I recently visited this place and was impressed! Ample parking, delightful ambiance inside and out. The host promptly seated us, and I appreciated the attentive service - changing silverware and tidying up after each course. The steak tartare appetizer was delicious, and the spinach bucatini (clam-free) for the entree was absolutely delightful! I'm eagerly looking forward to returning for that dish. The warm chocolate tart for dessert was heavenly. Excellent service, delicious food, and a wonderful atmosphere - can't wait to return!

Cocktails were so good, we order the Otium and Birch Pop cocktails wow very refreshing . I highly recommend the steak tartare , and the pork chop, however it did take about 40 minutes to get our pork chop , hopefully it was just a one time kitchen glitch . The staff were friendly and professional. The decor was nice and open , I'd definitely be returning soon !

Love the architecture of this restaurant and the food is always exceptional. I love their changing menu but always their classic spinach bucatini is bomb. One amazing thing to note is that you can park at the Broad museum parking (entrance on 2nd St) for $8 when you have your ticket validated with Otium.

The food was excellent! The food is shareable so you can get a few items on the menu. My husband and I came for our anniversary and they were so sweet and gave us a sweet anniversary card. The service was excellent, starting with the hostess, the server, the manager and the busy boy. Everyone was so attentive and accommodating. The restaurant was very clean, the decor is rustic. The restroom is very clean. You can dress up or dress down, however you feel. Everyone is welcomed. We will definitely return. It's a good restaurant next to the broad museum and Disney concert hall. The server was very considerate and did ask if we had a show to attend to and if we were crunched on time. However, we were not going to any show so we took our time eating a wonderful dinner.

We love going here, especially if we have Disney Hall tickets. Love the food, service is great, and ambiance is sometime loud with music but that's ok! Make sure to make your Rez early because they get booked for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyBest service and food I ever had for awhile.
Exceeded my expectations. We went for dinner and got the naan, lobster mac, cauliflower but what stole the show was the chicken. It was soooo good honestly would go back in a heartbeat.

Holy cow, I cannot say enough good about this place! The food is to die for. I am literally still here at the restaurant dying over how amazing the food is. I cannot recall the last time my taste buds were over the moon. The cauliflower appetizer was nothing like I've ever had before. It's ridiculously delicious. The chicken "main" dish with potatoes was heaven. The cab wine was fantastic. The view, the service...spectacular! It's a bit pricey but the food is meant to be shared. This place is over the top amazing. It's come here again and again. It's too die for. It's a must go and walking distance to the Ahmanson so it's perfect before a show. BTW, that are super mindful of that and inquired when I arrived. They also asked about food allergies. This place is awesome!

We had early dinner reservations. At first we thought it wasn't necessary. We were wrong. The place filled up quickly. Make dinner reservations! The food and drinks were lovely. My favorites: Old fashioned Champagne Oysters Bucatini Potatoes Sorbet This place is a repeat! Enjoy!

We've been to Otium several times in the past and this is the first poor experience we had. Sadly, we brought two first-timers with us, who were not impressed. Our reservation was early, at 545pm on a Thursday, so it was a surprise to learn they had run out of bread. They offered the nan bread instead, which we accepted, but it took over twenty minutes to arrive. We ordered some starters, oysters and pasta. The pasta came out before our oysters. We later learned they forgot about the oysters until after our pasta came out. Our party ordered two NY beef strip dishes. One medium and one medium-rare. The wait between the oysters (that came out after the pasta) and mains was over thirty minutes. The waiter, who we like & served us in the past, told us it would be another 15 minutes about 15 minutes into the wait. Not a huge deal, but when the steak arrived, both were cold, to include the sauce and onions in the plate. We told the waiter and the manager came over. They offered to warm it up, but that wasn't going to work for us. They took the steak back and removed them from the check, which we appreciated, but really made for a poor overall dinner experience for the group. Not sure why it would take 30 minutes to get a dish, then for it to come out cold, not even warm. While the manager took the meat off the bill, he was unapologetic. In fairness and completeness, we had fish collar, gnocchi and agnolotti, which were all really good. The fish collar was substantial and easily shared among two people. Overall, not the dinner experience we have come to expect at Otium and certainly not good for the price point. Based on prior positive experiences here, we may give them another shot.

This place is so fantastic! The menu has so many great options and everything was looks so appetizing. The restaurant has great interior setting and pleasant ambiance. The staff was so attentive and friendly. The portions were good. We really had a great dinner there. We had the Spinach Bucatini, Pork Belly Rice Bowl, and some appetizers and dessert. Nice experience dining there.
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous place to have a nice dinner.
Servers are always great and help answer any questions you may have with a sommelier in house to pair your wines. The naan was our favorite part of the menu and that is not taking away anything from the other ordered items. It's just how good the naan is. Not sure if the black cod and the duck breast is still on the menu, but the tomahawk is gigantic and should be shared. It is HEAVY and usually comes out last because it can take a while to cook so plan accordingly if you don't want leftovers.
Be the first to ReplyWe are always looking to find new restaurants near Ahmanson
We are always looking to find new restaurants near Ahmanson and I think this one may be our favorite so far! We started with the naan bread and two different dips (truffle butter and bone marrow) which might have been excessive but were both phenomenal! I think we kept going back and forth on which one we loved more. We looked at some of the popular items on Yelp and went with the spinach bucatini, salmon, broccolini, and the steak and every dish was savory and rich in flavor. I can see why the spinach bucatini is a hit with a lot of people! The interior is beautiful with quick service since they're used to people trying to catch shows. The meal is on the pricier side but well worth if you're in the mood to splurge.

One of the best things about this lovely restaurant next to the Broad is its staff, charming young people who seem to like working there and who know a great deal about the food. As for the food, it's excellent; the menu is appetizing, inventive and well-designed. The physical space is lovely. I recommend Otium highly and look forward to going back.

One of the best dinner places with shareable plates for everyone! We booked this place since we a local concert to watch in the late evening. The inside layout is amazing cozy and perfect for a date night. They even have a wine room with shelves and rows of wine, quite the look! We sat down and got a couple drinks, I ordered an old fashioned and it was delicious, they really know how to make their drinks! We ordered a handful of dishes, appetizers, mains, and some pasta. There were so many items that looked amazing it was tough to say no to any of them. Their plates come out in shareable sizes and are perfect, a little taste of everything and that a perfect way to eat dinner. Everything tasted phenomenal and I truly mean phenomenal. The service was great, they were always attentive and took care of us every step of the way. We even finished with a little bit of desert. A perfect date night. Check this place out, it's an experience you won't forget!

The bacon potato gnocchi, naan with chicken liver mousse, Otium potatoes, and rockfish with passion fruit and candied cashews were sooo delicious. Definitely felt like a splurge but I was able to use a $75 off $150 on the InKind app, which made this meal such a good deal! The ambience is modern and cozy and service was phenomenal. My favorite was definitely the rockfish with passion fruit and candied walnuts as it was cooked to perfection, deliciously sweet and sour, with a nice crunch and texture from the candied cashews.
Be the first to Reply$12 for a slice of bread.
When the waiter was asked about this, he stated "this is not McDonald's." Ran out of sole at 6 o'clock in the evening when the restaurant was only open for an hour? They bring the food out once it is prepared. That means that everybody at the table will be eating at different times. They forgot about our "sides", and offered to bring them out with the dessert. We've eaten here before, and the ambience is a plus. The food is fine when you finally eat it. But the service is beyond unbelievably poor. I wonder how long this restaurant will last
Be the first to ReplyWe arrived at Otium about 15 minutes before our reservation
We arrived at Otium about 15 minutes before our reservation time. Although there were plenty of open tables and there wasn't anyone else waiting, the hostess refused to seat us until the actual time for our reservation. Even then, she waited until 5 minutes after the reservation time and after I asked before seating us.Then, she tried to put us at table right by the front door, which we had asked to be seated away from. There was no plausible reason for the hostess' treatment of us or her rigid attitude. Just the same, the food was very good and our waiter was great- very knowledgeable and helpful.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is nicely decorated and has a decent
The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a decent ambience but that's about where the positives end. Our server and the entire staff lack the type of customer service you would expect to find at a fine dining establishment. We were immediately put off by our server when she approached the table and called us "lovelies," and then continued to do so with each interaction. She was completely ingenious and it was rather insulting to even interact with her. I think her name was Jackeline or Jamie? Every recommendation she gave was based on price as she had zero knowledge of the actual dishes which was further evident by her mishandling of our food allergies on SEVERAL dishes. She continuously recommended the most expensive options and when we questioned her she admitted to not having tried most of what was recommended. After taking our drink order we waited over 15 mins to get our beverages while several tables that arrived after were served ahead of us. After ordering our food we had to repeatedly waive down the server to get any additional items or to remind them we were waiting. I'm currently pescatarian and I ordered the whistle pig old fashion it arrived with pork skin garnishing. When I ordered my second bourbon with a much lesser bourbon, Woodford Reserve, I was charged $33 - the same price as the bottle that retails for 3-4x more...Seriously? When we ordered the Spinach Linguini we asked if it could be made without Bacon - it arrived with bacon. Also the food was not coursed out properly as we received our sides before our main dishes - which we sat waiting in front of for several minutes until our main dishes arrived. We had forgot about the pasta which was to be served between starters and mains but of course that came out last...AND it was wrong. At this point we packed it up and decided to move on.Coming here to celebrate our Anniversary was a bad idea. After spending nearly $400 for 2 ppl you expect to be treated well and fed well - neither was the case. This place is overpriced and under serviced with a pretentious vibe that was palpable. Foodies and Restaurant-goers BEWARE!
Be the first to ReplyI would like to start off by saying that Otium is a fine
I would like to start off by saying that Otium is a fine restaurant that serve wonderful, creative dishes which are absolutely fresh and delicious. The setting is beautiful and modern, tucked away in a very artistic, upscale area. The vibe is young and fresh with a fantastic bar setting. The staff is all very friendly and sincere, where the hostesses never appear to be condescending as they do in many upscale restaurants. The servers are well versed in the menu and offer great opinions on some of their favorite dishes. As for the food, the Naan bread is not to be missed as it come out piping hot and absolutely delicious. The potatoes are unrivaled and perhaps the best to be found in any restaurant. A new addition (at least since my last visit) is the Duck Confit Pot Pie which comes out piping hot on a skillet packed full of shredded duck, onions, carrots, etc. The crust is flaky, puffy and the size is gracious! This dish is incredibly flavorful and stands its ground against any traditional pot pie. Overall, a standing ovation to all the chef and his staff who prepare all the delicious plates. My one complaint is the troubling trend that has been developing in many places where restaurants are pushing people to share small plates and dine in a "Tapas" type atmosphere. There is nothing wrong with this style of dining and may be a nice novelty to do so but patrons shouldn't be pressured into doing so with wait staff getting offended when diners don't choose to go this route. That just illustrates the pressure that the servers must receive from the restaurant to push this style of dining. As a regular diner, I am familiar with this trend and do not need to be badgered or need to justify why it's not my preferred choice of dining. It is also not an issue to be debated nor a threat of having plates come out at separate times. I understand ordering a plethora of plates to be shared among the table would be more profitable to the establishment but to aggressively ask patrons to do so is insulting and ruined the entire dining experience. In conclusion, Otium is a wonderful restaurant with fantastic food, a warm but fun environment and a pleasant staff. My one complaint may be a personal one that may not bother others so I DO highly recommend dining here.
Be the first to ReplyOtium is an elitest racist restaurant who discriminates
Otium is an elitest racist restaurant who discriminates against people of color. This restaurant has a continuous pattern Of discrimination. This is the third time the restaurant has dismissed successful professionals of color. They would not sit a successful polite Latino and his assistant, but they would gladly seat two white males with no reservation. This restaurant will never earn a Michelin Star. That I can assure you. Remember this!
