Food was good and place had an amazing view from what I could see. I went for a out of town 21st birthday and requested a window seat for this special occasion and wasn't told I wouldn't be able to get it as I called and spoke with someone and confirmed I'd get a window seat and upon arrival was sat at a table and was told I couldn't sit at a window table anymore as it was taken even though I had a reservation. So if your going here for the view don't expect a view as they will just put you anywhere no matter if you request for a special seat

My fiance surprised me with reservations here for our anniversary, and it was an amazing and unforgettable experience . We had the most beautiful view, and they even print out a personalized menu wishing you a happy anniversary. Our waitress, Denise, was AMAZING. We absolutely loved her. We decided to do the Royale which is the chefs tasting and we couldn't even finish it :( lol we had to take our last course and dessert home because we were just stuffed . The Royale that night included : 4 chilled oysters with the caviar service ( potato blini and potato chips with caviar, chive, egg, and Creme fraiche ), next up was the wagyu carpaccio served with a brioche ( the best carpaccio I've ever had ) and crudo. I don't even remember which pasta it was - but they cook it right in front of you and serve it with 2 shucked crab legs AMAZING. At that point, I just couldn't eat anymore lol. Our final dish was the wagyu striploin with the truffle potatoes - which I took two bites of and is currently sitting in my fridge so I can enjoy it today. They also gave us our dessert to go with a cute little box of Turkish delight and what looks to be truffle chocolate. I'm sure it will not be as epic as it would've been fresh - but I will be enjoying that all today. Overall, this isn't somewhere to eat everyday, but if you're celebrating something - this is the place to go . I love that we have a keepsake of our anniversary.
Came here for dinner last month with my best friend.
Let me just start here.... You're gonna spend a pretty penny here, especially if you're like me and have to try everything! My dinner experience here was really great. We were sat by the window and the view of Dallas as the sun sets is just beautiful. Our waitress was amazing; she gave great recommendations and knew that menu through and through. We started out with the meat balls which were really tasty. The. We shared the antelope, the truffle risotto, the short rib bolognese, the crab special and the brussels. Everything was cooked to perfection and the presentation was quite lovely. With everything that was wood fired you could really taste the difference in how it was cooked; it was really nice! The crab was really good and I loved that it was already cracked and ready to eat. The antelope was good, very lean but overall prepared nicely. The bolognese and the risotto were my favorites. Loved the flavors on both dishes. I would definitely come back to try other dishes and appetizers. Ambiance, service, etc. was all top notch. Again pricing is on the higher end here compared to other restaurants; but I left happy and full so for me it was worth it. I love dining experiences!
Lobster Salad - OMG
Dined at The Monarch restaurant in Dallas, Texas, located in the Thompson Hotel, and it was an exceptional dinner. The restaurant itself is stunning. I started with the cheese plate, and the blue cheese was absolutely fantastic—rich and creamy. The oysters, as always, were fresh and delicious. For my entree, I chose the lobster salad, and it was the perfect size and absolutely amazing. Every bite favorable. I thought the lobster salad was very unique. I am consistently impressed by both The Monarch and Maple & Ash restaurants. They are not only beautiful but also deliver top-notch food that never disappoints. If you're in Dallas, The Monarch is a must-visit for great food.

Had a reservation for our anniversary.
The food was 10/10 amazing! The service was the best! We did have to wait a short time for our table but we were very pleased with the bar waiting area where we had some bubbly and the best part, the view! Can't wait to celebrate more special events here.

Service, food, ambiance all 10/10! Have gone here twice for special occasions and leave even more pleased each time. Haven't tried anything that we didn't love! It is on the pricier side so if you are going for a date night for two prepare to spend at least $150.
Tremendous views and food
Really great pastas and overall great food. Top it off with spectacular views of Dallas and you have a great place for special dinner. Service was very strong and noise levels were comfortable. The only challenge is pricing. Prices are more on par with New York vs Dallas.
Great food.
Great view. Stellar service. A complete downtown experience. Blah blah blah (85 words now)

If you have a special occasion to celebrate, Monarch is the place to go. Here's what you get when you arrive: 1. Complementary Champagne 2. A personalized menu with your name(s) on it as a keepsake 3. A small box of chocolates to take home The food is great and the view is spectacular. Just be aware that on weekends a window side seat will cost you extra. My suggestion, save the money and put it towards the food. Every table has a great view. If you're adventurous and love surprises, order the Royale. They will serve you selections from the menu. What they serve you will be a surprise. As you can tell, Monarch is on the pricy side. But worth every penny for a celebration or special occasion.

We reserved a window seat ( deposit required) We had the chefs multiple course meal and wine pairing and it was awesome! I usually don't go in with a 4 digit budget in mind for a dinner for two. But my wife deserves the best and this was the best! I think she will keep me for a few more years. The staff made us feel special and we tried wine I would never have ordered. (Some great some might need acquired taste but exciting non the less). Save up for a special occasion, Do it right!

Before I gave the 5 star I wanted to compliment and give all the credit to Ryan or host and the guy who made my women's night one never to forget. Great guy, presents his service to a perfection. Good is always absolute 100%. If you're looking to impress your women monarch is the spot to be but the One you want to take care of you is Ryan. Let him know I sent you - Andrew
Amazing for Any Occassion.
Amazing experience. Culinary creativity. Wonderful portions. Thoughtful, friendly service. Exceptional cocktails. Unbelievable wine list.
EXCELLENT
I have no clue how the monarch gets anything less than a 5 star rating. everything from the champagne prior to going up to the view and decor to the service and the seafood tower for happy hour was to notch. If I lived in Dallas I would be a regular!
Reservation Disappointment
I made a reservation several weeks ahead of my birthday. I stipulated when i called that I wanted a booth with a view. When a reminder text came to confirm the reservation, I was told I needed to make an additional reservation with a $250 deposit to secure such a booth. It was not the deposit; but the premise I was not told about the additional reservation, and that I would need to go on a wait list to get the time I requested.

Fantastic menu and view (if you are will to prepay in advance for window table). Service is impeccable but of course you are going to pay Dallas prices. It's earned its distinction as one of the best in Dallas. We ordered an appetizer and split an entree which was more than enough.

Absolutely amazing service!! Request Justin and Bryan, they are absolutely amazing! We had such a wonderful time celebrating at Monarch for my husband's new job. Would definitely recommend this place and getting there early to experience the wonderful views of the bar and taking in the amazing restaurant!
This was my second time to Monarch because my first time
This was my second time to Monarch because my first time wasn't good because of several mishaps with the host/hostess. This second time, Efrain(manager) and Von(waiter) made sure my dinner was the best. I couldn't have asked for a better experience this second time around. We ordered the wood fired meatballs (5 ), crab pasta (5 not directly on menu) and crab legs (5 ) . Von was easily one of the top 2-3 waiters I've ever had at a restaurant. If you want a top tier experience ask for Von to be your waiter. I will most definitely be back

First off, the view is simply gorgeous and that's what you are paying for. Food: My filet Mignon was perfectly cooked, BUT flavorless. Had no taste what so ever and I expect more for the price point. The Caesar salad was my favorite thing on the table, but wish it had a protein source that could have been added since it was $18. The food just was not it for me. My friends asked for a strawberry lemonade and they rang it up as a mocktail for $10 . Service: We had a reservation for 8pm, but didn't get seated until around 8:30pm. The hostess and bartenders were friendly and attentive, but I can't say the same for our waiter. Service was slow and not what I would have expected at the price that was being paid for the "experience".
I am not even sure where to begin, We had a team dinner
I am not even sure where to begin, We had a team dinner there with one of our vendors at work, there was 10 of us. Nobody wanted or had to ask for anything, this team literally read all of our signs and kept us fed, and drinks filled without going out of our way to ask. We had a bunch of apps, a few entrees, a bunch of sides. I had one of the best paper planes I have had in quite some time, I then tried their Sovereign high I may or may not have tried a few more times. Finished off with an espresso martini that was to die for. The steaks were cooked to absolute perfection and displayed on boards for the table, the service staff made sure to explain everything to the table as far as temps and what everything was. We had a truffle allergy as well which was handled perfectly, we all made it out safely... The views are also amazing
Sadly Disappointed
We were so excited to try this. The staff was so nice (except for one server that rolled her eyes when we brought a problem to her attention ). We reserved a table with a view but there was a heavy curtain blocking part of the view. The food was really salty. They tried to make it right but once again too salty. The wines were good. The cocktails not so great. The Espresso Martini was good. The Old Fashion was completely overpriced & overrated. Overall the experience was completely overpriced & underwhelming! The women’s restroom was really gross. We wanted to love this but it fell way short. We were extremely disappointed for the amount we paid & I cannot recommend and will not return. I kinda wanna cry bc it was really expensive & so disappointing.
The atmosphere is absolutely amazing! The women's bathroom
The atmosphere is absolutely amazing! The women's bathroom has a stall where you can see the view of downtown and it's awesome. The food was good and the waitress was attentive.

Amazing espresso martinis, gorgeous views of Dallas, delicious food. Monarch never disappoints! We've gone several times, the chicken, steak, fish, it's all been stellar. The chocolate cake is phenomenal as well.
Location Downtown Dallas, Main Street District.
Top of the National. Parking Valet for $10 plus tip Very friendly-immediate service Upon return, elevator goes to valet level-card payment only Atmosphere Energetic and friendly vibe-hostess in lobby with welcoming sparkling rose. Good view of Seating Bar, intimate booths, tables, cushioned chairs in bar Much reserved-do make a reservation Service From valet to lobby hostess to elevator operator to bar servers-fantastic. Menu Great happy hour menu. Wr had the Prosecco, the cabernet, and the meat/cheese board. The bread was very large, grainy mustard-so good, nice cheeses, pickled veggies, meats. Yum. A-lot of customers got the seafood tower. Looked yum. Others had the oysters-2 servings! Summary Energetic and fun place for happy hour and special occasions. Great menu! Fantastic service! View from floor 49! Will return!

First, you are greeted with a glass of complementary champagne as you check in downstairs. From there, you take the elevator right to the 49th floor and are quickly greeted at the hostess stand. We started with the Moscato d'Asti and the Diamond Noir cocktail. We got the woodfired meatballs as an appetizer and absolutely loved the sauce, mixed with a little Bufalina mozzarella. They also serve housemaid fresh bread with a honey whipped ricotta that was fabulous. For entrées, we ordered the short rib Bolognese and spicy rigatoni pasta. The service was absolutely incredible and the views were spectacular. be sure to request a window seat! All in all, this was a magical way to spend our anniversary.
Quality service, food, and ambiance.
Definitely recommend you go back several times to try out different items.
top floor top tier
Give me a good cocktail and a better view and I'll be puddy in your hands and unfortunately my colleagues re aware of this!
This restaurant is a should visit with excellent service and an intriguing atmosphere
This is a great restaurant so this is not meant to be a bad review, but for the money you may spend I want you to know what to expect. First off, I highly recommend booking a window table, which will cost you money up front, but it is supposed to be a deposit towards your bill. There seems to be a breakdown there though, because after the fact, I didn't see that my deposit was subtracted from the bill, but I wasn't too worried about it so I didn't make a fuss about it. Also, you should strongly consider dressing to impress. This is a place to see and be seen in Dallas, and there will be multiple people in couture, like in a high-end restaurant in LA. We did the tasting menu which is $300 pp. Wine pairings are either $150 pp or $300 pp. The $300 pairing is nicknamed the "baller" pairing, which made me laugh, but is also kind of tacky. But maybe wealthy people in Dallas want to be called ballers, I'm not from Dallas so I don't know. I guess everything in Texas is bigger, right? The $150 pairing was sufficient for us and paired very well with the food we were served. The service is excellent, and the quality and taste of the food is excellent as well. But you are paying the same price you would pay for a Michelin 2 star in Chicago or New York (I've dined at most of them). The presentation of the food here is not a Michelin experience. At a Michelin 2 star, every dish is a work of art, both visually and in your mouth. I'm happy I dined here, and both my date and I had a good experience. The hotel was a great option after all the wine and is a wonderful hotel. The overnight staff informed the morning staff that we had checked in very late and they did not bother us when we stayed late in the morning. Also, you don't have to go all out and do the tasting menu. You can order anything in the tasting menu ala carte. Last note, the music in the restaurant was quite loud and did hinder conversation a bit. Overall, I rate this as a should visit, not a must visit.
Had high hopes
Our first impression was “Wow!” Started with complimentary champagne at the desk upon check in for the elevator ride to the 49th floor. The view is spectacular and would be enjoyable if you were able to sit at a table by the window…we were not that lucky. The lighting was low for ambience and the noise level was off the charts loud. The food was overpriced and way too salty. We will not be going back.
Immaculate cocktails
We savored the finest cocktails in Dallas at Monarch, where an exceptional view and an exquisite atmosphere transported us to another dimension. Starting our cocktail journey with the menu's "My Only Vice" and "Pornstar Martini," both proved irresistibly delicious. Subsequently, the exceptional bartender, Justin, mixed cocktails for us that truly transcended the ordinary. For those seeking a downtown escapade with a penthouse panorama and the delight of sipping on truly immaculate cocktails, Monarch is the quintessential destination!
Came here for dinner during my husband and I's honeymoon!
Came here for dinner during my husband and I's honeymoon! We put down $250 minimum for food and drink to reserve the window table. We were greeted with champagne for the elevator and then with more champagne at our table! We also got complimentary bread, cheese, and salami. The appetizers were amazing- octopus, tartare, oysters. Very elevated. The entrees were also delicious- veal and carbonara. We also both tried different cocktails that were so so good. We booked the table at 6 and got to watch the sunset throughout the evening- so gorgeous!! For dessert we got the soufflé- oh my gosh. So decadent. We loved Monarch and definitely recommend for celebrating a special occasion!

A dinner with my adult kids and we couldn't be happier! Gorgeous room, perfectly attentive staff, delicious food and well crafted drinks. Wish I had taken pics of the food but we were having such a good time. Definitely recommend the veal parma!!
This review is for the hospitality.
Amazing. Period. my wife and I brought our son to our Marriage Anniversary dinner and the whole staff was so welcoming. Our first contact with Monarch was the front desk on the first floor, complimentary champagne? Yes, please. As we exited the elevator to the monarch restaurant, we were greeted by a gentleman who welcomed us he escorted us to the host stand, we were a little early and they recommended that we should check out the cocktail bar on the next floor up, and the host will grab us when out table was ready. We were escorted to the cocktail bar with the gentleman and he brought us to a 360 view of downtown Dallas, pretty awesome , as you sip your cocktail.Within 20 minutes, a host made contact with us and informed us our table was ready, I mentioned we wanted to be seated away from service and traffic since we had a child and did not want to disrupt other guest or service. They gave us one of the best tables near windows and the kitchen. This was a god-send. As the night progressed, we ordered apps, bread, drinks and main courses. The staff, noticed our son get fussy and one on the cooks/ chefs decided to take it upon himself to play peek-a-boo from kitchen with my son. My son's laugh is so contagious, it made servers stop by and say "What's so funny, buddy, with big smiles" It was heart warming. As dinner progressed, everything tasted great, but children get fussy, and we hate to cause a scene, we decided to have dessert to go. This place is truly a master class in Hospitality.
I had a lovely and romantic evening here with my husband.
The service was very good. We were seated promptly, offered drinks and out server went over the menu with us. We decided to get the octopus and meatballs as a starter, split the fish for our meal, a side of asparagus, and the chocolate moose cake for dessert. This was a so much more food than we expected, we had three containers of left overs. We enjoyed all the food we had and i especially liked the meatball sauce. After dinner we went upstairs, grabbed a drink at the bar and walked the catwalk. We stumbled upon an empty cocktail table and we sat for 20 mins talking. Overs it was a nice, romantic date night. We will go again in the future.
We had a fantastic time for our 7 year wedding anniversary!
We had a fantastic time for our 7 year wedding anniversary! Upon arriving we gave our car to valet and made our way to the lobby where we received a glass of champagne before taking the elevator almost 50 stories up for dinner. We checked in with the host and was escorted to our table with a breathtaking view of the city! And now for the food and drink: the cocktail and wine list was more extensive than we've experienced and we were a bit overwhelmed! Lol Graciously, our waiter held our hand through it and 15 minutes later we decided on the Pornstar Martini for me and a bottle of white for hubs! (I was still nursing my champagne when I ordered my cocktail and a glass of wine ) After cocktails, we shared the meatballs and oysters for appetizers. The meatballs were very flavorful and hearty, and the sauce was amazing! The oysters were fresh and the habanero aioli was very good! It was a change from the normal mignonette and cocktail sauces offered as pairings. For dinner we had the lobster pasta and dry aged ribeye! Delicious! The deconstructed lobster over the pasta made for a unique presentation! The steak was seasoned and done to my perfect medium rare request! For dessert, we split the chocolate cake! It was so moist and decadent! The chocolate peanut butter and caramelized bananas came together very well! Stuffed, tipsy and very satisfied about 2 hours later, we ended our night! We'd like to thank our waitstaff for a beautiful evening! We got everything we could've ever wanted that night! All the staff worked well together to show us the best night and we're very grateful and hope our gratuity showed that! Now for the tips: it's nearly impossible to get a reservation during the weekend without calling in advance, because the place is packed! People flock to the bar and dining area for the experience, and rightfully so! It's amazing! If you're celebrating and want a great view, SPEAK UP! Sure they may not be able to accommodate you, but don't leave anything up to chance! Tell them why you're dining and what you want, and I'm almost positive they will work to make something happen for you. Give enough time to get to the building, park, go up and arrive to your reservation on time. The team works well together to accommodate you, but the weekends are very busy for the building which hosts more than one restaurant and a hotel. Elm street is a parking lot from main to the building on most weekends. You've been warned! Enjoy!
everything was amazing.
they bring you out like a mini charcuterie complimentary. You are served champagne before you even make it to your table. The spicy rigatoni was great. We also had the lamb which was cooked to perfection. You can't beat the views. Wonderful ambiance.
Went for NYE and the food/drinks were fantastic.
Cant wait to go back for a normal evening.

Dinner with a view.
We had the lasagna and ravioli which were A-MAZING. The service is stellar and the atmosphere is fun and elegant.
Monarch is a must visit
View is amazing from the 49th floor! Food is great. Portion size is family style. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable.
It's a celebration! My 25th working anniversary.
I had a small budget to use so I brought some friends along wit celebrate. Monarch was my first choice. The experience was wonderful. It's downtown on Elm Street and on the 49th floor where you can see the skyline depending on where you're sitting. I suggest that you RSVP early and make sure they know you're having a special occasion to snag a window seat. (That's not guaranteed! I don't want ya'll saying this Yelp Elite told me the secret knock.) The other reason is they're really busy. Even on a random Wednesday that place was hoping! We had a couple of complimentary glasses of sparkling wine before going up to the restaurant. We had a couple of cocktails , a celebratory tequila shot (it was national Tequila Day) and then we went to order. I wanted the Tuna Tartare (spectacular!!) It was so sweet, fresh and melts on your tongue. That's why those booth chairs are so soft. You takes bites of food and want to melt right into the cushions. We had the filet minion, Veal Parmesan (huge, tender and breaded just right), Lamb shank. We chatted and caught up on our busy lives. Courtney was wonderful as well as her assistants ensuring all food desires were met in excess. Ladies!!! Make sure you go to the bathroom with your phone and use the last stall. Trust me.
Great Romantic Restauarant
I loved this restaurant. The food was great and the atmosphere was amazing. The service was good as well. My only disappointment was at the bar. My husband asked what type of bourbon. He was told of the types he liked. He ordered a bourbon for $80 but was NOT told that for $20 more he could get Pappy.... Well, yes, we would have ordered a Pappy instead! I think the bartender didn't make the offer and we missed a great opportunity. And, go to the bathroom.... If you know you know ;)
Out state visitors
Poor service from start to finish. We were asked twice while waiting for our reservation if we were another guest. We were seated late. Dress code policy not enforced, ok to wear a t -shirt, no collar policy not enforced. Waiter introduced himself twice and then got lost for hour. Finally had to go get a manager who I assume was to above taking our order. Another server assigned to us who had to yell the specials for us to hear them. The setting was so loud you could not hear others and enjoy your friends. Huge disappointment, not worth trying. So many other great places in Dallas eat at and for prices you will get good service at those places.
Unexpected delight
In Downtown Dallas for business. Flew in arriving after 5pm. Did a search of nearby restaurants and Monarch shows up with decent ratings. Decided to try it - appears to be Italian. This restaurant is to say the least OUTSTANDING!! We were greeted in the lobby and given a complimentary glass of champagne. We then traveled up 49 floors to the restaurant. Every table has an amazing view of the Dallas skyline. The staff Sommelier recommended an outstanding wine from Tuscany to pair with our meal which included Octopus, Salmon and Lasagne. The food was outstanding and so was the wine pairing. What was so unexpected was the vibe of the restaurant. We were there on a Monday evening so expectations were low. However the vibe was young and energetic. We are late 50’s and just loved the the entire setting. Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys a good meal, wine pairing and atmosphere. Ideal for couples and adults. Also affordable for those looking for a classy superb meal.
Amazing time!
Our server MYKAL is responsible for at least half of these stars. I rate not only for the food but the experience given and I will tell you Mykal exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, he made sure we were taken care of. He's extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, and exemplifies professionalism. He made sure we got the full experience. My daughter has high functioning autism and he did not know. Not only did he make her feel included, he gave her some amazing suggestions as well as being patient with her making her decision. This brings me to my next point. Mykal knew the menu inside and out. Not only was he able to tell us the fan favorites as well as his favorites, he was able to give us HOW it was prepared and each ingredient. Not once did he look at the menu, he KNEW it. Even when we asked about other items, he was able to run down the item, preparation and ingredients. I am a pescatarian and I tend to look at the menu prior to booking to anticipate what I am able to eat. We made him aware of my dietary restriction at the beginning of the meal. When I was putting in my order, I chose a side that I thought was vegetarian and he immediately knew that it wasn't (there was no "let me check with the kitchen", or waiting until it arrives at the table to be disappointed to find I am unable to eat it). He needs a raise or to be in a management position or something. We love fine dining restaurants for birthdays & our new year tradition and we've never come across a server that was knowledgeable, down the earth AND professional. It's extremely rare to get a server that has all of these qualities. Please share this with corporate because we were absolutely blown away! Another staff member who was amazing was the woman that cleared our table. She was extremely friendly as so efficient. I wish I remembered her name but she is pictured as well. It was so impressive how efficient she was all while smiling and talking to us and my daughter as well. Everyone else was friendly but these two staff members stood out the most to us. The food was good. The oysters we heavenly and so were the sauces that they came with. The garlic mash potatoes were my favorite side, they were delicious. Thank you for the most amazing experience. We will forever remember our 2022 New Year tradition celebration at this restaurant and we will be back due to the impeccable service! Please enjoy my photos!

Expectations were low as I had read numerous reviews we were attending an event in Hotel which made an easy option service was great drinks as well but food was definitely not impressive! Unless willing to pay $200 for premium filet other options were lacking would revisit for views & drinks but would go elsewhere for much better food!
Some of The Best of Dallas!
Came here for my wife's birthday dinner. Our server, Jessica was on point with all of her recommendations. First off, make a reservation to make it easy on yourself. Ask for a window table, for the views of Dallas. You're on the 49th floor! For our drinks, I had the Diamond Noir, and my wife had the French 75. For our starter, we shared the wood-fired meatballs, which had great flavor. Based on server recommendations, I had the short rib bolognese as my entree, and my wife had the lamb chops. We got the carbonara to taste, as well as the sides of brussel sprouts & garlic whipped potatoes. For a dessert, my wife enjoyed the toffee cake pudding & raved about it. Everything was fantastic. Then Jessica took us upstairs to the lounge on the 50th floor (Kessaku) for champagne & 360-degree views of Dallas. FYI, valet is $10.
Very Nice EVent
I recently attended a private event at Monarch. We were on the 50th floor with a great view. The food and service were excellent. I'd go back for dinner.
