the hell side with its darker finishes and tucked away 4 seater bar. The heaven portion is bright and marvelously decorated. Drinks are good, the bartenders are knowledgeable. Canapés and appetizers are the forté. In fact I prefer to have drinks and bites here more than entrees. The entrees are good but not great. The Dover sole was my favorite originally but the sauce they pour over it has changed. The wagyu Wellington is very good but serves 3 people easily. Rather pricey so don't be surprised when you see the bill. As far as the scene, Chaz always seems to capture that vibe. It belongs at number 1 for a decadent night out.
good unique food! recommend the corn truffle beignets!
good unique food! recommend the corn truffle beignets! service was amazing and the vibe of the restaurant was wonderful
Good, not great, poor value.
Pros and cons, but given the hype and the cost, a disappointment. Our table was not ready on arrival so they escorted our party of four to the back room to awkwardly stand among those with tables. We were seated about fifteen minutes later. The server and other staff were nice and attentive. The food we ordered ranged from fair to very good. Ok butter lettuce salad, baked okra and fried potatoes. Disappointing baked chicken. Very good lemon gnudi which was the only memorable dish but consisted of six very small dumplings about the size of grapes. Good but rich focaccia which seemed to be mostly cheese with a very thin layer of something resembling soggy pie crust. So overall good but not great food. We didn’t appreciate the noise level with fairly loud music being played and the dining room so packed. We had to raise our voices to about a 7 to be heard across the table. Nice, interesting, eclectic atmosphere. We shared plates, did not order any of their pricier entrees like steaks, did not have dessert and shared a bottle of one of their most reasonably priced wine. Bill was about $350 including tip. I imagine the average diner spends over $100. There are many other Dallas restaurants in this price range that we would prefer so will probably not return.
As other reviews have reported, Mister Charles is luxurious
As other reviews have reported, Mister Charles is luxurious and sophisticated. The high ceilings, chandeliers and black and white tile make this a memorable and picture worthy site. Also the service is above and beyond. We started with the Prime Rib Carpaccio. The beef was rich, tender and sliced paper thin. One of our servers brought over thick pieces of buttery focaccia-delicious! I had the Uni Shells Carbonara with pancetta as my entree. The first few bites were nice-pasta cooked al dente, creamy and peppery sauce, perfectly chewy pancetta. The next couple of bites, sadly, were oily and buttery. I brought the leftovers home, and although I LOVE leftovers, I couldn't eat this because it twas overly rich. Husband had the special-swordfish with tandoori spices. No, there was not any heat. No, the flavor was bland. Yes, he was disappointed. So the last reason for this glamorous restaurant with outstanding service to receive 4 instead of 5 stars is this: upon making reservations, my hub was asked if we were celebrating. Yes, he replied, wife's birthday. Yes, our waitress did wish me happy birthday-very sweet, however no, the restaurant did not bring a complimentary dessert. Okay, I'm really not a brat. I don't care because I don't want attention! Just saying that when a restaurant asks if it's a special occasion, and then does not offer even a morsel of something, then don't bother asking!
Wonderful experience ! Food was superb ! Yuri and Jerri
Wonderful experience ! Food was superb ! Yuri and Jerri were amazing - great recommendations all evening and made the dining experience excellent !10/10 experience - we will def be back :)
Honestly, it was underwhelming.
I felt honestly that there was a disparity between the cost and the quality. A $300 meal for two, especially in the case of a special occasion like ours was last evening, typically garners a little more celebratory effort from the establishment. Other $$$$ venues where we have dined for special occasions have sent out a taste of sparkling wine, or a simple complimentary dessert or canapé, etc, to promote the celebration. There was no special/complimentary anything from MC. They did kindly tell my guest Happy Birthday. Generally though, occasion aside, I felt MC was lacking the special touches. A meal in this price category typically has a few surprises sent from the kitchen or at least a parting gift to seal the experience (e.g., two other spots in Dallas send patrons with a petit four, or a tiny vial of herbs, or a chocolate, upon departure.) Again, for the price, it just wasn't very special. Finally, the food was not as expected for the price. My $38 crab cake was a good size but made of filler and stringy claw meat--confusing for the caliber of restaurant (see pic.) Their take on a Caesar was not thoughtful in its presentation. It is essentially 3-4 miniature hearts of romaine still intact, with a sort of anchovy relish spooned over them. It's difficult to eat, not delicious, and overpriced for the lack of effort. I understand their intention for ingenuity but in my opinion, it flopped on that one. People's dollars don't have the power they used to, so spending this kind of money on a meal should not feel regretful. There are lots of other establishments in the area where I know that the meal is a worthy investment of my limited resources. Unfortunately, I left feeling unenthused, unimpressed and like it should have been about $100 cheaper than it was. Please note that the restaurant is gorgeous and lacks nothing by way of ambiance.
We've been a fan of all the Duro spots.
Charles, Sister, El Carlos Elegante, etc. We saved Mister Charles for a special occasion, our 15 year anniversary. We had high expectations and I'm happy to say they delivered. We had an 8pm reservation on a Friday night. We arrived a few minutes after 8 and our table wasn't ready so we found a great spot at the heaven side bar (there are 2 sides - one with white decor, called heaven and one with dark decor called hell). Both were super cool. We had a couple of cocktails at the bar (the root beer old fashioned and the air mail). Both were delicious. Upon being seated we were greeted by our server and she was great. We got the A5 canapés, the crab cake, and the tuna crudo as apps. All were super tasty and delicious. We then had the mashed potatoes, the surf & turf, the swordfish, and the spicy pasta. The only small hiccup was that all our food came out but the pasta didn't. We were expecting the pasta to come out right after the apps but it never did. We reminded our server and she brought it out pretty quick. She also didn't ask how I wanted the steak cook but I told her medium rare anyways. Everything was amazing. All the food was perfectly prepared and we enjoyed every bite. We also got the table side sundae, the chocolate dessert, and they compd us a cookie type dessert too. I can honestly say the food and service was great. I had high expectations and I can honestly say Mister Charles delivered.
Take a step back in time for elegant dining! Spectacular
Take a step back in time for elegant dining! Spectacular starters, entrees and desserts with exceptional service!
Enjoyable
First of all this is a very different, very eclectic take on Italian cuisine. There is some pasta with shrimp (very good) and fig/burrata salad (good) with a chicken dish (fairly smoky) and very good okra (hardly Italian). It is a “shared plate” menu, not my favorite. Waitstaff was good, wine by the glass a bit limited, overall menu a bit limited, and no comment on desert as we had none. Conversation a bit tough as very loud. Good for an occasional visit, but for me not a “go to” place.

Mister Charles is a gastronomic haven that seamlessly blends modern sophistication with warm, inviting vibes. From the moment you step inside, the unassuming facade gives way to an ambiance that leaves you pleasantly surprised.
Food: we genuinely enjoyed everything that we ordered.
The canapés and small dishes were the highlight! Ribeye was ok but not worth it for the price point, I would say. It's huge but we couldn't eat more than a couple slices. We had the pleasure of enjoying the grilled cheese canapé and it really stood out to be one of our favorite dishes, here. The truffle was chef's kiss. A5 striploin was also out of this world. Mister Charles really did get it right with the flavors on their apps. Uni carbonara was a fun dish but would probably pass next time. Service: our server was amazing! Everything was coursed out perfectly and she was so on top of everything. Ambiance: we got sat in the bar area which we did not mind at all! The sunset lighting coming from the tall windows was so romantic.
EVERYTHING YOU HEARD!
If you’ve heard of, or been referred to The Charles and comments include, beautiful, amazing service or exquisite cusine; They’re all true! Hands down, one of the best dining experiences I’ve enjoyed in Dallas, and I’ve enjoyed many amazing places. From the moment you arrive to Valet, and the hostess, you’re greeted with the warmest of greetings. You’ll appreciate the teamwork every member of the staff, right to the GM, exude, to assure your experience is amazing. Our server Austin was so knowledgeable and warm, our time passed far too quickly. The Charles enjoys a diverse clientele, both in demographic and attire. The eclectic dining area with its open kitchen and stylish bar are petite in size, arousing memories of the ambiance of fine dining cars of luxury railways. Not to be outdone, they’ve even managed to incorporate through the kitchen, a speakeasy (Bar Charles) that elevates the vibe of the night, while maintaining the same amazing service, and dining experience. You can always visit for cocktails, however, If you’re on a tight budget, the full Charles experience may be one you’ll save for a special occasion; it will be so worth it. I look forward to seeing there soon! Xoxo Lorenzo
Overall I had a great experience in Mister Charles! At
Overall I had a great experience in Mister Charles! At first our experience was a bit odd because a 2-person party was seated before us when they arrived after us at a 6-person table which is the number of people in our group. We were later seated and the ordering process and everything went very smoothly. The food was delicious! I had the chicken dish and it was wonderful - I would definitely get it again! My friend ordered the venison and it was not as well done as she preferred so the staff made sure to adjust it to her liking and were very kind throughout the processes. The decor was BEAUTIFUL! It is so unassuming at first, just on the Knox Henderson street but when you enter it feels super luxurious - I will definitely be going back!
Duro has done it again.
Skeptical of all the hype, we got a last minute reservation here the day my husband passed his real estate exam and we were truly blown away. Mister Charles must have worked out their early day kinks because we experienced 5 star service and amazing food. From the knowledgeable bar tender, to the choice of a white or black napkin at seating (such an old world touch) to the comped dessert for our celebration, this was truly an experience. We started with canapés (1 oyster and 1 salmon) that were the perfect first bite. Then blue fine crudo (delicious though if we're being picky the cuts could have been more consistent) and the corn truffle beignets (to die for) for apps. We split the uni butter carbonara and lamb Wellington for dinner. While carbonara is usually our favorite dish, it was the Wellington that we agreed cannot be missed. Cooked perfectly and accented with foie Gras, this was worth the $90 price tag. Finally we had the backed Alaska and chocolate ganache for desert. Dazzling and delicious. The dining room is well known to be decadent and reservations hard to get, but if you can get in, this one was worth the $$$$.
My Thai crudo appetizer was very good.
Very fresh and flavorful. We ordered a pasta carbonara with uni and was delicious. I ordered the scallops which were good nothing to write home about. My husband's filet mignon was good not extraordinary for the price. The biggest disappointment for this type of restaurant was that they brought the pasta and entres at the same time . I don't mind the prices if the food quality matches them.

Ugh, I want to rave about this place, but it was OK and we really hoped it'd be better. The service from the waiter was fine, but the sommelier was so great and I loved the massive wine list. The food was just fine, but not at the level I'd have expected from the reputation and price. The carpaccio was great, the uni carbonara pasta was good , but the lamb Wellington was dry, tough, and flavorless. The ratatouille was bad, mushy yet toothsome ruined by an overabundance of bell peppers. Same goes for the gummy mashed potatoes. I wanted to mention something, but no one came by for so long it ultimately wasn't worth it. I will say the beautiful atmosphere was nice, but I really doubt we'll be back.

Mister Charles is one of the latest additions to the newly built Weirs tower in the Knox Henderson area. The restaurant boasts a light and dark theme, with the light side houses in the old Highland Park Pharmacy building. The developers elected to keep the outside facade the same, paying homage to the once-great business. Nostalgia is another factor, evident in the specialty drink, the Highland Park Penicillin. We secured a highly coveted and limited reservation as we were eager to give this restaurant a try. Upon the first impression, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and the wait staff were initially very friendly. The menu is not expansive, but it offers a variety of European-themed dished with a modern flair. To start, we ordered the grilled cheese with truffled cheddar and proscuitto and A5 strip, brioche, and wasabi. While visually appealing, the portions were disappointingly small, no larger than a stick of gum. Despite being flavorful, the size was a bit extreme, even for canapés. Our appetizer, the corn and truffle beignets with chive creme Fraiche, a reportedly popular menu item, also suffered from a serving size that seemed minuscule, especially considering the price. Moving on to the entrees, we opted for the spicy lumache arrabbiata with broccolini and tomato and the whole dover sole with meunière sauce. We added the pommes aligoté on the side. The dover sole had a lovely presentation, and the quality and flavor were commendable, complemented by the light yet filling pommes aligoté. Unfortunately, the spicy lumache arrabbiata was lackluster, with minimal pasta and an excess of what seemed like filler, possibly the broccolini. Towards the end of our meal, we felt a bit rushed by the wait staff, despite still enjoying our bottle of wine. This was a turn-off, considering we hadn't been at our table for more than an hour and we were simply trying to savor our wine. In summary, our experience at Mister Charles left us glad we had the opportunity to try it, but we were disappointed in the pricing versus the portion sizes. The service was good until the end when we felt rushed while enjoying our wine. I'm uncertain if I would casually return, but I would recommend that Duro Hospitality considers portion sizing when pricing their menu.

Came on a Monday holiday night and was pretty busy - definitely need to make a reservation here before coming. We've been to all the restaurants in the duro hospitality group as we've enjoyed our meal at all our other locations. Hearing that this was their highest end restaurant we were excited to come try. However, we were both a bit disappointed at the quality of food. We ordered the crab cake as a starter which was delicious along with scallops, duck pasta, Texas strip steak and two sides (broccolini and cream spinach). The steak and two sides were so salty that my mouth burned after for an hour after eating it and chugging water. While the other dishes and overall dinner good, I expected more from the restaurant. The ambiance is beautiful and I would be willing to come back to give it a try if the food wasn't as salty. I would recommend The Charles and Sister over Mister Charles out of the Duro group restaurants.

I see why it is so hard to get into this place! I usually make reservations way in advance, but I only had 3 weeks until my Dallas trip and there were no reservations for a party of 2 on a Saturday to be had. I kept checking everyday the week of and luckily I have Global Access on Resy so I setup a notification. On the morning of, I was notified of availability! My persistence paid off and it was well worth the effort. When you enter you are immediately taken in by the beautiful renaissance decor, the flowers , the vibe and the music! What I also did not know is that they have a dark side and a white side. After taking our tour with one of the hostesses, she explained to us that it's a play on the two owners as one is quiet and reserved while the other is light, fun and bubbly. The sides have been dubbed the devil and the angel. If you are on a date, I think the devil (dark) side is appropriate. Due to the fact that I was with a girlfriend, we requested the angel (light) side and were accommodated thanks to Tammy. Speaking of the staff, they were wonderful and it is obvious that management takes a lot of pride in making sure that they were trained well. Yann was our waiter and was very attentive throughout our dining experience. We started with Airmail drinks which is a nice rendition of the French 75. For apps, we had the tuna crudo and corn beignets that were both excellent. If I had to choose between the two, the tuna crudo would be my pick. For our main meal, we split the carbonara with added shaved truffles as well as a side of the pommes aligote. Our main meal was incredible but sadly, we were too stuffed to order dessert. I will definitely be back and will make sure to not only try the dover sole, but also save room for dessert.

From the interior to the service this place is absolutely amazing. Kytzia was our server and from the time we walked in and until the time we grabbed our coats to leave she was very sweet and attentive. The truffle pasta and grilled cheese bites were delicious, I will definitely come back for that. The steak was cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes on the side were cheesy and great to share. Prices are as expected for this style of dining but worth every penny.
Great, romantic place
This restaurant was extremely accommodating when we were seated next to the front door. It was our anniversary so it wasn't an optimum location. The food was great. We ordered octopus, meatballs, a pasta dish or two and dessert. You can't go wrong with anything you order. The service was spectacular. One of the best experiences we have had in a long time.
Best Restaurant Experience
This restaurant is top notch in every possible way. We had dinner here with our daughter to celebrate a birthday. The food is delicious. The service was perfect. The servers are attentive, helpful with spacing courses perfectly and no detail went unnoticed. Cannot recommend this fine establishment highly enough. It was just perfect!

Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Yes unfortunately they are finding more and more ways to lock up sellers money. Sell thru rate, refund rate, limiting withdrawal amounts ler day and per month (which for me are the same number which makes no sense). Lot of sellers leaving as you can see from the lifetime sales not really increasing. Most posts on here are frustrated sellers which is not a recipe for success

I’m sorry to hear about this - I’m a brand new seller on the platform and didn’t realize this was a *thing* - any chance you can point me to the fine print/documentation where this policy is stated (also identifying other caveats like this would be appreciated)?
