North Italia Leawood Reviews from The Last Year
Bad customer service timing.
We found hair the food. The pasta we got was the rigatoni vodka, and they charged us $22 each for a quarter of the proper serving size.
Our server Skye provided us with some great food
Our server Skye provided us with some great food suggestions. We started with a couple cocktails, my silician margarita was a good balance of tartness & strong tequila taste. Our heirloom tomatoes & burrata was very fresh but needed a few more croutons. Per suggestion I ordered the STROZZAPRETI. It's their version of chicken fettuccine but that's a broad description. Our app & food came out timely. My first bite of chicken, portobello mushrooms, pine nuts, cream sauce & made in house twisted pasta was far better than I expected! The nuttiness of the mushrooms went so well with the Parmesan cream sauce. This dish is far superior to chicken fettuccine. I normally eat half but couldn't stop & finished my dish. My BF bolognese is their top seller but I had no regret devouring dish. Finished the meal with a Bee's Knees & left with a good buzz, big smile & full belly.

Love everything on the menu, my favorite is the bread with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette starter, Bolognese pasta is very delicious.
My issue with the restaurant was my waiter was not
My issue with the restaurant was my waiter was not listening to what I wanted. He was being pushy on what we should order. Also when I order a salad for dinner with a $7 add on for chicken, I would like my salad not so coated In dressing and actually to taste the vegetables and not just dressing.
Great environment and amazing staff.
Especially Sky. She did really good job on serving us tonight. really delicious food too :) will be back soon
Our food was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed the tortellini
Our food was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed the tortellini and my husband had the bolognese. Both were very good. Highly recommend purely based on the food. Atmosphere was loud and busy which was interesting. We had a party of 6 and the host was going to sit us at a half round booth which we preferred something else and they were kind enough to accommodate and find us another table. Our service was prompt and friendly. She made good recommendations as well. This restaurant is better for dinner or happy hour with friends not for family or special occasions.
The weather was nice so we sat outside.
They had a nice patio area. It was pretty busy on a Sunday evening, but we had reservations, so the wait time was minimal. The waitress was very nice and had great recommendations. I had a dirty glass with lipstick stains on it, but we mentioned it to the server and it was resolved. The white truffle garlic bread was so good- would recommend!
Poor customer service, mediocre food, and bad management.
Sadly this has been the norm there my last few visits. Dined here on Saturday night and we were there a total of 3.5 hours. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes just to get our food , after eating it took another hour to get our check. No consideration given on the bill for our wait. It felt as if we were held hostage. They appear to be operating under the idea of cram as many people in the building as possible to take their cash without worrying if those people have a good experience. I am done falling victim to this philosophy. I know they don't care as they always have a full lobby of suckers but we will never be back.
Dined here on a Friday night.
We had reservations and didn't get seated until 40 minutes after our time. There were many other disgruntled parties waiting that we spoke with who also had reservations who were kept waiting. The girls running the front desk were completely overwhelmed and clueless. They kept passing reservation slips back and forth, looking around, and at each other and laughing. They were just lost. When we placed our meal order, no one told us that one of the entrees ordered was no longer available. Most of our food took almost 40 minutes, when they brought the food the on duty manager came to the table with a menu to tell the birthday person that her entree was no longer available. She said not to worry because we would not be charged for her meal and asked her to make another selection. The food that did come came in plates that were too hot to touch, but the food itself was luke warm, go figure. We were going to say something but it was obvious our waitress was overwhelmed as we almost never saw her. No manager to be found, my son even pointed out that the managers at Whataburger come by the table so it can't be that hard, unless they just don't care. When it was time to pay the bill, my husband gave them his credit card & my son asked if they took off the one meal. Upon review of the bill, we noticed that it had not been removed from the check. My husband brought that fact up to the waitress who needed to get the manager, who seemed not to be readily available. It took her a long time to find her. When the manager was finally located, my husband confronted her & she said that it was a computer glitch. Talk about insulting our intelligence. There was no glitch, just human error, (or outright shady business) which no one was taking responsibility for. We've enjoyed many dozens of meals at this location and were always treated like honored guests, but this was just appalling and undignified. If I wanted this level of service and dining experience I would eat at Applebees. Disappointed doesn't begin to describe how awful tonight's experience was. We won't be back.
Truly a Terrible Experience
I hate to leave a one star review but our experience here tonight was truly terrible. We had a 7:30 reservation and finally decided to leave at 8pm because the service was non-existent. I had to visit the host stand to get service after sitting at a table for twenty minutes in the middle of the dining room waiting for a server. We asked to speak to a manager and were told a manager would visit our table and they never did. The manager gal looked miffed at even being asked to do so, rolled her eyes and proceeded to stand around leaning and avoid us. Our server did finally arrive and didn't even say hello just started in with an excuse about why they hadn't greeted us for 20 minutes. Apparently she was busy with other tables. This is unacceptable for a place where our meal would have been well over $100+. I wish I could say they cared.. I can't speak to the food because we didn't have any.
Terrible Management
We have been coming here for many years now and it seems they go through bad spells with management. This current group I only recognize one of them (heavier set gal that has worked there for years but never introduced herself so don’t know her name) seems to really have a dislike for people walking in to give her money. We normally get the same servers anytime we come for dinner, however, lately when we arrive they'll give a sob story about the server isn't available for us. Ask them if she can switch with another table, the answer is "no". Even though we put the name of who we want in the comments. The above mentioned manager was confrontational with us instead of going with the well known thing in the restaurant business, "The customer is always right". It seems she doesn't know how to follow that rule. My point/ years of giving this place lots of money hasn't really paid off for my family. The disrespectful attitudes from some of the front end staff has no place in the restaurant business. They seem to think just because they are busy all the time that they don’t actually need to provide decent service. After close to ten years dining here we will probably never come back after this last episode. Why would someone want to give money to rude and obnoxious staff?

My best friend with two newborns who never gets to enjoy a nice meal was invited by me and her mother to lunch for some girl time. Maybe it was because it was day after Mothers Day but simply awful. The restaurant was freezing ! We asked if something could be done and our server was very snotty and said it was suppose to be warmer outdoors later in the day. What??? We sat at our table for 15 mins before anyone said anything and even then another waitress order our drinks and said they couldn't find our waitr. Water were brought to the table only for us to wait another 15 mins only for a guy to walk up to our table and only greet us with are u ready to order? Thinking that we don't know when we would see him again we ordered apps and entrees and a glass of wine. The wine came promptly and then we seemed to wait almost 25 for our app and it wasn't hot. Got our course 30 mins later that appeared it had been sitting a very long time. Asked for a side of ketchup that I didn't get until halfway through my meal. Our waitress was just beyond rude and unpleasant. Then while leaving after we paid n tipped, the front desk asked how our meal was and we replied horrible. They went and got the manager and she greated us with we are doing a really bad job today and since you have already paid I cannot comp your meal (I didn't ask to be comped, your staff asked me how it was and went and got you!!!) and said she wud give us a gift card. No apology. Thanks for ruining what was supposed to be a nice enjoyable lunch and day for my friend
Horrible service.
The hostess was extremely rude and stuck up - would not seat us even though there were MANY open tables. I have not experienced this level of blatant rudeness from a restaurant in years and having worked in the industry myself, I know there is no reason to treat a customer who just walked in like that. Inexcusable. Find someplace else.
Food-5/5 Service-5/5 Atmosphere-5/5 Picture this.
.. it's a nice Friday night and you are wanting to sit out on the patio and enjoy some great food and great company. This is the place to do so! We had an 8:15 reservation and we were promptly seated outside on their patio area. Our server was nice and helped to ensure my food restrictions were accommodated. I started out with the zero proof spritz to drink, and for those of you who enjoy a good mocktail they have several options on the menu! We ordered the truffle bread to start out with and WOW. It was crispy and yet soft with great flavor. We also split the "simple" salad and let me tell you, that was my favorite thing all night. It had fresh great ingredients with a show stopping Gorgonzola vinaigrette... I didn't have time to get a picture because after my first bite I was entranced! I want to go back for everything, but the salad... I will be dreaming of it for days. My entree was the bolognese which was good and I enjoyed the chunks of carrots in the sauce, it made it feel very homey. Overall, I would highly recommend going to North! Chain restaurants can be hit or miss, but this is a HIT!
EXQUISITE.
We had been here previously and always enjoyed it. Honestly, it may be even better now than it was. We started with the truffle bread and Simple Salad. Both of these dishes really knocked it out of the park. Can't say enough about the truffle bread and I'll probably continue to daydream about it. For my entree, I had the funghi pizza. The flavor and the crust were great, a bit runny though so I'd say you'd have to eat it by fork. Enjoyed it though! I was impressed by their cocktail options as well, both alcohol and non alcoholic. Service was really good too as I feel like we were checked on often. My only critique is I'd say our entrees took quite a while. Maybe due to how busy it was but it was about an hour. Worth the wait though! I imagine we'll be back soon!

Sunday brunch started with a Spicy Bloody Mary followed by Prosciutto and Asparagus Omelette that was excellent. My friend had the Farmers Scramble and she loved it. Service was great, it made for a good pleasant afternoon.
