2nd visit - will be back!
I first tried New Paradise over a year ago and it was distinctly average. But I gave them a 2nd visit just recently and was vey pleasantly surprised.
I ordered take away on a Friday night. Vegetable pakora, chicken tikka masala, rice and garlic naan. Initially they said 25-30min to make it but in reality it was ready in about 15min.
The two samosa are quite substantial and come with some good dipping sauces. The tikka masala was really tasty - I ordered medium and got a nice burn- although my personal preference would have been a slightly thicker sauce. But that’s no reason not to have it again. The garlic naan was ok but could have done with another minute or two in the oven. I doubt it is made fresh but it’s still good enough.
Overall I paid less than $20 for a very decent curry.
There is a shortage of good Indian restaurants in Wichita but New Paradise has restored some hope.
Hidden gem
The buffet isn’t much to look at but don’t let that fool you. The variety of choices may appear limited but the flavors aren’t held back. Most of the dishes are savoury and spicy, just like we expect it to be. The staff are friendly and attentive. The briyani used to be our favorite but they must have changed then recipe as it is probably the only dish on the buffer which we’ve noticed to be a little sub par. It’s one of the few restaurants which serve ‘batura’ which turns out to be really tasty bread fir dipping the curries with. Yes they provide ‘naan’ as well but we prefer the batura.

I had the buffet at New Paradise Biriyani, the food was very flavorful and the buffet was setup in two stations, which consisted of a vegetarian and non-vegetarian section. Both sections were extremely flavorful but the meat in the non-vegetarian was a little tough and overcooked. The service was very good and the staff was friendly. Overall this was a good dining experience.

Delicious Chicken Tikka Masala. We used a Groupon and it was an excellent value. We are looking forward to trying their lunch buffet to sample some of their other dishes.

I have tried the food here many times and from thier breads to curries it's the best. Only place that serves a good selection of south Indian cuisine as well. Great service !!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat variety and authentic flavors of the Sub-continent!
I had the butter chicken complemented by basmati rice and butter nan. This was so close to what I ate in Jaipur that I thought for a minute I was back there. Try this place-- it is really GOOD!

I think the price was very fair for a lunch buffet. They opened at 11 and our friends group there at 11:30 so everything was fresh and hot. My very favorite dish on the whole buffet was actually the vegetarian biryani. I didn't try one item on the buffet that I didn't think was really really well made. My friend's husband is from India and he says it's one of the top two places in Wichita to dine for authentic Indian cuisine. The only thing I did not enjoy was the bread that they brought to the table in a basket which was not warmed up and I thought it was dry and cold and did not enhance the meal. I love the idea that every table has a picture of water so we never had to wait for a refill. The location is very plain very casual there is no Decor at all but it is clean and friendly. The TV was on with dance videos from India but the volume was low enough that it just was kind of a compliment to the atmosphere since there is so little Indian decoration. We will definitely return for another lunch outing.

Wichita's food scene is under the radar, but has great diversity, including several Indian places. This is the one of the newer places that took over where Pirate Pete's used to be.
I came for lunch, which was a buffet. The lady was helpful in explaining the dishes since I am not very experienced in Indian food. Some of the dishes on the buffet were Andhra chicken, tikka masala, biryani, fish and goat dishes, an egg curry as well as a good number of vegetarian dishes. There are a couple dessert dishes as well. It is served with naan bread.
I found the food to be fresh, flavorful and authentic. Dining is casual with modest decor. They advertise Halal food and they serve beer if you are so inclined. The price was very reasonable and I will be back.
