As a Michelin* restaurant, how do you quickly get some money on New Year's Eve? We booked for dinner. Initially the restaurant was open until 11 p.m. However, at the last minute we received a call that the closing time was scheduled for 10 p.m. Dinner (4 or 5 courses) started at 7.30 pm which meant that you had 2 1/2 hours to finish dinner including drinks. We knew that. The various courses were served quickly. The food was of good quality, but otherwise we had the feeling that we were in a brasserie. No tablecloth on the table. Sandwiches simply had to be cut on the table (no plates). No fish cutlery with the fish dishes. 1 guest did not eat fish but, despite prior notification when booking, was served fish for 3 courses. Service just ran smoothly on a daily basis. Character evening not taken into account. A course of fish (cod) was cold. The guinea fowl did not have an equal distribution of meat for one guest, there were 2 pieces of guinea fowl on the plate and 1 piece for the other. Beef tenderloin was way too raw. We were not asked in advance how we wanted the meat. After pouring, the bottle of white wine was simply placed on the table (no cooler with ice as usual. Had to be specifically asked for it, which caused some irritation among the service). Desert (Tarte Tatin with ice cream) was only served with a spoon, not with a fork. There were no cookies or chocolates or other friandises with the coffee and while we were still eating desert, the bill was immediately placed on the table (without us asking for it). Presenting a dinner in this way is absolutely *not* dignified. If you, as management, decide to keep your restaurant open on New Year's Eve, you also have the obligation to treat your guests in a dignified manner with a warm welcome and not to saddle your guests with the feeling of sitting in a brasserie and a 5- course dinner, excuse me, and charge €600 or (perhaps more for other guests) for it. So perhaps as a suggestion for the end of 2024. Close the restaurant or keep it open, but also offer full service in an appropriate ambiance.
