Experience the best
Expensive but half the cost is experiential, and 100% worth it. Craft cocktails with crashing waves and freshest seafood… no wonder it sells out. Miso Cod a MUST! Reservations are definitely not impossible. You just need to call 30 days out exactly at 10 AM West Coast time, and Stay patient.
Be the first to ReplyExpectations
"Expectation is the root of all heartache" is a quote I've learned the hard way when it comes to trying restaurants like Nobu Malibu.... and in other areas of life but I'm not tryna trauma dump on here. The Carbones and the Peter Lugers of the world let me down far more often than not, as I'm expecting to be BLOWN away by them. I think it's a mix of my expectations being near impossible to meet, and these businesses know that people will come just off of the hype alone, so it's hard to stay locked in. For context, my girlfriend was coming to LA for the first time and her one and only request was to go to Nobu Malibu, even quoting the Drake line "Eatin crab out in Malibu at Nobuuuuuu" smh. After calling and trying to make a res 24 days in advance, we were put on the waitlist. By the time our trip came around, I was hinting to pookie that God may just not want us to go…. but she said we could go right when it opens and could probably get a seat at the bar. I understood the low probability of this, but thought a spiritual drive up to Malibu would be worth it anyways. Plus, you try telling pookie no. Pookie gets what pookie wants. After the beautiful 58 minute drive from Manhattan Beach filled with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and BlueBucksClan spilling out my Toyota Rav4 speakers, we arrived at the promised land. The valet parks my 2017 Rav4 between a matte G-Wagon and a big body Range, and we walk through the beautiful little courtyard lounge area with the Pacific Ocean maybe 20 feet from us to get to the entrance. We get in at 11:59am (it opens at noon), and it is already PACKED. I was like baby no way we gettin a seat ahahaha...I was ready to just grab an early drink and enjoy the elite ambiance and head up to Point Dume for a meal. We got to the host stand and I put on my best puppy dog eyes, and the host says a table may open up, but we can sit at the bar as there is a full menu. She points over my right shoulder to the bar, and it is completely empty lol. Pookie was right. Before we could even order a drink, the hostess comes up to us and says a table opened up as someone canceled a res. WE UP! I don't even really need to say this, but this ambiance is everything it is cracked up to be. Whatever you're thinking in your head, it's even better. Waves crashing, sun shining. An absolute spiritual experience. We were buzzin that we got in, so we ordered a FEAST: Edamame & Shishito Peppers to start (do both I promise), Spicy Yellowtail Jalapeño, Crispy Rice w Spicy Tuna, Wagyu Tacos, Rock Shrimp Tempura, Black Miso Cod, Spicy Tuna Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Baked Crab Roll. The quality of food at Nobu is just on a whole different level. It really is artistry what they are doing in here. Every bite we would look at each other like DAMN THIS IS HITTIN. Our favorites were the Yellowtail Jalapeño, Crispy Rice, and Black Cod. Those 3 dishes are like the Heatles. Yellowtail Jalapeño is LeBron though. I need to shout out my man Brett, our server. He was delivering the type of service you would expect here. Engaging, funny, and knows the menu like the back of his hand. Just one of those dudes who is happy to be alive and those kinds of people are infectious. Yeah, it's expensive. A special occasion only type beat. Being well north of $400 after a couple drinks each, my pockets were on featherweight. However, it was an experience we will talk about for years to come...and that's exactly what I was paying for. The experience. It is something we will always have together. To me, life is all about stacking these types of experiences with the people that you love and the people that love you. You can't take it with you. So yeah, it was easily worth it. In closing, I can't help but equate Nobu Malibu to LeBron James. The weight of the world on his shoulders, dubbed "The next Michael Jordan" and "The Chosen One" at age 16 comes with a level of expectation that could only set him up to fail. Yet, he still blew them out of the water. LeNobu. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

Came for my birthday & the entire experience was amazing. All the staff members were so attentive & the food was delicious. Getting a reservation during daylight hours which has the best view of the ocean was difficult.
Be the first to ReplyThe place to go if you don’t want to talk to your company!
I can’t remember the last time I was this uncomfortable….the tables were crammed in so close together. The worst part was the noise: I could not carry on a conversation with the person sitting next to me. The people at the next table were also yelling at each other ( just to be heard - not in anger) so their conversation was overpowering. Although the staff was courteous, it must have been difficult to have patrons screaming orders just to be understood. Our waiter actually took only five of our six orders ( we had to find him again to remind him that there was a forgotten order!). The food came in some random order. My husband, a fast eater, was served first, and had finished before anyone else had eaten! My daughter-in-law got her food after the entire table was finished! Plates were removed quickly….too quickly, and bussers were constantly wiping off the table (this was annoying). The food, itself, was unremarkable.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre Sushi
We went to Nobu for their famous Sushi. We had Sushi a la carte. The restaurant was beautiful. But the sushi was mediocre. We are sushi lovers and had amazing sushi in many cities. We live in Ohio and go out for sushi regularly. The Albacore was fresh and delicious. Uni was also tasty. Otherwise, salmon & Yellowtail , sweet shrimp were ok. At the recommendation of the server, tried Kampachi and Kinmedai which were terrible. Will not go back for sushi . Maybe their other hot dishes are better .
Be the first to ReplyThey don’t want your business
Extremely rude hostess at reception. She was condescending and also lied. Despite reservation two weeks earlier. Nobu is overrated. There are many better places to dine in Malibu.
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievable food, high price, but worth it
Our dinner was unbelievable with a very original take on Japanese and Sushi dishes. We went with a large group and the staff was able to portion our selections so all 10 people had a taste. The bill came to $550.00 a couple with two drinks per person, so if you don't have any alcohol it would be about $100.00 cheaper.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
I go to Nobu Malibu a few times a year, usually for business. This time I went and took my best friend and her kids there and unfortunately, what a regret. Every drink we ordered took 40 minutes to arrive. By the time we ordered and paid the tip, we were STILL waiting for the food. I will never make the mistake of paying a tip before we finish dinner but I wanted to make sure I paid for my friend and took care of the bill before her. Our server was Dillion and though he started out nice, it ended up being a nightmare. The last thing we ordered after the medley of food, was salmon sushi with truffle oil. It was delivered without the truffle oil, and I mentioned it and sent it back. 20 minutes later, our waiter, Dillion, came and apologized for making the mistake and said that he was sorry. Then he asked for $5 more for the truffle oil!!! At Nobu?! After I gave him a 25% tip. Wow. Ok, I said, no problem and gave him a $20 dollar bill. Ten minutes later he comes back and asks if I want change!!! He says that he is going to have to re-open the bill if I want change! Yes, I said, after everything that has happened, I do not want to give him a 300% tip on the truffle oil sand yes, I do want change. Then the manager comes, Troy, and gives me my $20 and says that he is going to comp me the $5 truffle oil charge. Yes, these are first world problems. In fact, these are the top 1% of first world problems. But this still ruined the evening and I am still disappointed. I was so looking forward to enjoying the evening on a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyGreat last minute booking
I was expecting something special and was not disappointed, but definitely pricey! Napa Valley wine complimented lots of varied dishes - all great.
Be the first to ReplyA Christmas lunch to remember
My family and I visited Nobu on Christmas Day and made it one to never forget. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate - the ingredients are a privilege to work with and they make sure to pay them due respect. Presentation on every dish was exquisite and if you can’t work out what to go for I recommend letting your server know what sort of flavours you like - giving them a rough budget and then enjoying being surprised because nothing will disappoint. Although the Black Cod Nobu is famous for is a MUST.
Be the first to ReplyExperience Nobu @Malibu
It was such a hyped that when you visit LA must go to Nobu. We arrived before the door was open as we had a reservation at 12 pm. We were the 2nd guests to walk in and were greeted just normally by the hostess Alexa, she brought us a table which is a small table for 2 in front of a folding door. I looked around there were plenty of seats and I was looking around if she could show me a better table. But she just simply said this is the size of a table for 2 people and walked away not even trying to help. With such a high-end restaurant how could a hostess treat the guests coldly without even trying? The server saved our expectations, KARDELL is such a warm person, explained the menu in detail and not trying to rush us at all. Such a lively and cheerful person which was just the opposit of the hostess.

Reservations: For starters I would echo other's sentiments that even having a reservations tab on their website is useless, and should just be removed (however I think this is done with intent). If you've read any reviews for Nobu Malibu you know that: A) you can't make reservations online B) you have to call their reservation line to make a reservation C) reservations can only be made as far out as 1 month in advance, to the date. Not 30 days, not 31 days. You want a reservation for October 27th, you have to call on September 27th D) Their reservation line opens at 10:00am local time With this information in hand, I made our reservation 1 month in advance, called the exact moment they opened and wound up 14th in the queue. This translated into the earliest available dinner reservation as being 9:15 PM. This of course was no problem for us, as we were on our way to Tahiti and were attempting to acclimate to the time difference anyways. But to say the least, making a reservation as part of the general public appears to be intentionally cumbersome. Food & Drinks: I would say the food is good. Don't expect to be BLOWN AWAY by it or anything, but to be honest I think when you come to Nobu Malibu, you're there more for the ambiance than anything. Among the food that we sampled were some shrimp and tamago nagiri which were fine. The wagyu tacos were quite good. And the rock shrimp tempura and shrimp/lobster in spicy lemon sauce was good as well. I was a big fan of the bento box and definitely would give that a try. All the drinks that we tried were well made, Vespertine, Lychee martini, etc. Staff: The bartenders were quite enjoyable and pleasant, the hostesses rather aloof, and the servers were attentive. Atmosphere: This is the real star of the show here isn't it? The location is superb, and the outdoor area has fantastic views. Great venue for celebrity spotting, as we saw a couple while there.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Service and Food!
From the Service to the food everything was Amazing! Our server guided us through the menu and made very good recommendations that we tried. My husband had the Omakase -Multi course menu option, and I tried a little bit of everything, from the scallops for appetizers, the Wagyu Tacos, the Lobster and shrimp entree, everything was Outstanding. Looking forward to another trip to Nobu!
Be the first to Replyperfect!
we arrived a touch late and our car was taken by the valet which all went smoothly we were greeting and promptly shown to our table; it was outside and had the must stunning views of the sea and the rest of the restaurant. straight away we had still water, which was constantly refilled throughout the meal, i didn’t have an empty glass once! we then ordered food after the menu had been explained to us since this was our first time in nobu, we first pursed a few cold fish dishes, some miso soup and the ribeye tacos, all of which were perfect and i would get again in a heartbeat Our second course of lobster, two different types of steak, squid pasta and dover sole arrived, yet again all of them were perfect The rest of the party i was in eat fish however i’ve never liked it at all, however every single bit of fish i tried here i had seconds (or thirds!) Next we ordered some pieces of sushi as a palette cleanser which tasted perfect with the soy spice and finished with the iconic bento box. I particularly liked the style of the bento box and it was really fun! All in all, this was one of my favourite meals ever! We are in California for 6 more nights and i don’t think we’ll get a meal better than this! (we phoned up exactly 30 days in advance which i would recommend if you want an outside seat)
Be the first to ReplyHorrendous reservations system
I am from Singapore and had wanted to book lunch for 20 November. Since early October I have since emailed Nobu thrice but no reply. Simultaneously I tried the open table system and until 21 October it’s still stated as “the restaurant does not take reservations so far in advance”. I have tried at least 20 times on a daily basis since October. So today I decided to pay for an international call but was told they are fully booked on 20 November? Can you just remove your system with Open Table? In this digital age you are forcing customers to call internationally. Why set up the Open Table?

We really loved it here, drinks were nice and strong! We sat in the sun with a beautiful view and it was perfect.
Be the first to ReplyPower Dining
Yes, it's a bit of a scene with the crowds, and the stream of "Nobu beach photos" taken by influencer wannabes is annoying BUT the food and roaring waves of carbon beach are worth it. You will see all types of people here -- my advice is to keep it low key and enjoy the company you're keeping. Not everything needs to be documented.

I must say the location is absolutely beautiful. The staff was nice. Our order did take a bit longer than expected but it was busy.
Be the first to ReplyDISCRIMINATION BASED ON DISABILITY AND NATIONAL ORIGIN
My partner, who is elderly and suffers from serious disabilities—namely, diabetes osteoarthritis, and recent total replacements for both knees—had an atrocious experience after many years of loyalty. After we arrived on July 14 at noon, hostess Alexa sized us up and visibly scoffed at our Ukrainian badges and insignia, which we both prominently and proudly wore in support of Ukraine during the war. She rudely insistent that we wait despite our pleas to be seated as our third person was unlikely to make it due to circumstances beyond our control. As we explained to her manager (see below), if we were not to seated my partner would have likely passed out and been in a lot of pain. After a very embarrassing exchange with Alexa, she finally sat us at a table, which was inappropriate for a handicapped person despite our plea to move us. Alexa refused, using the excuse that “all tables have been reserved” as she again looked our Ukrainian outfits up and down. Her discrimination was obvious on its face. We immediately addressed this issue with Alisa, the alleged manager on duty. She squarely refused to do anything about it and refused to move us to an appropriate table despite me reminding her that their actions were in violation of both federal and state law. Indeed, she has implemented a double standard right before our eyes as she sat a single gentleman at a large table, whose party showed up at least 30 minutes late. Again, very obvious discrimination. Unfortunately, my partner was quickly fading away, so we had to stay and have him eat at least something before we could leave for another place. All in all, this has caused significant public embarrassment and discomfort for my partner. Poor sole. This incident is particularly disappointing because both my partner and I have been very loyal patrons of Nobu across the world. The Nobu restaurants used to be where we’d take out business partners, clients and family for years without an issue. That will be unlikely the case moving forward. We will escalate this issue to the HQ, as well as the local government, including congressman Ted Lieu. Nobu is in a serious need of management change, staff training on disability laws and an anti discrimination policy.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible service- Rude people, Overpriced, BAD experience ! Don't fall for the HYPE!
I wished I had looked at the low-rating reviews on google before going here as they all have a common thread.. " Bad attitude and Service". This generally means the company has. poor culture and this trickles down from the top. The kitchen is super slow, the food very small, too salty, and overpriced. After spending $150, had to drive to Malibu Farm and have a real meal.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place
Nice Japanese restaurant located in Malibu area with beach front, spacious suitable for large group, well decorated and nice setup. The food was tasty in general, some platters I would say tasted perfect and some a bit less but good. Excellent service, high prices. Highly recommended. Note: a prior reservation is advisable.
Be the first to ReplyWoW, WoW, WoW
WoW, WoW, WoW. A meal here is an absolute treat. The service is second to none ie. The server’s detail about each dish (thank you Tahere), fabulous. The location, ambience and quality of food and service amazing. What could they do better perhaps provide more training to their central telephone team who are at times ‘plain rude’. For them you wouldn’t eat here but work through that because once you get through the doors bliss - we’ll done yum!
Be the first to ReplyLovey views exciting ambience
Consistent with other international Nobus, this place was full of interesting guests, all happy with the world class menu. Great location, right on the beach, loved the valet. Our waitress was knowledgeable and on target with her recommendations. Thankyou
Be the first to ReplyFamous because of famous people having low standards! Good for your insta but that’s it!
Here we go again. Serving high profile people but the food… I do get better food in a small average restaurant in Glasgow or in Los Angeles than here. Typical famous because famous people are visiting who obviously doesn’t have any standards. Just a show off for your insta or Facebook but actually if you have standards and you don’t care about showing off please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. Small portions, very expensive the quality isn’t there.
Be the first to ReplyService, view, food. Experience Nobu.
We ate here with a 2:30 reservation on a Sunday. The view is beautiful as well as the surroundings. The food is excellent, although pricey. It is a great special occasion restaurant. Reservations are needed and fill up two months in advance, so plan accordingly. I would eat here again. You are paying for the experience, food, and atmosphere. Service is excellent.
