Must say we were looking for a good meal here at the Best Western. The food was really good, delivered to our room. Fish, fresh veggies, nice mashed potatoes. Reasonable price. Im going back!!!

Beautiful place and friendly people. Food was great.
Be the first to ReplyLive Oak was a great spot to grab good breakfast at.
I ordered the Santa Barbara Wrap and my boyfriend got the Avo Bacon Omeltte. Everything was pretty good, a few of the side potatoes we got were uncooked which was a bummer because they tasted great. Otherwise service was good and it was a cute little spot.

I recently met a friend here for lunch and it was great! Super easy to get a table at the lunch hour on a Friday, though still shocked by how many people were dining there at that time. We were seated right away and our server was very attentive. I opted for one of their grain bowls with chicken and chose the wasabi spicy sauce to go on top. It honestly wasn't very spicy but the bowl was delicious. Very filling. I was curious about the marinated egg but it was good! They do have a parking lot but it was full upon my arrival, so I opted for street parking which was still easy to snag. Definitely a great spot!

I stopped into Live Oak Cafe after visiting a friend in the Cottage Hospital a couple blocks away. Live Oak is basically a Cafe attached to a Best Western but that is where all resemblances stop for Live Oak is doing things with care and attention to detail: things you don't usually find in a motel restaurant. We were initially greeted by a huge smile bestowed upon us by a pretty woman (sorry, i did not get her name) who, along with Javier gave us primo service throughout our short stay. The decor of Live Oak is straight out of 60's Cafe' attached to a Motel decor which was a bit off putting but the proof is in the pudding and so we marched on. Plus 2 of my Yelp friends had raved about this joint: so there is that. We were hankering for a great waffle and Goodlands was not open. so, based on Yelp's cumulative score: we walked on down here. We ordered A Belgian Waffle, A side of Onion Rings, a Spinach, Mushroom Omelet. I returned the waffle because it was not cooked enough and i ordered it plain: with butter and maple syrup and well cooked. The second one was perfect: yeasty, crispy and slightly sweet. The Omelet was stuffed with spinach, mushrooms and cheddar and light, eggy and accompanied by savory green onion skillet potatoes. The Onion Rings were ok not great: obviously frozen but of a good quality but out of a bag nonetheless. And finally the Syrache. What the Hell is that? Syrah? Grenache? Yeah: a combo of the 2? Yes, I think, Well it is a very good, chillable red wine with fruity ( as in Blueberries) and floral notes yet not cloying on the tongue. I enjoyed it with my waffle and also with the Omelet. So i guess you could say that it is a great Breakfast wine! Who knew? Service was very good and Javier was personable and helpful. Oh yeah: the coffee is great: produced with beans from Greenstar in Goleta. But good coffee only comes from the melding of the proper amount of water to ground coffee ratio. They do it right here. Live Oak is the perfect place to go for a drink (they have a nice cozy bar) and the greenhouse room is attractive and warm feeling. Cheers.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I were in the area to visit a friend
My wife and I were in the area to visit a friend post-surgery and arrived too early to visit and happened upon this very cute cafe. If I'm not mistaken it's the restaurant that serves guests for the "Best Western" hotel but non-hotel guest are welcome as well. Let me say that during our visit it was pouring rain and didn't want to venture too far away from our destination and the cafe was a welcome sight. Despite the massive down pour, we found parking and sat in their covered and heated patio area enjoying our breakfast to the pitter patter sounds of the rain bounce off the metal roof. My wife had the Avocado Bacon Omelet, which she absolutely loved it came with bacon and described it as divine; crispy and not chewy. I chose the French toast combo...the French toast was cooked exactly to my liking. Delicious! With a soft fluffy texture. I too cant say enough about their delicious bacon. We were fortunate to have the patio area to ourselves because of the rain. That said, their food is so good that one is likely to wait in line on some weekends and weekdays. What brought us to the area wasn't great but this wonder cafe provided us a little touch of peace that we both cherished. Overall great food, food service and definitely worth visiting again.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for breakfast the other day.
I was expecting a place that was maybe airier or newer based on the look of their website, and it's pretty dated. Why outdoor furniture if you are seated indoors? The server was great, attentive, very nice. My daughter had the lemon zest French toast, which she liked. I ordered the garden veggie omelet, which was just weird. The vegetables were not really cooked enough, and the eggs were draped over. There were huge hunks of red onion, nearly raw, and small pieces of woody kale stalks, almost all of which I pushed to the side. I asked to add cheese and most of it was stuck to the plate, under the vegetables. The "scallion potatoes" on the side didn't have enough scallions to advertise them by that name. I think if I had ordered something else it would have been better.

We had a great experience here, eating with our kids and also having our dog with us. The patio area where dogs are allowed is enclosed so worked well for a cold evening. We were given some treats to feed our dog while dining there. The food was great and the service was wonderful as well!

live oak was really amazing! there were too many vegan options on the menu but i had the hash browns, and the avocado toast. the hasbrowns were very solid! especially considering the price. the quantity was very goodthe avocado toast was pretty much what expected. the tomatoes were raw and the seasoning was alright. but i added some siracha to it and game changer!also tip: i got some extra slices of toast and cut them up and dipped them into maple syrup for easy instant vegan french toast!

Food was good but a little bit pricey. Service was fast. Will recommend for brunch
Be the first to ReplyA local, downtown Santa Barbara gem! The food at Live Oak
A local, downtown Santa Barbara gem! The food at Live Oak Cafe is super homey and delicious. My husband and I love to stop by on cold nights, after a walk on the beach, or just nights no one wants to cook, lol, and get the burger or turkey pot pies with mixed greens side salads. We also LOVE the pork manapua, homemade soups, and the wide variety of gorgeous, decadent desserts! Seems like there is always something new to choose from on the menu! Service here is always super friendly. I can't remember ever having a bad experience, dining in or picking up. Everything is always prepared and served with care and attention to detail, and it always seems like a good value, for the price. Takeout orders are easily picked up at the little side window and packed thoughtfully.
Be the first to ReplySuch a great little spot.
We were driving through SB Yelping our way to find a breakfast spot and this one popped up. My husband got a grain bowl from the lunch menu with Kalua pork. Which he devoured. I stuck with an omelette overflowed with bacon topped with avocados My side was a fruit bowl which was super fresh and so yummy. Great stop. Cute place!!!Speedy service
Be the first to ReplyWe didn't feel like cooking one Tuesday night and my wife
We didn't feel like cooking one Tuesday night and my wife suggested coming here after driving by it for years and hearing good things. They also have a good Axxess deal. The restaurant is inside the pleasant grounds of a Best Western Plus hotel, but I understand it is independently owned and run. Being off State Street's beaten path, it felt like a secret staycation spot for us.The restaurant's interior is casual, uncrowded, clean and comfy with a large enclosed patio area. It was a cold evening and we sat inside in a booth; it was about 1/3 full. Full breakfast menu with pastries and coffee, with smallish but well rounded dinner options: burgers, sandwiches, chicken pot pie, seafood, chicken Picatta and masala, some Asian inspired dishes, tacos, steak, salads. Also a full bar and a good selection of wine by the glass or bottle.I had the chicken piccata with sweet potatoes and a glass of Chenin Blanc, and my wife had chicken pot pie with a salad and Chardonnay. Both dishes were extremely well prepared and presented, and tasted great. The restaurant was full off professional staffed, with folks checking on us every 5-10 minutes. I have to admit, I was expecting hotel dining twilight zone, but Live Oak presented itself as good as a top notch cafe/bistro, at a great value, in Santa Barbara's sea of hit or miss restaurant options. We will definitely be coming back!

Have been enjoying this comfy and cozy café for awhile now, and realize I need to write up a review . . . here I go.They have a nice spacious parking area that is shared with the Best Western Plus Hotel, and it's a hop, skip and a jump from Cottage Hospital. As you enter the café you have a choice of a big comfy booth on the right, or outside in their spacious and warm atrium on the left. It's becoming a regular breakfast spot for us, with my favorite dishes being any of the eggs combinations, and their grain bowls. And it's always been nice to have either a side of crispy bacon, crispy hash browns or sweet potatoes.Staff is always helpful and friendly, and special shout out to server Cesar who always takes very good care of us all.And try to save some room for the assorted pastries they have at the front counter. Both the Almond Croissants and Giant Big Brownies are nice to take to-go.
Be the first to ReplySuper cute cozy restaurant with sunroom seating.
Good clean tasting delicious. Great service with smiles. Very welcoming cafe
Be the first to ReplyFood was very good and reasonably priced.
We had the salmon and halibut, both were very good and the vegetables too. Mashed potatoes were great. Sweet potatoes were okay. They have a great cabinet of desserts to pick from.Lighting was a little bright. If they turned it down it might bring more ambience. Service was attentive and friendly.

I've always had a fantastic experience at Live Oak! Excellent food, great service and a laid back feel. I enjoy popping by for a latte and a delicious housemade pastry for a quick breakfast. I also love staying a while for a plate of waffles or a breakfast bowl. The pork belly bacon is out of this world!! All of their breakfast dishes are a big hit. I recently went to meet a friend for lunch and finally got to try the lunch menu. I went for a simple soup and salad. I should have known that it would be incredible! A Portuguese bean soup du jour along with a simple yet fresh green salad with a tasty vinaigrette dressing. It really hit the spot! Live Oak really finds a way to make every dish special.

Great atmosphere, solid breakfast menu with really deliciously prepared food. The Avocado and Bacon Omelette with hashbrowns is done right, with a slightly sweeter and tangier bacon, it's definitely unique and the coffee is perfect. Not watered down and enough to warm your bones on a cold morning. Great service, you won't be disappointed.

Tired of running around the city, we just realised that we were in the same parking lot as a really good breakfast spot. Not many people here but we weren't deterred. We got a half sandwich and soup which was really good. The albondigas soup was really flavorful and the meatballs had a really good texture. The bacon on the wasn't crunchy how I usually like it but it was still plentiful and had a nice little glaze / sauce on it. I'm a hash brown snob so I really pay attention to the cook on them. These were super crispy on both sides which is just what I like. Not too thick too which means more crispiness. The omelette had a lot of filling and I think that sour cream was homemade. It was thicker and was really good.Taste: ****Service: ****Ambiance: ***----------------------------Live Oak Cafe2220 Bath St, Santa Barbara, CA 93105----------------------------

I wish I could give this place 10 stars! The food was excellent and the service was even better. The French toast and pacific rim fried rice are must try's. If you're in the area, run to this place. You won't regret it.

I am usually hesitant to go into restaurants that are in hotels. The Live Oak Cafe was very good. We stayed three nights and had three breakfasts and one dinner here. There were four of us. We had several items such as eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, wine, fish, coffee, hot chocolate... all very good and reasonably priced. The service was excellent and everyone friendly! Recommend this restaurant.
