Paradise Soho London Reviews from The Last Year
1.5 hours to eat and leave, f**k that!
Great spot in Soho, and good food. However, how can you enjoy an expensive meal, which are sharing plates in 1 hour and 30 mins, before getting dashed out for another reservation. I found the waiters to be passive aggressive, rushing you to eat your meal. For an intimate eating venue, that is at the top end of spending money of food, let your customers enjoy their food and sit down for 2.5 hours at least. This dining out culture where you book a table for 1.5 hours is a joke!!!! Honestly, I refused to now eat in expensive bougie places where they rush you out for the next customer, f**k off! I want to eat, chat, enjoy the experience and leave when I am ready, especially if I am spending money.
Excellent .
It's Srilankan with a twist . Enjoyed very much . We were very full at the end of the 8 course journey which was served with a lot of passion. Each dish came as a surprise and could not falter any .
Not to be missed!
A thoroughly enjoyable dinner. The food was really well prepared and very tasty. Erin was helpful , friendly and extremely informative. With only 32 covers it is only fair that they have a strict cancellation policy.
Terrible booking policy and process is painful
I can only echo other people's reviews. The booking process is painful, with you having to repeatedly check boxes to indicate you have read their cancellation policy, and they are far more interested in their cancellation policy than letting you have information about their restaurant. As indicated elsewhere on here the policy is not reasonable so you would not have difficulty with a chargeback. Expect a text soon after midnight the day before you eat so they can remind you once again of their £40 cancellation charge. The food was delicious, if a little overpriced. The descriptions make the dishes sound like generous home cooked portions, and this is not the case. The portions are more tapas size so be prepared to have a number of dishes to keep you from going hungry. For instance the chicken mince balls with chicken liver curry is two small meatballs with literally a teaspoon of chicken liver curry on top. I had envisioned a lovely hearty meal! I would visit again if I was passing and they happened to have space, but I will never be booking to eat here again!
great dinner spot
Great spot for dinner. We got seated right when we showed up (had reservations) at a great spot by the window. We ordered 5 plates between the two of us. The Mutton Roll tartare was amazing. A small portion, but the flavor and texture was superb. Service was excellent - the food was spaced out nicely and we had an enjoyable evening.
Unkind and unfair practices and a complete lack of communication.
I booked a table using their website about an hour before arriving at the restaurant. When booking I was told we'd have to pay £80 if we cancelled. We arrived, and we were sat right in the doorway and it was too cold to stay. We asked to move table and were told there wasn't one available. We said to the waiter that we were going to come back another time and went somewhere else. The waiter said no worries and we left. I was then charged £80 for cancelling. I didn't cancel. I emailed the restaurant multiple times and never received a reply. In the end my bank decided this was fraudulent and reimbursed it. I didn't try the food but i wouldn't recommend this place based on their unkind, unfair policies and poor customer service.
Mixed bag. Expected bigger flavours .
Ok this place is a mixed bag. We arrived 5 minutes early and told no we are not open come back in 5 minutes. Never had that before. They could have said come in it is cold sit down I will be with you soon. The menu is very different which is good. Lots of different dishes and flavours . I was expecting to get blown away with the flavours but sadly it missed the mark. It is a tapas style dining which I like as you get to try lots of different things. However, after £100 between two I was still hungry and I am a small person. Three scallops for £19 a bit on the pricey. Dishes we ordered were on the small side with mild to no flavour. I also don’t get the three portion thing when you know people are sharing usually two people. Vegetarian dish I ordered was disappointing . Service was good and food came quickly.
Awful customer service!
Avoid this restaurant! I had reservation for my 30th birthday, which was pre-paid in advance through a voucher. Upon arrival, after waiting outside in the cold for 15 minutes, I managed to speak with the front of house who said half the kitchen was down and we would have to wait 1hr 45 minutes to be seated, meaning we would have been lucky to eat before 10pm, or the reservation was cancelled. Three other reservations were turned away as well the same night. What's worse is this issue had been known earlier in the week and we weren't notified and given the chance to rearrange to a better date. In fact, I was hassled multiple times to confirm my reservation over phone and email, even after I had already written to say I was coming. One email I received earlier in the week offered a limited menu with little choice, take it or leave it - I had to accept or cancel my booking by close of play to avoid losing the table. This is totally unacceptable for a Michelin rated restaurant. There hasn't been any follow up since to apologise and we were left in central London trying to find somewhere half-decent to eat without a booking on a Friday night. As we have a pre-paid voucher, we are obviously committed to coming back to this restaurant if we don't want the money wasted, and were told by the front of house that priority booking would be offered, as well as compensation being available when we do return for dinner - but again, we have heard nothing on this. I have now lost £00s of pounds and have no way of contacting the restaurant without being ignored. They don't even provide a telephone number and I have had multiple emails ignored.
Terrible
Please avoid disappointment and DO NOT BOOK this restaurant! We were having an annual friends meet up in London and had booked a table for this on Friday night. Two of us travelled up from Bournemouth for this. We rushed our predinner drinks to arrive at the restaurant at 7.25pm, after hearing horror stories that they give your table away if you are late. We were told there was a problem in the kitchen and can we please return in an hour. We agreed as we had no options at such a late stage on a Friday night for a group of 7 in London! At 8.30 we were told would we like to cancel the reservation as the table was still not ready! The restaurant was very busy with other patrons all dining - so it makes one wonder whether they just overbooked people on the night? They surely would not be able to serve the other diners if there was a technical fault in the kitchen as they were claiming? There were another three tables in the queue that were turned away ! A very disappointing night for all involved. This meant we missed our return train to Bournemouth. The least one would expect is a a phone call in advance advising of the situation so we could make an alternative arrangement - not to be told on arrival at the door! Despite leaving our contact numbers with the staff for management to get in touch and several emails, no one has bothered to reach out to us. We have never experienced such poor customer service in London.
A superb little find in amongst the busyness of Soho
The welcome and service was second to none - the guys were so knowledgeable about the menu and couldn’t have been more helpful in making recommendations about how many dishes to choose and helping us choose them. The food was superb as were the ambience decor and drinks!! Definitely be back 👍
